The New Thought Police

---Floor 142, Appartment A51, Utopian Heights.
Ernest Truth awoke with a start on the morning of the 13th of June 2005, his face was soaked by cold sweat which dripped off of his features and formed a pool on his bed. The term 'bed' was used loosely in the appartment block Love inhabited, the cold concrete slab that he slept on served little purpose more than ensuring he never forgot how expendable he was. How expendable everyone was. Love lifted his head and gazed arround the room, he could see very little as the only light came from the omnipresent Telescreen which constantly haunted the appartment. The upper corner of the screen was printed with a time stamp reading 28:84, Ernest sighed as he rose from his bed, realising that this day would be just like any other. He was in a position he allways told himself he would not be in, trapped by Big Brother, and helping to trap everyone who wasn't. His position at the Ministry of Truth was demoralizing and occasionally sickening work, arresting people who rebbeled against the authority of Big Brother and changing them, then changing history to suit their story. It was awfull, but he had to do it, after all, he would rather be changing people than being changed.
