The Global Trade Area treaty (GTA)

Introduction and structure
1. This treaty shall hereby be known as the Global Trade Area Treaty (GTA).
2. An adjudicative body will be established, composed of representatives of five nations in the GTA, and it will sit in the city of New Port-Allanea. It’s purpose will be to adjudicate all alleged violations of GTA
3. The body will be known as the Five Member Council, or FMC.
4. The FMC will be composed of The Resurgent Dream, Independent Hitmen, and Allanea, as well as two more posts that will be filled on monthly (RL) rotation.

Requirements and Conditions
5. All signatories of the GTA will remove all import tariffs on each other’s goods.
6. All signatories of the GTA will allow the merchant vessels of other signatories to sail through their waters freely, unless they intend to unload cargo or stop at local harbours.
7. All signatories of the GTA will allow the merchant vessels of other signatories to unload cargo and stop at local harbours provided the vessel in question complies with all local laws and regulations.
8. All signatories of the GTA will guarantee the security of the property of both their and foreign citizens from unreasonable seizure.
9. All signatories of the GTA will agree to treat foreign and local businesses equally before the law.

Punishments in case of violation
10. If a nation violates the GTA, a vote of 4-1 in the FMC will suffice to extract fines to be paid in favour of the victim nation. A 5:0 vote will suffice to expel.
11. If a member of the FMC be on trial, he cannot vote, but another nation will be randomly selected to do so in his stead.

Application for the GTA
12. Any nation which agrees to the above terms may agree to the above treaty, yet any FMC member may veto the application within 48 hours of it being made.

For too long, the nations of the world have been divided by unfair, discriminatory, and sometimes outright dishonest trade tariffs, often motivated by outright xenophobia and extremist ideology. We believe that the Global Trade Area treaty will be seen as a wonderful opportunity for all nations to engage in trade and peaceful exchange of knowledge, money, and assitance, opening a road to a better future for the entire world. We all want peace. We all know that when goods don’t cross borders, soldiers do. This treaty will ensure that won’t happen

The Imperial Shogunate will join the GTA.

We are pleased to see our allies join this treaty.

We welcome the nation of Camewot into the GTA. We hope that this will open a new age of friendship and open trade between our nations. We would also wish to invite the Midlonian and Camewotian government to establish an embassy exchange with the CSA.

The Aequatian Republic is interested in joining this organization as we have intended to become more involved in the trade agreements and rights in the international scene. We humbly submit our request to become a member of the GTA Treaty.

The Incorporated Sarzonian Government, after considering the proposed GTA treaty, hereby announce that we do not ratify the document and we do not affix our names as a signatory nation. We have noticed that several countries, namely Aequatio and Allanea, who have directly threatened the interests of Sarzonian allies, have signed this accord. We can not in good conscience follow suit.

In addition, we note with strong disappointment that our former allies from the Victoria Alliance have signed the accord. We strongly advise them to reconsider their decision if they wish to have further productive relations with Sarzonia.

While we recognise the value of such an accord in the international market, we are not in a position to enter into any sort of agreement with countries against whom we may shortly find opposed to us in the diplomatic or military realms.

Thought for the day: Better one friend than a thousand enemies
Upon careful deliberation, Hogsweatian Parliament voted in favour over a three day spanm for Hogsweat to request entry into the GTA Treaty. For too long have we been at a state of war with Allanea and we think now is the time to repeal the embargo placed upon Allanea.

The Hogsweatian Government hereby repeals it's embargo on Allanea, removing all trade tarrifs from Hogsweatian State Companies.

However, if we are to join the GTA, we wish for our Economic System to be respected. Therefore, even as a member of the GTA, we will impose the 67% percent income tax on all sectors for private corporations on foreign corporations too, should they "setup shop" in Hogsweat.

We hope that the GTA can see our point of view and allow us into this economic alliance.

Although this comes at a time of intra-regional war for us, we would like to join our allies the Indepedent Hitmen and fellow KoTM members San Texario, Holy Panooly and Midlonia as part of the GTA.

We've recieved your invitation to this covanant, and have read the acts which would bind all of our Nations together by the wallet. The Board Members of the C.C.E. have voted in favor of allegiance in the Global Trade Agreement, 9-3.

Since the C.C.E. took control of Arkanaland, we have been a free-trading Nation, that place no favors for restricting tariffs that endanger all people economically. With that said, staying with the requirements will prove easy to our Policies.

Though Russia is not friendly to capitalist style alliances, we believe that joining this organisation will help RF become more of a powerful nation and have a stronger sphere of influence.

We also wish to take part in this to show our loyalty to our friendship with nations such as Independent Hitmen. This will obviously give russia a stronger friendship and more allies, whatever their regime may be.

Methinks Saluki will join.

We must remind our ally Sarzonia that is just a clear economical treaty, not a military one and therefore not threatening to any nations, neither you.

As any nation, Camewot is constantly searching for ways to improve our economy and that contains seeking trade contacts with other nations, may they be strong fascist or strong communist minded. If it can improve our economy and therefore help our citizens, we will not hestiate to sign any trade treaty that does not have any military related bussines with it.

We hope that this will not hurt our relations with Sarzonia, and it it would it would certainly not be coming from our side of the world.

Further, we see that our allies Hogsweat have entered the GTA Treaty, meaning that he is also of the same opinion.

We are happy to welcome Saluki and Amerigo to the alliance. We are forced, however, to veto the Russian Forces application on grounds of their extreme communism

OOC: Beyond the provisions of the charter of the GTA, are there qualifications for becoming a signatory that I'm missing, such as being members of existing alliances, or part of a specific region/empire/organization? If not (or if I've somehow stumbled into accidentally meeting those requirements), Gruenberg would be interested in signing, as passionate proponents of free trade.

After careful consideration of the comments by the nation of Camewot, we find their signatures to the GTA treaty do not constitute a statement of alliance with nations the Incorporated Sarzonian Government considers hostile to her interests and to those of her allies. Thus, the Incorporated Sarzonian Government will not presently consider severing diplomatic relations with Camewot as a result of their agreement with the treaty.

However, any expressions of alliance with the signatory nations of this treaty who are hostile to Sarzonia and to her allies will be viewed as a breach in Sarz-Camewottian relations. As of now, we are recalling diplomatic and consular personnel from Camewottian territory. All Sarzonians must depart Camewottian territory within 72 hours as prescribed under Sarzonian law.
