Clocks Ticking, and Matters Unknown

Austar Union

Imperial Statehouse, Anatoba City, the Absolutionist State of Austar Union

It was another day, another time. Yesterday had proven not to be particularly eventful, and today unfortunately, was the same. Except that today marked the increase of the Austarian Economy, which notably was booming forward despite international decline. Reading the Anatoba City Times, Indigo kicked back in his office and gave it a good reading. From the top headline - which related to the Economy, to the general opinions, to the Business Section in particular, and then forward again to the Sports. Sports was interesting at least, it could be surprising that the country's international participation was minimal. What did they have in the Union? Economy, Business, Economy, Business...

Sighing, Indigo turned to the Economy section once again. He did recieve reports from each of his ministers, but they had proven to be empty today. Most days, were fairly uneventful - with only the occasional thing being reported. He remembered. Indigo had planned to contact the Finance Director for lunch. The man who had been building upon and promoting the Union's internal industries deserved a day away from the office. Yes, he would record this, remember to contact the man.

Contact Michael-Robert Berkley about Lunch, he wrote for himself.

With the information being stored on his electronic to-do listing, he would surely remember. In the meantime, he looked outside to the gardens where he saw a few birds playing in the sunlight. Smiling, he turned to the interior of his office, and read the short column which had been dedicated to reporting the national economy.

Industries Surge as Economy Leaps Forward
With the national economic index being relatively stagnant for the past months, the latest reports set out from the Reserve Bank of Austar Union gave economists the break that they were looking for. In the meantime, while it surged ahead of regional markets once again (breaking the record for the greatest distance to our nearest competitor), not much could be said that our regional partners are much better off.

Although the Tourism Industry is reaping the benefits in regional neighbours such as Menelmacar, the recent success appears to have had little effect on the already growing market. Unfortunately however, our own success appears to have had extremely little effect on the lower economies of the region, their populous still remaining in a state of poverty. With aid being given to our own region limited, some tend to view the Austar Union as overly privilaged. In the meantime however, the average income remains steady at some $30 000 USD, making the region actually quite wealthy, compared to those such as the European populous. The Austarian Dollar sits worth just under $2 USD per $1 AUD, and GDP Per Capita is now sitting at approximately $45,800 USD.
