Salary caps?! You mean you pay hockey team? In RBA, team is composed of all volunteers (many found living in alleys) who play for love of being airlifted to strange foreign country and injured by stick-bearing gulls or own incompetence balancing on frozen water. Paying team salary would destroy artistic integrity of game. Not to mention costing lots of money.

The Guild of Dice, Sporting Referees, Umpires, Judges, and Zambonie Drivers, as it's last official act with regard to the Don Cherry Cup XIV, announces, publishes, proclaims, and sets forth, with little or no intent to incite rioting, the following listing of Post-Cup Standings. Those wishing to take issue with these standings may sit down, or file a Formal Complaint and Grievance with the Guild. All complaints will be regarded as serious matters, and will be officially reviewed, discussed, voted on, and discarded. Changes in standings based on grievances stand such a miniscule chance as to be laughable. The Statistics and Meatloaf Sub-division of the Board of Irreputable Publications have calculated these chances to be slightly less than that of a snow ball in hell.

Formats:

Firstly, something that will not change: the way to form the groups in preliminary phase:

They will be drawn using the way the World Championship uses, which means that we will use the ordr of last cup to place the teams in groups. For example, in the case there are 8 groups of 4 teams each:
1st, 9th, 17th and 25th are in Group A
2nd, 10th, 18th, 26th are in Group B
3rd, 11th, 19th, 27th are in Group C
4th, 12th, 20th, 28th are in Group D and so on

In case there are 32 teams:
The same format as used in the World Cup of Soccer, excepted that the teams will play twice each team of his group.

In case there are 33 teams:

Qualifying phase:
11 groups of 3 teams
Each team plays four times against each other team in his group
The first of each group goes to the next round. The team with the higher number of points between those placed in 2nd place go to the next round.

Group Phase:

Each team play once against each team of his group. The 2 lasts of each group are eliminated. The team are still placed in groups by last cup's final results.

Rankings: Last tournament (full value) + CCXIII (1/2 value) + CCXII (1/4 value)
(yeah, I can be a bored individual:

If Team A won the last three tourneys, they would have 1 point for XIV, half a point for XIII and a quater of a point for XII. If they finished second in the last three, they'd have two points for XIV, 1 point for XIII and half a point for XII. The lower the number is, the higher your rank is. And yes, I will backtrack and take a stab at setting XIII to a ranking system)

Opening Rounds

Regardless of teams, there will be two rounds of group action.

The qualifying round will be made up of eight groups of four, playing in facilities in the north and east of Chicanada. They will play three games (or more) and the top two squads will move on to the main Group phase.

The remaining 16 teams will play in four groups of four in the west-central sectors of Chicanada. They will also play only three games. Teams will be sent to groups based on position and group played in previously.

The top two from each of the second round will move to the knockout stage.

Knockout phase:
Quaterfinals and semifinals will be drawn based of group play. Those matches will be held at the Southampton National Ice Hall. The Grand Final and Third Place Matches will be held outside at the Southampton National Square.

Oh, and even though the Very Angry Rabbits are not here, I just checked and saw that apparently Sarzonia is fielding two squads? Otherwise, any other states or puppets are more than welcome to Chicanada.

I won the rights to CC5 faster. Then again, I was the only bidder for hosting that cup.

I in a sense saved the Cup because everyone else wanted to do better than how I did it.
