Sam Cheatham stared straight forward, watching the in flight movie. It was some picture about Duke Geremin ap Beaumayn's involvement in the Crusades. It was fairly good but she had seen it before, and more than once.

Sam allowed her mind to wander. She was wondering if she'd be able to play much football in her host country of Maineacs. She had heard they were really into hockey. In fact, interest in hockey had been one of the questions asked to perspective exchange students. Sam had no idea if that meant that other sports were unknown or simply that hockey was the most common.

The girl smiled to herself. There was a lot she didn't know about where she was going. It was a new country, with which her government and even the world had thus far had very little contact. Very few high school students got to be the first person from their nation to set foot in any given foreign nation but that is exactly what Sam would be doing when the plane arrived.

"Sweetheart, I still think we should send a bodyguard with you." Maineiacs President Anderson McDermott said to his 16-year-old daughter, Allison.
"Daddy, NO! You promised. How would it look if you went back on your word now? Besides Uncle Chazz just went to Palixia for that concert thingy, and he was alright."
"Your Uncle is a grown-up, and he's not my daughter." He said to her.
"How can I learn about other cultures with some goon foolowing me around 24/7? Are you gonna make him go with me when I pee?" said Allison.
"Watch your manners, young lady." said Pres. McDermott. "And I'd rather you didn't learn about other cultures by getting kidnapped."
Allison rolled her eyes. "I'll be fine daddy. I know how to be careful. What do you think will happen? I'll get knocked up by some Daanan guy?"
"That's not funny" He said.

OOC: Do I just RP one student, or can I switch between them?

OOC: No, do more than one. I was just introducing characters one at a time. And respond to my character's arrival, don't just rp your students.

Maineiacs' Secretary of Eduction LaVerne DuBois waited in the terminal of Maineiacs City International Airport awaiting the plane now taxiing to a stop: the plane carrying the exchange students from The Daanan High Kingdom. She was nervous -- to say the least. The reputation of the nation rested on whether she could make a good impression on her visiting charges. She hoped it would all go smoothly, especially since trade negotiations with several countries were going on, but too slowly. She steeled herself and fixed a smile on her face.

Sam, a rather short young woman, looked up at Sanyk as she got off the plane that was apparently carrying all of the students. Sanyk, of course, was a Troll, a muscular blue woman approaching eight feet in height. Sam looked around the airport briefly. "Are we really supposed to meet a cabinet minister?"

"Indeed." Sanyk replied. "The Minister of Education will be here to meet us personally."

Sam nodded and the girls looked around. Soon, they spotted the Minister and all ten of them began to move in her direction. Sam smiled. "Hello, Madame Minister."

Allison McDermot was met at the airport by her host family, the Winiks, carrying a sign with her name on it. The family consisted of a fairly young looking blond mother and a brown haired, thin father who looked a few years older than his wife.

Allison looked around and saw to people holding a sign with her name.
"Hello, I'm Allison McDermott. I'm pleased to meet you." she said politely, extending her hand and hoping that that wasn't considered a faux-pas in her host country. She regretted not having more opportunity to learn about the culture of the Daanan High Kingdom before she left. "Can you show me where the baggage claim area is?" Allison looked at her host parents; they seemed pleasant people, although not what she expected. Then she realized how silly that thought was. After all, she'd had no clue what to expect. she idly wondered if the other students from Maineiacs were feeling similarly awkward, and if the Daanan students were as well.

Mr. McDermott nodded. "Come right this way. I'll get your bags for you. You must be Allison."

Meanwhile, the Danaan students waited for the Minister to speak.

LaVerne DuBois spotted the two girls from the Daanan High Kingdom, and was taken aback, to say the least. She wasn't quite sure what to make of the large blue-skinned young woman, She wondered if President McDermott had known of this before hand, and if not telling her was his idea of a joke. She was determined not to let surprise show in her face or her voice, but if Anderson was playing a joke on her, she would definitely have words with him.
"You must be Samantha and Sanyk." she said "I'm LaVerne DuBois, Secretary of Education. On behalf of the people of Maineiacs I welcome you to our country. Would you like to follow me to baggage claim, then we can talk about where you'll be staying, and I can anwer any questions you might have about what to expect while you're here."

The ten Danaan students nodded. "We'd love to." Sam said. Sanyk moved to follow, as did Corrina and Hannah, both Pooka with animal features. Aiwyn moved gracefully to the front, shining with preternatural beauty and tucking crimson hair behind elegantly tapered ears.

Aiwyn smiled to the Minister. "So where are we all staying, ma'am?"

The McDermotts got Allison's luggage for her, walking it to the car.

"Well, for tonight, a dormitory on the campus of Maineiacs University has been reserved for you. Don't worry about displacing students, the University is on break right now. Tomorrow, I believe President McDeromtt is planning to welcome you all, then you'll be introduced to your host familles." replied LaVerne. "please let me our some one at the University know if there's anything we can do to make your visit more enjoyable."

Allison followed her host family to their car. She hoped the others got to the airport safely and wondered when they'd get a chance to see each other.
"Thank you for getting my bags for me, sir. Is your home far?"

Sanyk nodded. "Will there be furniture of the appropriate size for me, ma'am?"

Corrina's lightly furred, muscular golden tail beat lightly on the ground as she moved with the others. Hannah smiled a little. Aiwyn just shone.

The Winiks drove Allison through the countryside, heading for their new home. "Well, Allison, what do you think so far?"

The Winiks drove Allison through the countryside, heading for their new home. "Well, Allison, what do you think so far?"

Kristi Taylor and her twin brother Billy stepped into the terminal and looked around to see if they could spot their host family.
"I don't see them," said Billy "maybe you scared them off." Billy snickered, feeling he'd just won a point in the long-standing battle between the two of them.
"Bite me." said Kristi "hey that might be tem there. They seem to be looking in our direction."

LaVerne DuBois waited while the Daanan students retrieved their luggage.
"I'm sure arrangements have been made, or can be." Said LaVerne. She sincerely hoped that was true. "would you all follow me? We have some shuttle busses to take you to the university. I'm sure you'll all enjoy your time here." she smiled at the exchange students.

"I like it very much." said Allison "your country is lovely. The landscape is breathtaking. I'm sure I'll enjoy my time here. Do you know what the other students and I will be doing first?"

The Caseys were waiting for Kristi and Billy with a large sign. Mr. Casey was a rotund, working class man and Mrs. Casey was a stout, matronly woman.

Aiwyn smiled radiantly. "That sounds just lovely."

Fred Winik nodded. "Going home and settling in. You'll be living just like regular Danaan students for the next nine months."

LaVerne and the Daanan students arrived at Maineiacs University. She led them to Smithson hall, right next to the student union. Right next, also, to the Massacre Memorial.
"This," she said "is a monument to an incident from our revolution 30 years ago. Before that time, Maineiacs had been under the occupation of a country called Wottsamattayou. I know this sounds odd, but the revolt began with a demonstration at a rock concert. Demonstrations against the occupation grew, and one, at this university, resulted in the deaths of four students. You'll learn more about all this in history class."
At this point, a man dressed in t-shirt and jeans and wearing his hair in a pony tail, walked up to them.
"Hello. I'm Steve Franklin, Dean of Students here at Maineiacs U. We've been expecting you. Your rooms are ready for you, and then tomorrow, you'll meet our President, and your host families." "yes," he said in answer to Sanyk's concerns, "we knew you were coming and arrangements have been made."
LaVerne made a mental note to strangle Anderson McDermott. Apparently, she was the only one not in the know.

"Hello," said Kristi "I'm Kristi Taylor, and this is my brother Billy. Thank you for receiving us into your home."
"Can we get something to eat?" asked Billy.
Kristi kicked her brother in the shin. "Please forgive him. He sometimes forgets his manners."

"That sounds wonderful. It's just exactly like I was hoping." said Allison. She hoped they couldn't sense how incredibly nervous she was.
