New-Maine, Midlands, Allanea

The first cargo helicopters descended upon the two islands of New-Maine. Within minutes, a Confederate flag was planted on the tallest point on each island, claiming them immediately and forever as property of the Confederate States. Within days, the first settlements - a scattering of mobile home installations all over the islands - were set up.

Within a month, mining, fishing, and oil drilling operations began in New Maine, setting up the first Allanean economic base in the region.

Then, a message has been sent out:

My friends! It is an honour to me to invite all of you to visit Harbor, New Maine, the first Allanean city in The Kingdom of the Midlands. Perhaps it is not as big as Reichsburg or Port-Allanea - but it will provide you with all pleasures that you can expect in any civilised Allanean city.

Dear Friends!
We would like to meet with you at New Maine, or where-ever you feel would be most comfortable, to discuss the trader relationships of our two nations. Now, in an age when we again neighbour each other so closely in a new setting, we believe it is time to again re-evaluate the way our nations look at each other, and especially our trade.

Nexlon-The Ultimate Administrator of the newly established Ravean colonies in the Midlands-read through the Allanean note carefully. Being one of the leaders of a newly arrived nation as well, he thought that it might be wise to attend such a fuction...Nexlonm informed his officals and asked them to prepare a transport immedietly to Harbor, New Maine. He was going to find out what Allanea was all about. He quickly started to pen a letter.

"Dear Mr. Nexlon! I greatly respect your work and would be pleased to see you at my table."

The Governor smiled and looked out of the window, at the city - well, town - of New Maine. A modernised version of the Wild-West boom towns, it was perhaps not very big - and not intended to be big - but it would be the new seat of Allanean civilisiation in this area - and it would provide even the most sophisticated foreigners with all they wanted.

Boom towns do that.

Statement

Great and benevolent as we are, as well as a new resident in Kingdom of the Midlands, Holy Panooly finds the idea of new diplomatic connections worthy of our time. Up until now we've been quite reluctant to open up diplomatic channels with other nations, but seeing we've placed ourselved among nations of a different (diplomatic) calibre, we are almost obligated to respond to this. Though Holy Panooly isn't what you call a "stable power and a real diplomatic partner", we try to put all our effort into building solid relations within the Kingdom of the Midlands.
