Jade, recovered from her accident, sat defiantly on one of the beams in the room. Her curly blonde hair was pulled back, and she wore a dark blue gi. It was easy enough to move around in, and made her look a bit less professional than she did the first day. She was rather tall, and her emerald eyes encompassed the students who entered the room. She was the only human teacher of the academy. Upon entering the room, students would realize that apart from the one foot perimeter around the rectangular room, there were beams stretching across, and some even lower. At the bottom, however, there was water. Xavier sat at one end of the room, enjoying his coffee thoroughly, his white hair over his sea blue eyes.

Nicole was the first to enter the class room. Yesterday's events with the water and the woman still bugged the vampire, added to that her teacher being attacked by something made her wonder if this place was haunted. Her light brown hair was tied back in a pony tail and she wore tight black gym shorts and tight sleeveless shirt.

She smiled at Jade as she entered the room and continued to look around. Nicole spotted Xavier in the corner and gave another smile. She was looking forward to this class and knew from her previous two, it probably wouldn't be a cakewalk.

While waiting for the rest of the students to come in and the class to start, Nicole started a warm up of pushups and jumping jacks.

Patrick walked silently into the room, only meeting eyes with the instructor, Jade, before taking up a position off to the right, and sat down with his legs crossed. He closed his eyes, and listened to the movements of the others around him.

He thought back to the episode at the lake, with the Assingtonian, and the strange backlash the water gave in return. He was not happy either, for he himself had been also attacked, although he had done nothing.

He opened his eyes suddenly, and saw Xavier scanning the room, studying the students. He was the telekinetics professor, and was the one who used telepathy. So, Patrick directed his thoughts to him, unsure if the thoughts would actually be heard.

What is in the lake? Something is amiss on these grounds, and it bothers me greatly.

John entered the room and looked around, scowl on his face showing he was obviously not pleased with life today. He had been walking circles in and around the complex of buildings for the past hour or so, so he was plenty warmed up.

Looking around, he wasn't suprised he was late. While the supernatural teachers were unable to really read his mind, something was bothering him enough that he nearly forgot he had a class today.

Jimmy arrived through the Acrobatics class door at a reasonably fast yet slowing pace. Whilst the issue of the lake still pressed at his mind he realised there were more important things to focus upon now. Stopping a few inches before one of the walls, Jimmy immediately broke into a series of stretches. He was already warmed up from his morning run yet the value of stretching was not lost on him, he'd suffered the consequences of ignoring it.

Gazing around the room he noted Xavier and several other students, yet saw no sign of the teacher. At first he figured she was probably late yet immediately retracted that thought as he considered the supposed proffessionalism of this place.

It didn't take long before he spotted her, the Acrobatics teacher had made herself comfortable upon one of the beams placed within the room and sat there silently, waiting for something. Jimmy didn't say anything and merely approached Nicole.

"Got all the water out of your ears yet?"

Ooc: hey guys, read my description of the room. Thanks ^_^

IC:

As Nicole started to do push ups on one of the beams, her hand slipped, and she was sent tumbling down toward another beam. She stopped an inch before it, Xavier’s hand raised and stopping her from hurting herself, and she was raised back onto one of the beams. “Do be careful,” he said softly. “Class hasn’t even started yet and I’ve had to save you once already.” He continued to sip his coffee, clearly unamused at the arrogance of some. Xavier paid no heed to Patrick’s thoughts, though if he had heard them, he wouldn’t have answered.

Jade welcomed the students. “The only place you can really stand without worry is toward the entrance. There is about a one foot ledge there. If you should fall, our brilliant Telekenetics teacher will be there to assist you,” she glanced toward Xavier, who obviously was paying more attention to his coffee than Nya. “There are three different tiers of beams, at the bottom is water, cushioning you should you fall and Xavier not paying attention.”

John was still by the door, so he wasn't in danger of falling. He stepped back outside and removed his clothing down to what he wore in AVC, just the black trousers.

He then lept through the door, grabbed hold of a bar and litterally began loping around the bottom few levels, before spinning around one bar a few times and sending himself up to one nearer the top. There he hung, scowl gone. It was replaced by a grin again. He was having fun now.

Trevor walked quickly into the room, upset at himself for being late again. I really need to leave sooner for classes. His distraction almost caused him to step out over empty space, but he caught himself just in time. taking a moment to look down over the edge at the water below he calmed himself after his near fall, but resisted the urge to spit. He looked around at the other students and saw that most of them hadn't ventured out on the beams yet. This probably wasn't what they were expecting either.

Trevor reached down and removed his shoes, placing them beside the door. He figured that bare feet would be best for this sort of thing. He was also wearing a tightly fitting t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants that would allow him to move without weighing him down. He carefully placed one foot in front of the other and stepped out onto one of the beams. Might as well try to get used to this.

Nicole smiled at Xavier as he held her in mid-air.

"Thank you."

When she was placed on the beam, she crouched and made sure her fingers were also touching the beam; giving herself all the grip she could on it. She listened to Jade and watched as a student showed off his skill. Men...all the same. Probably compenstating for something. She thought with a grin.

Nicole dropped gently down onto another beam so she was with the rest of the group. She looked at Jimmy and smiled, her fangs clearly visible. Nicole had decided since most of the students would know within a few days what she was, no sense in hidding it.

"Unless I fall down into that water down there, I am as dry as the Sahara. How are you doing? Not every day one gets attacked by a lake."

Joshua entered the room in his normal casual outift of jeans and a t-shirt. This time he managed to turn up early unlike for his last class where he was a few seconds late.
The room was an unknown to him since he hadn't been in this class before yet he knew he wouldn't have to worry to much about the class.
He looked around studying the suroundings when he noticed several other students already in the room.
He paid little attention to them as he had already was preforming a diffrent task of looking for any little tricks he might ahve to catch on to.

Jimmy took note of the room as he stood upon the ledge near the beginning of the room. It was an interesting setup and he supposed it was appropriate for the class.

After almost falling, Nicole managed to get herself back onto the ledge and reply to Jimmy's comment, the humour obviously not lost on her. Whilst she was still a vampire, Jimmy was starting to develop a mutal respect for the woman. She was probably the closest thing to an Assingtonian in the school anyway.

"I'm not too bad myself. Whilst I must say that lake thing was a first, I think I'll stick to the pool for now. As far as I know, it doesn't bite."

At that point Jade began a small introduction, explaining the layout and why Xavier was here. It seemed fair enough, not everyone could lift their own weight through the air.

ooc: sorry for the delay. As strange as this may sound i couldn't find the thread.

Jade ran her right hand through her hair, and sighed softly. “Shall we begin?” she questioned in her look. She stretched her hands over her head. “An important part of acrobatics is balance and precision. If you aren’t able to do something accurately, than error is likely to follow. Everyone pick a level. I don’t care if you are on the same level as someone else. Jump down. Once you reach the beam, I will ask you to do a back flip. Extend your arms and push off with your legs, grab the beam with your hands on either side, land with one foot in front of the other. Do try and be precise, for it will need to be, and you can trust in that.”

She returned to her observation corner, and struck a haughty pose, dawdling on the images of the students, and watched who would be the first to do it the way that she wanted it done.

Patrick watched as the remaining students entered the room and took their positions on the rafters. At last, he stood and crouched slightly before leaping up clearly higher than any human was capable of and swung himself around onto the rafter's topside. He landed with an almost unnatural agility, yet he hadn't perfected his balance.

He listened as Jade instructed them on the first lesson and spoke up after she had finished, "I'll go."

He leapt down, easily catching his balance on the highest beam. He looked up to Jade and spoke, "Backflips are not my specialty, but I'll do what I can."

Reviewing her instructions through his mind, he took his position and began execution of the maneuver. His arms moved out to maintain his balance as he slightly crouched and flipped upward, his body pivoting as if on an invisible focal point. He landed decently, but naturally started to lower to his hands before he caught himself. He straightened and looked to Jade, awaiting her feedback.

With the instructions been given, Jimmy briefly nodded to the teacher before picking a beam out and making a slight jump, descending a meter or so before his feet firmly landed upon the ground. Whilst Jimmy had been very agile as a young boy, he had lost some of his technique due to lack of practive over the last century or so.

Jimmy's expression went blank as he went over the instructions, gathering an idea of exactly what he needed to do. Jump backwards and bring his legs forward to shift balance, then grab the beam to maintain his balance before allowing his legs to fall onto the beam once again. Sounded easier than it was.

Calming himself, Jimmy flexed his legs a little before making the necessary crouch and launching himself into the air, his head falling back as his legs moved upwards. Immediately Jimmy's outstretched hands grasped the beam as his head neared the wooden support and his legs swung over, beginning their downward arc towards the beam.

First leg connected. Good. Jimmy waited that brief moment for his second leg to connect with the support yet that time passed and he felt himself being pulled downwards. His foot had swung out and cleared the beam, bringing his left with it.

Not about to fall into the water below, Jimmy braced his arms upon the beam and pulled upwards before the rest of his body followed his foot. Thankfully it compensated for the falling weight and Jimmy was able to place his foot upon the beam, behind his other. Looking back up at the teacher, Jimmy flashed a slight grin.

"It's been a while..."

Nicole flexed and shook herself out as she readied herself. She dropped down and landed softly on a beam below her. Looking behind her, she judged the distance behind her ample for her to preform the task. Next, she looked around and spotted several beams she could grasp onto if she slipped.

Leaning back as far as she could go, she placed her right foot on a beam in front of her and pushed. She made an easy arc before and as her right foot neared the beam, it was off by an inch and she shifted it over an inch and didn't slip. Satisfied the tasked was completed, she crawled along the beams back to the center level.

“Good Patrick,” she said to the first student. “Though do try to steady yourself more during your landing. If you aren’t sure of your footing, you will probably be getting wet today.” She thought of it for a moment, and knew that half the students would be, and Xavier would slow the fall, but still let them drop. It would be quite amusing. She laughed at Jimmy’s comment. “Good, but don’t rely on your eyes to tell you what to do. When you reach with your arms, make sure you body is in alignment. “Nicely done, though I daresay don’t rely on your sight to complete this task. It would be better if you tried simply arching in a straight line instead of twisting, it will throw you off.”

Xavier sighed softly, “Why don’t you show them how it is done?” Jade smiled a bit, and walked along one of the beams, not even bothering to look at her footing. She stood at the other end of the room, her back to Xavier. She reached her hands over her head, swung them down and flipped back twice, the third time she flipped back, she did not let her hands touch the beam, and pulled her legs in as she rotated. She landed with her right foot slightly above the other, and was perfectly balanced. She took a few steps forward, jumped, and did a front flip, again landing perfectly, her gaze simply right in front of her. Xavier smiled a bit.

“We are just focusing on the first part right now, just a simply back handspring. It isn’t that hard, and you should get it today.”

there is no ground, only water below. there are three levels involved, each at a different height. you enter at the top.

Nicole blinked as Jade moved gracefully along the beam. The vampire hopped her own cooridination would yeild good results. Stepping foward she looked down below to the two levels of beams before her eyes hit the water. She hopped she wouldn't be the first kid in the class to fall. Nicole put her hand over her head and swung herself over.

She preformed two perfect flips, but when she did the last and final, she messed up. Just as her foot touched the beam, Nicole's momentum knocked her off balance and she fell. Nicole reached to grab for the beam but missed and fell towards the second level. Reaching out with her right hand, she just barely grasped onto a beam. Hanging there, chest heaving, she relaxed, trying to let the few seconds of excitment drain from her system.

She looked up.

"I'm okay!"

Trevor slowly walked out onto one of the beams on the top level. He set his feet, with the left out in front of the right, and rocked forward and back, shifting his weight from foot to foot, checking his balance. Finally, he bent his knees, and sprang into the air, arching his back and craning his neck to look for the beam below himself. His hands reached down and met it and he pushed off, continuing the flip and bringing his feet around to meet the narrow piece of wood. His knees bent as skin met wood, and he immediately launched himself backward again.

This time, however, he didn't seem to get as much push off with his hands, and instead of completing a graceful back handspring, he did about 3/4 of a back handspring, landing on his left knee. He immediately grabbed onto the beam with both hands as his legs slipped off and hung there, his legs dangling underneath, his upper body bent over the beam. After a moment of deep embarasment, he smiled in spite of himself. "Oops."

Joshua leaned back for a moment and quickly assessed the best tier to start on.
He decided on the second teir. He started by jumping up to the first teir and using the beam he landed on to help springboard him up to the second tier. He looked down and smirked at the reflection that greeted him.
He extended arms like asked and began to push off taking into acount to not use to much force. As he flipped he was sure to grab the beam and began to land one foot then the other foot before letting his leggs absorb the force of the landing.
"Well that could be harder," he muttered as he stood back up once again.

Jade watched them carefully, her curly blonde hair falling over one of her emerald eyes. She looked at Xavier for a moment, then to the students. “If you are ready to move on, and then come up to me. I’ll show you what to do next. This is an advanced class, so we will be moving quickly. It shouldn’t be that hard to do a back flip.” She muttered the last sentence under her breath, and waited heatedly for the students to finish the warm up.

Warmed up and a little more accustomed to such things once again, Jimmy leaned backwards and placed his hands upwards as he pushed off the beam and began the familiar backward motion once again. With practiced skill that seemed to emerge like a long lost memory, Jimmy's hands firmly grabbed the beam as if they had eyes of their own and his legs soon followed as they planted themselves firmly behind his hands before allowing him to stand once again.

With that done, Jimmy noted the teacher's instruction and quickly made the few quick leaps from the second tier to the first and then a position not too far from Jade. With that done he simply waited.

Jade looked at Jimmy, stepped foreward onto the tier, and tied a blindfold around his eyes. She smiled, though he could not see it. "I do hope you got a good bearing on the different beams. Use your precision to flip. The beam does not split of behind you, if you have perfect form, you will land perfectly."
Assington
02-09-2005, 13:37
Jimmy remained still as the blindfold was fixed over his eyes. This would certainly make things more interesting and probably result in him going for a dive. Nonetheless Jimmy flashed Jade a brief grin.

"Right, normal flip then."

Turning around slowly, Jimmy took a few steps forward slowly, feeling the beam below him. Whilst he had a good idea of the room layout, details such as the beam width and the sort had lapsed somewhat. Nevertheless he would try.

At least now Jimmy was a little more warmed up and into acrobatics this time and so didn't hesitate too much in taking action. Crouching slightly, Jimmy moved forward and pushed off with his legs to give him enough height to launch into the air and curl his legs up as he began his midair rotation. Jimmy's balance remained in order as his legs began coming down again, allowing a few seconds for the Assingtonian to extend before his feet collided with the wood.

One foot landed firmly upon the beam whilst the other landed half on the beem, half on nothing. Thankfully he was able to retain his balance with the use of extended arms. Expelling a breath, Jimmy spoke up once again.

"That what you want?"
Rave Shentavo
04-09-2005, 13:47
"Partially," she said softly. "But you should really be able to clear the entire length of beam with multiples. Try it, when you do, we will move on."

"Is anyone else ready?"
