Basically what the title says, really. I've been short on active threads lately, and the current top-of-the-NS-forum fare doesn't seem quite what I'm looking for.

So, does anyone want a fairly obscure 2003 nation in their RP?

I can do modern (if you're willing to accept nonhumans as modern), near future, fantasy, future, (please, no Star Wars- I'd like at least a bit of originality), and steampunk (!). Of those I'd say mild FT (no OMG UBAR SPACEFLEETS) is probably my favorite, with near-future coming in a close second.

So, anyone want to give a bored RPer a thread?

That's my sort of intro thread. My nation's going to start out mining asteroids PERMANENT (permanent.com) style. That part I can speed up. Then once it gets enough material in Lagrange 5, we'll start building a small fleet of vessels and testing a short range FTL drive.

Not sure where to go from there... Perhaps my test vessel offshoots into your territory? I'm not sure.

An encounter in the asteroid belt would work. I'll wait until your mining expedition arrives there.

Alright. I already have Hermes One moving out to the Aten Belt, which is closer to Earth, but I'll send Hermes Two through in a bit (got to work out L5 stuff with Bryn so I can set up my shipyard/factory there.)
