The Beginning of Diplomacy [Open]

Leader Alaric Lämmermeier sat at his ornately-decorated desk in the capital city of Schwerin. He was dressed in his full cotton uniform, his black Officer’s Cap covering his neat blond hair and shadowing slightly his pale forehead. His light blue eyes examined a piece of parchment in his hand with his eyebrows furrowed with contemplation. “Wilhelm, do you honestly believe this will work? I am not so sure...” Alaric questioned. His voice was deep with masculinity, his very Germanic accent overpowering it.

“Oh, of course, Herr Führer. It must. I edited it a thousand times,” a voice came in return with a similar accent. The man referred to as Wilhelm was similarly dressed, though his jacket was not as abundantly adorned with insignia. Like his leader, he had a pale tint to his complexion, though his hair and eyes were different. His hair was much darker, his eyes more of a shade of green. “Herr Führer, if you do not accept it this time, the idea may as well be scrapped. There is nothing else that I can do.”

Alaric paused for a long moment, his eyes never leaving the paper before him. Upon looking up to the other man, he gave a soft nod and spoke coolly. “Fine. Send it. If it gets this nation into trouble, it will be your head. Am I making myself clear to you?” He dropped the paper onto his desk and lowered his gaze again to other items sprawled across the dark wood of the desk’s top.

“Oh, yes, Herr Führer. Very clear.” Wilhelm took the paper nervously from Alaric’s desk, backing away with a sort of bow as he did. “I will send it straight away.” Upon approaching the door, he hurried out, sending copies of the message with every possible method to neighboring nations.

The message read:

Most Honorable Leader,

It has come to our leader’s attention that we currently no one in our home embassy, in The National Socialist State of Nazismus. He has decided to open his doors to foreign powers and to offer trade to other countries. While we do not have much to offer in the way of goods, we are a nation that is loyal to its allies and are prepared to send weapons and financial aid if the need to do so arises. When our production of other goods is properly begun, we are also prepared to share our newfound wealth.

Our embassy building is a large one and each room is equipped to house anywhere from one to three diplomats and their respective guards, approximately two guards were diplomat. For our own security reasons, it is requested that each guard carry no larger weapon than an assault rifle. Up to three carried weapons are permitted, rifle included.

All replies to this message are welcomed and we anxiously await them.

Sincerely,
Wilhelm H. Emigholz

Outer Ministry, The United Duchies
Office 1389b

The small civil servant sat quietly opening the mail. Various letters from foreign departments were opened, read, classified, and then tucked into the appropriate cubby built into the wall next to him.

A recent announcement of decleration of war was opened. The civil servant read it quietly, typed in the name of the country, and noted it's population was still in the low millions. And that they had declared war on everyone else in the world. A fact sheet on the nation was printed, stapled to the back of the letter and filed under.

Nations/War/mostly harmless.
It was a large box but the number of young states now declaring war at an early age were far less than they had once been.

The next letter was from The National Socialist State of Nazismus. The clerk shook his head as he read the name. Then blinked when he realized what the letter implied.

It didn't go into a cubby to be sent on but went into a small cylinder. The cylinder was placed in one of several metal tubes rising from the floor. The letter and the tube went off into the bowls of the Outer Ministry.

Upon the arrival of the first reply, Wilhelm was startled by the young male secretary's voice. "A reply to our message, Herr. It is from the Permanent Assistant Under-Minister for Young Nations. The United Duchies, Herr."

"Danke sehr..." He took the letter from the secretary and read it to himself before hurrying to his leader's office. The door swung open and through it he ran. "Herr Führer, we have a reply. It seems this..." he paused to read the man's name before continuing, "Herr Pathus... he wishes to know the degree of National Socialism that has been implemented in this nation. He also refuses to send an ambassador."

The leader held out his hand for the reply. "That is understandable. Give it here and I will pen the reply myself. Go back to the mailing center and wait for another reply."

Wilhelm did as he was told and backed out of the room with a bow as he had before.

When his secretary was out of sight, the leader began to respond.

Most Honorable Assistant Under-Minister,

It is completely understandable that you wish to know more about my nation's governmental policies. It is also understandable that you do not wish to send an ambassador. This nation is by far a minority in its ideals and this nation is prepared to accept the beliefs of the majority as long as they are not forced upon us.

In The National Socialist State of Nazismus, military duty is required of men for at least one full tour, the equivalent of one year. Capitalism has also been outlawed and most business to date are owned by the government. The natural resources of this nation are much appreciated and the environment is a very large priority.

The government as well as the public believe in a rugged sense of individualism and refuses, in most cases, to aid others. The nation's education system is top-notch and teaches a wide variety of topics, a fair discussion of other governments included. A strong sense of pride in one's country and race is also instilled, but that is to be expected. Not many nations teach their youth to hate their own country.

If you would like more information or you feel this is enough to establish negotiations, please feel free to reply.

Sincerely,
Alaric C. Lämmermeier
Führer of The National Socialist State of Nazismus
