Illingworth calls for a free Elsburytonia

Former member of the People’s Council Roman Illingworth has claimed that last month’s general elections were rigged to favor “close personal friends of the emperor”.

These revelations come to light as the Elburytonian Free Press uncovers yet more corruption in what can only be considered the closed circuit of Elsburytonia’s Government.

Several thousand Awes were found to be siphoned away from a defense project into several high ranking military and government officials’ bank accounts. To date no one has faced trial over these allegations.

“Unless you are a friend of the Emperor, either by birth right or capital you have no way of influencing the political outcomes of this nation,” Illingworth stated.

“I stood up to the Emperor on several occasions in the People’s Council and look at where it has got me. I’m unemployable in this nation because my name is on a black list. My house has been broken into on several occasions and the police claim they have been unable to find the perpetrators, in one instance I was accused of staging these attacks to raise my profile.”

Mr. Illingworth and many other former members of the People’s Council are urging the nations of the world to force the Emperor into recalling elections which need to be held in open forum to allow proper scrutiny of electoral procedures. They also call for the Emperors veto powers to be revoked. Currently the Emperor can veto any legislation passed by the People’s Council and has the power to veto the appointment of people to the People’s Council.

To date the Emperor has never used these powers. “He doesn’t need to, he has the entire system in his control. The People’s council is brimming over with the Emperor’s yes men and women, each of them clutching to their tenuous positions of power.”

In his time in the People’s Council Mr. Illingworth raised serious concerns about the Governments close association between the education department and the military, questioned the electoral system, developed a counter policy on land use and argued for greater assistance to those who are classified unfit for work.

“All I have ever done is stand up for common people in this nation. The time has come to topple this despot and institute a new popularly elected government.”

Comments made by Mr. Illingworth in the illegal publication the ‘Elsburytonian Free Press’ further highlight the desperation of this man.

Although he lost his seat in the People’s Council by over 1000 votes the man has no concept of when it is time to give up.

His unpopular and antagonistic policies where his downfall not some ramped up accusations of electoral skullduggery.

Does he really believe that the Emperor has nothing better to do than destroy his pathetic life? Let’s not forget that this is the Same Mr. Illingworth who argued against the capital punishment carried out on several pedophiles, one of whom attacked a 3 year old girl.

This is the same Mr. Illingworth who used his government funded car to visit his girl friend while his wife was in hospital following the birth of his third child.

This is the same Mr. Illingworth who has since left his wife and children in favor of his strumpet and the same Mr. Illingworth who now feels he is beholden to no one and declares a private war against the established ways of our society.

Mr. Illingworth, before attempting to restructure our way of life I suggest you get your own ‘affairs’ into order.

Republic Backs Election Recall in Elsburytonia
Assembly, Bradsworth call for true popular elections

IANAPALIS, Iansisle -- A full vote yesterday afternoon of the National Assembly overwhelmingly approved Premier Bradsworth's petition to call for true democratic elections in Elsburytonia.

Some have been surprised by the Gull Flag Republic's proactive stance regarding the proliferation of global democracy. Mr Bradsworth held a make-shift press-conference on the steps of #1 Jameston Place to explain the policy.

"Iansisle long suffered under an oppressive corporate-aristocratic axis," said Mr Bradsworth. "To allow another civilized people to suffer under similar circumstances while we did nothing would be pure ideological murder: it would cheapen the untold lives lost in the struggle against corporate fascism and the royal puppet."

To back the Assembly's decree, the Office of the Director of Foreign Affairs announced that it would be sending an agent to Elsburytonia to help Mr Illingworth negotiate the recall of an election stolen from its voters. Should the rightful petition be accepted, the Foreign Office also pledged itself to provide monitors for the upcoming election to insure honest results.

"To usurp sovereignty from the people is the greatest crime any state can commit," said Mr Bradsworth. "I, for one, hope that the Emperor can see the error of allowing personal and monetary influence to override democracy and come to an agreement with those whom he deems to be his subjects."

Special Communiqué

RE: Legality of Elections to the People’s Council

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please note that the elections held a month ago in the Holy Empire of Elsburytonia were legitimate expressions of the people for candidates they felt would best represent them in the People’s Council.

Mr. Illingworth has chosen to align himself with a group which is classified as an illegal organization under the ‘Society Act 1923’.

As a government we assert our right to govern this nation as we deem fit under God and the Emperor.

Just because one misguided individual has felt that they have been infringed does not mean that the democratic system of our nation is at fault but that the individual’s values system is questioned by their peers in the people of Elsburytonia.

The preferential system in Elsburytonia allows the most liked candidates to win over the most unliked.

For example, in the Northern Tarneit election which Mr. Illingworth faced the first votes were cast thusly:

Illingworth R. I. = 9751
Carson X. J. = 709
Wilson A. W. = 8990
Jobe Q. J. = 1789
Ki L. Z. = 5671

After the distribution:

Illingworth R. I. = 10124
Wilson A. W. = 16786 DECLAIRED WINNER

As you can see Mr. Illingworth’s primary vote was strong but not enough for him to win after distribution. Yes Mr. Wilson is a staunch supporter of the Emperor and he is the owner of a large metal recycling business.

These elements meant that Mr. Wilson was able to spend more of his money on a campaign than Mr. Illingworth and that the people of North Tarneit saw value in having a pro-Empire member representing them in the People’s Council.

Good day,

The Office of the Director of Foreign Affairs

Mr Mickadoze,

It is not normally the Republic's policy to interfere with foreign governments. However, the gross usurpation of the people's power evidenced not only in the limited official results which you have chosen to reveal, but also admitted in your recent letter has disgusted both the great citizens of Iansisle and their fairly elected Assembly.

The Republic is now seeking to send one Mr Howard Joelson, an agent of the Office of the Director of Internal Affairs, and his staff to review your election procedures, results, and campaign finance records. The people of Iansisle have no wish to see their brothers in Elsburytonia slip into tyranny without any official recourse. If all records are found to be in order and the election to be as honest as your government claims, a full and official apology will be issued.

However, if the result is as we suspect (or the inspection is refused) and the Emperor and his government still refuse to call new elections under Shieldian guidance, then the Republic will have no choice but to place Elsburytonia on its list of dictatorial states, with all the economic and diplomatic repercussions therein implied.

Mr. Rinehart,

Thank you for the concern you are displaying with regard to the recently held elections in Elsburytonia.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the generous offer to send representatives of your Government to ensure the proper order of elections in our fine nation.

I do however stand by the fact that the elections held recently were conducted in a proper and orderly fashion in recognition of the sovereign laws of Elsburytonia.

I reaffirm the statement that no impropriety was entered into by any official of the electoral office. I also reaffirm that the results of the election were purely due to the wishes of the people of Elsburytonia.

I wish to point out that the Democratic Movement in Elsburytonia is illegal. As is Amnesty International, Green Peace, UN related organizations and the Barney the Dinosaur Fan Club. The Emperor finds all of these organizations especially the latter ‘disturbing’.

I hope that the government of Iansisle can recognize our nation’s right to be governed by the current ordered arrangement.

I hope that our nations can maintain diplomatic contact so that our peoples can develop a greater understanding of each other’s culture.

Good day,

Joseph Mickadoze
Chief Electoral Commissioner
