The Honor of a Knight

The Resurgent Dream

Sir Evyn frowned lightly as he stepped from his car, sword ceremonially worn at his hip. "This isn't the sort of thing knights do." He mentioned to his companion as the older man stepped from the passenger side of the vehicle. "We're supposed to be great warriors and kill great villains, to slay wicked dragons and vanquish demons."

Sir Rhodri shook his greying head. "Knights defend the defenseless and uphold the weak, Evyn. You know that." Rhodri started across the street towards the tall skyscraper in downtown Jolotuc. On the tenth floor he would find the office of the National Association of Shipping Interests. Men with whom he had rather unpleasant business.

Evyn nodded. "We have to get these guys to at least talk with Lady Margaret again or a whole fishing village is going to be suffering."

"It's racism among the rest of the Corral nobility. That's all it can be." He shook his head sadly as the two men walked through the revolving door.

Guild Officer Edward Iolenry adjusted his robes of office as the knights entered the skyscraper. He had been waiting for this opportunity ever since he had heard about the crisis. The Danaans had been annoyed with his presence, of course. But there wasn't much they could do about him. Now, he could step forward.

As the knights passed him, he brushed past them, slipping a paper into one of their pockets. The paper detailed Imperial willingness to solve the fishing village's problem...

The people in the building hadn't actually seemed to mind the man that much. If they had, they wouldn't have worried overmuch about throwing him out. They were not particularly dependent on Roania for business.

The two knights slipped into an office. They were gone for a good two or three hours. After they left a fruitless discussion with the unyielding shippers, Rhodri discovered the note. Pulling it out, he read it carefully, making note of every detail of the proposal.

As the knights left, a small street urchin ran up to Sir Rhodri and tugged at his sleeve. "Please, sir, a man told me to ask one of the knights to come to see him at his office." The little boy strained himself to remember, and then nodded. "It's at the...Ro-ah-nyian consulate, I think he said?"

((OOC: What'd the note say exactly?))

((OOC: Dear Sir Knights,

When I learnt of the...incident between the guild and the fishing village, I knew they would be sending someone of your rank. Don't ask how, the answers would only worry you. I represent a consortium that would be willing to solve the village's problem for very low cost to TRD and its people.

I certainly hope that we will be able to do business, but I prefer to give details in person. On your way out of the building where this letter was given to you, you should be meeting with someone I hired to tell you of that location.

Yours,

(Guild Master) Edward Iolenry

Both knights showed up at the Roanian consulate. Rhodri spoke. "We have an appointment with Edward Iolenry."
