Florrisant States

OOC: I found interesting research from acting on an interesting NS issue.
[Deborah Clivan, Commonwealth Cable News service]: In today's speech, Max Pfennig the Foreign Secretary of the Florrisant States criticized legislation in the neighboring Protectorate of the Ehrlichites, a law that Mr Pfennig says is a severe and destructive blow to the civil rights of women in the Protectorate.

[Max Pfennig]: The Ehrlichites should not subject their women to third class and unhealthy activity such as prostitution. Not only do they plan to legalize the bordello, they will make prostitution mandatory. This legislation denies women the right to protect their body and health. It will destory the respect women have earned as professionals and quicken the spread of new strains infectious disease. Any questions?
[Walter Kludge, The New Day]: Will you tell us why you oppose legislation that the Ehrlichites believes will protect the environment while enhancing economic growth and foreign trade?
[Max Pfennig]: On one hand, it is ridiculous to assume that sexually transmitted infections spread by prostitution are a benefit to the environment. Used condoms on the other hand, are not biodegradable. (muffled laughter from the audience)
[Umi Strauss, CCN]: Do you believe that Sustainable Prostitution will worsen the impact of the refugee problem on states neighbor to the Protectorate?
[Max Pfennig]: The international services have a comprehensive medical triage program already in place surrounding the Ehrlichites Protectorate. I spoke with the director this morning and she does not believe any additional resources will be necessary.

[Deborah Clivan, Commonwealth Cable News service]:
From The Ehrlichites foreign minister, here is the legislation causing the uproar.
[Tony Jin Wong: Ehrlichite foreign minister]:
A few weeks ago, the Ehrlichites hosted an Eco-tourism Conference - one of the many held over recent years in an attempt to develop a tourism industry which is in harmony with the environment and beneficial to local people. Sex is a human need and prostitution is here to stay, we should think about a pro-active and realistic approach to deal with the situation. Therefore, The Ehrlichites Protectorate has created sustainable prostitution (SP) in order to transform inevitable prostitution into a more responsible and beneficial industry that also respects environmenal law. Under properly planned and managed conditions, SP has the potential to make positive contributions to community development and environmental protection. Most importantly, it can also empower poor and underprivileged women
