The Legendary Era (Open Fantasy RP)

Before the founding of Dancing Penguin, it and all the other nations on the continent went by one name: Mageddon. From the 1000 A.D. to the year 1500 A.D., growing populations on Mageddon forced many people to leave their villages and wander the continent. This lead to a boom in epic writing as the travelers retold their tales. These tales, which were often no more than elegant lies, inspired others to go off as well. This period saw a huge increase in bastard children. The children would grow up and go off to find their fathers. It is easy to see how this quickly spiraled out of control. Near the end of this period, now called “The Legendary Era”, everyone had given themselves some kind of title. Traveling heroes weren’t the only people to rise during this period, however. Numerous tyrants and kings sprung up as well. Perhaps most notably is Lady Bloodfang, who rallied demonic armies and would later attempt to conquer all of Mageddon.

Of course, many little fights broke out and blood tournaments became very popular. The real violence, however, didn’t begin until 1200 A.D. when

Jack stopped typing and watched the cursor blink. He reread his work.

“Damn, I’m gonna fail this for sure.” He looked over at his clock: 9:15. It was due tomorrow and he had only just started. He leaned back in his chair as he looked through one of the books he had taken out of the library.

“It must have been a cool time to live. Much cooler than it is to write about...” And he went back to work.

ooc: This RP will be taking place on the medieval continent of Mageddon. I hope to make a trilogy out of this, and I do have a plot in mind. RPers of every skill level are allowed, however I do have some basic character rules:

1. Your character must be able to die.
2. Magic and enchanted whatnots are allowed, but keep it in reason (see rule one).
3. Non-human characters are allowed, however (see rule one)

If you use multiple characters, do something to keep them separate to avoid any confusion. I will make my first post shortly. Please either post your questions here or telegram them to Dancing Penguin.

Perrin
The tavern was dark, barely lit by flickering lamps. Women in collars walked among the tables, delivering food. Most of the men at the tables wore dark hoods, some because they thought it looked cool and others because they had something to hide. Perrin, a man at the far corner was of the latter. He quietly sipped his ale as he looked out over the mass. His attention was focused mostly on the women, but not for the same reason many of the fools at the other tables stared.

There! She’s the one! A quiet voice, like that of a young child. Perrin didn’t even bother to look for the speaker, knowing he would see no one. The voice was his guiding spirit and it called his attention to one of the serving girls.

She looked young, barely into womanhood, with bright blue eyes and lips that seemed to have forgotten how to smile. Her skin was pale, though not sickly so, and she had an unnatural, almost otherworldly beauty.

“Pretty girl,” Perrin admitted.

Her name is Jezebel. The other women are here by choice or to pay off some debt. She is only here because the owner knows she gets the best business. The guiding spirit sounded angry when it spoke of this. You need to get her out of here! It will not be long before some drunk fool purchases her for the night!

Perrin scanned the bar, quickly noticing he was not the only one drawn to Jezebel, and realized he would need to make his move soon.

Perrin
One man who had been staring at Jezebel open mouthed staggered to his feet. He worked his way across the tavern and began to speak with the owner, gesturing more or less to Jezebel. The owner replied and the man pulled his money out and attempted to count out some coins. Then Perrin stood, hurried to the owner, and tossed a sliver, star shaped medallion into his lap.

“Will that cover it?” The owner picked it up and his jaw dropped.

“Is this-” Perrin shushed him. The owner just nodded, starring at the relic in his hand. Perrin turned to speak to Jezebel when the drunken man grabbed his shoulder.

“Hey! I was gonna... was gonna,” and he hit Perrin in the gut. Perrin, completely unprepared for the blow, doubled over with a groan. The drunk pulled him back up by his hood laughing. His laughter, and much of the noise in the tavern, stopped when Perrin’s hood fell back.

The entire left side of Perrin’s face was scarred with some type of ancient symbol. The ominous mark was made much spookier by the flickering lights. As the drunk stood, awestruck, Perrin lashed out, sending his foe staggering back. The drunk tripped over the leg of a chair, whammed his head on the corner of a table, and was out cold. Perrin quickly replaced his hood and, as conversations timidly restarted around the tavern, pulled Jezebel over to his table.
