End Religion

Morundor

For too long has the great nation of Morundor suffered under the tyrrany of the monster known as religion. Who is the church to tell the state what is "moral and proper" policy for us to enact? I propose an elimination of religion as a factor in society as a whole so that the people can focus on what really matters: serving me...um...the state.

The Empire of Galloism agrees with your assessment. Religion must be scrubbed so that the Empire may endure. We applaud you.

The Empire of Rodnez seconds that notion. Religion was for a time when rules, laws, checks and balances did not exsist. In the modern age we have these "moral guidelines" in place, no need for religious "law".

What laws you pass in your own domain is your own business, but it's hardly necessery to ban religion to establish a secular state.

Having in recent times experienced our own difficulties with the religious element, we extend our support, applause, and congratulation to Morundor and its people. Too long have quaint philosophies bound us, tying us to archaic tradition where the efficiency of industry and humanity offer us realistic solutions to real problems. Let us cast off our addiction to that particularly malicious narcotic, religion, and enter into a new era of sanity and full self-actualization.

The empire of Ravelyn Shentavo seconds that notion.

The Imperial Shogunate of Pschycotic Pschycos also thinks you're crazy. However, it being your nation, have fun and hope that the people don't come back and bite you in the..whoa, look at the time! Gotta find a war.

We no longer wish to be ruled by such nonsense as belief in a god active in human affairs or archaic traditions used to condition our responses to situations. In short, we no longer want our thoughts and minds controled by this poison!

Religion will be replaced with something much more simple and efficient to follow: my will! The only tenet of my will shall be as follows: does my course of action give me what I desire? If the answer is yes, then I do it. If no, then I don't. In either case, I am not hindered by such nuicences as "god's will" or "is it right?" or any other ridiculous precepts. In short, I replace whatever puny god (or pantheon of gods) that occupied those areas of society.

Leave the Queendom of Fleur Rouge out of this mandate. We support and encourage the freedom of religion in our country. Anyone who thinks they are so omniscient to be able to eliminate the worship of God deserves what they get.
Stanimir

Lord CABAL,

While the Republic of Stanimir does not share your views regarding religion, I feel that I must offer you some advice towards achieving your aim, if only in the interest of protecting your nation from what may develop into an all-out civil war.

You would do well to never underestimate the power of martyrs. When religion is outlawed in Morundor, there will be dissent, perhaps even blatant defiance. If you choose to imprison these rebels, or even to go so far as to execute them, you achieve nothing other than giving the believers a symbol to rally under. They will be filled with righteous anger, and even if your military comes out victorious in the end of the ensuing conflict, wounds will be left that will never heal, and your enlightened rule will forever be in danger of another uprising.

My humble suggestion is that if you feel so threatened by the religious elements in your nation, a better course than outright banning may be to disillusion its followers. Introduce a level of conspicuous corruption into the upper reaches of the religious hierarchy, then expose it; even use outright propaganda if necessary. The goal here is to discredit the Church in such a manner that its influence has virtually disappeared, both in popular thought and in the politics of your nation.

While I would never condone such acts, I fear that you mind is made up on the issue of religion, and that the best course of action would be to support the lesser of two evils. The Republic of Stanimir is staunch in its commitment to preventing bloodshed whenever possible, even on foriegn soil, and even when the compromise conflicts with some of our lesser national ideals.

Noble Leader,

While we at Cruxgrad share your personal opinion toward religion, it must be acknowledge that it has a purpose. Only recently have we assigned catholocism as our national religion, executing non-believers after the founding of the Inquisition.

Religion is now, and has ever been, an excellent method of controlling the masses without inciting rebellion. What better way to tell someone how to live their life than make them feel guilty and ashamed of their actions while being filled with faith in a mystical figure? Certainly, our benevolent and malevolent Imperator could act as such a figure, but while he is seemingly omnipotent, it is common knowledge he does not rule over this supposed Hell... *cough*

As such I feel that religion is a must in any nation, to control the masses and to fill their worthless lives with non-existant hope. Long live the shackles of faith.

Faithfully,
Sir Morin Varrock,
Minister for Religion and Civil Rights.
