OOC: Players Needed for a Structured Character RP

Basically here’s the idea. My character, the Chosen, is destined to change the fate of Allanea. How is yet unknown IC and OOC. Now, the people training him decided to send him abroad to be trained in various martial arts and other skills, and to learn the philosophies of other nations.

This is an opportunity for you to show off the stuff your nation rocks in - and to answer interesting questions about it.

How do people in your nation view war? Life? Death? The universe? Time itself?
What is your nation like, anyway?

Post here to sign up/apply.

I would sign up, but do you want a newb for your ambitious project?

Remember, I've never RPd before.

And am I right in guessing this is a fantasy RP?

Yeah, is there a tech limit?

I'll sign up, sure.

Urgh. Now he's offline.

EDIT: Oh, wait, he's back.

No tech limit, it's a character RP.

No tech limit, it's a character RP.

Is it based in modern times or days of old, with mages et cetera?

I think it's the second one, but I'm not sure.

I'm MT. My nation has a unique cultural identity which I'm still developing. I might not have much time next week b/c I'm abroad tho, but if you can use me for a week or so, I'm in.

I could be persuaded either as Odins or Children of Valkyrja.

Depends on whether you want good or evil basically......(with a cross over in the middle at times)

I'd like to join. My nation is FT, but with strong mythical elements, eg. the ruler (me) is a incarnate demon.
Hallad

Just so everybody understands - the character in question will be more then slightly 'uber' - after all he's The One.

Hallad - what special skills/etc. will he learn in Hallad?
The Eastern Wastes

How powerful will "the One" be? Are we talking superhuman, Matrix-style, godlike, what?

This may effect the range of abilities he can learn in each area.

'uber' doesn't mean that he can't learn form those 'less' capable than himself.
And whether they are not not is for the story to tell.

I was thinking of HIM learning from those MORE powerful than himself, sutch as elemental abilities from national gods.

I'll join. I think I've got the perfect character for your guy to learn from...
Hallad

Well, of course he'll learn economic theory and political science. :D

Anyways, I was thinking learning something from a spiritual leader in Hallad, rather than some form of martial art. Like something from an Imam of the Halladi sect of Islam? He'd learn things about being selfless, free of corruption, hard-working (although, he probably is already). Basic life lesson type stuff.

how about norse gods then?

In Czardas we can teach him a few things:

* Historical stuff. Czardas has a long and colourful history. It was founded nearly 3,500 years ago (if this year is 2005. If not, well...subtract!:D) by an Indochinese people. Later these mixed with invading Germanic tribes from the north, forming a unique cultural identity. Czardas is well known for its historians; they have kept records of all the nations in the same area for many years.

* The sciences. If this is set in the past/future, Czardas has highly advanced technology, in astronomy especially (I'll soon make the transition from MT to PMT) as well as in military equipment and security systems. We could teach your character a lot about chemistry, physics, biology, or any other of the sciences. Our excelling in this field is due to our excellent education system.

* The arts. Craftsmanship especially. Czardaians are known for the little wooden birds (sevyika) that adorn the mantlepieces of the peasant homes in the mountain region. They are a sign of wealth and status; the more sevyika (sing. sevik) you have, the better off you are.

* And—I know it's a cliche, dammit—martial arts of course. In the 400s CE, the Czardaian warrior clans of Czarna (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Czarna) developed a highly advanced technique of fighting with poles, iseka, involving both defence and offence techniques. Up to four poles can be used, often to deadly effect. (For going into battle, the poles are sharpened at both ends.) It is very rare; variants are practiced in a few neighboring countries however.

Take your pick of instructions, and we're off. :)

How do people in your nation view war? Life? Death? The universe? Time itself?
What is your nation like, anyway?
My people like puppies, and horses, and flowers[/nasal nine-year old girl voice]
No, not really.

I would be happy to join this RP, Ive been here a while but, alas, dont get much experience in RPing.
But throwing Goblins into random situations is ALWAYS entertaining ^_^

EDIT:
And now for the list of interesting things that I forgot to put in :P

-Goblins are explosives masters, they can mix it, shape it, place it and blow it up. They just happen to like the more primitive explosives because they make a louder noise and produce lots of smoke.
-Theyre excellent guerilla fighters, tunnel diggers and so forth, it might be difficult to pass this stuff on, since most of it is either made up on the spot or simply instinctual to Goblins, but we can try :P
-Goblins are good short-term mechanics, that is, they can make something work for as long as they need it to, at which point it will fall apart, explode or whatever. Kinda hard to pass on, but again, we can try.
-Goblin martial arts consists of using your entire body as a weapon, if you want to learn to fight dirty, ask a Goblin. Biting, scratching, clawing, gouging and knees/elbows/fists inserted into soft bits are all specialiities. Never get into a barfight with a Goblin ;)

In the temple of the angels there is a prisoner. He is a magic researcher who developed many theories as to the laws and structure of magic. He also made observations as to the true nature of darkness and light, which is why he was imprisoned.

If that's no good, our mystics could teach your guy all about spirts, familars, and the like...

I'd be up for it, could teach magick, philosophy, medicine, combat, demonology/angelology or nearly anything. Depending on what will depend on what 'era/varient' you'll get.
