About the Austar Union
How would we describe our system of government?
The Absolutionist State of Austar Union is an autocratic state, of whom its leader (Lord Indigo Blue) is a heavy believer in the freedom of the individual, and the freedom of the economy. Much like a libertarian at heart, Indigo believes in a small government, whereby most public services are provided by the free market, and hence the entrepreneur. It has been decided that a private individual, businessman, or entrepreneur is more capable at providing a customer-focused, and efficient service than that of of the government, whom has a much wider portfolio to watch over.
In the meantime, valuing the education and free-thinking of the individual is prized, we teach our children from even the youngest age to value such things as the 'Rule of Law', so that we dont have to maintain a firm grip over the populous by means of military force. Of course, being an autocratic state - anyone who is deemed to be a danger to either themselves, others, the state, or its leadership is appropriately handled by our judicial units. And henceforth, the police units are also commissioned into a state of passive watching. So long as citizens dont break the law, their lives will remain with little interference from the government. If they often break the law however, they will find themselves at odds with our current regime, and will likely find themselves into several of our institutions of criminal justice.
Most probably the best word to describe the the administration of Lord Indigo Blue, would be Benevolent Dictatorship, with a minor hint of Father Knows Best.
How do we keep the interests of the common man in mind?
Like above, the administration of Lord Indigo Blue is a heavy believer in the free market. And one of the many rules of a healthy market, would be that where there is a demand, there is money to be made.
Henceforth, it is only natural that an entrepreneur of sorts will (eventually), find that unsanitable need of each and every individual -- or perhaps even of a large, or small minority. In that sense, we have been able to achieve a system where most needs / wants are met throughout society. In the meantime, Lord Indigo Blue also mantains a system of advisory directors - of whom are more capable to be 'in-touch' with society than Indigo himself is able to be, given his duties across the board. Unfortunately however, it isnt always possible to rule in favour of the common man, considering the needs for a balanced power between people, society as a whole, and state. Some things are not nessasarily beneficial to society as a whole, and thus Indigo might have to rule in favour of protecting society from such things - whilst it might have a somewhat negative affect on the freedoms of the individual.
Indigo's first duties are to the benefit of the State, then Society as a Whole, then the Individual. Occassionally, sacrifices to one must be made in order to satisfy the needs of the other two factors. In the meantime, its always important to remember all three factors in the equation. A difficult balance, but a balance made possible through careful desision making.
How is the Austar Union positioned on the international scene, both military-wise, and politically?
The Absolutionist State of Austar Union is positioned rather well actually, on the international scene. Being a member of the VERITAS Charters for some time now, the nation has enjoyed many years of fruitful relations with a vast array of individual nations, and years upon years of peace. Given that we have a strong foriegn policy of non-intervention, and that we strongly respect the soveriegnty of others, sometimes things can be found rather quiet for international relations. Yet those we come across have developed strongly - with our more recent developing contact being Gehenna Tartarus, a member of the Non-Democratic Alliance. The Austar Union has found little need for a large military, which is used mainly for joint-exersises with friends, wargames, and/or even patrolling sensitive areas and protecting our interests from aggressors. We can honestly boast that we havent been engaged in military conflict for perhaps hundreds of years.
Nevertheless, one cannot always avoid that there will be some clashes with other states, the most recent being with Sketch, and some elements of the Order of the Seraphim out near Mercury some time ago. Regardless, that situation has since been resolved without shots-fired, and although neither side have made any particular moves toward friendship with each other - the Austar Union would consider the risk from that entity, minimal at best. Of course, without trying to predict it possible, tensions might flare up again. We consider the military however, our extreme last resort as a matter of policy - hence, we have commissioned the Diplomatic Corps as one of the more important departments of the State. In the meantime, we keep our military well upgraded and ready for combat at any given moment - so not to fall lax and regret installing an attitude of lazyness. For the most part, we would expect our military forces to be mobilized in matters concerning friends and allies - rather than in our own conflicts of interest.
In times where we believe that our own conflict of interest, we do try to hold our tongue where nessasary. Sometimes silence is the best response to certain events - and visa versa, sometimes there is a need for something to be said. One key part of foriegn relations is knowing the difference between these two times, and therefore enacting whichever is suitable.
Is there anything which the Triumvirate would need to adjust to, if the Austar Union were accepted for membership?
Ultimately, there will always be some degree of need to adjust - whether it be even the most minor points. Some say we are wrong for valuing the Rule of Social Class, some say its fine. For the most part, we disbelieve there is anything which requires particular attention to. Although, there might be a need to keep an eye on the Planet Mercury, given our unstable neighbours. But we considered the recent acceptance of The Caloris Basin, so we thought this relatively unimportant, given that Yut attention would be somewhat focused there anyway.
We believe the Austar Union to be a valuable addition to the Triumvirate.
What are the strongest values of which the people / administration hold dear to them?
Like our national motto says, Social and Political Integrity are probably the two highest things we value. Because without integrity comes a reason to mistrust, or disrespect. And with mistrust or disrespect, comes a lack of ability to negotiate our way through this world - and to even direct the nation toward where we wish to go.
Why do we want to join the Triumvirate?
For the most part, we want to join the Triumvirate of Yut for the purpose of relations. That might sound strange at first, but considering the fact that we never actually do anything without a true purpose, it takes some real thought to understand. Many of you will be familiar with the saying, 'Guilty by Association'; or, 'You are judged by those whom you familarise yourself with'. This is the exact reason why we want to join the ranks of Yut.
We respect the Triumvirate of Yut, and the members within - and whilst we dont want to sound like 'ass-kissing maniacs', to put it blunt, we recognize that by making the Austar Union an associate of the Triumvirate, other people will percieve our national image as having improved. If other people respect Yut, and recognize that the memberstates therein hold a state of integrity - then we can only further the understanding that the Austar Union also holds a sense of integrity worthy of particular respect. In the meantime, although the VERITAS alliance has served us well - we would rather find something we feel comfortable in truly 'buying into'. Given the nature of the VERITAS Charters, we would rather set aside our military resources to those who will use them wisely, and not inappropriatly as some others might, given the chance. Many of the VERITAS alliance dont hold the same values we do, and as a result we feel less and less comfortable in making our own resources available, and thus our name with such individuals.
And Lastly, What can we give to the Triumvirate of Yut?
Given that we have no particularly special resources, we dont feel we can offer anything specifically, such as access to a space station, new resources, et cetera et cetera. But what we can offer, is new perspective, new ideas, and fresh blood in that organisation. And although almost any state might be able to offer these three things, we consider our application particularly vital - because between the Trium Member-States and the Austar Union, we share many of the same political and social values.
And still, in the meantime we can also guarentee that we would be completely interested in providing the Yut Superstate with any standard commitments which are expected of us.
We truly hope that we will soon be able to share a fruitful future of relations between us, with or without our membership being accepted. And if we are not - it is not to say that we will be giving up either. It only means that we ought to try harder for our next application.
Signed, with Respect,
Lord Indigo Blue

What is the Legitimate Capitalist's Social Club?
The Legitimate Capitalist's Social Club is the Brainchild of Sir Adam Banks, the Chief Executive Officer of the global company known as Corporatell Telecommunications.
Having dined with such individuals of Lord Indigo Blue, enjoyed the company of those such as Erik von Hanskoff and Richard Hoffman Jnr, one whom has been observing the life of Adam Banks could confidently say that he has fallen well into the elite class of society -- a level of peoples whom basically rule the world. And as a considerate member of the Hanskoff / Blue / Hoffman, et cetera et cetera's respective family's, he has found quite ease in relating to such individuals. In the meantime, it was due to a dis-satisfaction he felt when reading about the struggles many of his global counterparts had to endure, to undertake the true world of business and politics by nature.
Thus, he formed the Legitimate Capitalist's Social Club -- a closely knit group of individuals of whom not only enjoyed each other's company, but also signed themselves onto a cause much greater than their own. To further advocate the freedom of business laws and conditions around the globe, and to spread the message of 'truth' and 'business / political cooporation'. In the meantime, its headquarters remain on Lake Xian'to, located in the Southern Provinces of the Austar Union. "The Lodge", as it is mainly refered to, is for the most part a place dedicated for members to either converse, or to even relax from the daily duties of life. Among many, the Legitimate Capitalist's Social Club remains as probably one of the smaller groups -- yet is considered as prestige if anything. New members are granted access to deals / opportunities they otherwise wouldnt have, and if it had not been for the fact that its existance was very much so public, the organisation could be very much comparable to that of 'The Skulls'.
