Mars orbit, over Kajal Mars

Kennet Livingstone, the pilot of the Variable-Landing Diplomatic Spacecraft [VLDS], shrugged sadly, looking down at the surface of Mars. Too much wars. Too much hatred. The pilot and diplomatic aide did not just mean the One Day War. The Relocation Wars, the Last Rebellion, and countless others have seeded the surface of the Red Planet with bodies. For some strange reason, Livingstone felt no anger about it - only sadness. And he was also tired. Physically.

He did not get enough sleep the night before. Now he was tasked with landing his craft on the frozen Kajali seas, after athmospheric re-entry. Of course, the VLDS was a gravship. That wouldn’t help much. The fact it was also a biplane, would, however, make things harder. Much harder.

He heard the Ambassador emit a strange frenzied squeak of horror as the plane plummeted through the atmosphere. ‘We’re going to craaaaash!!! Crash I tell you!’ - screamed Peereeek Hutchin, the Allanean Ambassador to Kajal - or, rather, the person who would soon become one. If he didn’t die first.

The plane made a first pass over the ice surface, then rose again - the landing gear, carried by the VLDS in addition to its floaters, was unreliable and shabby, and so didn’t open. It didn’t open on the second and third try either. On fourth, the plane dipped slighttly, touvhing the glass with a wing, then went cartwheeling across the frozen surface. After it ground down to a halt - amazingly, none of the passengers were wounded.

The door opened, and the Kajali observers - if any - would see a penguin-like being wearing a rebreather and an imitation of the Star Trek uniform remade for his pear-shaped body. This was Peereeek Hutchin, Allanean Ambassador to Kajal, member of the Trek Association of Allanea, and the first Dohwar to rest foot in Kajal.

"Hello, gentlment" - said the penguinoid.
