In the sky near Hoftburg
The AACA-227 Light Diplomatic Seaplane began to descend rapidly through the clouds, the wide, rolling, beautiful plains on which the Lavenrunz capital stood becoming rapidly evident. The Allanean Ambassador, Jeffrey Sanders, Jr., blinked at his pilot.
"Jeremy! What in the seven hells?! Can’t you read a bloody map straight?"
"What happened, Mr. Sanders?" - replied Jeffrey in a polite ‘english butler’ tone, as he swiveled the seaplane into course.
"Jeremy Wilfred Johnson, I remind you we’re in a seaplane!" - urged Sanders, pointing to the prairiie below. "Do you se any sea here, per chance? Or perhaps a river?"
There was a moment of terrible silence, when Sanders paled, looking in horror to the approaching ground below. His life - as it sometimes does in such moments - passed before his eyes. He paled - though Jeremy couldn’t see that, he understood the fear of death his boss felt. Then Jeremy laughed.
"There’s a small lake right on course, Sir. We’re scheduled to land there."
"Oh." Sanders breathed relief.. "Oh well. Is it just my suit or it’s a bit hot in this nation?"
"No, Mr. Sanders, it’s the suit. Prepare for landing…."
With a short, breathtaking howl, the AACA-227 put down on the lake. Sanders smiled. "Do you think I’ll make a good first impression, Jeremy?"- he said, looking at the Lavenrunzians waiting ashore.
The pilot made a strange motion. "I damn sure do hope so, Mr. Sanders." That was as truthful as he would get.
Then, Sanders slammed the door of the plane open. A moment of stillness - only a second long - began and ended. Johnson, back at his seat, couldn’t help but chuckle.
He was stil trying to understand who the hell thought sending a fursuiter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fursuit) dressed up as the Lavenrunz national animal would be a good idea.
