OOC: I'm back...again. Anyway, this is basically my attempt to return to the fundamental reason I created this nation: to be elfy. I hope that this time I can actually RP and keep things interesting rather than get bored. I sort of miss this anyway. I'll be posting official government stuff soon announcing the revival of the Erasat and whatnot.

And I do intend to carry on with my hopes of creating another VERITAS Summit among other projects. So, erm, yeah. Read away!

IC:

The skies of Luín Anarórë turned black after the War of Etaros, the terrain completely marred and utterly destroyed.

The capital of Etaros, New Itaros, was transformed into scorched earth of glass and death.

The forests of Etaros, so very rare, were annihilated. The towns and villages, so serene, were raped, sacked, and pillaged. The people, once prosperous, were destitute.

The democracy, the Congress, the seeds of hope were ripped from the ground and scattered into the fiery winds of Hell, never to be returned to life again. In their place a ruthless king, Ërmos, put his power to rest. And thus did begin the Second Dynasty of the Erasat.

Generations to come will remember the scenes of flames shooting from their homes, the smoke in the distance floating into the blue skies, and then later on the blackness of above. Sickness, disease, and hunger were now known to the Etarosi. Anarchy, rebellion, and constant revolt were common in the War of Etaros. The destruction was dealt with in the hearts of people, the sadness rained harder than the black tears of the sky. More poisonous than the rain was the extent of defeat across millions of towns and villages. Major cities were completely obliterated. Such nuclear devastation had naught been seen in the history of men or elves.

Kinslaying among elves became common, cursing the dark countryside further. No man or elf could ever sing joyfully again in the accursed land, to be forsaken by orcs and the like. Evil was widespread and could not be stopped. Death was inevitable. The Second Dynasty was ruled not by an elf, but an evil impersonator. Ërmos Eledhwen has forever received the name Black King. His oppression was unending, unstoppable. Those who tried to revolt were not killed, but utterly destroyed and kept alive. Those who tried to flee were mangled in the worst of ways. Human men, women, and children were beheaded, flogged, and sent to the worst of torture chambers.

Nomadic voyages across the countryside under a consistently dark sky were pointless. Millions of Etarosi died trying to forage the land for what it was worth, for it was worth nothing. The only place where one could eat and live in constant darkness and despair with no worries of life and death was Hokigur, capital of the Second Dynasty.

For a decade this continued, with no end in sight. Then a rabble of men plotted to destroy the Black King, and they did so. A mere dozen Men stormed the palace of Hokigur and killed all the elf-impersonators that lived there.

Within a year, the land was returned to strength and vitality. The skies were cleared of blackness, and returned to blue. Beautiful rainbows dotted the areas over which the most destruction and death occurred. People began to slowly return to life as it was, and life as it should be. They gathered together and formed small villages once again, some of which turned into large, bustling towns. Others evolved into bustling cities and ports, and one such city became the capital of the Erasat. Anartirios, or City of the Sun, was established on the Eastern coast, roughly a thousand miles south of New Itaros, the charred remnant of the Second Dynasty.

In Anartirios, the sun always rises on the horizon of vast, opaque water, and all interior walls in the city's many buildings upon which the sun touches are painted golden, so that it may reflect and alight the entire room in a solar glory. The city itself is planned and massive, with enormous boulevards and beautiful white stone towers dotting the cityscape. The central business district is glass in totality, but private companies and corporations have taken it upon themselves to taint the glass of their skyscrapers in a variety of colors, so when the sun rises and sets, the effect is truly amazing. Various shades of reds, greens, blues, and even the few clear sparkle, providing further for a dazzling city upon a quaint beach.

Almost all buildings in Anartirios are built of stone, though there are some of brick and wood. Wood, however, is very rare within the Erasat, and so its usage is regulated. In fact, the timber industry is the only state-owned in the entire nation so that wood is harvested in a very conservative, careful way. The city's streets are cobbled stone, though major roads and highways are paved with concrete. The use of asphalt is unknown except in the most rural of areas, and great care is taken to ensure roads do not wear quickly or buckle.

In the new capital rests a new government, of course, made up primarily of elves declared to be something of nobility. They form the High Council, upon which they propose laws to the Sovereign who may accept or refuse them. The High Council is a body of its own, and has been established to create a tradition of rule in the Erasat. The High Council is made up of a number of Committees whose jobs are to oversee a specific area of Etarosi government and make sure that corruption is kept in check. The Erasita of the Erasat is Liëssa nós Fingolfin, an elf of four millenia and devoted to maintaining the serenity and peace of the Elves. Her undying love of the Elven ways has ensured that she will rule not with an iron fist, but a white palm to embrace all of the elves and men of Etaros. Her first decree was to declare that the growth of forests be increased tenfold, thus sparking a nationwide effort to revitalize the charred and scorched lands of the War. She has visited the countryside far and wide, inspected cities and towns and villages, and taken part in the vast effort to rebuild and restructure the nation. It was Liëssa that rid herself of traditional Elven dress and got down on her knees in common overalls to help hammer wooden huts together in a quaint village in the center of Etaros. She also dedicated her time to overseeing the construction of a shipyard at which to develop and produce a new navy for the Erasat. Under her rule, she also intends to spur the development of gravships. Though a staunch believer in peace, the Erasita is a firm believer in defense from attack. She understands that a friendly handshake and peace treaty will not always satisfy the greedy, and thus is completely prepared for betrayal. Some rumor that she is driven to paranoia after the War of Etaros in which Ërmos betrayed his brethren and enforced a policy of murder and kinslaying. Regardless, the Erasita of the Erasat is no doubt a wise choice for the absolute leader.

In the realm of international affairs she wishes to be very active and positive. She has already moved to support VERITAS further than the previous rulers, and is taking steps to officially claim territorial holds in Haven. (It is her concern that nations residing within the region may take advantage of the apparent lack of order in the Etarosi territory.) She has promised that never again will a sovereign be placed in charge of any province or colony again, that a provincial governor will be appointed by the Sovereign, and the governor must yield all power to him or her. The yielding of armies, navies, etc. is forever to be in the hands of the Sovereign alone. The lessons of the War of Etaros are too deep, too painful to understand for outsiders.

In space, the Etarosi fleet that was created a decade or two ago was ordered destroyed by Ërmos. Therefore, the prospects of an Etarosi galactical fleet yielding power and clout has been obliterated for a long time to come. In consequence, the Erasat has been forced to cancel plans to buy space on the Machiavelli Station, a branch of the Dread Dominion of Nathicana. However, Liëssa has noted with great concern the former sovereigns did little to nothing to increase or maintain activity within the Knootian International Stabilisation Treaty or the Trade Network Association. She has promised to encourage Etarosi businesses to export to nations in both blocs.

The Third Dynasty of the Erasat has thus begun, after little more than a quarter of a century of Etarosi existence. It is not only desired, but dreadfully hoped by the Etarosi people that this Dynasty be everlasting, without end, and without shame, death, or destruction.

"Beloved, leave me be. I must think a while," whispered a melancholy Calatári. Her maid, a thin youth of several hundred years, bowed respectfully and left the room quietly. The snap of the door traveled to the ears of the Elf Queen, who closed her eyelids in the same instant. Upon opening them, her oblong head turned softly to the open window to her right, the wind lifting her soft, black hair into a slow ritual of dance. The sun, bright and virgin, reflected out of her sensitive icy blue eyes, and she turned away before they could hurt. In deep thought, she twirled her frail and pale hands together in her thick hair, tying a braid. She had done this for thousands of years, and only used a maid as her hands sometimes tired of the intricate work. As she continued twirling, tying, and knotting, she thought of the tremendous work ahead of her. In her mind, a million voices raced, filling a mental calendar of things she must achieve quickly. The golden wall to her left radiated brilliantly, leaving a very peaceful and quaint atmosphere that intensly relaxed her. She smiled softly at the thought of the people she had met in the simple fishing villages on the streams of central Etaros. Her hands continued their work with the hair, as they had worked on fishing boats and huts to restore life to a dead nation. The Calatári, or Queen of Light, was not only the leader of her people for eternity to come, but also a simple elfmaid, thrust into a position of power by her Noldorin friends. Her modesty appealled to them, and her decisive nature intrigued them deeply. She took the job not with glee, but with resignation and confidence. Liëssa nós Fingolfin was not one to attempt to achieve power, she just simply achieved it.

As she finished her braids, she stood and placed the small traditional elven crown upon her head which held a single shard of cut mithril to signifty purity. The metal glazed beautifully, and she smiled once again into the mirror upon the wall. Turning to the door, she beckoned her servants to reenter, and they did at once. Also waiting outside the door were her guards, elven men and women dressed in black paramilitary suits and armed with pistols and the most advanced rifles in the Erasat. All were required to have shortly cut hair, and all were extremely fit. They quickly formed two columns, with the Calatári walking in between in the middle, and her advisors walking ahead. Her three servants walked behind, thus providing a safe box in which the elf queen could walk through the palace. She feared at all times the resurrection of Ërmos or his followers, and thus had guards placed in excess inside the palace and around it. She traveled across the Yánalassë to the opposite side, which housed her office. After arriving at her door, her advisors entered and made sure the room was empty, upon which she followed behind, and her servants followed behind her. Two of the guards entered the room and stood at the door, the other four stood outside the door standing post.

As she moved to her large, oak desk, she sat upon her executive chair and looked at the monitor, which was more of a digital touch-screen newspaper. Prepared for her was a daily report of national and international news, as well as important messages. She saw that she had no new messages, and thus turned from the desk and rolled to the hologram table next to her. She pushed a small blue button, and typed in an elaborate acess code that took a full twenty seconds to enter. The hologram came to life, and it projected upwards a three-dimensional image of the map of Etaros. She entered coordinates for the shipyard a few hundred miles north of Anartirios. Live satellite imagery showed video of the shipyard's construction. Over thirty warships were being built at a rapid pace, and a neighboring commercial shipyard was churning out hundreds of merchant vessels, fishing boats, and a variety of other ships. The merchant vessels were regulated to have sails and be constructed in strict, traditional elven fashion. Their motors and engines were intricately hidden as to give the impression that the ships were spurred on by wind alone. After reading specifications, she nodded with satisfaction and sent a brief letter to her Overseer of Commerce (This letter was written by the Calatári speaking into a small microphone that extended from the holographic projector, and the text displayed in front of her on the hologram as she spoke. She then confirmed she wanted to send the letter to a specific location by typing in an email address on a small pad located near the assortment of buttons which commanded different things to the hologram.), who held power over the shipbuilding, as well as over trade routes and airlines within the nation. She instructed him to increase production by 25%, and to inform the workers that they would be receiving an extra day off for their splendid work. The Calatári then pushed another button, which led her back to the map.

Within the course of an hour, she had sent letters to all her Overseers, instructed increases in military recruitment, construction, education spending, regulation of maritime rules for domestic ships, blueprints for new hospitals, the construction of a new airport, and more. The Calatári then turned to her most monumental task: foreign affairs.

She set work to writing a letter to the international community to inform them of her rise to power, among other things.

Official Letter from the Calatári of the Erasat of Etaros

Greetings,

It is my joy and duty to inform the international community that I have assumed power in the Erasat in an attempt to revive it to its former glory, or further. A number of issues are to be resolved in the coming months, but I ask that all those who have had relations with Etaros be patient. Our former leader of glory is dead, as well as his traitorous son, and we have just risen from a dark age of fear and oppression. I do not expect our return to be greeted with all happiness, but I encourage all to be warm in the spirit of friendliness. Among issues, I seek to resolve the current coldness of relations with several nations, as well as reaffirm our right to territory in Haven, though it is currently in a charred and destitute state. I also seek to embrace our friends and allies more than ever before. The alliances and trade blocs that we are in must gain our devoted membership once again, so that we may all move forward in general peace.

With more to come, I bid you farewell for now.

The letter to the International Community at large had been sent to the appropo place in the Herpetological Empire. To the Guaah DiploOffices on Sol III, where it was received by Ambassador Bosska, the eyes of the Emperor on Earth. He adjusted his bifocal glasses and read silently. After perusing the message, he forwarded it to Emperor Gorrm's private mobile on Sslaa V with a bit of notation to it.

To my Liege,

This may present an opportunity to re-open ties with acquaintances grown stale and lethargic to us. I know you have pondered the viabilty of VERITAS to us, as the humans and the elven-kind who seem to 'run the show' as they say do not have a common footing with us with which to understand each other better. Perhaps this would be a good time to try and rectify that?

Your humble servant,
Ambassador Bosska

Gorrm read both the original message in his private chambers as well as the notations made by his Ambassador. "Haven. I remember that incident. It was so cluttered with peoples that we had to pull out to retain our sanity." He stands, mobile in hand, and paces about his chamber a bit. Perhaps it is a good time to try and re-esablish relations with the soft-skins. Hrmmmm....Bosska seems to think so, and his advice has rarely steered me astray. Hrrmmmm....very well.

Good cycle to you,

Indeed, I am in agreement with a portion of your letter. The alliance has grown stale, and threatens to fade into little more than an ideal in memory. You will have my support in attempting to re-establish yourselves, and the support on my Court and Subjects. I convey acknowledgement of your herpatra in the taking of authority and the impetus to attempt to mend old ties.

I will await your next comm.

C’tani Elenaran promises aid to Etaros

In a move that has not surprised many of Tephet-Sheta commentators, the Imperial Ministry of Overseas Development and Financial Assistance, led by former Princeps Koloth has announced that due to connections via VERITAS, around fifteen percent of this years aid budget has been allocated towards operations in Etaros. This spending will come to a total of just under two hundred and fifty billon credits. Projects sponsored by this money are estimated to include education and medical programmes including C’tani staff where possible, as well as redevelopment of Etarosii infrastructure.

Calatári accepts C'tani aid package, "grateful" for help

Anatirios, Etaros -- In an expected move today, the Calatári accepted a C'tani aid package for healthcare and educational services, numbering around two hundred and fifty billion C'tani credits. The aid package is the largest ever received in Etarosi/Lietuv history, and certainly will have an astounding impact, according to professors at the University of New Hvittsted. "The C'tani effort appears to be not only a move to garner Etarosi support for the Necrontyr Empire, but also a move to signify they are willing to support a new Etarosi leader," comments Robert Vichard, an economist who regularly lectures at UNH.

Official word from the Yánalassë appears to be extremely pleased. "I accept the C'tani aid package with glee, joy, and a grateful nature. Without the assistance of our close ally in VERITAS, our growth surely would have been stifled by a decade, if not more." Futher, she went to say, "Perhaps I was erroneous in earlier remarks about the state of the alliance. The C'tani have proven to me that the alliance is very much alive and active, that all is necessary is more interaction at the highest levels between allied states. The Elenaran has my word that Etaros will assist him wherever he needs help, and whenever. In gratitude, I also send cut stone relics of Eledhwen Palace to the Elenaran. These bits of the outer walls are the whitest and most pure within all the Erasat, and I hope that he will find them to be a great joy as our previous righteous ruler did."

The aid package comes on the eve of a new VERITAS Summit, the Summit of Ninquesar, to be held in the Yánalassë. Prospects of closer interaction between all VERITAS states seems to be increased after this move of support from the Eternal Necrontyr Empire.
