Milchama in outrage overmisspelling

The Borderlands of Milchama are very mad about how Tonissia misspelled the countries name as Milchamia. Prime Minister Liam Horowitz said, "Milchama is a very special name to our people because it means war in our native language Hewbrew, and is symbolic for what are country stands for." The usually quiet press espiecially during the summer is up in arms over such a horrible misspelling some more extreme Milchamians are calling for war with Tonissia.

Warriors get ready for challenge...
Even with the outrage everybody in Milchama cannot wait to see how their beloved Warriors will do in NS World Series. With the draw being announced parties were in the streets and gamblers were getting bets from all over the Milchama will romp and win the group easy. The players on the other hand were expecting more of a challenge Shawn Green said, " The IDF White Sox should be espiecially hard because they have some really good although I'm expecting 3 tough games from all the teams in the group."

Silver slams Mushroom Kingship 12-2

For their first-ever baseball game, the Sarzonia Silver certainly got off to a flying start. Pitcher John Morgan went the distance, scattering three hits and allowing only two runs and first baseman Hank Everly hit two homers en route to an easy 12-2 win over the Mushroom Kingship in the first game of the World Series of Baseball.

"We wanted to get off to a good start and we did that," manager Jim Paulsen said. "We were able to play cohesively and that's not easy to do the first time out."

Morgan struck out a career high 10, with his only mistake on a pitch to third baseman Xavier Toad-Hill. Toad-Hill's two run shot on a 3-1 curveball brought the Mushroom Kingship back into the game for the moment, but catcher Fred Carlton drove in third baseman Kate Schmidt to put the Silver back on top 4-2.

"That was big," Paulsen said. "If we don't score there, they maybe get back in the game." Morgan bore down from there, limiting the Mushroom Kingship to one hit, a single by Toad-Hill in the seventh inning, the rest of the way. The only suspense that remained after that was whether Paulsen would go to the bullpen, and he left Morgan in.

"Morgan threw only 94 pitches," pitching coach Jim Wiesen said. "We're probably going to need the bullpen to be sharp later, so if we can give them a night off, we'll do that."

With Milchama's success in the U21 World Cup the Warriors had to make sure to keep the public with their national sport of baseball. They did just that in the first game yesterday with a 4-2 win over South Packerlands. The game started well early after a 1-2-3 1st inning Al Rosen singled and Tris Speaker, the all time MLB leader in doubles, drove him home with a double to give Milchama the 1-0 lead. They were able to keep that lead until the 7th inning. In the 7th inning ace pitcher Phil Foster began to tire and allowed 2 hits to lead off the inning, then after a pop up and strikeout all looked well for Milchama to get out of the inning unscaved but unfortunately the ground ball to Buddy Meyer was dropped by him and led to the runner on third to score to make it 1-1. The Warriors quickly equalized with a 2 run homer from Hank Greenberg made the score 3-1. The 8th inning was just as good as Tris Speaker doubled home Barrett Hamilton for the 4-1 lead. The Warriors looked to cruise up 4-1 and Mayer pitching well with a 1-2-3 8th. Unfortunately all was not well as Mayer walked the first 3 hitters before getting pulled. That brought in Chad Fernayo, the screwballer who got the next hitter to ground into a double play 4-6-3 but a run scored. That left a runner on 3rd, 2 outs, Milchama up 4-2. The next batter flew out to Hamilton and the game ended 4-2 to Milchama.

The complete game 4 hitter by Manny Rodriguez gave the Milchama Warriors their second win today. The game started well for Milchama as Kenny Merick led off with a single stole second and was driven home by Hank Greenberg to give Milchama the 1-0 lead. The 2nd inning saw some fireworks for their opponenents from Danmarc as Rodriguez who started bad, giving up a double in the first inning, gave up two more hits in the second one of them a two run home run giving Danmarc the 2-1 lead. The lead was to last until the 5th inning when Tris Speaker led off the inning with a double and was singled home by Andy Cohen to tie the game. The inning continued with Danning getting out and Rodriguez bunting Cohen over. Merick was then up and he managed to get a bunt hit to move Cohen to third base. Andy Cohen was then brought home on Buddy Meyer's single. The Warriors then kept on pounding on their advantage getting runs in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings with solo homers by both Hank Greenberg and Barrett Hamilton for the 6-2 win.

This win then puts the Milchama Warriors at 2-0 and now they have their toughest game yet against the IDF White Sox. Manager Micheal Finter said, "IDF has a bunch of current MLB players so they should be a challenge but we have a bunch of former MLB players in our starting lineup including two Hall of Famers so we think we can win. It all depends on the pitching and I trust our guy Erskine Meyer to come away with the win."

Eighth inning key for Silver

With the Sarzonian national baseball team trailing Ruventsoria 4-3 in the eighth inning, the team needed a break to avoid their first-ever loss and got it courtesy of a "mental error" by centerfielder Richard Surbrook that led to three runs in the frame, leading to the Silver's 6-4 win over the now-winless Lions.

Third baseman Kate Schmidt provided the key hits for Sarzonia, including a two run homer and a run scoring double, both of which made an impression on the Lions media, which expressed surprise that Sarzonian women can play with men.

"I don't think about it," Schmidt said. "I just go out there and play baseball." Sarzonian teams have a longstanding rule that forbids discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation, so players like soon-to-be national football team midfielder Jenna Raven can shine on the same fields as men.

But the Silver (2-0) benefitted from lack of thinking on the part of Surbrook, whose ill-timed throw to first provided the team the spark it needed to mark its first comeback victory.

"The story of this game is that we battled back and we caught some breaks," manager Jim Paulsen said. "Our bullpen was key tonight. Luckily for us, Morgan went the distance the first game. We're going to have to do a better job of pitching and catching and hope our bats can stay on fire."

OOC: The Hawk outburst is based off of a real event last week. It was hilarious when he really did this. It is almost a verbatim of what he said after Buehrle was ejected for hitting BJ Surhoff.

WHITE HOT SOX OFF TO 2-0 START

(CSN Sports Nite Report by "Beltin'" Bill Melton)

Welcome, This is Bill Melton. It was a sunny couple of days on the Southside of Chicago as the Sox got the job done winning their 1st 2 games.

The first game had Mark Buehrle getting the win in a 13-8 win. He gave up 5 of the runs in his 7 innings of work. Only 2 of the runs were earned as the Sox defense made 2 errors. Buehrle was ejected in the top of the 8th when he beaned the leadoff man in a play that was revenge for the beaning of Tadahito earlier. One of which was a fielding error by Joe Crede. The other was a throwing error by the same player. This is fueling Sox fans calls for Worthless Joe, or E5 as they are now calling him, to be sent to AAA Charlotte for Josh Fields. Shingo Takatsu struggled in the 8th giving up 3 runs. Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect 9th by striking out the side.

Highlights from the game came with a nice catch by Aaron Rowand at the wall saving a HR. It was reminicent of a Torii Hunter catch. We now go to the call with Ken "Hawk" Harrelson.

"That is hit deep. This could be trouble. Aaron goes back!!! Makes the catch at the wall! MERCY!!!!"

Here is Hawk's call for Frank Thomas's 3 run bomb in the 4th. "Frank hits that one Waaaaay back!!! He looks up!!! YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOOOOOAAAAARRRDDD, YESSSSS!!!!! A 3 run bomb for the Big Hurt! His first of the year and 451st of his spectacular career as he closes in on 500!!!"

Hawk went ballistic at home plate ump Brian Gorman when Buehrle was ejected after throwing a revenge pitch even though no warnings were issued after Sox 2nd baseman was hit earlier by a pitch that was intentional. "Watch out! That hit him. Oh come one!!! Come on!!! Are you nuts!!!! Are you nuts Brian Gorman!!! You got to be!!!! This is just total bee ess!!!! First they hit AJ and Tadahito no warnings issued and Buehrle can't get revenge."

"Boy the game has changed," interjected color analyst Darren Jackson

"Everyone knows what's going on here except the ump. There are some inept umps out there and this is one of them."

Either way, the Sox won.

Now yesterday's game.

Sox won 12-5 as the Bats continue to heat up. Jon Garland went 6 innings giving up 2 runs and getting the W. Luis Vizcaino got mop up duty and gave up 3 runs. Scott Podsednik led the offense with a nice 4/5 day with 1 triple, 3 stolen bags, and 3 runs scored. He is looking to break Rudy Law's club record of 77 stolen bags.
