We, The Citizens of The Most Serene Republic of El Gato Gordo, think that Relgious Freedom is something to be respected. Each person has the right to believe or not believe in whatever they wish. Being new to the world scene, however, we feel that we have insufficient insight into many of the differing religious systems out there. The key to worldwide harmony is respect for those around you. Toleration, (Whatelse?), could possibly bring around peace and comfort in the minds of all mankind?!
Nationally, at the present time, El Gato Gordo neither supports nor denounces any particular belief. Yet it has strong laws protecting the Individuals right the beleive whatever. Also. beleivers, non-believers, and any one else are welcome at public debate regarding religious views on national issues.

This is a request for any new members of the game to step forward and give voice to their nation's particular views on the matter. Any religious or polical ideal may be put forth for consideration by participants provided they are presented respectfully of those around us. I ask for newer nations, so that maybe in a few months, or however long a time, we can possibly get together again and compare our future views.

All nationalities and belief systems welcomed. Discussion only Please. No reqruitment, we're only trying to learn little about the nations around us

As leader of the Disputed Territories of Milford Neath, I to feel that religious freedom is something to be respected. However, as our country's name suggests, there is much dispute and arguing amongst our people, mainly over religion. Our two main religions, Frinkism and Zeeism, offer totally different explanations of the beginning of life and different moral standards, and so arguments and sometimes, violence breaks out amongst both religions' followers. At present, laws are being passed protecting each religions rights, and people inciting hate towards other religions are hastily and harshly punished. This is done in the hope that one day, our disputes and quarrels can be put to rest, and we can become a peaceful nation once more.

What is the respected governments view on the idea of allowing the religion that the crime is against to try and sentence those found to be responsible. For instance the Jews would be entirely responsible for trying and sentencing those Nazi's charged with war crimes. Should they choose to sentence all found guilty to die in the gas chambers after suffering in camps for a time, then the rest of the world would simply sit back and allow it. This seems to be a fair way of dealing with the situation on a moral basis and also financially since obviously the said religion would ultimately pick up the tab for trials and punishments from private donations or governmental assisstance should it be nessecary. Either way you look at it justice is done! What is the most severe punishment your nation presently doles out at this time. El Gato Gordo's is probably public execution by prolonged public flogging. Sometimes the event lasts over an hour. We are always open to suggestion in regards to improving our crime deterence initiative.

In response to the leader of El Gato Gordo's questions, the Office of Homeland Justice has prepared the following briefing.

As the race hate laws are just being debated and passed through the various stages of voting in Parliament, we are still deciding the ways in which people would be tried, and indeed, the possible punishments for such crimes if said person is found guilty. We feel that the idea that those who the crimes are commited against get to prosecute the offenders and hand out possible punishments a viable one, but only if a head of one religion attacks the other. We feel that if a group of Zeeists, for instance, get to prosecute a single Frinkist for crimes against Zeeists, the outcome of said trial would be obvious, and therefore, a fair trial would not be obtainable. It is widely expected that single offenders will be tried in a state court in front of a panel of 3 judges, as per usual.

In response to the leader's other question, the most severe punishment currently given out is the death sentance, dealt out for murder and severe cases of paedophilia. However, our government does not believe that public executions are right for this country. There are 3 means of execution, which we leave the victim's family to decide. These are electrocution, hanging, and in severe cases, beheading.

We hope this briefing has helped the leader in his quest for more information on our race hate laws and corporal punishment.
