It's the J and L show in Group F of U21C18
It's that time of year again! No not Christmas, the U21 Championships. Version 18 is up and starting, the 8th seed Jeruselem have been draw in Group F for Fun. All teams start with J or L oddly.
We know nothing about Jon Parkin but Liverpool England (or the "Junior Terminators") as we name them are here as well as the 14th seed Liamist States with their wacky news feeds (weirder than ours). Looking at the group, the only real threat is Liamist States.
Jeruselem will be in their regulation 4-4-2 formation and hopefully making it past the quarter-finals this time.

PARTY TIME!!!
JON PARKIN ANNOUNCED IN SQUAD DUE TO REGENERATION!
In a press conference today, the Most High Deity, Jon Parkin announced his 16-man squad to take part in the 18th Under 21 World Championships. A key inclusion was the Emperor himself, who, as rumoured, had to specially regenerate for this match so he will be Under 21. Many of the players have come through the ranks of Bollington United, the champions in Jon Parkin. The Under 21 side is the same side that plays in normal competition so this country has great things to come.
THE STAFF
MANAGER - BRIAN HORTON
A good friend of the Emperor from his days at Macclesfield Town, Brian is one of the few managers to reach 1000 competitive games, with spells at Hull City, Oxford United, Manchester City, Huddersfield Town, Brighton and Hove Albion, Port Vale and Macclesfield. His vast experience and tactical knowledge will be a key advantage for the players.
ASSISTANT - JOHN ASKEY
COACHES - RICK MOTTERSHEAD
PHYSIO- PAUL LAKE
THE SQUAD
1. 'THE BROADHURST MONK'
Nobody knows his real name, but the 'Monk' was a suprise inclusion, due to him having to be release from prison to enter the training camp. The 'Monk' caught the Nations eye when the guards famously played the cons, captained by Danny Meehan. He was extradited to Jon Parkin, and has now been here long enough to play. He is a great natural talent with fantastic shot stopping ability, but his weakness lies in mad runs up field, and his disciplinary record, as he was banned from football in England for fly kicking the whole opposition squad with his mad kung-fu. In Jon Parkin he plays for Mean Machine, set up by The Monk and Danny Meehan, they are an infamous team and have caused many injuries.
2. RALPH LITTLE
The star of the Royle Family as Anthony, his passion has always been football. And after his man-of-the-match performance for the Celebs in Sky One's the match, Brian Horton snapped him up to play for Jon Parkin. Playing at right back, his pace, dribbling and solid defensive abilities make him a key player in the squad.
3. WALLACE 'THE BIG CHEESE'
A fan of Preston North end, Wallace has left his beloved Gromit who plays upfield for the nation, Wallace is a solid defender, not great at going forward but a useful member of the squad. His sponsors are Wensledales', which suits him as he gets a free life time supply of Wensledale, but would like to have a cracker sponsor.
4. OSCAR 'THE GROUCH' ALVAREZ
From a very poor background, Oscar's heart warming story of rising from his squalid conditions to playing for his national side is ledgendary among the people of Jon Parkin. Before Jon Parkin became ruler, he lived inside a bin and had no possesions. But ever since Jon Parkin came into power, he has been given a second chance, for absolutely no one has poverty in the Holy Empire of Jon Parkin. Jon Parkin is the best leader we could ever hope for. God bless Jon Parkin.
5. PETER SPINKS
The captain of local champions Bollington United, Peter Spinks is a centre half, who commands the back line. Although he is not the quickest in the squad, although he has been working on his fitness in the build up, his footballing brain, aerial ability and crunching tackles make him an essential member of the team. He is an attacking threat from corners.
6. DANNY MEEHAN
The captain of Mean Machine as they took on the cons in England, was another one of the players, along with the Monk, who caught the eye of Brian Horton and was extradited here, where he set up Mean Machine, who were recently promoted to the Premier League. A fierce competitor and a great ball winner, he has formed a great partnership with Matt Bassirat.
7. KEVIN TONKINSON
The Geordie who loves his booze, thought that his career was washed up, but the faith shown by Mike Bassett during his time as England manager was noble, although many thought stupid at the time. 'Tonker' did repay him in the end with a goal in the last minute against Argentina. But after being banned from playing football in England in the FA, due to a drunken Tonker getting in a fight with the referee. FIFA then allowed him clear to play for other countries, and Jon Parkin were the only nation to take the risk. Brian Horton and the people of Jon Parkin will be hoping it pays off.
8. JON PARKIN (C)
A living ledgend, ruler and God of the Nation. The hopes of the people of Jon Parkin, will mainly rest upon his shoulders, which he probably can handle due to his enormous size of 6ft 4, and weighing in at 13st 7. Although he does not have electric pace, his aerial ability is second to none and can provid a moment of magic trickery. If he is on form, who knows what may happen for the nation.
9. DAVID MURPHY
Another young player who has starred for years in the youth set up of the champions Bollington United. For years he has proven to be a top goal scorer, and versatile for ha played up front, in midfield, defence and in goal for the champions. He will play just behind Parkin and feed on flick-ons from JP. His pace and skills will do the rest.
10. MATTHEW BASSIRAT
An ex referee in England, he cam across to Jon Parkin and has forced his way into the team. He will play in the centre of midfield and is easily noticeable for he wears Davids like glasses. A midfielder who is likely to get forward and provide an attcking option, Matt is a useful member of the squad.
11. GROMIT
Gromit is the quietest member of the team and is very loyal. He is the type of player who will never give up on a ball, and chases down players. He is known to occasionally be dirty, and literally nibbles away at your ankles. He is not an aerial presence, but four legs is an advantage, for players do not know which leg he is going to use as he is quadruple footed.
THE SUBS
12.GARBH GALLAGHER
The young tricky left winger of Irish descent is a very hot prospect for the future, and his club Team GB, where he plays alongside Rhodri Jones. Team GB are in the First divison and have turned down big money bids from Premier League big guns like Bollington United for Garbh. A player with good pace and an excellent cross and corner make him a useful player off the bench.
13. DARRYL JORDAN
Darryl was the first choice keeper for the nation, but is playing second fiddle to the Monk at the moment, but is likely due to get a piece of the action as the Monk will no doubt get sent off once in this tournament. A good safe goalkeeper, he was unlucky not to feature in the starting line up.
14. RUFUS SMALLS
The striker who after blowing a penalty over the bar, lost his form for Jon Parkin for many years. Brian Horton has shown faith in Rufus, and all of Jon Parkin is waiting for 'Smallsy' to get back to his prolific goalscoring, and his best.
15.RHODRI JONES
Like many of the other players originally from the UK, Rhodri the 'Dragon', due to being from Wales, moved across to Jon Parkin, as he could not find a team. He was snapped up by the First Divison side Team GB, which is made up entirely of people emigrated from the UK. He is a solid centre back, and has bags of pace.
16. CHEWBACCA
Standing at over 7 ft Chewbacca is a useful member of the squad. He is a centre-back with great aerial ability, but slow in body and mind. If you are trailing late on though he is a good emergency striker for knock downs and corners.

JON PARKIN HITS BACK AT JERUSALEM
In a press conference today Jon Parkin hit out at claims by Jerusalem Manager Bob Devis that the nation was not a threat to the Eigth seed. In a statement Jon Parkin said:
"Underestimate us at your peril Bob. We may have never competed on the international arena before, but we are a good team and we will work for each other. We have something to prove in this tournament, while you have nothing to prove, you have done it all before. We are coming to this tournament and we will be backed by our whole nation and all the many (cough cough) Macclesfield Town fans that there are in the world backing us. We are the underdogs, and we relish that, we can not go wrong, nobody expects us to do anything. Sure, write us off Bob, but if you lose its your head on the block. The pressure's is all yours, BOB, enjoy it."
Later he also wished good luck to Starblaydia Manager Khim Azanulbizarnm during the tournament.

RE: Jon Parkin snub?
We are surprised at the hypersensitive nature of the Jon Parkin management towards the innocuous write-off of the team Jon Parkin U21C18 team. This type of statement is part and parcel of our coverage the World Cup and the U21 Championships in JGN and our prediction service for the U21 is even more controversial but accepted.

Hypocria - Under 21 World Cup 18 Squad
Coach
Boubacar Dragov (P12 W9 D0 L3)
Former Crystilakere Under-21 coach who was sacked after his side lost all their group games at Under-21 World Cup 15. Appointed by Hypocria shortly afterwards and led them to the quarter finals at World Cup 16 and to a third place finish two years ago, which included a 4 - 0 victory over his former employers.
Starting 11
1. Stephen Drakes (Tarsis Wonderers)
Athletic young keeper who has taken over the reins from Alex Derevko. Established himself as first choice at Hyper League side Tarsis Wonderers. Conceded just 4 goals in his 7 games at the last U21 World Cup.
2. Ryan Steiner (Dynamo Rasium)
A right back who was an ever present last season for a Dynamo Rasium side that finished in a very impressive fourth place in the Hyper League.
3. Andy Gabbidon (FC Hypocrium)
Young left back who has established himself in the first team at FC Hypocrium. He has 7 U21 caps.
5. Marius Black (Partizan Drissa)
Defensive utility player whose performances domestically earnt him a pre-season move to Partizan Drissa. Broke into the senior national side last season and helped them to a second place finish in the AOCAF tournament. This is his third (and last) U21 World Cup and he will captain the side.
6. Tony Webber (Thraxus Rangers)
Looked an excellent prospect when playing for his club side last season and will be looking to re-establish his good defensive partnership with Black for a second U21 tournament.
4. Demetrius Costa (FC Hypocrium)
Highly rated young midfielder who made just one substitute appearance at the last tournament, in which he scored the final goal in the 7 – 1 rout of Bedistan.
7. Glenn Whelan (FC Hypocrium)
Another product of the FC Hypocrium youth academy. A tricky right winger with plenty of pace but not a lot of first team experience. Adds a nice balance to the midfield.
8. Alex Rytter (Kester Town)
Talented attacking midfield player who starred for his club in the last two seasons. He had an excellent tournament two years ago and will be looking to shine again.
11. Robert Bercali (Kester Town)
Another member of Kester Town’s impressive young side who made his senior international debut at the AOCAF tournament but returns to the U21 side for his second U21 World Cup.
9. James Eagles (Hypocrium City)
A striker regarded as the next big thing in Hypocrian football. One of a number of youngsters called up to the Hypocrium City first team after the club lost a number of players due to national team duty. Scored 15 goals and helped his club to the Hyper League title.
10. Paul Dargo (Dynamo Rasium)
The Dynamo forward burst onto the scene last season as his goals inspired the unfancied side from Rasium to fourth place in the league.

JERUSALEM LAWYER FOUND DEAD IN GUTTER
James Smith, the lawyer for the Jerusalem FA was found dead this morning, by an old man walking his dog named Morris. The body was found lying in the gutter of Revenge Road, a notorious hotspot for crime. It was evident that Smith had suffered repeated stab-wounds to the body.
Despite these wounds, and the Zorro-style JP carved into Smith's torso, the new multi-millionaire police chief PC Ivor Bribe insisted that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

"Hi Khim," said the figure in the doorway, "how's it going?"
Sitting alone in the Starblaydi Under-21s changing room, the dejected Dwarven Manager looked up.
"Ceri?" He asked the figure. "Ceri Salisbury? What tae hell are ye doing here?"
"Just thought I'd stop by for old times' sake," Ceri replied, stepping into the changing room, "sorry about the result."
"Aye," Khim nodded his thanks, "I bet t'Beast ain't happy either."
Ceri chuckled and patted his old Dwarven friend on the shoulder. A loss in the Under-21 World Cup is always hard for Starblaydia's team to bear, especially during the Group Stage of the tournament. Khim spoke up to break the moment.
"You know the last time we lost in the Group Stage of this damn thing?"
"Twenty-three years ago," Ceri replied with a smile, "Your first starting Under-21 Cap, if I remember correctly. A three-two loss to Kylaai, of all places."
"How d'yae remember all that information of the top a yer head?" Khim asked his old friend. A Dwarf would naturally remember all those sorts of facts, particularly as they would write them down in a Book of Grudges. A Human, however, certainly wouldn't. Ceri, however, just smiled under that age-old blond mop of a haircut and tapped his nose. Khim frowned. "Excelsior?"
"I'm not at liberty to tell you that you've just correctly guessed my current employer," Ceri said, quickly adding, "or you may not have, of course."
Khim frowned again, though as a Dwarf it looked like he was almost always frowning behind those thick red-brown eyebrows. The secret 'Excelsior' society didn't let many into its ranks and the former Right-Back, who - uncannily - had won the same number of International Caps (58) and Goals (6) for Starblaydia as Khim himself, was one of them.
"This is only a flying visit, shortarse," Ceri said, "just try not to lose one-nil to anyone other than Oglethorpia in this group."
Khim frowned - again - Crystilakere and Sonaron were up next, games which Starblaydia now needed to win.
"Aye, laddie," Khim replied, "see you later. I got a team-talk-and-a-half to give now, ye ken?"
"Aye, laddie," Ceri said, turning to leave.
Duiker named Under 21 Coach
----------------------Former Vilita National Goalkeeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker has been unveiled as the man who will lead the Jungle Kitties in their Under 21 Revival in the 18th Under 21 World Cup. The former national team and regional goalkeeper is currently a player/manager at Jlinal Cove FC in Vilita, where he led his side to an all-time best 5th place in the final standings for Vilitan season 18. The position was originally offerered to Yeaddin Owls AFC manager Kenter Surf, who as usual turned down the role with the national team. Other top managers, including Santo Kecker and Callum Banda, were unavailable to take up the role due to binding commitments to other areas of the Vilitan National System. Banda is preparing for World Cup 24 Qualifying as a player, while Kecker has just completed his incredible AOCAF demolision where Vilita took down all opposition en route to their Second Regional title.
----------------------Duiker is quickly becoming a respected manager in Vilita, however some will still take surprise in his naming as coach of the Jungle Kitties Under 21 side. Duiker's performances in the opening matches will go a long way to proving that he belongs behind the bench on the international stage, and he is expected to finalize his roster in the coming days.

Chicanada gets Group A, could do well this time around
Group A
Chicanada (6)
Harlesburg
Bettia
Bedistan (12)
Chicanada gets a second dance with Bedistan while taking on unknown squads from Harlesburg and Bettia in the newest edition of the u21 Cup. The Kodikits official roster should be announced within the next day (hopefully before a match occurs) and it's expected to stay the same with only minor tweaking, such as lady goalkeep Jasmine Plo' taking over the starting job.
With the Kodiak nation drawing their attention to Cherry Cup XV on Northern, the u21ers will have to split their tv time with the Premiership action on CanaTV. Many figured with the recent split of the FA into the Liga and the CFU that some teams participating in the second Premiership would stop their players from going, but most teams played nice and allowed their young stars to play. Liga W had no issues, as WFC Esten has already clinched the 1927 Liga A Championships and the top eight squads are preparing for the Heritage Cup.
More news and rabbleing as things develop.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...........This is Soccer Not Cricket
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...........This is Soccer Not Cricket
Vilitans Encourage Tonissia to either: A) Read the Rules of a Topic, B) Let the Creator of a Thread lay down the Law, C) Mind their own Business or D) Not to Criticize a Nation that may be contributing incorrectly, Because At least they are Making the Effort to contribute at All.
---------------------Today Vilitan Football Association representative Rory Issah spoke at a conference amongst other leaders in the footballing community about the growing problem of the extremely high introduction of n00bish puppets and nations that have no international transmissions (sometimes known to lay-people as "posts") until they first indicate their intent to participate (sometimes known to lay-people as "sign ups") and then do little more after that moment than complain to a common point and perhaps submit an official list of eligible participants (sometimes known to lay-people as a "roster"). It is a growing problem in the sport today, but Issah believes the problem is deeper than that.
---------------------"Just look at Tonissia's butt forward ploy to stir up controversy in the Under 21 tournament. I mean sure, it's a bit troubling that a nation would send a bunch of cricket players to a football competition, but it's not their place to tell them they cannot do so. If they want to send a bunch of ball whackers then by all means, they should be able to do so without the un professional criticism of a puppet abuser. It's bad enough that nations like Tonissia attempt to send hoardes of affiliated nations to our tournaments without so much as sending a single press advisor along with them, but then to go on top of that and step into the boundaries of those who are running the tournament, its just ridiculous. We are in the position that we feel nations, such as and definately including Tonissia, should make an attempt to respect the tournaments that they are abusing, or to get out of them altogether, whether that is done peacefully or forcefully we do not have preference."
---------------------It is currently unknown the position of other Nations at the conference, as the radio transmission lines were sabotaged by a nation claiming it was not a puppet simply because it was not a direct descendant of it's main nation, despite it clearly attached by string to the same hand as the multitude of nations that supported the ploy.

Lions on allout attack scheme
- Attacking Football.
COACHES
- Brent Vent: Head Coach
- Opit Newman: Assistant Coach.
GOALKEEPERS
Dana Hammoud (7 U21 caps):
- 21 year old Rappor goalkeeper. Has a tough job replacing Hard Dans. Solid in every aspect, not exceptional in anything.
Jerashnon Bristola
- 18 year old reserve keeper for Captera. Just coming through the youth ranks, undeniable potential. First time participant.
DEFENDERS
Ghanem Drad:
- 20 year old Riviera central defender. Was solid in the last U21 WC campaign, will be given the task of leading the defence force now that Gary Stewart has moved on.
Alfred Barnes :
- 21 year old Woodston defender. Second go round in the tournament. Phenomenal tackler, if sometimes overly aggressive.
Fred Onno :
- 21 year old left defender. The second of the Woodston contingency in the back four. Has a good relationship with Barnes. Also started in the last WC.
Waleed Ahmar:
- 20 year old Nurpert right defender. Not the most agile of players, but not the easiest player to get around.
Ricky Tannelson:
- 18 year old reserve central defender. Plays for Shoreland, has got alot of people drooling on the potential. Not quite ready to start yet.
Hameed Ostaller :
- 18 year old left defender. Plays for Andestranne.
Alam Battaron:
- 17 year old reserve right defender. Plays for Rappor.
MIDFIELDERS
Fred Fox:
- 21 year old Zupera left midfielder. His strength is his quickness as pace. Had a good WC last go round, but more is expected of him.
Junansinho:
- 18 year old Shoreland United right winger. Take a bit of dribbling skills away from the "Nedalian Magic Act", and replace it with a bit more pace, and this is the end result. Originally started out as a left winger, but has been more effective on the right wing.
Houdini:
- 19 year old Brickell defensive midfielder. Absolute magic with the ball. Has lit the Premier League on fire, and at the young age of 19, has been named captain of the squad. An absolute terror.
Ballson Yellow:
- 19 year old Shoreland United attacking midfielder. The other part of the so-called "Nedalian Magic Act". Much in the same mold as his counterpart Houdini. Has made people forget Constantine in a hurry.
Contrastille:
- 17 year old Carlesa left winger. Another in a long line of talented left wingers to come from the country.
Montell Drums:
- 21 year old Riviera reserve right winger. Strong in the air, good at crossing.
Franko Yers:
- 16 year old Dorpar defensive midfielder.
Grank Uidon:
- 17 year old Honsfield Athletic attacking midfielder.
FORWARDS
Dillar Shmut
- 17 year old Rappor striker. Despite young age, has beat out Sean Townsend to the starting squad. Scored 11 goals in the last Premiership campaign for his club. One of the most exciting talents in Nedalian football.
Lumiere
- 20 year old Nurpert striker. One of the most talented strikers in Nedalia, regardless of age. Has already earned 8 international caps, scoring 3 goals.
Sean Townsend
- 21 year old Rappor reserve striker. Inconsistent but terrifying when playing well.
Dellis Xeitor
- 17 year old Strundanne striker.

POST MATCH REACTION
HORTON STILL UPBEAT AFTER LOSS
The Holy Empire's manager Brian Horton reamained upbeat despite the dissapointing 6-2 loss against Jerusalem in their opening Group F match.
"It was a good game that I know some of the public were expecting better from, but we have to remember, Jerusalem are a top side, the eighth seed. We are newcomers to the international arena, and it was a very tough game, and a few members of the public were getting a bit carried away after our friendly win against Elrich. You would expect Jerusalem to keep the ball better than we did, but it is disappointing to concede 6, even against a top side."
"I was slightly disappointed with the Monks sending off, he does have a bad disciplinary record, but I was hoping that would subside in this tournament, but Darryl Jordan can easily step up and take his place. Darryl is a great keeper, he was very unlucky not to start."
"But on the positives, both Jon(Parkin) and Murph(David Murphy) took their chances very well. Murph has been on good form, after he scored in the friendly. Also I thought that Ralph Little, who was a bit of a gamble for he hasn't played much football this year, did quite well, as most of the attack was coming down their left flank."
"So it is a dissapointing scoreline, but I've told the players not to feel down because you would expect the players of their calibre to be better and their attitude was good."
N.B An Elrichian report on last Thursday's friendly match is available on the Baptism of Fire thread.

Klakistany very goalseeking in match against Ruventsoria
The players of Klakistany were quite nervous for this match , because it was there first International match ever.
But since the ball was played and the match begun they were'nt nervous anymore , full of power and only concentrating on one thing : Winning this match.
Klakistany started very powerful, they were dominating the whole 1st quarter, after 4 minutes already the first goal came from Klakistany by Asiengacz,it was an excellent overhead kick that found the net from 25 meters.
The next goal came only 2 minutes after the 1st one,now it was the turn for Kudż who scored from a header, the assist was from Konowski.
In the 10th minute Kudż scored with an overwhelming free kick from 35 meters.
He played it very hard in the high corner of the goal.
After that goal some of the Ruventsoria fans were throwing with fireworks on the field, the police acted good and arrested a few fans.
However,Pulak from Klakistany got injured from the fireworks and got substituted with Sudziak.
In the 23th minute Pzewiec made a hard and dumb tackle,he tackled an Ruventsoria-player with both legs sretched.
It wasn't a hard decision for the referee : RED CARD
Also Ruventsoria got a penalty who had been scored, the score is 3-1.
18 minutes after that Ruventsoria scored another goal by an excellent dribble by an Ruventsoria-player.
And just before the 1st half ended Ruventsoria scored another goal and that made the half time score 3-3.
It seemed like Klak gave his players an boost in the half time because they started the 2nd half like they started the first one.
And after playing 15 minutes in the 2nd half they found the net again, this time Pujt was the lucky won,he scored with an wonderful bicyckle kick.
In the 73th minute Pujt was in a rush on the left half, and he dribbled all the way through the middle to the front of the goal and passed the ball to Kudż who just had to tick in the ball : 5-3.
In the 87th minute a Ruventsoria-player cam in with a very hard tackle, red was given and a penalty.
The Ruventsoria-players weren't happy with that decision and started to beat up the referee, the police had to come up the field and stop the attacks.
Luckily after 5 minutes they had it all under control, the players did all receive a yellow card and the referee is going to the hospital,it looks like they really did some damage,he might be dead.
But when the game was resumed it was Asiengacz's turn to score from 11 meters and he succeeded in that.
The final score was 6-3 and I believe Klakistany is very happy for such an result at their first International match.

Back home in BBH, some people have stumbled upon their under-21 team playing on BBHTV.
Jemima: What are you watching through there?
Zach: Oh, it's our under-21 team in action.
Jemima: The cricket's on! How's it going?
Zach: Well, we're two for three, and we appear to have lost already.
Jemima: Already? Well, what did the other team get?
Zach: Um... I'm not sure... look, there's something about this that just simply isn't cricket...
Jemima: Well, it does all sound a little odd.
Zach: No, not like that. I mean, the team are all padded up and everything, but... well, they look as if they're playing some kind of new game.
Jemima: A new game? But I thought that there was only cricket?
Zach: No this one's called something like sucker, and instead of having seperate innings, each team scores at the same time!
Jemima: Isn't that all a bit confusing?
Zach: You haven't heard the rest of it yet! They have runs, but they don't count towards the score, and instead of protecting your wicket, you have to protect your 'goal'.
Jemima: Your goal? But isn't your goal something you are aiming for?
Zach: I don't know. Maybe I'll pick it up a bit more if it's on again.

Milchama happy with 1st result
Milchama is absolutely giddy about the 0-0 draw with Hockey Canada earlier today. "We were expecting good things from U21 side but this is too much a draw against the U21 from the best team in the world we could not be happier well maybe if Kelto could have converted his final oppurtunity and we won but a draw is unbielevable." said coach Jonathan Fairbanks after the match.
The match was a good one for Milchama eventhough after 5 minutes they were basically bunkered in their own half. The first half was mostly boring with not many chances for either side despite the fact that Hockey Canada had 66% of the possesion. In the second half the game opened and on 49 minutes one of Hockey Canada's strikers struck the far post with a shot and then on 55 minutes Hockey Canada got a free kick just outside the box which thankfully went wide. The game was stagnant for 20 minutes as again Milchama was able to force Hockey Canada to just pass the ball around without doing anything. Then finally in the 77 minute Milchama got their 2nd shot of the Copperlee got a pass from Lintooney and almost scored but was denied by a great save from the keeper. Then in one last gasp attack in extra time Paco Kelto the sub went around Hockey Canada's goalie and shot but it hit the cross bar and went over.
"All in all we have nothing to complain about" said FA director Calvin Chintermantoman.
Hypocria

Still Up For The Cup
For the fourth tournament in succession the fifth seeds Hypocria will play in the top half of the Under-21 draw having been drawn in Group B of the competition. Pacitalia, Cockbill Street and PopularFreedom provide the opposition as the Hyppos begin their campaign to wrestle the Under-21 title out of the Karelan hands of Hockey Canada.
Pacitalia (10)
Again? Again! In the last two tournaments Hypocria and Pacitalia have met in the second round with the Hyppos victorious on both occasions, 3 – 2 (WC 16) and 3 – 1 (WC 17). Pacitalia will be hoping it’ll be third time lucky but something tells us that won’t happen. Call it a gut feeling but we predict a 5 – 3 win for the Hyppos.
Cockbill Street (13)
This will be the first meeting at Under-21 level between Hypocria and our northern neighbours. The senior sides have met just once before, at AOCAF IX where the Street ran out 3 – 0 winners. At Under-21 level the Hyppos are ranked well above their local rivals but this tournament is not short of upsets.
PopularFreedom
It doesn’t look too good for Group B’s outsiders. The new boys will probably struggle to finish anywhere other than last. A point against Cockbill Street may be as good as it gets.
Perfect Start
The Hyppos have made an ideal start to Under-21 World 18, putting 5 goals past Pacitalia and taking three points from their nearest rivals in Group B. The nations met for the third time in three tournaments and for the third time it was Hypocria who finished as winners.
Hypocria 5 – 3 Pacitalia
Eagles(2)
Dargo
Costa
Rytter
Debutant striker James Eagles was the star of the first half as his two goals put the Hyppos 2 - 0 up at the break. The second half was not for the Karelan among the crowd as the two sides shared 6 goals between them. Another debutant, Paul Dargo, put the Hyppos back in front after Pacitalia had levelled at 2 – 2. Midfielder Costa made it 4 – 2 but back came the opposition again to make it 4 – 3. A low twenty yard drive from the influential Alex Rytter nestled into the bottom corner with just four minutes to go to finally seal a hard fought victory for Hypocria.
In the other group game new boys PopularFreedom picked up a well deserved point after an impressive 2 – 2 draw with thirteenth seeds Cockbill Street.

Now It's The Young'uns Turn
Fresh from the senior side's relative success at the Cup of Harmony, Bettia's emerging crop of youngsters are looking to make a name for themselves on the world scene.
However, they are unranked and look to have a tough task against sixth-ranked Chicanada and no.12 seeds (and neighbours) Bedistan. Yes folks, you read that right, Bettia have been drawn against neighbours for the fourth consecutive competition! Also in the group are fellow U21 newcomers Harlesburg.
So who are the 18 young hopefuls? (probable starting eleven in green)
Goalkeepers
1. Safwan Sulaiman - Sukatra Tigers, age 17, 3 caps
2. Mitchell Ellis - Rhyngwladol Gabalfa, age 16, 0 caps

Young'uns Fall At First Hurdle
Bettia 3 (Rhydderch 3 65 87)
Bedistan 5 (Some unknown kids 18 43 45 76 88)
The Bettian under-21s had a mixed bag of a debut, putting three past a more experienced Bedistani team, but unfortunately conceding five. The Bedistanis didn't make it easy for anyone, not least the Bettian commentators who were left to fend for themselves without a team roster or even names and numbers on the players' backs.
The undoubted star of the show as far as Bettia were concerned was Liamist States-based striker Gwarthen Rhydderch. The youngster (the youngest to ever play in the LS-leagues) has been doing exceptionally well for his club, and he translated that fine form to the international stage by bagging a hat-trick.
The first came with Bettia's first attack after just three minutes. Some neat interplay between Ap Tegryn and Jenkins saw the Young'Uns advance down the centre, and a carefully threaded ball from Jenkins split the Bedistan defence in two, letting through Rhydderch who sidefooted the goalkeeper and walked the ball into an empty net.
Rhydderch's second came after an hour of play which had seen the Bedistanis race 3-1 ahead thanks to brace right on the stroke of half-time. Some careless passing between defenders was hungrily snapped up by the young Bettian who cooly chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper.
Bedistan soon went 4-2 up, and the match looked to be finishing that way when Rhydderch snatched a third for the Young'Uns. An excellent run down the left by Gwrlais Devanallt took the Akani Sands man past three defenders, who then looked up to find his three striking partners lurking in the area. His lofted cross was met first by Rhydderch, who headed home despite the close attention of his marker.
And so ends Bettia's first foray into international Under-21 competition. No-one expects to gain much from this tournament except some valuable experience which will stand the lads in good stead for future competitions.

Oliverry wins against Spruitland!
Oliverry won 3-2 against Spruitland. The fleurdelys won against the bunny, in a figured way.
All atarted at the 3rd minute when Tristan Verelst couldn't stop a shot from the wing by Benoit Bellemort. 1-0 Oliverry. At the 14th minute, Laurent Jean got a yellow card for simulating. But, every commentator we talked to said that if we looked at the replay, he wasn't simulating. So destabilised by that, the Oliverrian team couldn't play at their full stance and got scored at the 31st minute by an easy to stop shot from Taki Sala. This goal evened the score 1-1. 4 minutes later, the Spruitlanders try to start an attack but Guillaume Fournier woke up and stopped the spectacular shot attempted by Eddie Engels. After 45 minutes, the score was 1-1.
Let's stop describing soccer and let's describe the half-time show. It was so bad, I wonder how I could see it without suicide me. It was a cheerleading show, but with only boys in it. I will never see this country the same again...
The game restarts. At the 56th minute, Chico Provoost went in breakaway and scored in the top-left corner of the goal. 2-1 Spruitland. The Oliverrian captain, Marc Lariviere, tried to wake up his teammates, nothing could be done. The team was demoralized. Between this goal and the 80th minute, Fournier stopped 17 shots. When the team saw that it was lefting 10 minutes, they woke up. At the 83rd minute, Jason Michaud takes the ball, passes it to Gil Regent while Jules Tremblay was slowing the player behind them by saying him bad jokes. So, it was 2 vs the goalie. Regent passed back to Michaud that scored an anthology goal. 2-2. At the kickoff, Pierre Legault manaed to take the ball back to his team. They go on attack again. Legault passed to Bureau. Bureau advances to the zone but he got tackled by Detlef Weber in the zone. The referee called a penalty. The penalty was taken by Jason Michaud. So he shots in the top of the net and he scores. 3-2 Oliverry.
Next game will be against Klakistany. They showed good stuff in their game against Ruventsoria so we expect something good for today.

The Bureaucratic Tribune
Belated WC18U21 roster? Nonsense.
MEGALOPOLIS CITY (BT) -- With Oglethorpia's third U21 appearance at hand, extensive time travel and coercion has yielded the direct decendents of Oglethorpia's World Cup 17 U21 squad, as described by the following roster.
Manager/Coach/Head Moral Supporter: Ruben van Mistletoe
Formation: 3-4-3
Goal: Tom T. Kein III (18)
Defense:
Dwight White III (17)
Michael Shootson-Arnold III (19)
Mitch Pritchell III (20)
Midfield:
Grant G. Green III (18)
Nathaniel Falls III (20)
Lionel Linear III (20)
Charles Albert-Herbson Cabbages III (20)
Offense:
Stephe Mogler III (18)
Maximillian Black IIII (20)
Hugh G. Dawkins III (19)
On the bench is Bill Behnch II, Bob Betterer II, Bill Betterer II, Bob Behnch II and Brad Betterer II. Remarkably, none of the five substitutes are related, but merely decendents of their U21 World Cup 17 counterparts.
"We've got a great chance this year," commented coach van Mistletoe. "First, we're ranked high -- second, we've got a very royal and regal squad. They're all 'Dwight White the third,' and such. I'm sure somehow that has to do with our preformance on the field."
We win!
SOMEWHERE (BT) -- Having scored more points than Starblaydia in the football contest between the two, Oglethorpia wins.
But far less specifically, the victory is a great moral and numerical boost for Oglethorpia. "We get three points for that win, which I imagine is quite a lot," commented forward Steve Mogler III.
Oglethorpia next presumably plays some football team.

The Pacitalian representation returns to the pitch in the 18th incarnation of the NationStates Under-21 World Cup. Again, mediocrity settles in here. No matter what style of play the team tries, failure seems to be the only option. The team is not bad on paper, but they have to convert that to goals and victories, and then the Cup victory. If not, they're doomed to be stuck at 10th-15th seed forever, along with good buddies Bedistan, whose luck at this tournament seems to also have never existed. Now then, on to the matches.

Pacitalia faces Hypocria for the third straight tournament and we're betting that once again, Hypocria will teach us how to make a proper football team by obliterating us. Then it's onto other teams that are seeded lower than Pacitalia but will probably upset us both times. But we can sure hope for the best!

Hockey Canada's Roster (belated)
Goalkeepers
90-Kyle Thomas :: Age 18 (Captain) 38 caps- Probably the best keeper the Hockey Canadian system has seen ever. Proving it once again at 16, he's no longer the young kid in the tournement.
1-Dean Smart :: Age 21 1 caps- Good potential, but overshadowed by Thomas
20- Jaques Planter :: Age 20 0 caps- From the french district in Hockey canada, Planter will need to get some games under his belt before anything big starts.
Defenders
6-Nick Dunvegan :: Age 21 20 caps- Quickly becoming a fan favourite. Scoring touch seems as dangerous as ever for this star
18-Andrew Aberdeen :: Age 21 24 caps- The 6'10 defender is as hard to get around as the Great Wall of China.
20 Jon Ebrahimi :: Age 21 8 caps- Lightning fast and incredibly smart with the ball could prove him to be quite the threat.
32-Mark Habsheid :: Age 21 16 caps- new from the Hockey Canadian system, he has something to prove in the U21WC
2-Alexander Spanolpolis :: Age 21 30 caps- Well used by the Hockey Canadians, he has been preparing himself for the U21WC1 where he's expected to shine.
5-Mike Aaras :: Age 20 1 caps- Simple rookie who can finish off any game with under 30 minutes left.
10-Oscar Alba :: Age 20 3 cap- The time he played he nearly blew the game against Atlantis of Vilita. A reason he's not a starter.
Midfielders
11-Ike Broflovski :: Age 19 21 caps- When you play in the National Team you know you've gottem somewhere only at age 17.
12-Rahul Kulkarni :: Age 21 35 caps- Experience is key, especially for a player with this much skill. Look for his speed, shot and goal-scoring ability to walk all over you.
13-Mike Ko :: Age 21 39 caps- He proved how much of a threat he can be with the U21WC tournements on.
17- Timmy "Timmah!" Johnson :: Age 21 29 caps- He's not getting any younger, but he's not losing his talent.
18-Carlos Chuta :: Age 21 2 caps- The bench has automated heaters, so his job won't be too hard.
Forwards
37-Frederik Kuzkin :: Age 17 9 caps- New to the international spotlight, you can tell this kid will be a massive threat in cups to come.
21-Jeremy Wagner :: Age 21 3 caps- He wouldn't head the ball to save his life, but if he did he might get a 1 in the caps department.
14-Gabe Halflebesch :: Age 19 2 caps A young gun who hasn't had much experience, none to be exact about it.

While the national team may have retired from international football, a budding youth program to rehabilitate young offenders has yield great results with the Antaen Small Animals reach the Finals of the Under 21 World Cup for the first time.
The Group Draw placed them in Group H, along with ex-champions Nedalia, wildcard Vintovia and the uneducated Tonissia. Manager Don Won was very pleased with the draw.
This is a real gift; we have a great chance to progress from the group. We hope our showing here will convince other nations that rehabilitation through sport is a much better option than incarceration.

Only Draw Required
Six-Goal Match Gives Starblaydia edge
Following the dismal showing against Oglethorpia that saw Starblaydia's first Under-21 loss in the Group Stage for over twenty years, they came romping back with a 4-2 win over regionmates Sonaron.
Mercutio opened the scoring for Starblaydia early, supplemented by Cherry Garcia's second Under-21 goal of her career shortly before half time. In the second half, however, four goals were scored in the space of sixteen minutes as Sonaron tried to come back into the game, but were immediately smacked down by a goal from substitute Georges Blanc. Menecrates soon stretched the lead to three goals as he snatched Starblaydia's fourth, but it wasn't enough to keep Sonaron down before they scored a second, setting up a mildly-tense finish, but one which Starblaydia came through easily for the four-two victory.
With one game to go against other regional rivals Crystilakere, Starblaydia will need only a draw to propel them into the Second Round for yet another attempt at the Under-21 title.
Final Score:
Sonaron U21s 2 - 4 Starblaydia U21s
(63, 79) - (Mercutio 13, Garcia 42, Blanc 67, Menecrates 71)

Bedistan U21s do the unthinkable: they win a match!
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY -- It would seem that the Cubs' new attacking style seems to be causing great success, as they actually managed to win their opening match of Under-21 World Cup 18 against southern neighbors Bettia.
At first, the match started as normal, with the inexperienced Bettian team quickly going up one-nil, with Gwarthen Rhydderch sending the ball into a net that had seemingly been completely vacated by Sherman Locke-Holmes in the third minute. Yes, the third minute, and the Cubs were already losing. Business as usual, basically. But Tommy Bob Valentín managed to score the equalizer in the eighteenth to keep the Cubs alive. Then, shortly before halftime, the match suddenly turned into the Billy English Show, as he confidently sent not one, but two balls into the Bettian net in the space of three minutes. As the halftime whistle rang, Bedistan found themselves in an unusual position leading three-one and wondering how they would be able to hold it through the second half.
Tommy Bob Valentín sent another ball into the net in the fiftieth minute attempting to make the score 4-1, but the referee discounted the goal, citing an offside violation. About ten minutes after that, Andy Pickron's pass to Lauren Gunn on the back line went astray and was intercepted by Rhydderch, who promptly scored his second to bring Bettia back into the game. Delilah Greene decided that she wanted a piece of the Bedistan scoring action too, though, and she sent a surprisingly high-powered shot into the left corner of the Bettian net to make the score 4-2. But a little later on, without warning, Gwrlais Devanallt made a great run up the left side of the pitch with the ball for Bettia, ultimately crossing to Rhydderch, who managed to fire off a header before Gunn or Locke-Holmes could do anything about it, bringing Bettia back to within a goal and giving Rhydderch a hattrick. Not to be outdone, Billy English scored his third the very next minute to bring the score to 5-3, where it would stay.
So incredibly Bedistan find themselves with three points from three going into their second match against Chicanada. Can they keep up this form, or was it just a fluke?

When the match started, no one imagined that it would be such a catastrophe. But then the referee put off his mask and it turned out he was... Gurg. We have no idea how often he was killed and came back but from time to time he became more and more abysmal. This time, he counted a goal of the Orange-Blues for Vilita and when the Orange-Blues tried to 'equalize' by scoring a deliberate own goal, he seemed to notice his mistake and counted the goal as 2:0 for Vilita. The Orange-Blues replied by shooting the ball into the stands where it disappeared. The rest of the 'match' people were searching for the ball. The Insanicans forgot to have another ball because they thought the ball would be passed around by the rejistanians anyways.
On related notes, Gurg was seen in Vilita's capital Alikki-Corra apparently interested in buying a villa-like house.

This is your granddaddy's kind of draw
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY -- Nowadays when you hear the word "draw", you immediately think of a boring 0-0 affair attended only by spectators wearing yellow robes and carrying large blue spheres. But remember the good old days when you could both score and have a match ending in a draw? Well, apparently the good old days are still alive in TnUI.
Take, for instance, matchday two of the current Under-21 World Cup, Bedistan versus Chicanada. This was of the more exciting drawing variety, constantly going back and forth from one team to the other. Chicanada opened the lead first early in the match before Billy English equalized and Sara Westinghouse put the Cubs up 2-1 twenty minutes in. As the crowd cheered, control of play went right back to the opposing Chicanadan team, and even the best efforts by the Bedistani defense couldn't stop the 2-2 equalizer, nor the following goal that gave Chicanada the lead again, 3-2 at halftime. The Cubs' defense seemed unusually leaky, and they resolved to stop that leak in the second half. At first they were successful, as the control of play returned to Bedistan again, with Valentín scoring two more to give Bedistan the 4-3 lead. But their undoing would not be a Chicanadan player at all; instead it was winger Michael Porter, who put a bit too much English on his backpass causing it to sail all the way into the net past an outstretched Locke-Holmes to make the score 4-4. Despite their best efforts, the Cubs couldn't score another goal to rectify the situation, but at least they didn't give another one up, so they still get one point from the ordeal.
At 1-1-0, Bedistan actually lead Group A on goal difference over Chicanada and stand a reasonable chance of making the knockout stages for the first time in a while. The only ones standing in their way are the team from Harlesburg. Can the Cubs beat the odds and make it through?

Poor start
Spruitland – Oliverry: 2 – 3
The Spruitland Bunnies did not start the Under-21 World Cup on the right foot. Not since U21WC15 – the first tournament they participated in – did the Bunnies give up points in a group match. But Spruitland streaks never seem to last very long. The opening match against Oliverry was supposed to be a walk in the proverbial park, but the 2-3 final score suggests that proverbial parks aren’t what they used to be.
Naturally, there are several excuses for the Bunnies’ shameful defeat, the main one being a major distraction during half time, when a bunch of male Oliverran cheerleaders tried to steal the show. At least, we assume they were Oliverran, because they sure as hell weren’t Spruitlanders. In any case, it was almost as disturbing as a naked Finnish rock band doing a cover version of Kung Fu Fighting, and seriously threw the Bunnies off in the second half.
Hopefully the loss of points will not turn out to be disastrous, but with the remaining two group matches against young, lesser experienced footballing nations, Spruitland should still qualify for the Second Round with relative ease. A walk in the park, as they say.
Spruitland – Oliverry: 2 – 3
0-1 Bellemort (3’)
1-1 Sala (31’)
2-1 Provoost (56’)

GOALKEEPERS:
[ 95 ] Jawz Oaker [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 19 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jawz Oaker is the son of Colonial Sile and Oaker national midfielder Arthin Oaker, who moved to Vilita early in his career after his impressive performances for Oaker in past World Cups. Jawz was called up to the Vilita Under 21 squad as Oaker did not participate in the Under-21's, qualifying through his residency and his Mother, a Vilitan. The young keeper spent most of Season 15 on loan to Mavaloiao, before being recruited by Doug Freech's Lopinka side, Declasse champions looking for a starting keeper for their return campain in the Stellar Division. However, hometown Makosile's vast improvements in Season 16 saw the youngster quick to return home to bask in the spotlight with one of Vilita's rising new powers. Despite earning the Goalkeeper of the year award, Oaker's team was not able to compete and spent more time at the bottom of the table then the top, prompting the young keeper to depart once again, this time to Champions League bound inland Peaks FC.
[ 91 ] Jimmy Jaded [ - Turoki Tide - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 13 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jimmy Jaded became one of the youngest players in Vilitan history to receive a professional contract when his Turoki Tide were invited to the Vilitan Declasse in Season 18. Jaded was the only keeper left at the small Turoki club after senior keeper Mital Siegalafel retired at the age of 47 due to injury and fatigue. The Tide will be looking to bring in some experienced cover for Jaded during the season, but the youngster impressed former Goalkeeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker enough to become the youngest player ever called into the Vilitan Under 21 squad, Duiker asking Jaded to cover as backup for Jawz Oaker in Under 21 World Cup 18.
DEFENDERS:
[ 8 ] Ricata Tivalan [ - Siji~e Xkora (Rej) - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Ricata Tivalan became the first Vilitan defender to sign for a club side in Karela-laden Rejistania when he signed for Siji~e Xkora. The 18 year old was invited to the Jungle Kitties side for his first taste of international play in Under 21 World Cup 15.
[ 4 ] Timmy Leaburn [ - Eastal Lunar - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
After starting his career with Liguon Valley, Leaburn had a brief spell with Strike FC during Season 17. The young defender finally settled into the Stellar Division with Eastal Lunar FC. Leaburn's appearances with Eastal Lunar were limited, and despite two goals in the opening half of season 18, Lunar accepted a transfer offer from Makosile for the budding young Vilitan. Leaburn was enthusiastic about the prospects of working under Makosile coach Lorenzo Abellan, known as the most defensive minded coach in all of Vilita.

DEFENSIVE MID:
[ 38 ] Andronik Taimazov [ - Morata Valley - ]
------- GK/D/DM ( AGE: 17 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Young Morata Valley phenom Andonik Taimazov quickly gained a reputation in the Declasse Division after being called to step in as Goalkeeper mid-match and pitching a perfect shutout performance as Morata Valley marched towards the Stellar Division. Taimazov's multi-skilled background has served him well on the domestic level, but his ability as a powerful defensive midfielder earned him his first international call at the hands of Bryan 'Pop' Duiker and the Under 21 World Cup 18.

------- M RC ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Tzikas moved with his family to Starblaydia and was accepted to the Basian Valley squad on a non-contract basis after spending many successful years as a youth trainee for Arcticala Inlet of Vilita

Tika Massa was thrust into the Vilitan Spotlight after netting on his debut performance in the Jurassic Invitational Tournament after coming on as a sub. Massa's late goal sent Vilita into the Semi Finals of the inagural Jurassic competition. Massa's performances earned him a transfer to the admitedly more high profile club of Eastal Lunar, from Makosile where he trained as a youth. Massa was an instant hit at Eastal lunar netting 7 times in 18 games and helping them to the Season 15 Vilitan Cup title. Massa' impressive performances for Eastal Lunar earned him a transfer to Marine Coast United where he netted a career high 8 goals in Season 17. With Marine Coast's form slipping, and Cednia Beach's stock rising, the Season 17 champions tabled a bid for the Vilitan Under 21 International and Massa made his first appearances for the Turorian Club during the 6th NS Champions League. After netting 6 times in 36 appearances for Cednia Beach, Massa made his second consecutive move to the Stellar Division Champions, making the high profile switch to Strike FC in Season 19.

Wrice made 10 appearances for Inland Peaks in Season 15, and his 5 goals helped propel the team to the top 5 in the table at the halfway point. The young striker's potential did not go unnoticed, and Turoki Isle opened up their pockets to make an offer the smaller Inlands club could not refuse, bringing the Under-21 International to Turoki Isle. Wrice would spend two seasons at Turoki Isle, netting 21 goals for the club before making a high-profile transfer to Marine Coast United during Season 17.

Here's a little something we like to call "total 'n' utter pwnage"
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY -- Two teams took the pitch on Matchday 3. It might not seem like it, but there actually was a full eleven-man opposing team out there. They hailed from Harlesburg, certainly not the most well-known nation in international football, but not absolute strangers either. But at times it seemed as though they had completely failed to take the pitch.
I mean, how often is it that you see a team up 4-0 after twenty minutes, even in the Under-21 championships? Bedistan had managed to do exactly that, with English, Greene, Westinghouse, and Valentín each scoring a goal in that time. The spectators were having an absolute field day, urging their Cubs forward to run up the score, and run it up they did. English had his second hattrick of the tournament by the end of the half, with the score sitting at a staggering 7-0 in favor of Bedistan. Yes, you read that right, 7-0 at halftime. The players and fans were both elated to not only be winning a match, but to be absolutely dominating it.
Unfortunately, not all was good. The team lost Andy Pickron to a red card early in the second half after an unnecessary foul on a Harlesburg forward, resulting in a penalty kick. Locke-Holmes' clean sheet in the match was soiled by the successful PK, but nobody was seriously worried with the Cubs still up by six. They took a more relaxed stance for the remainder of the game, but that didn't prevent them from scoring four more goals, bringing English to a total of four and giving Sara Westinghouse a hattrick of her own. When the final whistle blew, the number of goals next to "Bedistan" on the scoreboard actually had two digits, for what this reporter is fairly sure is the first time ever. Eleven to one. The post-match celebrations lasted for literally hours, finally ending when Insanician officials forcibly removed everyone from the stadium so that the Bettia-Chicanada match could proceed.
With two wins and one draw, scoring an astounding twenty goals, the Cubs are assured of a second round berth, but it is not yet known who they will play. Whoever it is had better watch out, though - these guys are on a hot streak the likes of which have never been seen before!

Slightly better
Ruventsoria – Spruitland: 2 – 4
After a shaky start, Spruitland football fans were expecting big things of the Bunnies’ second match. Something like, oh, a 6-0 or 7-0 win, seeing how their opponent was little-heard-of Ruventsoria, who had lost fairly heavily to equally-little-heard-of Klakistany on matchday 1. The match, however, was a bit more even than expected.
The Ruventsorianders, or whatever they’re called, even took the lead, crashing one in off a corner after only five minutes, and for the second time in as many matches, the Bunnies were looking at an early deficit. This time, they reacted properly though.
The combination of a booing Spruitland crowd and a frantic and furious Paulo Bachchan along the sideline was enough to get the Bunnies’ collective ass in gear. Torsten Prins led the way with a nice equalizer from a direct free kick, Chico Provoost quickly followed suit with a powerful header, and Gary Mariano scrambled the ball into the net to make it 1-3 before half time.
Things seemed thoroughly under control again, but the second half started much like the first, with a fast Ruventsoriander goal, narrowing the gap. The Bunnies tried to strike back immediately again, but found a much more determined defense in their way. For a good while the one goal gap kept hope alive for Ruventsoria, but with 15 minutes to play, Taki Sala settled the score at 2-4.
That pretty much broke the Ruventsorianders’ spirit, and Spruitland cruised towards the final whistle from then on. Substitute striker Robbad I. Asay even scored twice more for the Bunnies, but saw his goals disallowed for being offside – both questionable decisions.
The win keeps Spruitland not too far behind schedule for advancement to the next round. With Oliverry and Klakistany keeping each other in balance, the Bunnies are still in third place in Group G though. A draw against Klakistany on matchday 3 will likely not be enough. Hell, scratch the “likely” – even if it would be enough to advance, it’ll most definitely not be enough for the Spruitland supporters, who will not be happy with anything less than a big win.
Ruventsoria – Spruitland: 2 – 4

1-2 Provoost (18’)

"Incomprehensible and weird names, eyewatering colors, weird national animals, and insane tactics" apply this to whichever team in the match between Rejistania and Marligantis you think it fits better... have problems deciding? You're not the only one.
"Kaskada" is the rejistanian term for butterfly, and so, before the match, the Marligantis team was nicknamed "kaskada'he'ny": the butterfly people.
The Kaskada'ny played an attacking 4-4-2 formation, while the Orange-Blues decided for their normal 6-3-1. The kaskada'he goalkeeper Mnan'i A'a had nothing to do most of the time, because the Orange-Blues remained in their defensive positions. Alan Ivelmore parried the few shots going through with a speed, which can only be explained by his belmorian inheritance. In the 17th minute, the only attack in this match from the Orange-Blues happened. In an unexpected counter-attack, Hetaki Atxunus was able to increase the score. Mnan'i A'a had "no chance in 100" (as rejistanians would say) to catch the ball. The rest of the match, the rejistanians changed their formation to a 10-0-0 and no real chance for either team occurred. The Young Orange-Blues won 1:0.

Small Animals tie with Tonissia
While a draw is a good result for their first match in the World Cup Finals, after breezing through qualifying, one can't help but wonder if this match will come back to haunt them. Taking an early lead the Antaens managed to bypass the Tonissian defence easily, but they were equally lax at the back conceding within 5 minutes. This pattern continued with the Small Animals taking the lead 3 more times and the Tonissians drawing the score. It was late in the second half when the Tonissians finally managed to take the lead with a curling header from a corner. With 5 minutes left on the clock 2 quick goals from substitute Carla McKiva put the Antaens back on top. It took an injury time fluke to save Tonissian and deny the poor Antaens a win.
"Our defence is definitely something we can work on, it may take a few years but I'm sure we can improve to world class level."

CHEWIE TURNS THE SHIP AROUND
CHEWBACCA SCORES TWO IN 5-3 VICTORY
Last night, The Holy Empire of Jon Parkin beat Liverpool England 5 goals to 2 in Group F of the 18th Under 21 World Championships. Two goals from man-of-the-match Chewbacca led them to victory, with other goals from Jon Parkin, David Murphy and Kevin Tonkinson.
Brian Horton had changed his formation, by dropping Matthew Bassirat, who had been disappointing in the game against Jerusalem, and bringing in the huge presence of Chewbacca up front. David Murphy was dropped behind the front two to feed of the flick-ons and heads from the big men up front of Chewie and Parkin. Jordan replaced the banned Broadhurst Monk in goal.
The Holy Empire made there mark early on when after Murphy ran down the right flank, whipped a ball across the box and the towering Chewbacca nodded in from 6 yards. The lead was short lived as the Liverpool England side pulled together and scored a well taken goal within 10 minutes.
At the half hour mark, a foul on Parkin gave free-kick specialist Dave Murphy the chance to retake the lead. He didn't disappoint, curling the ball into the top corner. Chewbacca doubled the lead 5 minutes later when he rose highest to power a Kevin Tonkinson corner home. Celebrations soon turned sour when Liverpool England scored twice before half time, as the HEJP defence was caught napping, with a deflected long range effort and a dubious penalty.
It was much tighter after half time with both sides being more cautious. The sides were level until the 75th minute, when Kevin Tonkinson picked the ball up at the half way line, beat 5 men and drilled in a gem from 30 yards. To the delight of the female Parkin fans, the adrenaline-fueled Tonker ripped off not only his shirt but his shorts as well. And in the 85th minute, as Liverpool England were pressing, Jon Parkin scored on the break, cooly slotting underneath the on rushing keeper.
Qualification from Group F is now a real possibility, and a win in the crucial game against Liamist States will see the impossible happen, the Holy Empire in the last 16. It is all in their hands and they wouldn't want it any other way.

Vintovia hit for 6
and then some
Goals, goals, goals. Another high scoring affair in Group H. The Antaens again rushed out of the starting blocks to a 3-0 lead within the first 20 minutes. Vintovia playing a 0-0-10 were having trouble getting possession. It was 6-0 at half time when the Vintovia manager finally ordered a sensible formation. The 4-3-3 they playing in the second half yielded 3 goals and only let in 2, a shame they didn't use that formation all game long otherwise they would have won. The final score of 8 to the Small Animals, 3 to the Crazy Managed People.

And then there were 2.
Matchday 3 was a showdown between group favourites Nedalia and the attacking underdogs of Antaeus Rising. With so many upsets happening in other groups, could the Small Animals fell the Lion?
Nedalia were missing key defence starter Ghanem Drad who sprained his wrist and starting goalkeeper Dana Hammoud who had a groin strain...both staying in adjoining rooms, there were some rumours that the two injures were not unrelated.
The Antaens however had their full team to choose from and started with an all star 11, well stars on Antaens Most Wanted at least.
The game started off slow. Nedalia, well known for attacking football that won them this championship seemed a little subdued. Maybe the lost of key defensive players, maybe they were just playing for the draw to top the group. 44 minutes into the first half and still no break in the deadlock. The final attacking run of the first half from the Antaens would finally yield some results as Jerashnon Bristola slipped in goal allowing striker Neil Jenkins to shoot home for the lead.

Hypocria

Popular Scoreline
This is the Hypocria we like, full of goals and pretty useless defensively. Two years ago the side went a bit strange, conceding just 4 goals on their way to a third place finish. But fear not Hyppos fans as it would seem normal service has been resumed as for the second game in succession Hypocria score 5 and concede 3.
Hypocria 5 – 3 PopularFreedom
Eagles (3)
Dargo(2)
The plucky newcomers from PopularFreedom started well and actually took the lead after ten minutes sparking hopes of a possible upset. Those sparks were doused just two minutes later after Dargo headed home Whelan’s cross. His striker partner Eagles latched onto Costa’s through ball and confidently beat the keeper on 25 minutes to put the Hyppos in front. Eagles added his second and Hypocria’s third shortly before the break, putting the Hyppos in control at the interval.
Shortly after the restart Dargo was allowed the freedom of the penalty area to turn and find the bottom corner for his second goal of the match and the Hyppos’ fourth, surely putting the contest beyond PopularFreedom. But no, the new boys stormed back and two goals in a 5 minute spell just after the hour mark brought them right back into it. As PopularFreedom pushed forward looking for the equaliser they were caught with a sucker punch. Bercali broke down the left, cut the ball back and Eagles fired past the keeper to complete his hattrick and send Hypocria into the second round regardless of the matchday 3 results.
In the other group match Pacitalia and Cockbill Street drew 1 – 1. That result mean Hypocria top Group B with 6 points and are now guaranteed a place as we are 4 points above second place Cockbill Street with just 3 points left to play for.

The Nedalia Lions
More of the Same; 6 Points from first 2 Matches
The group stages have become something of a formality for the Lions, with the last Group stage loss coming in Nedalia's first U21 Word Cup, WC 14, against South Osettia. Things are no different for the former champions this time around, as they are making short work of their opponents. Granted, the 1st match wasnt as easy as all were predicting, but then again, the defense, as manager Brent Vent reported, still has to get used to each other.
"Offensively, this is the best unit we've ever had. The "Magic Act" of Houdini and Yellow is an absolute terror, and with Freddy on the left with his experience and the speed of Junansinho on the right, I dont see how anyone can compete with our midfield. Houdini has been given that name for a reason, you know. And it doesnt get any easier for opponents when you move forward to the front line. Lumiere is a proven international, yet alone U21 player, and Dillar Schmut was one the Nedalia Premier League champions leading scorer."
Indeed that was proven against Vintovia in the first game, when the Lions were able to put 4 past their opponents in a 30 minutes time span, at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half through Lumiere, Houdini, and Shmut, with the last one netting in two. What was off concern, however, was the 3 goals they let in during the last 25 minutes of the 2nd half. It was obvious the defense, as usual, would require alot of work.
The second game saw some improvements, but was not void of their defensive inadequacies. Against Tonissia, the Lions delivered another spectacular offensive performance, this time attacking midfielder Yellw netting in a fabulous hat-trick, and the 4th goal coming from Lumiere. But yet again, the team started conceding goals in the final part of the match, with the two opponent goals coming in the last 15 minutes.
"Its obvious the defense needs some work, really obvious. They are just not gelling together as good as I would hope, but I feel they can come together. We need them to do that if we are looking to advance and win our second championship," commented manager Brent Vent.
The manager speaks the truth. The defence needs to be improved if they are to compete against the top teams, but knowing the quality of experience of the manager, one can safely assume that he will find a way.
Klakistany

Klakistany draws with Oliverry
Today was an important match for the Klakistany U21 team.
They had to play against the strongest nation in their group.
They started off not very good, but not that bad either.
The first half was very boring, there has almost happend nothing.
Except in the 44th minute after a bad tackle by Asiengacz he got a yellow card and he injured the referee (!) , he wanted to tackle an Oliverry-player but missed and tackled the referee, the referee had to be changed.
After playing 10 minutes in the 2nd half you would know that it wouldn't be a replay from the 1st one.
After already 2 minutes Klakistany opens the score with a great free kick by Asiengacz.
8 minutes later Oliverry swung in a corner that hit a Klakistany-defender and went in goal.
In the 64th minute Klakistany again scored, again with a free kick, but this time by Konowski.
In the 70th minute Oliverry made the equaliser with an superb dribble by an Oliverry-player.
But Klakistany gave an answer very quickly, only 8 seconds after the Olivvery-goal Klakistany scoren another one, great dribbling by Pujt and superb finishing by Kudż made the score look 3-2.
In the 82th minute Klakistany even get on 4-2 by an simple goal by Kudż.
But the 8 minutes after that were terrible,Klakistany thought they would already win,and that was a bad mentality, they let in two simple goals by Oliverry that they could prevent very easy if they were concentrating.
But still it was a good match which was very exciting.
The next match for Klakistany is against Spruitland, who haven't got any points yet,but a loss could be possible so Klakistany better watch out.

Milchama beats cricketers says baseball is better
In a very easy game for the U21s Milchama crushed the cricketers from Beefy-Bumble-Holding 3-1. Tensions were high before the match because Dunston Copperlee, who said he was expressing the opinions of the whole team, lambasted cricket as slow, boring, taking all day, and not worth watching or playing. He then finished off his rant by challenging Beefy-Bumble-Holding to a baseball game after the match. Beefy-Bumble-Holding then challenged Milchama to a cricket match (both offers were accepted) The game started badly for Milchama as Dean Jones got tackled in the box in the 7th minute for a penalty. The penalty was put away easily by wicket keeper Hammond to give Beefy-Bumble-Holding the early lead but that was the closest they would get to the goal for the rest of the game. The rest of the first half was dominated by Milchama and in the 35th minute the domination paid off as Flinters sprang Copperlee, the best Milchama player ever (so far) scored easily with a brilliant shot for the 1-1 draw which was the score at the half.
The second half the tensions that seemed to be bubbling below the surface in the first half finally broke out. In the 50th minute Emmery was tackled hard by Thompson and the two got into a skirmish which soon involved both sides with a lot of screaming and yelling. Both Thompson and Emmery were shown yellow cards. The yellow card to Thompson seemed to heat Milchama up as they came crashing foward with their next attack and J.J. Faren launched a perfect cross to Matt Bantin who headed it in for their second goal. After the goal the match was stagnant offensively but every tackle seemed to bring an argument and a yelling match it looked like the refs were losing control of the game. Then with tensions and every tackle a just legal slide tackle (they had the ball) Darian Flinters got the ball in the center of midfield and just skipped hop his way around six defenders before passing the ball into David Lintooney who skipped the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net for a 3-1 win.
Milchama 3 (Copperlee 35, Bantin 54, Lintooney 81)
Beefy-Bumble-Holding 1 (Jones 7 Pk)
The cricket match ended 400-102 after 24 innings and the baseball game ended 28-3.

Jeruselem U21s let soccer do the talking
U21C18 - two group stage games have been played. Jeruselem have made the 2nd round with two wins.
Big talking Jon Parkin took on Jeruselem in game hoping to take down the 8th seed after a legal fracas and Jeruselem is suing Jon Parkin over false reports over the death of a Jeruselem FA lawyer, who is well and alive. Well, we smashed the Jon Parkin hopefuls 6-2 to show Jeruselem is not all talk, we use our soccer to show who is superior.
14th seed Liamist States was our next opponent. They proved a much more difficult opponent but Jeruselem prevailed 2-0 over in a game of many chances. Liamist States did not play badly, they just played a team who won 6-2 last game.
What's up with 5-3 scores in Group F? Liamist States and Jon Parkin got wins against Liverpool England with the same scoreline - yes 5-3. Now, people cannot complain about lack of goals in the U21C18, can they?
Day 3 - We play Liverpool England and might win say 5-3? Random chaos rules!
The real game is Liamist States vs Jon Parkin. Jon Parkin must win as they have a worse goal difference (because of us) and a draw would allow Liamist States to the 2nd round. One of these two can finish first provided we lose and they win. Liverpool England cannot make the 2nd round.
No prizes for who we prefer to make the 2nd round.

"Nice victory," came the voice behind him. Khim recognised it as Ceri Salisbury's, "always good to beat Crystilakere."
Khim turned from watching the Under-21 side warm-down and eyed Ceri, in his expensive suit.
"Ye boogers are always around when the records and statistical landmarks happen, aren't ya?"
"How do you mean?" Ceri's eyes glinted as he professed a lack of knowledge he most certainly had hidden away somewhere.
"Well," Khim said, leaving the warm-down session to an assistant and stepping off the grass towards his friend, "this Four-One victory over the Crystils was our sixty-fifth win in our long and prestigious Under-21 history. It was also our one-hundredth conceeded goal, which is more of a landmark than most."
Ceri considered this for a moment, the laughter of victorious young players echoing in the now-empty stadium.
"Let me tell you a little story about patterns and landmarks, Khim," he said, taking his hands out of his pockets and mildly gesticulating, "we all know Simeone Di Bradini. You know his favourite number?"
"Ten?" Khim guessed.
"A common misconception," Ceri said, "as that's the number he's most famous for, wearing it for the Daii and Starblaydia. He also wore number Nine for Alan City and currently Eight for Kiiarana, don't forget. His actual favourite number is Four. Now, apply that to his footballing career: Four Under-21 Caps, Eighty-four Senior caps with Forty-four Senior goals. All divisible by four, of course. His name has sixteen letters in it, four squared. His first Managerial title was in the Four Nations Invitational. He cost Forty Million Credits when Alan City bought him god-knows-how-many years ago and went to the World Cup Finals four times."
"That's a lot of fours," Khim noted.
"It is when you look for that particular number, yes." Ceri raised his eyebrows. "But you could easily take numbers such as One, Two, Three, Five or Ten and apply them to his career too, then you'd find something significant in those. If you look for a pattern you will find one, real or imagined."
"That still does'nae explain why your people only appear when landmarks happen."
"Do we?" Ceri paced along the side of the pitch slowly. "Isn't everything we do part of some landmark? Playing matches, scoring and letting in goals, wins, draws, losses, titles, wooden spoons, caps, corners, free-kicks, cards. How about the number of steps each player takes whilst on the pitch? Perhaps there's something significant in that. If it's all a pattern, Khim, as everyone seems to think, we're going to find that pattern one day and then the world will be our lobster."
"Oyster." Khim corrected.
"Does it matter?" Ceri's tone was serious. "Win, loss. Goal kick, corner kick. Lobster, oyster. Purple, teal, orange, red, blue, green? If you can figure out precisely why one matters and the other doesnt, or even the relationship between them, then you're a better analyst than me."
"So, what is your point?" Ceri chuckled softly at Khim's question.
"My point is," Ceri said as he halted his pacing back and forth, "that we're always here. You can't figure out the overriding plan if you don't have all the information to look-"
Ceri broke off as a ball rolled towards his feet. The lads -and ladies, now - had been holding an inpromptu penalty-taking practice session. With a single step, Ceri stepped into the path of the ball and whacked it with his right foot, making an unseemly scuff mark on his excellently-polished shoe. The ball flew in a high arc towards the goal. Julio Kyrile, the man with the gloves, realised where it was going but was too late to do anything about it. The ball snuck in under the bar and nestled in the bottom corner at the back of the net. The Under-21s applauded.
"But can ye, though?" Khim asked.
"Now you're getting the hang of it." Ceri smiled and spun on his heels, before walking out of the stadium.

Before the match against Klakistany…
Total ‘n’ utter silence in the Spruitland dressing room, except for the sound of goalkeeper Tristan Verelst bouncing a football up and down on the tiled floor like a basketball. Less than fifteen minutes to go before the start of the match, and the Bunnies were waiting for their coach to come in and give them their pre-match scolding. Paulo Bachchan (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Paulo_Bachchan), the hot-tempered Starblaydi who was coaching the Bunnies, had not been happy with the team’s level of play in this tournament. And now he was late, which was not a good sign, so the players’ nerves were being put to the test.
The monotonous bouncing sound suddenly stopped as Taki Sala snatched the ball on the way back up and tossed it through the room.
“Stop play with ball, dammit! Bump-a-dee-bump-a-dee-bump, over and over, is making me cuckoo!”
Every Bunny in the room gazed at the semi-Rejistani, who they had never before witnessed losing his temper. Verelst nervously looked up at the scrawny forward, openend his mouth to say something, but decided against it.
“That’s the f***ing spirit!” The Bunnies collectively jumped up from the sound of their coach’s voice coming from the doorway.
“I want you all mad as hell!” Paulo Bachchan slammed the door shut with such force that it blew straight out of its hinges. The players didn’t even notice, their eyes were fixed on their coach.
“Today,” Bachchan continued, slamming down a newspaper on the table in the center of the dressing room, “is Take No Prisoners Day. Team captain!”
“Sir?” Little Gary Mariano jumped up, swallowed, and silently cursed his seniority. Bachchan tossed him the newspaper.
“Read!”
“Lovisan roleplay level at all-time high…”
“Not that, you moron!”
Mariano quickly turned the paper around and found an article with a few hastily underlined sentences.
“Klakistany draws with Oliverry. Today was an important match for the Klakistany U21 team. They had to play against the strongest nation in their group.”
“Did everyone hear that!? Would someone like me to repeat it?! Oliverry – the strongest nation in the group!”
Bachchan smashed his fist down on the table, cracking it in half. When the two halves were done collapsing onto the floor, he stood silent for a good thirty seconds, while the Spruitland Bunnies held their breath.
“Ah, the hell with it,” the coach finally said, perfectly calm. “You know what? They’re abolutely f***ing right. We lost to Oliverry. We’re in third place in the group…”
He turned around, faced the wall, and shrugged. “When a new nation comes along and rates Oliverry as a better team than us, and I can’t even, in all honesty, disagree with them, it’s time to face the music. We’re a bunch of sad losers who don’t belong on a football field.”
A few gasps and discontent grunts told Bachchan his words were having an effect. He stifled a smile, slumped his shoulders some more, and added another scoop to the pile.
“Hell, even the Bedistani kids are better than us this year.”
The gasps and grunts intensified. Time to bring it home, Bachchan thought.
“We should just pack up and go home. The way we’ve been playing, we’d probably lose to Klakistany. May as well forfait and spare us the humiliation.” He sighed deeply and turned to the door. “I’ll go inform the officials we’re dropping out.”
Three steps, he said to himself as he started walking. Shouldn’t take them more than that. In effect, he only got to take one step before he was stopped. The hand on his arm, holding him back, belonged to wee Mariano, no less. He didn’t think the kid had it in him.
“Can’t let you do that, coach,” Mariano said with a trembling voice. Bachchan gave the little right winger a stern look, and frowned.
“Give me one good reason, kid.”
“Because we’re gonna f***ing obliterate them, dammit!” A fierce ‘Yeah!’ roared through the dressing room. “We’re gonna give these boys a whoopin’ they won’t forget any time soon, coach!” Another cheer.
Bachchan bit his tongue to keep himself from smiling, and put on a doubtful face. “Well, I suppose, if you all feel that way…”
“We show Klaki-newbies strong team is Spruitland, and we not think insult funny!” Taki Sala yelled, causing another cheer from the group. Bachchan couldn’t surpress his grin anymore now, and nodded.
“Alright then, you boys go out there and show me what you got!”
With another bear yell, the Spruitland Bunnies crashed through the door and stormed out the dressing room, towards the field. Paulo Bachchan silently watched them go. So easy, he smiled. When the clattering of football shoes on tiles had died out, so did his grin. He picked up the newspaper from the floor and scowled at it.
“As for this little matter…”
He pumped his lungs full of air, put on his battle face, and stormed out the dressing room, towards the Klakistany press room.

Kodikits Give Up 4, Settle Fior Tie
With the CFA staying mum on the roster for the u21 side, the best we can manage is to report that the Kodikits blew a 3-2 lead down the stretch, settling for a 4-all draw with a pesky Bedistani squad that appears to have already qualified thanks to their third day of play.
The Kodikits, led by Mysterious Player Z, looked decent as they stuck with the Bedistani squad. The game looked to be a washout for the national side as the Cubs kept on scoring past GoalKeep Alpha yet the Kodikits played some determined ball and was able to slip into the 3-2 lead before the half.
The second half wasn't as sparkling, as the Kodikits lone goal was not enough to give them a second win in group play - which means the Kodikits are in need of a victory of a hot-and-cold Bettia squad to continue their recent streak of Round of 16 matches. Of course, a tie or win could mean the Kodikits have to face those damned Hyppos from Hypocria again. Which would not show favorably onto the CFA or its u21 development since it's shocking runner-up finish to rival Nedalia.

Draw with Milchama and Beefy-Bumble-Holding but beat Lovisa
For Hockey Canada, there hasn't been a closer Under 21 World Cup since U21WC13 when the Canucks barely advanced past Gaian Ascendancy and Atlantis of Vilita to gain entry into the round-of-16 and eventually the quarter-finals.
Name P W D L F A GD Pts
Milchama 2 1 1 0 3 1 2 4
Hockey Canada 2 1 1 0 2 0 2 4
Lovisa 2 1 0 1 3 4 -1 3
Beefy-Bumble-Holding 2 0 0 2 3 6 -3 0
Game 1 against Milchama did not look so hot for the defending champs as they both played fiercely to a 0-0 draw. Both keepers on both ends were hot in the opener. Kyle Thomas was challenged early in the game but with a bit of help from a relatively new team for the Canucks. Andrew Aberdeen kept the defensive line active for Hockey Canada while Frederik Kuzkin kept the Milchama defence busy. The game was a sleeper as both teams finished to a nil-nil draw.
Hockey Canada looked up to good things when the Hockey Canadians played the Polish Bisons hailing from Lovisa. Kuzkin managed to score in the 14th minute and once again in the 22nd minute to seal the win for the Canucks. Thomas remained solid not conceding a single goal in 10 games for Hockey Canada. A feat within itself.
The third and final game of the Under 21 18 Round Robin in the Hockey Canadians’ group had bottom-feeders Beefy-Bumble-Holding facing the Canucks in a surprisingly interesting match. Beefy came out strong surprising just about everyone: fans, players, critics, even themselves as they were awarded a penalty kick in the 41st minute. Thomas stayed strong with his play and blocked the shot from the hotshot Beefy rookie with no trouble.
Now that Hockey Canada awaits for others in different groups who advanced, the Canucks will play any deserving team in the round-of-16. Could Fmjphoenix get revenge? Rejistania hoist the cup keeping the Under 21 World Cup in Karelan hands? Is this shaky play for the Hockey Canadians going to continue? Does an iceberg filled with beer ever melt when on it’s way to Druida? Find out next time on “The life and times of-“ wait, “Under 21 World Cup 18”.

Three matches, Three wins. Junior Vikings nearly flawless
While the Fmjphoenix senior team is still looking to get that ever so important foot into the upper tier of top football nations, their junior squad has already nailed that position on the head. With a group with two of the top World Cup teams in it, you would normally be thinking its all bad for Fmjphoenix. But when We metnion its U21, its all bad for everyone else. Three matches in qualifying, three victories. Marligantis, Vilita, and Rejistania all fell to the scoring juggernaut that is the Junior Vikings to the scores of 7-5, 6-1, and 3-1 respecitvally. Although that only comes out to 16 goals in three matches, which is somewhat low for the Junior Vikings, they had some strides defensively, only allowing 1 each in the last two matches, giving them a decent 16-7 GF-GA ratio with a +9 difference.
Against Marligantis, Brian Dougood and Siieranu Ijanaeil both had a hattrick, and Laura Boyd added a goal in the final minutes of the match. Despite the somwhat close scoreline, Marligantis was never closer than than 2 goals until they scored their fifth and final goal in the 81st minute. The Junior Vikings thuroughly controled the match and never relinqueshed the lead at all.
Match two saw the first time that Fmjphoenix Vilita meet on any field. Vilita jumped to an early lead, but that was gone within 10 minutes. Jim Jackson had a hattrick, with Dougood, Boyd, and Ijanaeil each chipping in a goal to put 6 past the Jungle Kitties. This was again another great performence put out by the Junior Vikings and put Fmjphoenix on the fast track to qualification.
When the Junior Vikings prepared to face off against the Rejistania U21 squad, you could see revenge in their face. Revenge for the 1-0 victory the senior team had against the Orange-Blues in the Second Round of World Cup 23. Again, the other team started off the scoring with a goal off of a failed attack by the Junior Vikings. The resulting goal was also a misplay by Doug Lafotoya, as he not only missed the loose ball completly, he failed to recover from the coming counter and left the lone Rejistani striker unmarked. But he redeemed himself with two goals on the day, the first drawing the match before the end of the first half, the second putting them ahead in the opening of the second half. Dougood again put a shot past the keeper for his 5th goal of the qualifying round.
With the first spot secured in Group D, Fmjphoenix has prepared itself for its possible matchups. Perhaps they would get an early crack against the reigning champions Hockey Canada, who ended the Junior Vikings many match streak of scoring at least 1 goal. Or is Milchama going to falter and take the second spot in Group C. Or could Louvisa even sneak in and make the current champs or Milchama drop out of the running? It is going to be interesting to see and everyone in Fmjphoenix are anxiously awaiting for the answer to the question, who will the Junior Vikings face in the second round.

WE WIN!
SOMEWHERE (BT) -- Finishing matchday three with a loss, Oglethorpia's own coach van Mistletoe emphatically declared victory, his squad advancing to the second round of the U21 World Cup. "You've got to look at the big picture," he explained. "WE WIN!"
However, others stress the need to hold on, for just one minute. "Now hold on, for just one minute," stressed self-proclaimed football expert Bill Higgins. "What an awful note to end on -- a loss to Sonaron. Now if we all hold on for just one minute, we'll see that there's no reason to get excited -- they're just going to lose."
In stark contrast, the ex-Junior Ostriches most heartily disagree. "With Sonaron out of the tournament, we shouldn't have to worry -- that may very well be our only loss," noted team captain Charles Cabbages III. "It is thus far, and i'd rather no one say anything until that second one rolls around."
And yet even at the helm of the effort, van Mistletoe is grounded in reality. "Let's be real here. We're not going past the second round. When we make it past the second round in this Cup, that's when all my boys's [Luud/Duud van Mistletoe] sixteen children they're about to concieve in total between them go on to grow up in record speed and play on the World Cup 24 Oglethorpia Ostriches squad. That's about how likely it is."
It remains to be seen if sixteen of van Mistletoe's purported grandchildren will play on Oglethorpia's full-fledged WC24 squad if their U21 counterparts make a quarterfinals appearance.

That’s more like it!
Spruitland – Klakistany: 8 – 0
Well, the scoreline may not look quite as impressive as Bedistan’s 11-1 win, but it’s close enough. The Spruitland Bunnies needed to win this match to be certain of a spot in the next round, and they needed to win it convincingly to keep their supporters happy, after mediocre performances so far. Both objectives thoroughly achieved, I’d say.
Needless to say, the young Spruitlanders played their best match of the tournament so far, possibly even their best match of the past four tournaments. Granted, the Klakistanese opponents may be lacking international experience, but their first two matches in this World Cup – a win against Ruventsoria and a draw to Oliverry – suggested this would not be a total walkover. Yet that’s exactly what it turned out to be.
The Bunnies played as if possessed, relentlessly pummeling the Klakistany defense into submission, over and over again, continuing long after the win was thoroughly secured. One must feel some sympathy for the young Klakistany players, especially considering the result of the other match in Group G. If they had “only” lost by five goals, a better goal difference than Oliverry would have seen them through to the next round after all.
“Yeah, well, sorry about that,” team captain Gary Mariano shrugged after the match. “Obviously that wasn’t part of the equasion, we just wanted to prove a point here. We’re the best team in the group, no matter what anyone says. These kids just faced the wrong opponent at the wrong time.”
Ruventsoria’s victory over the Oliverrians is, in fact, splendid news for the Spruitlanders, who snatch the top spot in the group after all, thereby avoiding Starblaydia in the Second Round. Instead, the Bunnies will face the Oglethorpian Time-Travelers, an opponent that can not be under-estimated, but should still be a somewhat lower hurdle than the Starblaydis.
Whether Bunnies coach Paulo Bachchan will be following the Second Round match from the dugout is still uncertain. Bachchan was arrested during the first half of tonight’s match for aggravated assault on a member of the Klakistany press. He currently resides in an Insanician prison cell, awaiting official charges.
Spruitland – Klakistany: 8 – 0
1-0 Sala (4’)
2-0 Provoost (11’)
3-0 Schoofs (27’)
4-0 Provoost (38’)
5-0 Weber (49’)
6-0 Sala (59’)
7-0 Kocarov (74’)
8-0 Dewaele (82’)
Milchama
03-08-2005, 10:16
When Milchama came to this tournament it was not expecting much maybe to win a game against the last place team or the best case scenario sneak away with a couple of draws and get into the second round but certainly not to go undeafeated win the group and tie the best U21 team in the world.
It should have been clear after the first match with Hockey Canada that this was going to be a good tournament the Warriors managed to get a 0-0 draw despite the fact that they had only 33% of the possesion. In the second game the Warriors showed the cricketers from Beefy-Bumble-Holding some real soccer by beating them 3-1. But all the games paled in comparison to the third game where Milchama won 5-1 over Lovisa.
From the beginning the game looked like it was going to be an easy win as in the 3rd minute, from a setpiece, Kunalin forced a great save from the Lovisa keeper. Lovisa was able to clear after that but the defense did not rest long as the Warriors struck 5 minutes later when Ristick passed a perfect ball to Flinters who raced past the defense and shot it into the net for the first goal. Milchama continued to dominate the run of play in the game and on their 5th corner in the 19th minute Matt Bantin headed in his 2nd goal of the tournament for the 2-0 lead. After the second goal the game settled down with Milchama still getting the majority of the play and the chances. In the 38th minute Ristick forced a huge save out of the keeper that he quickly turned into a counter-attack chance which forced a save out of Ollins. The score at half time 2-0 Milchama.
The beginning of the second half the game went from bad to worse for the Lovikis as in the 47th minute Faren took a long shot that was saved but the rebound from Bantin went in for a 3-0 lead to Milchama. After going down 3-0 Lovisa finally went on the attack and created one chance after another. These chances finally turned into a goal in the 63rd as [insert name here] got past defensive weak point Florfenord and shot the ball into the net to cut the lead down to two. The Warriors superiority would not be challenged again. Right after the goal Milchama stormed down the pitch and Copperlee who managed to get free for the first time all game put a brilliant shot into the net for a 4-1 lead. For the next 15 minutes nothing much happened. Then in the 87th minute and the game dying substitute Kevin Grenboro found J.J. Faren who put the ball easily into the net for the 5th and final goal.
Final score
Milchama 5 (Flinters 8, Bantin 19, 47, Copperlee 65, Faren 87)
Lovisa (Striker 63)
The Nedalia Lions
We Want the Blades, scream Nedalians
Games against Jeruselem have never been easy for the Nedalia Lions, so Brent Vent be excused for cringing when the draws for the 2nd round were made. He knew it would be a tactical, strategic, all out battle from the first second to the final whistle. He was not proven wrong.
Although the Lions came away with a 1 - 0 victory over their opponents, to call them the better team on the day would be a misrespresentation of the match. Indeed, when one looks at the overall possession, and shots on goal, one will find that Jeruselem have a clear advantage in that department. However, the Lions can thank a defense that started the tournament faltering, culiminating in their 3 - 2 loss in Matchday 3 in the Group stages, and their incredible counterattack abilities for the victory.
The Nedalian "Magic Act" of Yellow and Houdini were contained in such a manner that the ball nearly never went through the middle field, and possession was limited going forward for the Lions. However, in the 65th minute, a counter attack that started on the right wing with Junansinho finished up with a brilliant one-two play between Yellow and Shmut to put away the goal, and the eventual winner. The defense held firm until the end, allowing goalkeeper Dana Hammond to gain a clean sheet.
So now the Lions have the uneviable task of facing Oliverry or Starblaydia, the heavy favorites, in the quarterfinals. They have never faced the former before, but the team has been making huge amounts of noise in the Group Stages and could very well repeat the feat Nedalia did in U21 WC 14. However, you won't find a Nedalian who would tell you that he, or she, doesnt want to face the Blades next. It seems the road to the Finals in every U21 tournament runs through them. In U21 WC 14, they were defeated by them in the Finals. In U21 WC 15, they were knocked out by them, in extra time, in the QuarterFinals. It wasnt until U21 WC 16 that the Lions managed to finally overcome them, defeating them in the Quarterfinals enroute to the championship.

CELEBRATIONS
NATIONAL HOLIDAY DECLARED AS COUNTRY ADVANCES!!!!
A national holiday has been declared in the Holy Empire of Jon Parkin, as their 5-4 victory sends them through into the last 16 of the 18th Under 21 World Championships, their first ever major competetion.
It was a last miute goal by the Broadhurst Monk, who madly came up for a corner from goal, jumped highest and nodded home. Later there was much controvesy surrounding the goal, as replays show that the 'Monk' fly-kicked his marker, but this is justsour grapes, nothing of the sort happened.
Jon Parkin's qualification will go done as one of the greatest ever upsets in Nationstates football.
The game was close and neither side ever were two goals up. FOr Jon Parkin, Chewbacca scored first, but the Liamist States scored two to go 2-1 up. Dave Murphy scored a free-kick before half-time to bring Jon Parkin back into the game. At half time it was 2-2.
Then, after the break Jon Parkin rose the highest from a Danny Meehan cross, and nodded home. The Liamist States then scored 2 goals in quick succesion to put them 4-3 up. Danny Meehan scored a dramatic equaliser in the 85th minute, which set the scene for the Monk's last kick of the game, to send himself down in Parkin folk-lore.

Young'uns Edge Thirteen Goal Thriller
Bettia 7 (Rhydderch 14 65, Ap Tegryn 37 pen, Teague 44, Howerth 66 89, Devanallt 86)
Harlesburg 6 (Some lads 5 16 43 47 59 77)
Bettia's Young'uns gained their first ever victory in international competition with a hard-fought victory over fellow newcomers Harlesburg.
It was the opponents who opened the scoring early on, capitalising on some slack defending from a corner, before Gwarthen Rhydderch carried on where he left off by firing the Young'uns back on level terms with a scorcher from the edge of the area.
Harlesburg hit back almost immediately with their second goal, but Bettia slowly got back into the game. The ever-dangerous Ieuan Howerth gave Bettia the opportunity to get back on terms when he was crudely hacked down in the penalty area, for which the referee pointed to the spot with no hesitation. Midfield dynamo and team captain Ali Ap Tegryn stepped up to dispatch the spot kick.
Harlesburg hit back shortly afterwards, but Liamistan's Eric Teague equalised straight from the kick-off thanks to a forceful run from Jibril Jenkins. Jenkins' shot was saved, but Teague was on hand to convert the rebound to ensure the two sides went into half-time all square.
Harlesburg got themselves back on front shortly after the restart, then Bettia found themselves two goals down just before the hour mark. That was the cue for a Bettian double whammy. First, Gwarthen Rhydderch got his second of the game, conecting with a low cross with a sweet sidefooted volley. A minute later the Young'uns were back on level terms thanks to a solo effort by Howerth, who stole the ball, burst through the defence and fired home to claw Bettia back into the game.
Predictably the scoreline didn't stay way for long, as Harlesburg went 6-5 ahead ten minutes later, and as the clock ticked down, they would've been forgiven for thinking that they were home and dry. However, a Gwrlais devallt header and a last-minute screamer from Ieuan Howerth meant that Bettia snatch all three points.
Young'uns Hold Kodikits
Bettia 2 (Teague 14, Ffagan 84)
Chicanada 2 (One or two Chicanadans 43 66pen)
The Young'uns were eliminated from their debut Under-21 at the first round stage, but they go home with their heads held high after holding highly-ranked Chicanada to a 2-2 draw.
The Young'uns took the early initative, and Eric Teague opened the scoring for Bettia after 14 minutes with a well-taken shot from just outside the area after a neat pullback from Rhydderch.
However, the first half was dominated by the Kodikits, and their pressure told as they equalised just before halftime. Chicanada dominated the early second half exchanges, and they took the lead shortly after the hour after Clayton Howes was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area.
However, the Young'uns have proved themselves to be made of sterner stuff, and they went all out in search of the equaliser. It came courtesy of a substitute Eurys Ffagan from an Ap Tegryn freekick floated into the penalty area.

Warriors lose 4-2 say next time will be better
The Milchama Warriors exited the tournament today with a tough and gutsy loss against the Chicanada Kodikits. The Warriors looked happy, tired and a little bit hung over after their celebration yesterday for winning the group. The Kodikits, who have not named a roster for their team, came out calm and energetic for this game. The play looked like that early as Chicanada pressed their early advantage and in the 12th minute Midfielder Zed put in a great cross toward Striker Q (Who now we believe is Milchama export Spot Nielson though our sources tell us that he is now a citizen of Milchama) who headed the ball in for the first goal of the match. After the goal the Warriors tried to take control but the Chicanada defense kept foiling them and they were forced to long shots out of the box that were almost all easy saves for the goalie. Although when the Kodakits threatened their attacks looked menacing and it took some great play by both the defenders and goalkeeper Marcos Ollins to keep them from being two goals up. The miracoulous defense work couldn't last forever and it didn't as in the 34th minute Midfielder Zed this time found Mysterious Striker Z who went around Thompson and put the ball in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. That looked like it was going to be the half time score but it wasn't as in extra time Milchama finally got the ball in the box and to great effect as Doni Kunalin slotted the ball home to cut the lead in half. The score at half time 2-1 Chicanada.
The second half didn't get any better for the Warriors as the Kodikits again struck fast and furious this time Midfielder Zed himself did the scoring to the Kodikits a 3-1 lead. The game was now looking like it was going to be a blow-out as in the 52nd minute Florfenord headed a ball off the line. Finally after 10 minutes of defensive scrambling Flinters started his specialty -the one man counter attack- He deked two defenders out of their shoes ran past the other ones and shot the ball strait into the net for a goal and to cut the lead to 3-2. Unfortunately the game did not get any better for Milchama who put in Littner and Grenboro to hopefully stop Chicanada from getting another goal. Their subs could do little difference to stop the Kodakit offensive which again brough another goal from Defender X on a corner kick. Milchama try as they might could not get Chicanada out of their zone and took the loss 4-2.
Final Score
Chicanada 4 (Q 12, Z 34, Zed 49, X 74)
Milchama 2 (Kunalin 45, Flinters 64)
Reactions:
Coach Jonathan Fairbanks said, "To make the second round is unbielevable and to think that the majority of these guys are also starters for the World Cup is even more unbielevable. I can't wait for WC24 to start to show that Milchama will be a soccer power one day."
Dunston Copperlee said, " We were outplayed today. We should have done better but we were to stuck up on meaningless things like the fact that we won our group. We have to not be happy with a second round finish but think of it as a good beginning. Come to think of it God Damnet! a second round finish f***ing sucks we should have done much better god damnet! If we are happy with this there is no way we will ever win anything! what the f***! we should not be proud we should be shooting ourselves for our horrible performance today! Oof we suck.

Jeruselem Government News
Jeruselem crashes out of U21C18, but to friends or are they?
Yes, Jeruselem topped Group F of the U21C18 with 3-1 over Liverpool England (not 5-3) to progress to the 2nd round. The problem was it crashed into fellow nation, 2nd seed Nedalia again. Nedalia beat Jeruselem in U21C16 in the quarterfinals.
In game with the 8th and 2nd seed meeting each other so early, the game was packed out with Jeruselem and Nedalian fans not feeling to happy about having to eliminate each other so early. They wanted a finals battle.
Nedalia won - just. Lion Junansinho scored the only goal in a game where both sides played like it was a semi-final in a very tight defensive game. As luck would have it, Nedalia beat the 8th seed but who is next? It could be Starblaydia, the 4th seed!
Who needs enemies with friends like Nedalia? We want Nedalia to go all the way - win another final.
Our predictions
Bedistan (12) vs Hockey Canada (1)
Despite the seedings, Bedistan have impressed unlike Hockey Canada who only got 5 points in 3 games in the Group stage. We predict the Bedistan (Lions or Cubs) win, but hope Hockey Canada get their act together.
Hypocria (5) vs Vilita (16)
Hypocria won all their games (like Jeruselem) and Vilita are a little patchy in defense for some reason conceding 10 goals. We must pick Hypocria.
Milchama vs Chicanada (6)
Looks like mismatch but Milchama topped it's over with Hockey Canada in it! Chicanada were 2nd to Bedistan and didn't look the 6th seed. An upset - Milchama.
Fmjphoenix (2) vs Pacitalia (10)
Fmjphoenix won all their games while Pacitalia struggled a little. You're nuts if you don't pick the Vikings here.
Starblaydia (4) vs Oliverry (15)
Oliverry was 2nd in it's group with the Blades topped theirs. While not completely at their best, we pick Starblaydia.
Jeruselem (8) vs Nedalia (2)
If you weren't reading the above, you're blind.
Spruitland (6) vs Oglethorpia (11)
Hard to pick, but the Bunnies should make the quarter finals or bounce into them.
Antaeus Rising vs Jon Parkin
Both unseeded but made the 2nd round. Jon Parkin has done well to make so far but Antaeus Rising has played World Cup soccer before. A tight game, but Antaeus Rising should survive.

Starblaydia to Meet Nedalia
Nine-Goal Thriller sets up Tense Quarter-Final
Starblaydia's 90th Under-21 World Cup match was a hundred and twenty-minute, nine-goal thriller as Starblaydia played Oliverry at Under-21 Football level for the first time ever.
2-2 the ninety minutes finished, Starblaydi Captain Danzir Garahildim, and defender Dane Jaegar's second in two matches as Oliverry's finest youthful talent tried to prove themselves to be the equal of Starblaydia's much-vaunted Under-21 system.
Starblaydia, wary of being dumped out at the Second Round stage to an underdog side just like happened two years ago playing Vtorbetin, shot out of the blocks in the first Period of Extra Time as substitute Rabindra Singh struck a cracking shot to beat the Oliverrian 'keeper. A dazzling run by Reynaldo just two minutes later made it 4-2 to Starblaydia, and Starblaydi fans thought they were on their way to the Quarter-Finals for an eleventh time in sixteen attempts.
But, with less defenders on the pitch, Starblaydia were vulnerable to an Oliverrian counter-attack. With just five minutes to go, Oliverry had managed to pull it back to 4-4, and Starblaydi fans were somewhat nervous. Fortunately Khim Azanulbizarn had left himself with one remaining substitution, bringing on sixteen year-old Gino Vogliazzi of Hallad Reavers to shore up the midfield.
Whatever it was, it worked. Vogliazzi himself scored the fifth and winning goal as he reacted first to a spilled corner from the Oliverrian 'keeper. Starblaydia's men in white go marching on into the last eight, where they face rivals Nedalia, perhaps for the first time the Starblaydis go in as underdogs, something they always revel in.

THE STUFF OF DREAMS!!!
SHOCK AND JOY AS PARKIN MAKE QUARTERS
The Holy Empire of Jon Parkin continued their miraculous progress in 18th Under 21 World Championships with an incredible 6-2 win over the winners of Group H, Anateus Rising to progress to the quarter finals in their first ever competition.
The news will come as a shock to the footballing world, many of whom continually wrote off the unknown nation's chances, and many of whom are no longer in the competition themselves. UNLUCKY BOB!!! The nations dream-like cup run has caught the imagination of the whole nation and the world. Chris Kamara on Soccer Saturday was quoted to say to the host of the show Geoff Shreeves,
"IT'S UNBELIEVABLE GEOFF!!!!!!"
Goals from Peter Spinks, Jon Parkin, Chewbacca who has turned this competition around since he was started against Liverpool England, Dave Murphy, the Mean Machine Danny Meehan and Wallace, who was set up by his best friend Gromit.

CHEERIO CHEERIO CHEERIO!!!!!!!!!
'FOOTBALL DOES THE TALKING' AS JERUSALEM CRASH OUT
The newly found rivals of The Holy Empire of Jon Parkin, today went CRASHING out of the 18 Under 21 World Championships against Nedalia 1-0.
Jerusalem have written off Jon Parkin's chances in the tournament again and again, yet it is the debut nation that has progressed to the quarter-finals, whilst Jerusalem themselves have now packed their bags. However, the Jerusalem manager BOB was correct on one thing, Football did do the talking.
Vent does some venting; plays down Jon Parkin chances
Brent Vent, after a heavy training session this afternoon in preparation for Nedalia's match against Starblaydia, did some venting of his own when the issue of Jon Parkin came up.
"I think their bark is bigger than their bite. I personally know nothing about their nation except for the fact they love to talk trash. But now they have directed their comments towards our dear friends Jeruselem, and in my eyes, thats just crossing the line. Jeruselem is a team that has forgotten more football than Joe Parkin's experience in the sport, and its a matter of respect, if anything. Yes we defeated Jeruselem, but did they happen to see the hugging and the applause from the Nedalian fans as our "opponents" walked off the pitch. Jon Parkin needs to sit down and watch, and since they love to say how football talk, perhaps after witnessing such a graceful side as Jeruselem and their fans, they can learn the language of football."

"THEY DID US PROUD"
THE HOLY EMPIRE GO OUT IN EXTRA TIME
The Holy Empire of Jon Parkin's amazing journey through the 18th Under 21 World Championships came to an end today, but what an end it came to.
The heavily written off side, were again told they had no chance against the much favoured Spruitland side, but, against all odds came within 5 minutes of glory. The Holy Empire led 3-2 with five minutes to play but a tired and inexperienced side could not hold on against the relentless attacks of the classy sixth seed. The Broadhurst Monk in goal performed heroics in goal but to no avail as Spruitland eventually netted the hammer-blow equaliser late on. This knocked the stuffing out of the brave Holy Empire, and in extra time the tired heroes were chasing the shadows of the fitter, more experienced Spruitland outfit.
Jon Parkin and Gromit had twice equalised for the Empire after 32 and 54 minutes before a 78th minute Chewbacca screamer against the run of play looked to have sent Spruitland packing. It wasn't to be. To the credit of the Spruitland side, they never gave up and wanted it just as much as we did. We wish them good luck in the latter stages of the tournament.
JON PARKIN - "We have suprised a lot of people including ourselves. Many wrote us off but we've given it our all. I'm really proud of the lads, they've done my nation, our nation proud"
BRIAN HORTON - "I'm proud of the boys. This tournament has put our nation on the map, we've made some friends and a hell of a lot of enemies" (shakes angry fist in direction of Jerusalem reporter) "There's alot of emotion in that dressing room, some of the lads are dissapointed, they thought we could go all the way!"
PETER SPINKS - "We played good attacking football throughout the tournament, against big footballing nations and we fully deserve the recognition we get."
OSCAR "THE GROUCH" ALVAREZ - "Beats eating mouldy burgers out of the bin that I live in, anyway. Personally it's been a rollercoaster for me, I've been offered the chance to move in with Wallace and Gromit, but I declined it - I love my bin, nothing will ever change that."
NB: Oscar still lives in his bin, but inside Wallace and Gromit's shed
KEVIN TONKINSON - (through tears, in uncomprehensible geordie) "This is the best moment of my friggin life, I love these lads, I love em. And I love all yous. (hugs reporter). HAWAY I'm off to get bladdered."
CHEWBACCA - " MWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAH"
I think Chewbacca sums up how we all feel, proud that our nation has shown what it is capable of.

Oliverry play good soccer against soccer playing nation, but they lose anyway
Oliverry lost 5-4 in overtime against Starblaydia, a powerhouse in NS Sports. It seems that Oliverry and Starblaydia met in nearly every existing sports lately(Soccer and Hockey for instance). Oliverry remained faithful in thier attack stance by playing a 2-3-5 formation. Oliverrian players were very boosted and motivated for this game.
First Half: Oliverry had to play defensively as Starblaydia was 95% of the time in the Oliverrian zone. Guillaume Fournier was doing very good as he stopped 12 shots from the Starblaydian strikers.
At the Half-time, the Oliverrian players brought some guns in case there would be another gay cheerleader show, but there weren't. Instead, there was some female wrestling in the mud. Every boys in there were happy, but there were some jealous wifes in there that slapped some of the men here. So we saw a very red crowd when the second half started.
That's when all the action happened. Oliverry took the lead 1-0 at the 49th minute when Jeremie Bureau scored from the wing. But all that was destroyed, as Starblaydia equalised the score at the 61st minute. Danzir Garahildim scored an easy to stop goal in the zone. Starblaydia took the lead at the 77th minute when Dane Jaegar, a defender, scored from the front a spectacular goal in the top right corner. Oliverry riposted at the 88th minute when Marc Lariviere scored on a penalty. So, this game needed the overtime to decide a winner.
At the 96th minute, substitute Rabindra Singh scored for Starblaydia and put the score at 3-2. 2 minutes later, Reynaldo did the same and put the mark at 4-2. But, after, the Starblaydians calmed down without knowing that Oliverry would take the chance to equalize the score. 2 minutes later, Jeremie Bureau scord his second goal of the game. And, at the 100th minute, Benoit Bellemort, Jean-Alan Bellemort's brother, scores his first goal of the tournament. So, Oliverry, just in 5 minutes, succeded the most spectacular return of the tournament. But the issue would be ruled 3 minutes later as substitue Gino Vogliazzi scored on a corner. After that, the Oliverrian players were demoralized and stopped playing for good.
After the game, the Oliverrian coach congratulated his players for this good game. He felt very happy, as the players did after realizing that they lost to a great footballing nation.
The Oliverrian Soccer Association would like to congratulate the Starblaydian U21 team for their win against us and wishes them good luck in the playoffs.

The CFA's game of secrecy seems to finally be paying off, as after a boring as hell 2-all tie to Bettia, in which someone scored off a penalty for the first time in Kodikit History, has led a more fired-up Chicanadan side all the way to the Semifinals - shocking everyone associated with Chicanadan soccer!

After playing a trying game against a very pesky Bettia, this was what the Kodikits were facing. And they faced down some shocking action to make it to the final four for the second time in club history!
First was their exciting and weird match against unknown group winner Milchama. Without a roster, no word on who scored, but the Kodikits put a quick shash on the young squad and quieted rumors of some CFA trouble with this group of players. The club finally built a lead after amassing a 2-1 lead before the half, and was able to knock in two more goals to take a two-goal vicotry 4-2, which set up yet another match with Fmjphoneix.

For those not in the know, the Kodikits don't do well against the Fmjphoenixens, having a 0-0-2 record against them. Yet somehow, amasingly enough, the Kodikits found a new way to win a match: score early and often. Unknown striker Alpha led the goalscoring out the gate, getting a 1-0 lead after a penalty shot after a major tripping volation by he goalkeep. The lead grew to two six minutes later when midfielder Zed scored off a header from a Fmjphoneix defender that was too close to goal. Twenty minutes in and the Kodikits were up 3-0 after Alpha shot a rocket that bounced just so off the bar. By the half the Kodikits had amassed eighteen shots on goal - shocking for a more quiet Kodikit team but almost natural for this more fired up squad - and had what could be viewed as an insurmountable 4-0 lead when a free kick got a header into goal thanks to Player X.
The Fmjphoenixens weren't dead yet, as they made it a 4-2 game in three minutes after the half thanks to some bad tripping plays led to a penalty kick and a corner than was headed into goal. But the Kodikits never faltered and scored the final nail off a long throw from the Kodikit Goalkeep. Fmjphoenix made one last run but could only make it a 5-3 game that never looked all in doubt for the Chicanadan side.

Right now, we're going with a rematch with Bedistan. The Cubs have finally gotten past last cup's diappointing turn and look much sharper than Hockey Canada has. They might have problems with Vilita, who we think might pull an upset over those damned Hyppos, but the Cubs look semi-bound. As for the second half we see Bunneis from Spruitland facing either Nedalia or Starblaydia - and whoever wins will more than likely be the favorite for advancement to the final and even win. Right now we'll say Nedalia, since the last time we did they were ousted by Fmjphoenix. So maybe karma will strike in our favor yet again!
CDR predictions:
Semifinals: Chicanada v Bedistan, Nedalia v Spruitland
Finals: Chicanada v Spruitland
Champions: Chicanada (hey, hope always springs eternal for a nation of rabblers)
In other news, CFA Presidum Quonesh did spill one secret - Player Q for the Kodikit side was not, as some Milchaman people though, Milchama export Spot Nielson (although expect Arsenal and Charlton Athletic to bid for him because they are crazy like that) but rather a female. Quonesh said she did come from one of the top squads in Liga W - meaning WFC Esten, Jaxxhawks or Swans U, but refused to reveal who it was until after the Kodikits win the whole thing or are knocked out.

The rabble is too much this time around
No three times in a row to the championships for the Junior Vikings this time. Chicanda ended a bad run of luck against the Junior Vikings, winning 5-3.
This was after a resounding 4-3 victory over Pacitalia, who is still searching for a way to crack the top teams in the U21. They keep coming close, but they keep falling just a little too short. But dont count them out forever. Their time will come.
But getting back to the rabblers, Chicanda is sitting in a very good spot now, as they are waiting to find out if they play. Experts in Fmjphoenix are thinking this looks good for Chicanda this time around. Current champs Hockey Canada are not looking like a championship squad in U21WC18. Bedistan had an amazing 11 goal outburst, but that is something that has not been seen in the Bedistan U21 scene in a LONG time. Scales could go either way there. Hypocria has been a fast growing side in the past few years, quickly climbing the ranks, almost as fast as the Vilitan U21 team has been falling. But you can never count out a Vilitan side when it comes to football. We are predicting a Vilita vs Hockey Canada matchup with Vilita moving on to face Chicanda. We dont know if we are right, but we will wait to see.

Smooth sailing Spruitlanders secure second Semi spot
(disclaimer: Readers with lisps are to refrain from reading title out loud)
The Spruitland Bunnies advance to the Final Four of the Under-21 World Cup for the second time in a row, confirming their growing status as a youth squad to be reckoned with. Admittedly though, the “smooth sailing” part of the title was mainly a feeble attempt at wittiness, as the knock out stage has not been without difficulties so far.
The Second Round match against Oglethorpia wasn’t too terrible, though it didn’t seem that way when the Young Ostriches – as they’re no longer called – opened the score barely 5 minutes into the game (goal scored by Someone-or-Other III). For the third time in four matches, Spruitland was facing an early deficit.
But, perhaps that experience with allowing an early goal was actually a good thing. The Bunnies refused to panic, and a header-goal from Opdebeeck, shortly followed by a medium-range cannonball from Provoost, turned the table before half time. Team captain Gary Mariano scored the 3-1 in the second half, making the last twenty minutes of the match a fairly relaxed affair.
The bracket seemed favorable for the Bunnies, with a bunch of peculiar newcomers as the Quarter Final opponents. Indeed, “smooth sailing” was expected against the Holy Empire of Jon – who? – Parkin, but the fanatic debutants gave Spruitland a run for their money. Twice the Bunnies had taken the lead, both goals by Taki Sala, but twice the pesky Parkinese battled alongside again.
And it was all hands on deck when Jon Parkin even took the lead with less than 15 minutes to play. Spruitland’s last minute rush towards goal paid off though, with right back Gilles De Wilde scoring his first ever international goal off a corner kick to keep Spruitland in the tournament.
The Bunnies managed to keep up the pressure in the first extra period, and a fatigued Jon Parkin side went down for the count. Two Spruitland substitutes delivered the final blows: One-Eared Juri Kocarov slammed an uppercut into the roof of the goal from short range, and young winger Julien Dewaele hooked one in from the left to take away all doubt.
Too close for comfort, but the Spruitland Bunnies get another chance in the Semi Finals. Not surprisingly, the task does not get any easier from here on, though. Next hurdle will be either Starblaydia or Nedalia – either way, the Bunnies better strap on their jumping shoes.
“Obviously I’d prefer to play Starblaydia,” Starblaydi-born Bunnies coach Paulo Bachchan grins. “These kids are oh for two against them on the Under-21 level, but that was before I became the manager. This would be a good time for some proper payback. But if it’s Nedalia, that’ll be just fine as well.”
Regardless of the Semi Final opponent, Spruitlanders are optimistic about the Bunnies’ chances. After a Quarter Final spot two cups ago and a Semi Final spot last cup, many feel it would only be logical to go one step further this time around.
“Screw logic,” is Bachchan’s response to that. “Logic is for pointy-eared tight-assed suns a bitches in a poorly fitting jumpsuit, but when it comes to women or football, you might as well strap a bow-tie around your pecker, it’ll be more helpful than logic. Actually, come to think of it, there is some logic we’ll be using: we’ll be scoring goals – if we score more of them than the opponent, we win.”

Bunnies destroy a Parkin lot
Did Jon Parkin knock off Spruitland? The Bunnies as we predicted correctly did beat 11th seed Oglethorpia to meet Jon Parkin who beat Antaeus Rising 6-2 earlier. The rookie with rising reputation and loud media - taking on the Bunnies who have impressed in the last few U21.
Spruitland won 5-3, yes we didn't copy that score from another game it was 5-3 over Jon Parkin after leading 3-1 in the 1st half. Once again, the Jon Parkin defense failed after conceding 6 against Jeruselem and now 5 against Spruitland.
So we lost 1-0 to Nedalia, who happen to be the 2nd seed but at no time did we concede more than 2 goals in the U21C18. We may have fallen in the 2nd round, but this team does have the defense to be ready for World Cup 24.
Looking at rivals to Nedalia - this U21C18 will be hard to pick as there's just too many quality teams around.
Nedalian fans? Want a free ticket to the Nedalia vs Starblaydia game? Yes, JGN is giving away tickets just for those Lions who want to watch the best game around. The first 500 callers to JGN in TnUI, will get their tickets paid for. Fans must be Lions fans and be show up at the JGN news van to collect their ticket. Good luck!
One more thing, one of those ticket holders will win a Jeruselem World Cup 23 jersey signed by the entire Jeruselem World Cup 23 team who won their first ever Group Stage game. Yes, a collectable - all framed and genuine.

Kodikits Trip Up Against Hypocria Again
Chicanada is now 0-1-4 against those damned Hyypos after a simple 1-0 loss to Hypocria in the semifinals knocked the Kodikits to the third-place game.
Considering the junior nationals were expected to lose to Milchama, this is considered an accomplishment by many.
Reports have said that Jasmine Plo', who shined last year for the Kodikits in the Ro16 run last season, played the match in spite of a hamstring tear. However, the lone goal scored came well after she was pulled after she stressed it too much on a penalty save. Rather, the goal came off a header from a Hypocrian midfielder in the 83rd minute, and the Kodikits - already tied and trying to get the game to penalties apparently - ran out of steam in front of the Hyypos goal during injury time.
The Kodikits and Hypocria tied on total shots - 23 - with only one yellow comming onto a Kodikit defender right in front of the Kodikit goal.
The Kodikits now wait to see if there is a third place game and if they get the Bunnies of Spruitland, some dwarfs from Starblaydia or the Kodikits' other nemisis from Nedalia.

The Bunnies will get their re-match!
Nedalia – Spruitland: 1 – 2
Second half goals by Sala and Provoost saw the Spruitland Under-21s come away victorious after being - yet again – a goal behind. In a tight semi final between two motivated teams, the Bunnies managed to get some payback for the senior squad’s recent loss to Nedalia in the semi final of the Cup of Harmony. And more payback might be coming soon.
No matter what coach Paulo Bachchan may think about football and logic, it’s all coming together for the Spruitland Bunnies in Under-21 World Cup 18. Quarter Finals two World Cups ago, Semi Finals last time around, and – oh yeah! – all the way to the Final this time.
This consistent string of one-step-betters might suggest the Bunnies are destined to lose the Final, to come back and win it next time. The final opponent, however, will be Hypocria, and that changes matters entirely.
There’s been an ongoing rivalry between the two almost-neighbours (seperated by a body of water) over the previous years, taking a flying start in the pre-World Cup 23 Baptism of Fire Cup. Spruitland won that first battle, keeping the Hyppos out of the BoF Final to go on and win the tournament.
Since then, however, Hypocria has won a minor scuffle or two on a club level, and their youngsters dealt the Bunnies a semi-serious blow by beating them in the previous Under-21 World Cup’s Third Place Playoff. With many of the same players still on the team, the timing for the re-match couldn’t have been better.
This time, the Under-21 World Championship title is at stake, and many Spruitlanders believe that will make revenge inevitable – and extra sweet.
“Spruitland and Hypocria have been in different halves of the table,” team captain Gary Mariano says, “and we’ve both been concentrating on our own obstacle course. But we haven’t forgotten that third place match from last time, and if you think about it, it was almost destined to end up this way."
"Our nations pretty much emerged on the football scene at the same time. We were in the same BoF, we both had our Under-21 debut in World Cup 15, and have been rising up the ranks side by side. This'll be the Final of the new generation. They robbed us of bronze last time around – this time, we’re not gonna bend over that easily.”

In his room are Teke Daran himself, his extremely beautiful and extremely dumb female secretary Vinkil Setasil, Siki Rej, who is carrying a laptop connected to the Hexatux, U21 coach Lyku Kansu, his vice Kansu Lyku and a yellow hooded person referring to himself as Monk Vajeti.

-------------------Bryan 'Pop' Duiker's first match in charge of the Vilitan Under 21 International team was arguably against the toughest of opponents. Gritted against the Junior Orange-Blues of Rejistania, Duiker was thrusted into the media spotlight with most outlets wondering how he could ever compete with the sporting giants. Duiker's highly inexperienced Jungle Kitties included uncapped names such as Andronik Taimazov, Reima Tahvanainen, Winfield Karega, Rayford Watson, Pasi Pulkki and 14 year old backup goalkeeper Jimmy Jaded. But Jaded also had some experience behind him as well. Fresh off participating in the final of the AOCAF competition where Santo Kecker led the Regional Cats to victory, Goalkeeper Jawz Oaker, Defender Timmy Leaburn, Midfielders Contall Rumaoa, Toby Tzikas and Rowan Majara, and Forward Tika Massa were all looking to build on their success and take another championship home in what, for Rumaoa and Leaburn, would be their last Under 21 attempt.
The Jungle Kitties looked strong from the opening and Contall Rumaoa played the match of his international career, surely catching the eye of all the visiting scouts. Rumaoa deservedly opened the scoring 36 minutes in, and Kris Wrice surprisingly doubled the Vilitan's lead after a perfect through ball from Majara shocking the Rejistanian defenders as the Vilitans took a 2-0 lead into half time. It appeared that the Rejistanians had found their place at the half and were able to quelle the Vilitan advances, but their defensive style of play was not condusive to a return press for victory, and Duiker's first match in charge ended successfully with a vital 2-0 rersult towards advancement into the second round. Before the end of the match, Duiker introduced left midfielder Winfield Karega, a product of the Rammsissil Youth System, handing the player his first ever appearance in a Vilitan uniform.

Pacitalians run afoul of embarrassment
What a poor way to end a tournament. In the last game of eight of the U21 Blue Foxes starters, Pacitalia lost by only one goal... once again, so close, but just too far to make a difference. Once again, Pacitalia exited in the second round, but this time, to add to the disappointment, Pacitalia has dropped to its worst-ever ranking since joining the U21 World Cup circuit nearly eight years ago. Pacitalia now sits in an abhorrent 21st position behind certain 10-19th seed teams that, on paper, have less talent and are supposed to not perform as well as Pacitalia in this tournament.
But it is as though Pacitalia will never have any good luck in this tournament. Consistently, our U21 side is thrown out by lower-seeded teams, sometimes deservedly. Sometimes we're also kicked out by better teams, definitely deservedly. But nobody can seem to solve the puzzle as to why Pacitalia has never even contended for the cup. Pacitalia, in eight tries, has never made it past the quarterfinals. For a team with a lot of on-paper talent, that's a definite underachievement.
A complete revamp of the team is in the works, and just in time too. Eight of eleven starters from this last team are now too old to play, therefore leaving the team open to a complete roster renovation. Lindifeu Zentrescu was horrible at managing, and he's been subsequently sacked, as were his two assistant coaches. That means three new people will be leading this young crop of supposedly talented teens and low-20somethings.
Back again for another round we'll be, despite the fact that we know we'll never win the darn thing at this rate, and hopefully, next time, we show people that we can contend. After all, we do have the talent. We just don't seem to ever know how to use it.

Kodikits Exact Some Revenge, Get Third Place
The Chicanadan junior side went 2-1 against their presupposed rivals this time around, adding a Third Place finish in the mix.
After walloping Fmjphoenix 5-3 and being edged out by Hypocria 1-0, the Kodikits took some consolation in their 3-2 victory over Nedalia in the third place game, getting them some revenge for their U21 Finals loss two cups or so ago.
The Kodikits, expected to stay put at 6th in the world upon completion of the Hypocria/Spruitland final, were led by female striker Olani Pjan of WFC Esten (yes, we got one name out of CFA President Quonesh), who surprised all with a hatrick in the first half, adding to her penalty goal aginst Milchama as well as her goals against Fmjphoneix. Pjan, who led Livingston University to the CFA University Cup last year, looks to be joining Swan U's Cockbill exporte Irene M as the shining stars of womens footy in Chicanada and having her score three for the national team could help her sneak into the main National side. Several coaches expected to be in the race for the National promotion have commented that Pjan's speed and size (at 6'2) could get at least a bench slot for the WCXXIV team.

Pacitalian Game Review
Match Day 1 - Pacitalia v Hypocria
Pacitalia did show some offensive life but also showed that they are an awkward team when playing AOA. The three goals scored showed lots of talent from Massimo da Scupeta and Andreos Charisteas, but were not enough to win as the neglected defence (thanks to AOA) let five goals past in a loss. Pacitalia has never won against Hypocria.
0 - 0 - 1 , 0 pts , 3 : 5 : -2
Match Day 2 - Pacitalia v Cockbill Street
Pacitalia, at least for this match, did not seem to play on AOA, with a more reserved defensive-style mode. 1-1 was the final score on a smooth kick by Bertrando Massimatto and a return goal by a Streetian midfielder to knot up the result and earn Pacitalia at least one point.
0 - 1 - 1 , 1 pt , 4 : 6 : -2
Match Day 3 - Pacitalia v PopularFreedom
In the last match of the round robin, Pacitalia had its own destiny in its hands. With a win, they would finish with 4 pts out of a possible 9 for the third straight cup, but at the same time advance to the second round for the fifth straight time. Pacitalia was up 2-0 when they decided to move back to AOA format, and that cost them 4 straight unanswered goals by halftime. However, in the second forty-five minutes, Pacitalia did answer back with four goals, and they won the match 6-4.
1 - 1 - 1 , 4 pts , 10 : 10 : 0
Second Round - Pacitalia v Fmjphoenix
Once again, Pacitalia proved they're not worthy by floundering late against friendly rivals Fmjphoenix. The score was knotted at 3-3 until Fmjphoenix's more successful rendition of AOA managed to do the trick and knock Pacitalia out of the tournament for the eighth straight time. Outgoing Pacitalian forwards Massimo da Scupeta and Andreos Charisteas said they were "disgusted that they had to play AOA in their last game, and playing NOR or ATT would have probably given us better success in this match".

Take that, Hyppos!
Hypocria – Spruitland: 0 – 5
The Spruitland Football Association’s ExtremelyHuge Trophy Case just became SlightlyLess Empty, as the Bunnies snatched the Under-21 World Championship title, and the trophy that goes with it.
The Bunnies’ motivation was at an all-time high for the Final match against their rivals from the north-east, and that showed in the final score. Pundits expected a fairly even match, and for a while that’s what they got, with both teams keeping things thoroughly locked at the back.
But gradually, the Bunnies upped the pace and forced the play closer and closer to the Hypocrian goal, with Gary Mariano breaking out on the right several times to create scoring opportunities. It wasn’t until shortly before half time that this resulted in a goal though, with Gerco Schoofs getting his foot against the ball just in time to slide it under a rushing out Stephen Drakes.
The 0-1 half-time score seemed to promise an intense second half, but unfortunately (or not, depending which side of the stadium you were in) it didn’t turn out that way. Mere minutes into the second period, Hypocria captain Marius Black had to pull the emergency break when Chico Provoost was about to slip through the defense. Penalty kick, and an early shower for Black.
Provoost converted the penalty himself, and with a two goal lead and a man more on the field, the World Cup was as good as won. But the Bunnies refused to slow down, and continued to give the Hyppos the kind of ass-whoopin’ they’ve been dreaming of for years. Goals from Sala, Opdebeeck and – deservedly, as he was the man of the match – team captain Gary Mariano settled the final score at 0-5, a somewhat harsh result for a Hypocrian team that played a marvelous tournament.
“Yeah, five nil is a bit cruel perhaps,” Mariano agrees, “but when you’re in a situation like that, you go for the kill. At this level, there’s no backing down. If it was them, they’d have done exactly the same thing and loved every minute of it. Just like we did.”
With this victory Spruitland wins its second major trophy, after winning the pre-World Cup 23 Baptism of Fire Cup (and that’s not counting the Daily Druid’s Karelan Wooden Spoon). A two-week long celebration period will start in Spruitland the moment the players arrive back home.
The focal point of the celebrations will be an official award ceremony on Kng Alfons Square in New Brux, where His Majesty will personally congratulate the players and award Paulo Bachchan – the Starblaydi head coach of the Bunnies – an Honorary Rabbit for his achievements. Bachchan is only the third person to receive Spruitland’s highest honor, with only Dirk Jools and King Alfons himself ever receiving it before him.

FAF congratulates Spruitland
After watching the Spruitland Bunnies trounch over Hypocria in the finals of the U21WC18, the FAF have sent complimentary Takilan Brownies along with 5 gallons of SuperBrew made from the Golden Cafetiere in congratulations of becoming one of the championship squads. But the FAF wanted to make sure that they know we are coming out hard next time out.
From the sent message:
"We here in Fmjphoenix wish to congratulate your squad on becoming champions this cup. We had a solid belief that your team could go all the way this time around, and we are glad to see your players excell as well as they did. Please give your players two or our delicacies in the brownies and coffee. They are reveared as the highest form of praise in Fmjphoenix and we hope that you and your players will enjoy them. Best of luck in future matches, except against us of course."
Also in news, reports are they SyLy has been looking over some of the younger players in Fmjphoenix and has stated that he will be making lots of changes. With players leaving due to being to old or just being cut, SyLy has hinted that there may only be 5 returning starters. He plans on making lots of changes to bring Fmjphoenix back into the headlight of the finals and more U21WC gold.

Baby Wabbit Named After Bachchan
Odd and messy ceremony for Starblaydi Coach
After taking Spruitland's Under-21 side to their first (and hopefully only, if Starblaydia have anything to do with it) Championship, Starblaydi Coach Paulo Bachchan has had a rabbit named after him.
In what is apparently Spruitland's highest honour, Paulo had a fresh newborn rabbit named after him. For some reason the rabbit was called 'Sir Paulo Bachchan', but as only two others have ever had this honour and one of them is Spruitland's King, we're quite impressed.
"I'm quite jealous of the rabbit, actually," Paulo said afterwards, "he'll get waited on hand and foot for the rest of his life and then will be stuffed for posterity in a palace. Sounds like a sweet deal."
Rumours that Paulo will be replacing Khim Azanulbizarn are, at this point, completely unfounded.

FdFP congratulates Spruitland team on victory
"This is the next best thing to a revenge football kill," claimed now fired manager Lindifeu Zentrescu about today's final, in which Spruitland decimated Pacitalian sporting enemies Hypocria 5-0 in this championship matchup. Not that anyone cares what a fired manager has to say, but we thought we'd humour him.
Truly, though, he is right. After struggling three times in three matchups against Hypocria, not even scrounging a tie or a close game with them, it honestly is nice to see that they are only human.
Maybe next year, Pacitalia will have the same luck as Spruitland did in desecrating the Hyppos' spirit. Not that we want to be mean, but we deserve some glory once in a while too. We just have to play like we deserve it. Oops, did I say that? Back on topic. In the meantime, the FdFP has congratulated Spruitland for its win, and said in an official statement, "the sport of football can only grow, not diminish, when teams share the glory of winning", noting that there has never been a threepeating national side in this cup's history, and that variety amongst the champions has always existed.

Damn Those Bunnies
It was the stuff of dreams. A chance to avenge that Baptism of Fire semi final defeat and deny arch rivals Spruitland a big shiny trophy all in one go. Yet it all went slightly askew.
But before that there's a few games to catch up . . .
Hypocria 3 - 1 Cckbill Street
Our Northern neighbours may have hammered the Hyppos in the AOCAF but this victory in the final group game erased those memories. Rytter, Dargo and Bercali scored the goals as Hypocria ended the group with a 100% record.
Hypocria 5 - 2 Vilita
A second round match against football superpower Vilita and an excellent win. Robert Bercali is attracting lots of interest from the Stellar Division and did himself no harm in this game as he scored twice and set up Whelan for a third. Eagles and Black also got on the scorsheet to set up a date with World Champions Hockey Canada.
Hypocria 1 - 0 Hockey Canada
Two years ago it was Nedalia who saw their hopes of retain the title crushed by the Hyppos this time it was Hockey Canada. Unsurprisingly considering the opponants defensive strength it was a game of few chances but only one mattered in the end. Bercali somehow found away around the huge HC rearguard and slide the ball across to Eagles who added another goal to his growing reputation.
Hypocria 1 - 0 Chicanada
Ah Chicanada, we like Chicanada. It's now four wins and a draw in five meetings between the two nations in various competitions. The Kodiaks bad run will end some time but fortunatly not in this fixture. Alex Rytter scored the decisive goal to end the Kodikits championship hopes and put the Hyppos within touching distance of their first major trophy.
Hypocria 0 - 5 Spruitland
Why? Seriously, why? If we had to lose 5 - 0 why did it have to be to them? Hypocria crashed out of the tournament as Spruitland avenged their third place playoff defeat of two years ago in style. Schoofs put the Bunnies in front and it went from bad to worse as Black conceded a penalty and received a red card for his troubles. Provoost converted to make it 2 - 0. Sala, who had scored against Hypocria in the third place playoff two years ago to put Spruitland 3 to the good. The defence crumbled and Opdebeeck and the Hypocria based Gary Mariano turned defeat into rout.
There's always next time.

Small Animals finish off Lions
Going into the second half with a one-nil lead, the Antaens held out for much of the second half. That was until the Nedalian Striker Lumiere put them back in the game with a breathtaking run. Just as the Nedalian fans had stopped celebrating they were celebrating again with a wonderfully timed one-two that tricked the Antaen defence and put the ex-champions soundly on top. Disheartened, but not giving up the Small Animals pressed the attack for an equalizer, they got it just before the 90-minute mark. Injury time loomed. Most teams would have just settled for the draw seeing they had both already qualified, but both were hungry for the win. Nedalia threw everything forward in a risky move to get the 3 points. It was to backfire as they were caught short at the back during the ensuing counter-attack. Which gave the Antaens the game and the group.

Vilita Sinking?

"We were just crap and it showed and I dont think these guys even deserver to play the next match against Marligantis. But I think I'll let them because the hotels are paid through the end of the week anyway. Plus Marligantis sucks so it could be fun" Duiker said.
Vilita will play Marligantis in the last match of the group stage and a win could allow them to advance to the second round of other results go their way. I'd tell you that Kris Wrice scored the only goal for Vilita, but I've already written too much!

BBH Sunk
Beefy-Bumble-Holding lost out in their final match of the Under-21 World Cup.
To be honest, they struggled to get to grips with the difference in sports. Throw-ins became bowl-ins, the team's bats were regularly confiscated by the umpires and calls to go off because of the rain were rarely adhered to.
In the end, they managed to scramble a draw in their game against Hockey Canada, but it was not enough, as they were knocked out.
The next cup is in two years time, but expect the BBH team to be the same. They are very young, and this is a huge learning curve for them. Plus we can't be arsed with a new roster.

"This nation has an extremly large amount of untapped tallent in its youth. All I want to do is find them." Were his words.

Vilkauos warns of Antaen Threat
Former Tropics of Vilita Coach Helmut Vilkauos today spoke at a press conference outside the city of Somewhere, Total n Utter Insanity, where he has temporarily relocated, temporarily.
When asked about the prospect of coming up against Antaeus Rising in the Under 21 World Cup he had this to say:
"Beware the ides of Elaphebolion."
The confused reporters couldn't make head or tails of this. After hours of extensive research it was found out he was making 2 references. The first being the famous line Beware the ides of March, the warning given to Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. The second being the fact Antaeus comes from the Greek mythology, and Elaphebolion was the closest to March in the Greek calendar. Weird that he would go to all that trouble for a vague reference.

-------------------Well it was Vilita and it was Marligantis. Two nations bound in a gabilliontrillionfillionyillionrillionpillion units of time in empircal alignment. What unit of time we are not exactly sure, but alas it is a unit none the less. Something crazy happens when to empirically bound nations clash together on the same field in a Total n Utter Insanity based sporting competition. They tend to forget to field defenders. Sure Bryan 'Pop' Duiker named some defenders in his lineup, but they sure didnt' spend much time defending, conceding a whopping four goals to their pretty pathetic insignificant others, Timmy Leaburn & Ricata Tivalan were too busy scoring goals to care what was going on in the back.
-------------------But Duiker's Jungle Kitties really didn't need that much defense. Not with 30 corner kicks in the second half alone, for a match total of 53 corner kicks which could be a record of some sort in the eyes of some sporting body somewhere out there. Not to be out done, the Marligantis keeper put on an impressive performance to stop 22 shots off the feet of Vilita Jungle Kitties players! Well, fortunately for Kris Wrice, Esorijan Marelja, Contall Rumaoa, Tivalan, Leaburn and Tika Massa, they amassed a total of 29 shots on target giving the Marligantis keeper a miserable 75 percent save record for the match while conceding 3 late goals to allow the Jungle Kitties to take the 7-4 win.

-----------------------"Did someone say something about Cherry Pie?" Bryan 'Pop' Duiker said to Jungle Kitties backup keeper Jimmy Jaded, who was standing next to him on the sidelines during the middle of the teams vital second round matchup with Hypocria. His team was leading 2-1 at the time on the heels of goals from Winfield Karega and Kris Wrice. It was Karega's first ever international goal. "Cherry Pie!" Duiker did a quick spin and spotted the Druidan pie salesman who snuck into the stadium with a box full of pies. "Here man! Right here let me have some pies!" Unfortunately the Druidan could not make out what he was saying. Duiker had caught the attention of the fourth official, though, who for some reason thought Duiker wanted to make a substitution. "Who's coming off?" The fourth official shouted while Duiker had his back turned. Looking up at the Pie salesman, Duiker was getting frustrated with the noise in the stadium and really wanted a pie. While screaming, Duiker held up four fingers. "Four. Four! Come on I need this now!". Getting frustrated, Duiker ran into the stands to get the pies himself. Taking the urgency of Duiker's voice into consideration, the Fourth official plugged in the numbers into his scoreboard and held it high in the air. "Four Off! Ninety One On!" He yelled. Jimmy Jaded stared queerly at the fourth official. "Ninety One! Are you mad! That's me!" Jaded quickly stripped off his keeper jersey and swapped it for his field uniform. "Boss! Pop! Get back here!" Jaded Yelled "Whats going on!". Vilita's top defender and captain Timmy Leaburn muggled off the pitch. "What the hell is this? Where's Duiker" Leaburn scorned. Leaburn spotted his coach negotiating with the Pie man in the stands and quickly made his way to the crowd. Jaded entered the pitch at the demand of the referree who wanted to restart the game. The referee blew his whistle to continue play. Within 30 seconds the scores were level.... An own goal and two botched backpasses later by a certain clueless keeper playing as a defender saw the 5-2 scoreline in favor of Hypocria. Neither Leaburn or Duiker were seen after the match and there whereabouts are as yet unknown.
