These styles effect how many goals are scored in the match, the more defensive the two teams the lower the goals and vice versa. Of course Rank plays an important role here.

Starblaydia's In-Progress Under-21 World Cup FAQ

What it is:
The Under-21 World Cup (U21WC) (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Under-21_World_Cup), run by Total n Utter Insanity (TnUI), is for the younger Football (or 'Soccer') players of nations and uses its own ranking system. It is a good place to create and mould your World Cup players for the future, plus it's fun as scorelines can get quite high. The U21WC is seperate from the 'official' World Cup and does not count towards KPB Rankings (any more) as it is considered unfair for Networms with too much time on their hands to gain a substantial advantage over those who enter only the World Cups. Thirty-Two nations send their youngsters to TnUI every two years (going by the accepted norm that World Cups happen every 4 years, as in real life) to compete for glory.

In the grand scheme of the Nationstates World Cup the U21WCs start at the end of the WC Qualifiers and again at the end of the WC Finals, giving two U21WCs for every WC.

How it Works:
The thirty-two teams are divided into 8 Groups of 4, designated A-H. Each of the top Eight seeds are 'given' their own group, so the best teams are not able to knock each other out at the Group Stage. In this Group Stage, each team plays the other three teams in their group once, and the top-two go on to the Second Round where it becomes a straight 16-team knockout competition. Not only are the 1st and 2nd placed teams decided in the Final, but a Third-Placed Play-off Match also occurs.

Styles of Play:
The U21WC is almost unique in Sports Roleplaying as it allows teams to choose their Style of play from a list of six which will then impact upon their performance. You can choose a style to suit your nation's footballing-mentality, to match up performances with the formation your team would use, or perhaps just picking the 'best' Style to work the scorination system, the choice is yours, you must merely pick one when signing-up. The styles (and their basic effects are as follows:

* AOA - 'All Out Attack' - You may score a lot of goals, but your opponent will practically have an empty net to shoot at. Suitable if you RP your team in a 2-3-5 formation, for instance.
* ATT - 'Attacking' - Your team is inclined towards attacking play, scoring more but conceeding more. 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 is a good representation of ATT.
* NOR - 'Normal' - Most likely a standard 4-4-2 or similiar formation for a balanced style of play.
* DEF - 'Defensive' - A defensive-minded team. 5-4-1 or similar formations here
* AOD - 'All Out Defence' - If you like to sit in front of your goal and not take the ball into the opposition's half, this is for you. 8-1-1 perhaps?

And there is also the very random and near-suicidal (unless you have a high rank) mystery-style of:

* KAM - 'Kamikaze' - Just. Plain. Weird. Perhaps if your team have no idea what a football match is, or if they're just psychopathic, try KAM.

Roleplaying:
Roleplays in the U21WC have a huge impact on the Championships, although not in the 'usual' manner. Using a special system called Roleplay Ranks (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/RPR), which increases your rank for the next Cup with every RP you write, a consistent RPer in the U21WC over a number of cups can easily rise to the top of the seedings over a period of time, much faster than can be dreamed possible in the World Cup ranks itself.

"The RPR-system was developed by Total n Utter Insanity as replacement for both the ranking system and the system of RP-bonus. The ranks for one tournament are determined both on the performance as well as the amount of RPs in the previous cup. This means, that the RP-bonus is delayed to the next cup and newbs have difficulties doing well in their first cup. This kind of system didn't suit the World Cup as each cup lasted well over a month."

Roleplaying in one U21WC also has the benefit of automatically reserving you a place in the following Cup.

I'm sorry I do not understand why I'm not being allowed in.

My nation is not a "puppet" or anything like that with the Lardantuan nation, and I do not understand why this is going on. There was also some trouble involving Lardantuan on the World Cup sign up thread, and investigations showed I had nothing to do with them.

Lardantuan is my Geordie 11 year old cousin's team, who my brother introduced to Nationstates (he now regrets it), and who now is also having problems about being accused of being a puppet or whatever as well. Lardantuan means no harm, but if you're not allowing him in that's alright, but why should I not be allowed in??????? In the last World Cup U21 I Role-played and made the last 8. If you read my entries and Roleplays you will see they were obviously not written by the same person who wrote the Lardantuan stuff (with the capital letters and that in the wrong place).

Please can I be allowed back in, and with my ranking. I have done nothing wrong and I don't think it's fair that I'm punished because of my young cousin, who may be annoying and a bit immature but means no harm.

Lardantuan's spelling and the writing in his posts (and his general sillyness) contrast greatly with mine - so I'm not associated with him. I'm not a puppet of him, and he's not a puppet of mine. Compare my posts with his, they're obviously not from the same person.

STATES TO SIGN FOR UNDER-21 WORLD CUP

NEW MONTREAL - The Ministry of Morale announced yesterday that NMS will try to enlist in the Under-21 World Cup.

"Since our World Cup team is composed of high school students, this does leave a few questions as to who we might send to this tournament," said spokesman Claude Leblanc.

"Right now, we are leaning towards sending primary school students, to season them up for their turn in the World Cup."

The Ministry appointed Philippe Jean-Rene head coach of the Under-21 schools, who will be announced shortly. An unconfirmed report indicates that a preschool academy will be amongst the schools selected.

Jean-Rene is a controversial figure in NMS sport. He has at times sent his team onto the field on pogo sticks, dressed as cartoon characters, and wearing nothing but boxer shorts and ridiculous hats.

His first press conference was something otherworldly, as when asked what his priorities were for his players, he replied: "I must ensure that they are familiar with the works of Judas Priest, Van Halen, and other 80s rock bands."

When asked what sort of formation he would use, he told a reporter to consult a Magic 8 Ball.

According to some strange regulations in the declaration of semi-independence of Communist Rejistania, this U21 team will be from Communist Rejistania, which is officially a part of Rejistania, however was untouched from the revolution. The stone-age commies will use stone-age tactics: AOA.

OOC: Let me just say that currently, you don't have much say in the running of WC24 - none of us do except Druida, Krytenia and Bedistan (WCC President). I don't share your belief that they are the same person, even if there is such a possibility. The gap's too big; anyone who'd want to write that badly would need some sort of *shudder* skill. The question isn't "Could a careless 11 y.o. write that well?" but "Could a twenty-something deliberately write that poorly?"

Yes a 20 Something could delibrately write that poorly, but who cares, if they are the same person they are the same person, if they are not they are not, theres no reason not to let the one of them that actually contributes to the cup stay in it, no use throwing out a perfectly good RPer just because they have an incontrollable 11 year old side, it would only make them *more* antsy.

I am not sad enough to make another country and write badly on purpose just to get another team in. And besides, if I was trying to enter another team a tournament, which I'm NOT, then why would I be stupid and attract attention to myself???? It would make more sense just to write normally and no one would think twice. Stop trying to stir and get people thrown out of competitions. Your just doing it because you know Jon Parkin are a good team in this tournament, and you just want teams thrown out to give you a better chance of winning it.

I apologise for my previous post, it had been a long day and I jumped to conclusions, so I am sorry.

But I was just a bit frustrated because I thought that the situation had been sorted out with my cousin, and I was frustrated that I was being drawn back into it. I do not have any puppet nations or am a 'puppeter'.

My cousin, who is in charge of the nation in question, Lardantuan/Barry's Wife, is just getting a bit excited and carried away with Nationstates. He means no harm, and that is why he has asked for his team to be withdrawn. He has broken the rules, which I doubt he had a clue about, but he is trying to make ammends as he has withdrawn Barrys Wife and asked for it to be deleted, and Lardantuan was deleted.

I apologise on my cousin behalf for making these threads bitter, angry and complicated, but he is trying to put it right.

To provide an objectional point of view, Lardantuan was not deleted by request, but after repeatedly breaking rules that the user was informed of and asked not to break, then they continued to do the same things anyway...

Honestly - I was under the assumption that they were just friends. Come tomorrow (I am about to go to bed now, so not now), if it hasn't been done so already, this matter of SH/TJD will definately be investigated further. If they are found to be one and the same person, they will be immediately expunged from WC24, and hopefully will not be allowed back into any other future World Cup affilited tounaments like the Under-21s.

Furthermore, looking at the region the two share, the two do appear to talk to each other as if they are different people. But then, it could just as easily all just be one really stupid person.

Although the rules on puppets aren't written in stone, it goes along the lines of the World Cup puppet rule. You have to be in at least one cup to get one extra puppet. Non-RPing puppets are replaced by full nations in the signup, RPing puppets however get their place reserved. You should declare your puppets, failure to do so and me finding out will incure a wrath the likes of which you have never seen. Well known puppets don't need to declare. Aka NB, Turori, AR, AS, etc.

My brother and I went to my cousins while the 18 Under 21 World Cup, which I was in, and the Baptism of Fire, which my brother was in, was being contested. My cousin(shearer etc) was there at the time and got a bit excited. Another of my cousins was there and I am now led to believe that Jam Doughnut is my other cousin.

Both of these people are Under 11, so sooner or later their intrest will fade and they will move on to something else and they will find a different crase, so the tedious long sign ups and RP's will get a bit shorter.
