5th-Placed Vics Go To Champions League?
Liga Starblaydia provides much craziness, Garry not complaining

'Tis a funny thing, Liga Starblaydia. The Season 3 final table comes out, and your team finishes fifth. "Starblaydia's League gets 5 entries into Nationstate competitions" they tell us. Fantastic, you say, a place in the Qualifying Round of the NSFA Cup, sweet!

Vics on the road to Bedistan, and all that. Well no, hold on, not quite. For some reason they've ended up on the road to Southampton, Chicanada, and the Champions' League Final. Which is a little odd, you might think, for a team who finished ninteen points and four places below a hugley dominant Montepool Waves side led by the World Cup Hall-of-Famer Nick Matranga.

Now, here's the science, so pay attention. With both Starblaydia and Nova Britannicus competing for the much-vaunted Liga Starblaydia title, Nova Britannicus still get to send their teams to the Champions' League. So Montepool, Tuncastle and Widdrington pack their bags for Chicanda. Which leaves the Daii, Tabeck and - oh look - the Vics as Starblaydia's entries to the Champs' League.

"I think its pretty wonderful," said Starblaydi Left-Back Legend and Vics player-turned Manager Ryan Garry, "we are the third-best Starblaydi team, after all. We just happen to be fifth-highest in Liga Starblaydia."

Just think, if it wasn't for international solidarity, the Vics would be playing Honsfield Athletic, or some such unknown team. What is clear, however, is that Victory Park will soon be hosting an Oglethorpian team with silly name.

FC Albertine awaits first international opponent

“Hope they can find the stadium,” club chairman says.

The Spruitland First Division champions are getting ready for NS Champions League 7, which will be their first international tournament. The team’s off-season training schedule has been adapted to get in form a few weeks early, and work crews are pulling double shifts in an attempt to finish the improvements to the stadium.

FC Albertine’s opponent in the First Qualifying Round will be Vogsphere United, from Squornshelous. This is a tough draw for the Spruitlanders, since the Squornshelian League and Cup winners are ranked highly enough to be entitled to a direct spot in the group stage, but sloppy administration saw them bumped back to the early qualifying stages.

Their first international appearance may therefore turn out to be a humbling experience for FC Albertine, despite convincingly winning last season’s championship title and the Spruit Cup. The team’s supporters and the nation’s sports experts agree the chance to advance to the next round is slim, though some of the more optimistic fans think the Squornshelous team might not show up on Wednesday.

“We’re listed as FC Albertine from ‘Spuritland’,” a grinning fan says. “Those Vogsphere fellers are gonna be havin’ a hard time trying to figure out where in the world ‘Spur-it-land’ is. Meantime, we’ll be here cheering for getting a 5-0 walkover score. And then hopefully we can hold on to that lead for the away match.”

FC Albertine

Stadium:
Industrial Arena, Albertine - capacity 25,500 (12,000 seated)

Brief history:
FC Albertine is one of the four original teams of the Spruitland First Division and they won the title in this first season. An abysmal performance in Season 2 saw the early dismissal of their coach, and his replacement, Starblaydi legend Fabricio de Souza Lima, turned the team around for Season 3, winning both the First Division championship and the Spruit Cup in its first incarnation.

Coach: Fabricio de Souza Lima (Starblaydia)

Line-up:
1. Johan Verbeek (GK)
2. Izzy Donck (DR)
3. Martin Vos (DL)
4. Steven Muster (DC)
5. Jakke Budts (DC)
6. Freddy De Beer (DM C)
7. Ito Yun Sang (AM/F R)
8. Louis De Witte (ST)
9. Dirk Jools (ST)
10. Eduard Haacht (AM C)
11. Curt Van Daele (AM L)

14. Eddie Engels (MRC)

Current internationals:
Dirk Jools is Spruitland’s star striker at the currently-in-progress Baptism of Fire, and Spruitland’s top-scorer with 3 goals in 3 caps (and 6 goals in 9 U-21 caps). Johan Verbeek is part of the BoF-squad as well, as back-up goalie. Both players may miss FC Albertine’s home match, depending on Spruitland’s performance in the BoF.

Young regular substitute Eddie Engels has been a substitute at the previous two Under-21 World Cups, totaling 2 appearances. If Dirk Jools is not back from the BoF before the home match, Engels will likely start on the right wing, with Ito Yun Sang filling in as a striker.

Hypocrian Champions Field Reserve Side?

With the NS Champions League 1st Qualifying Round on the horizon Hypocrium City coach Zvonimir Roeder is faced with a severe selection problem. Six of his first choice starting eleven are on Baptism of Fire duty with the national side and a seventh, new signing Francesco Kmatz, is also at the BoF with Vtorbetin.

Should Hypocria win their crunch match against The Wabbits of Spruitland and Vtorbetin win their semi final Roeder will be without all seven players for the home leg against Nedalian champions Shoreland United.

If that happens Roeder will be left without his goalkeeper, four of his preferred back five and both his strikers. The coach can perhaps be forgiven for being the only Hypocrian alive hoping the national side slips up against Spruitland. Then again, with huge bragging rights at stake, perhaps not.

Are you Pedrians in Disguise?
Henry and Karl's Red-Blue Army Face all-AO tie

No they really are Pedrians, all the way from the southern portion of the Calanian continent in Atlantian Oceania. Pedriana have a somewhat short history on the international stage, though they aren't too shabby in the AOCAF. Uaneres Atai appear to be the best team from Pedriana, we think, despite playing in the lowest of the low divisions in the Bedistani Football League. But, of course, once you get out of the Premier League, who cares?

With a very exciting and experienced (and difficult to pronounce) front-three, Rovers are pretty good going forward. The only problem comes, of course, when they are forced to defend, and ageing Hnery-Tuck-a-like Henry Tuckworth and the relatively aging defence are forced to run about a bit. Despite that, the ageing Owens and Del Blanco (have you spotted a theme yet?) stil have hatfuls of goals in them and Vanataraselidene (oh, the wonders of copy'n'paste) looks pretty a decent acquisition too.

Iron-Karelans United
Wolves look for Progress in Cup

A team that made it into the latter stages of the Defenders' Cup, Widdrington have taken their innate defensiveness and have attempted to bolster their tactical play to 'like wot the Rejistanis do'. Whether this will have any bearing in the Champions' League is debateable, however. The results of their play should be more-obvious in Liga Starblaydia Season 4, however, which will run at the same time as the Champions League and NSFA Cups, just for continuity's sake.

The Wolves will be facing a poncey team from The Eagles Nest, if their name is anything to go buy. Silverymoon? Sound like a bunch of pansies to us, not like the men of iron from Widdrington and the Ironclad stadium. Quite whether Rejistani striker Syku Isita has got into the tough swing of things has yet to be determined, though he lit up the Defenders' Cup (not a difficult thing to do, really) with his goals for the Wolves.

Nedalia Premier League champions Shoreland United will be representing their country in the first entry of any club from Nedalia to the NSCL. Their opponents, adequately enough, will be Hypocrian club Hypocrium City, which should prove for a very intense match. The footballing rivalry between these two brotherly countries reached its climax in the U21 World Cup, which the Lions went on to win, and should spill over to the match between the two clubs.

“Obviously we’re very excited about the prospect of participating in the CL, its another step forward for football in our emerging county. We will be representing the entire country, and we don’t plan to disappoint. Our squad is solid at every position, and our training has been going fabulous. Tell the Hippos we’re ready for ‘em!” commented Shoreland United manager Sixlen Frank.

Indeed, with Nene and Yamtech, both Nedalian national squad stars, this team seems capable of accomplishing anything it sets out to do.

Champions' League To Kick Off In A Week
R'dhuz'lith Mentioned Among Favourites

In the massive 72-team Champions' League that's just started, it's hard to pick any clear-cut favourites, but the C-mail will attempt to pick ten clubs that could quite potentially end up winning the cup. Of course, no one could have predicted the fabulous run of the Jurai'alheim Clans in the last Champions' League, but that doesn't deter us from trying.

Alexandria Porcupines, Bedistan
Key Player: Tom Pratt - goalkeeper - Bedistan

This is the first time they've won the Bedistani Premier League. Their squad is, as yet, unknown, and we don't know how they managed to pip Rolestu, Floral and Dennis Bears to the title, but that they did, which shows that the team must have some quality. They drew 12 of 38 matches, suggesting an ability to come back and draw matches 1-1.

Angel Core Sentinels, Gaian Ascendancy
Key Player: Dannar Tenkawa - attacker - Gaian Ascendancy

Holders of the NSFA Cup, Angel Core beat Harewood FC among others and eventually swamped Backstaffen United 4-0 in the NSFA final. Admittedly, they've been arbitarily placed here at the highest level, the Gaian Ascendancy Empire being too large to host a successful football league, but with a record of eight wins, four draws and a loss in the last international competition, they should be feared.

Arcticala Inlet FC, Vilita
Key Player: Rhianna Peters - attacker - Cockbill Street

Led by Vilitan Striker of the Year Rhianna Peters, who scored 16 goals in total in the Vilitan Leagues, and supported by fellow Streetian O'Neill Nerderburgh, Starblaydi Syku Lyku-Agbayani, and ancient Vilitan Callum Banda, the Inlet is a team who is rightly one to be one of the favourites. Despite the Inlet finishing third in the Stellar Division, they got the place in the group stage because Cednia Beach AFC are from Turori and Yeaddin Owls are the defending champions. That's how strong the Vilitan leagues are - five teams came within four points of Cednia Beach, so all the teams should really be mentioned here.

Druid Tribune, Druida
Key Player: Trevor Montenegro - attacker - Druida

OK, we're just tipping them to make absolutely sure that they don't win - after all, Druidans never win anything. So just to make sure that they don't, we mention them here, and jinx 'em good. Once their attacking pair of Trevors (Montenegro and Defnyddiwch - no, we dunno how it's pronounced, either) get the ball, however, they're a fearsome strike force, so hopefully they'll get stuck on the 10-man back line of the lines and we can concentrate on beating other teams.

Karela lines, Rejistania
Key Player: Syku/Lyku/Kansu Syku/Lyku/Kansu - defender - Rejistania

Yes, admittedly they're prime candidates to go 0-6-0 in the group stage, but the lines (pronounced lee-nes) are no longer a joke. Their style of football is universally accepted throughout the defensopodosferocracy of Rejistania, and with their eleven players hanging in the crossbar waiting to stop shots, it should be interesting matches. Nevertheless, a couple of lucky wins with goals from corners (punting the ball up and hoping it bounces off an opponent) could send them into the second round, and rumours are they've trained specifically for penalty shoot-out.

Iskara Daii, Starblaydia
Key Player: Darius Belizaire - attacker - Starblaydia

Yes, I know what you're thinking. If they got beaten by a Nova Britannican team, how can they be good? And why isn't the Nova Britannican side in? The reason we give is that Marcus Astin is gone from the Waves, and as we've all seen, Astin seems to be a very creative and useful player. The only famous player the Waves have left is Nick Matranga - while the Daii have both Carmine Mbidzo and Darius Belizaire, together with a Bedistani left back. Useful.

R'dhuz'lith K'druz'ba, Cockbill Street
Key Player: Kelse Howe - goalkeeper - Gaian Ascendancy

Yes, we're fully aware that naming a team whose only class player is in goal is a major gamble. However, R'dhuz'lith won the Compound League last season, with 52 points, they're widely recognised as the best team in the Street, and Donald Ure and Mark Cooper up front aren't too far away from the national team, either. Plus 41-year-old player/coach Olaf Heimfoething still has a few tricks up his sleeve, keeping himself fit in case a desperate situation occurs.

Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade, Tadjikistan
Key Player: Ter Gasparian - forward - Tadjikistan

Who?! And how do you pronounce it? Yet, Tursunzade have been given a free spot into the group stages, and that must count for something these days. Their players are an ageing lot, but their entertaining style of football and their positive outlook make them one of the surprise candidates. We wouldn't want to come across these guys.

Woodstock Wild, Sarzonia
Key Player: Bobby Convey - midfielder - Sarzonia

The only club in the Champions' League from the World Cup winning team, Woodstock reached the second round of the last instalment before running into the Blue Diamond Destroyers. They're certainly among the favourites, but doubts may be raised over their stamina, along with the fact that four players are in the national team that must go through tiresome qualifying rounds for the World Cup.

Yeaddin Owls AFC, Vilita
Key Player: Antonis Siazzu - attacker - Vilita

Yeaddin Owls were dominant in what is arguably the strongest domestic league in the world, winning by ten points ahead of the Inland Peaks. Admittedly, the 17th season isn't completed yet, but Yeaddin is expected to take another title - and could very well add to their two successive Champions' League titles. Their side is solid from the bench, with manager Kenter Surf, to the top duo of Siazzu and Bedistani Alejandro Ventrease.

ANWIR CYMRU ANGERED
Rovers not best pleased with host (alleged) mockery.

Anwir Cymru's finest Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers have been outraged after being called L111111111cw11111111 Rovers by Champions League officials from Chicanada. Locals in the North Western region of Druida have taken it as an insult to their language of Mock Welsh.

"Our language is officially recognised by the International Board of Languages!" said one irate fan. When it was pointed out that, actually, no such institution existed, he replied, "Well, it has its own wiki page, so it must be true. One thing's for sure, we're not just a bunch of 1337ers looking for publicity. Our club, our city, our area - they all have traditions."

In the draw for the first qualifying round of the Champions League, Rovers are up against Graviton FC of Nonesuch Street. Druidan international midfielder Gareth Yr Dinistrydd says he's never heard of them, and Rovers should turn them over easily.

"I mean, who are they?" he asked us, "I thought Nonesuch Street wasn't actually a real place. I mean, that's what the name suggests."

"Anyway, we're angry enough that the DFA messed up and only got us into the first qualifying round, not the second. We're desperate, if only to make it to our rightful place."

Rovers' likely line-up against Graviton is as follows:

Manager: Trevor Colddllta (Druida)

1) Freddie Jones (GK, Druida)
2) Trevor Llanfridd (LB, Druida)
3) Trevor Williams (RB, Druida)

Hypocrian Champions Will Field Reserve Side

It seems that the Hypocrian FA have been struck down by the same madness that has been effecting football associations around the world as it has become apparent that they have not been checking their Baptism of Fire schedules properly.

After assuring the Hypocrium City coach that his players, currently on international duty in Fmjphoenix, would be available for the first leg of the club’s Champions League qualifying match should Hypocria lose to Spruitland in the BoF semi final. Sure enough Hypocria were beaten by Spruitland on penalties but did the players return? No they did not as the FA had completely forgotten about the third place playoff game which will clash with the Champions League tie.

Now coach Roeder, without seven first team players, will definitely have to cobble together a side from a handful of first team players, reserves and youth team players to face the Nedalian champions Shoreland United in Hypocrium. The coach had this to say,

“We’re going to have a very young side out there but their all relishing the opportunity. I’m still confident we can give Shoreland a game and if the crowd gets behind us, who knows?”

And the crowd should really be behind them as, despite the selection problems, the match is proving to be the hottest ticket in town with a full house looking a real possibility. After an epic quarter final at the last U21 tournament the fans are looking forward to seeing players from Hypocria and Nedalia lock horns again, and with a bit of luck there will be a different outcome this time around. With large numbers of Shoreland fans expected to make the short trip to Hypocrium as well there should be a real carnival atmosphere inside the stadium. And the home fans will be needed to help inspire a young and inexperienced Hypocrium City side to victory.

Uäneres to Kick Off Campaign Against Other AOers
Diaereses and all

ATAÏ -- Uäneres Ataï (formerly known as the Athtai Wanderers, back when Pedriana spoke English) will be facing off against Nova Britannicus' Tuncastle Rovers in the first qualifying round of the NS Champions League. Most pundits say this is really no contest, given that Rovers finished fourth in Liga Starblaydia this past season while Uäneres merely won the Bedistan Football Conference North (the sixth level of the newly-integrated Bedistani-Pedrian league system). Nevertheless, Uäneres management say they will do "their absolute best" to make a good showing.

Everybody Knows, No-One Likes MOLELAND!
(Sung to the tune of 'Bodger And Badger')

The Moleland-hosted Champions League 6 wasn't exactly the smoothest ride in the world, which has led to their mutual hatred across the globe by veterans such as Vilita and Liverpool England. The Lofthu Negalia team, who recently finished fourth in the Takil Cup, will hope to do everybody a favour by knocking out Mole City early on in the competition - in other words, right now. The team's seven-prong attack has caused a number of highly successful teams a highly painful headache, most notably Liverpool England's IDEXO...twice.

Despite the sudden rush for cheap Vtorbetin players, the Lofthu team remains remarkably untouched, and boasts the same line-up as in the Takil Cup:

Temple of Karela sues North Pole United

The temple of Karela and the soccer club I Jesejil Omeh in Hetkali reacted disturbed by the fact that someone patented a soccer formation but decided that this is an attack and it has to be countered adequately. Takil Nixtak of I Jesejil Omeh said to reporters: "That [is an] insolence! We play 7-2-1 longer than they EXIST!" Priest Kasura added: "Is' a cultural technique! No one should patent reading, writing or playing soccer defensively! This patent is pointless and due to the fact that the 7-2-1 is trivial and not newly invented, we will sue the club so this patent can be rendered null and void!"

It is purely coincidental that suddenly amateur clubs from the lower divisasi patented different offensive formations.

Bribery Anyone?

Due to the upsoming sue from the Temple of Karela, where Hockey Canadian soccer originated, North Pole United is offering the Temple an eternity supply of Hockey Canada's favourite beer "Molson Hockey Canadian". They withdraw the patent seeing the effect that it is having on soccer in Rejistania's minor Leagues. With all the patents coming, Hockey Canadians will patent the first team with 8 goalies, and a forward, midfielder, and defender. But due to a little thing called "rules", this was quickly a drawback.

In important news, Rearward FC from Caprine States will face North Pole United in the opening round of the 1st leg of NSCL action. Missing 14 year-old keeper Kyle Thomas who is off to Cefn Albion, Damien Marx of Yakutsk will be between the sticks for North Pole. Paul Rowntree who plays for Beer-League winning Irkutsk (Rowntree happens to be leading scoring this year and is on pace to get 50 goals in 30 games), has been added to the roster and poses a major threat to all teams.

Yanic Perrault, who will be back for his last U21 campaign coming up will be a force to be reckoned with on defence, trailing Rowntree in the scoring with 36 goals in 25 games. Rahul Kulkarni will have the nod to play. Switching sub duties with Mike Ko, both players will be gearing up for their next U21 tourney when they go for their second-last shot at the cup. But the NSCL will be the only championship the boys are focused on for now.

The game quickly approaching will feature many celebrities attending. Former Prime Minister/Dictator Jean Pouresse will appear for the first time since his exile when he was forced to retire for having an affair with a donkey. Current Prime Minister/Dictator Ondrea Di Lorenzi will be attending along with her campaign manager for the NSIOC, Jean Poutine.

Rearward FC is expected to prove a very good challenge for North Pole United. But having no roster may not set them back too far, because a team usually mysteriously shows up in the nick of time. Hockey Canadian scouts have no knowledge of Caprine States in any sport or internationally. Hockey Canadians will be forced to watch and stand helplessly as they either see North Pole United triumph in the 1st leg, or fail miserably forcing them to return in the 2nd leg with a win.

Much expected, an interview with Coach Toe Blake, who is preparing for the U21 World Cup was given.

"Coach Blake, how do you plan to lead North Pole United to victory in this debut for North Pole United?"

"Well Miss-"

"It's Mrs."

"Well Mrs. Lowenstein"

"It's Wiig."

"Well Wiig, we've been preparing hard for this and are just hoping for the best. Missing a few good players but we expect them to be back by the 2nd leg."

"2 words are surrounding everyone's minds so far Coach: Paul Rowntree. What do you think by these rumours going around that he'll do even better in the Champions League?"

"Well it's a team game Wiig. We have many good players such as Perrault, Ko, Kulkarni and Marx. I think Rowntree wil excel above some players this year, but there is competition for captaincy between him and Yanic (Perrault)."

"One last thing, Damien Marx will be in net for you this league. Do you feel like Kyle Thomas is in a better place or not?"

"He's dead? I thought he just went to Druida to play for Cefn Albion."

"That's what I meant."

"Sorry. I think he'll miss Hockey Canada, but we'll always have hin for us internationally."

"Thanks Coach."

"Can I ask you something quickly?"

"Yes, what is it Coach Blake?"

"Is there and ointment in here to soothe my chafing groin?"

"Signing off. SIGNING OFF!!!"

The best players from the Beer league have united under one pole (sorry, can't stop to laugh), North Pole United.

Do! Do-do... DO-DI-DI-DO!

"This is Jacques Flaubert reporting from Maviyol, just outside the Istiklal, where an internationally unknown and unheralded Rearward FC just downed Hockey Candian powerhouse North Pole United 1-0 in the first leg of Champions League play!

"With me here I have Rearward's Assistant Coach Jiminy Grasshopper. How do you feel about the victory, Jiminy?"

"Well damn... I don't know. I'm sort of surprised we even had a team out there, let alone one that won the game."

"Oh? What do you mean?"

"Well, we're missing Coach Akburun along with Eski, Michael Harrison, Johnny Martin, and Can Yildirim who are all in Vilita trying to bring home a Baptism of Fire victory. To make matters worse, the rest of our team was stranded in the resort town of Findik because of a banana accident."

"Amazing! So what did you do?"

"Well, I pretty much cruised the streets of Maviyol with a shotgun and two hundred lira hoping to find some desperate urchins. I paid the ones I found ten lira to play this game and... well hell, I've never seen anyone bite so hard..."

"They bit the Hockey Canadians?!"

"Oh no. Two of my boys were fighting each other for rights to... can I say this on TV?"

"Probably not."

"Oh... well anyway, yeah. They were vicious. Every time a Hockey Canadian defender came near, they would just bah like the good--if extremely undisciplined and dangerous--goats that they are. Really, really loud. Usually it didn't work, but that one time... well hot damn, it was a beauty of a goal."

"How did it go?"

"Well, one of the fellows tripped a Hockey Canadian defender while the ref wasn't looking, and then another one just waltzed right on by and pummeled the ball. It would have gone about ten feet wide of the post if an unfortunate Hockey Canadian defender's groin hadn't deflected the ball nicely into the net. They had so many of them, I knew it was bound to happen!"

"Wow! Well, congratulations Mr. Grasshopper, and good luck in Hockey Canada... you are going to field a team of non-urchins this time, right?"

"Yes. Yes we will. The real team has just escaped from Findik after a great deal of effort by the Findik authorities to clear the banana accident. There will be an official roster in tomorrow's paper."

"Excellent! Well, you heard it, folks! Urchins 1 - Hockey Canada 0. Now for coverage of old ladies turning 100!"

Promising start for FC Albertine

FC Albertine - Vogsphere United (Squornshelous): 1 – 0

With goalie Johan Verbeek and striker Dirk Jools still away on international duty, FC Albertine coach Fabricio de Souza Lima had to make some changes for the team’s international debut, against Squornshelian champions Vogsphere United.

Eddie Engels was expected to start on the right wing with Ito Yun Sang filling in as a forward to maintain the team’s standard 4-4-2 diamond line-up, but de Souza Lima decided to leave Yun Sang where he was and put Engels on added defensive duty in centre midfield for a 4-5-1 with Louis De Witte as the lone striker.

And this tactic paid off against the stronger Squornshelian team. FC Albertine supporters may not have been used to their team playing such defensive football, but as they saw the strengthened midfield severely limit Vogsphere’s scoring opportunities, criticism dried out quickly.

And when Vogsphere did find a hole and managed to send the ball in the direction of the goal, there was an impressive Gerwald de Wind to deal with that. The 16-year old goalkeeper, recently promoted from the youth squad, made his first ever appearance for Albertine and showed great promise for the future.

Not able to create many chances of their own, FC Albertine would gladly have settled for the 0-0, but a stroke of luck deep into the second half saw them get away with an unexpected win when Louis De Witte took advantage of a badly timed backpass.

The result keeps hope alive for FC Albertine, but it may not be enough to hold on to in the second leg, when Vogsphere will have the home crowd behind them.

Despite, or in fact because of, fielding an attacking 4-3-3 lineup, the Vics were caught out by the Oglethorpian side Megalopolis City FC. Even with Druidan Striker Trevor Bent, the man who scored last seasons' Liga Starblaydia Goal of the Season (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Liga_Starblaydia_Players_of_the_Year#Goal_of_the_Season), Vecchio just couldn't level the match against their opponents against a rather loud Megalopolis crowd. John Peter however, from Nova Britannicus, did manage to break the 2-0 monotony and gave Starblaydia a good chance in the return leg.

"I'd have taken 2-1 at the beginning of this match," said Vics' Manager Ryan Garry, "we'll take them back to the Park and see what's what. I don't want to be out at this round, no sir."

Victory Park, however, is known for the sheer atmosphere that its capacity crowd of 48,000 can generate, and it isn't called Victory Park for nothing...

Shoreland All Washed Up

Hypocrium City 2 – 0 Shoreland United
Eagles 18
Veron 70

Despite all the selection problems faced by the reigning champions of Hypocria they produced a magnificent display, in front of over 60,000 fans, to beat Shoreland United of Nedalia.

City coach Zvonimir Roeder, without his international stars, played a young and inexperienced side against Nedalia’s finest and was rewarded with a performance so good some of those missing internationals may struggle to get their places back.

It was Horacio Veron, one of the few first team players the coach could call on, who was the architect of the victory. He played a starring role despite playing out of position on the left of midfield in an unfamiliar 4-4-2 system.

It was from Veron's left wing cross in the first half that 18 year old debutant, James Eagles, opened the scoring for Hypocrium City. Veron skipped past his marked and delivered a cross which Eagles managed to glance in.

The second goal came twenty minutes from full time and, fittingly enough, it was Veron who scored it. The makeshift winger picked the ball up on the edge of the box, after an Eagles snapshot had been blocked, and drilled it low and hard across the keeper and into the back of the net.

Shoreland will be disappointed with their performance as, despite plenty of possession, they only managed a handful of shots at goal. They came closest to pulling one back late on in the game. Nene, whose unusually quiet performance may be explained by the current transfer speculation surrounding him, suddenly burst into life. The hugely talented Nedalian international drove down the flank and squared the ball for Yamtech but young keeper Baines made a spectacular reflex save.

After the match coach Roeder was understandably delighted,

“Considering the circumstances this result is magnificent. The crowd really got behind us and I think that played a big part. With have a very tough trip to Kafra ahead of us but with a two goal lead and a full strength squad we have a great chance of progressing.”

Lofthu Step Closer To CL Group Stage

Vtorbetin's Lofthu Negalia made a promising start to their Champions' League campaign, managing to hold Moleland's Mole City to a 0-0 draw in Lofthu. In a game of relatively few chances, there was little to tell between the two teams, but the home team will definitely be happier with the draw in terms of the chance to qualify for the group stage, as coach Joshua Hickson explains.

"Obviously the second leg will be in Moleland, and if we can score first, that puts immense pressure on Mole City to score twice, due to the away goal rule. I think that if we score first, and I have to say there's a good chance of that, we'll be able to dictate the style of play, and hopefully go on to win the tie."

Most nations are looking to Vtorbetin to knock Moleland's sole representative out of the competiton early, due to their poor organisation of the previous Champions' League. This scoreline will be a familiar sight to a lot of teams involved in that tournament, but on this occasion it will be welcome, and an encouraging sign that Lofthu could do the business in Moleland. Let's face it: who's more likely to put up more of a challenge in the competition? Think about it for a while.

War of the Rovers

Gabalfa Rovers have been handed a tough task in the Champions League, where they have been drawn to face Druidan outfit Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers in the 2nd Qualifying Round.

Manager Akram At-Tariq, brother of national team boss Munir, commented "I must say, I was hoping we'd get an AO team, and we got that wish. Shame it wasn't someone a bit easier to pronounce, but thems the breaks as they say. Not that I'm saying I can't pronounce it - I think I'll just refer to them as t'other Rovers."

"Obviously the main threat from t'other Rovers will come from the two Joneses up front - they both got 18 goals this season so they can do a job at this level, thats for sure."

The Flames travel to Llllllllllcwllllllll on Friday, before hosting the Druidans at The Gasworks this weekend.

Vaksh Qorgontheppa, the team from Qorgontheppa -Or Kurgan Tyube on some maps- near the Vaksh river will meet Mackintosh Thistle Celtic, a team that they have not played against before and barely know. They are from The Weegies and thats all the info we have on them. So we'll inform you on the Qorgontheppian team.
Vaksh Has no less then five internationals in its team: Khudyakov, Karmanov, Galitski, Gorodnianskij and Zarakovsky and with that it is the second most important suplier of players for the national team. Zarakovsky is already thirtyfive and selected for the WC23 national team, it will be his last selection but he will be succeeded by some young players like Salenko, Rostovoi, Samsonov or Rennenkampf, All from Qorgontheppa's youth team and talented enough to make a beautiful carreer in the Tadjik Premier League.
Qorgontheppa's most promissing talent however is Ivan Radchenko, only 17 and already in Sharipovs A-team.
Vaksh Qorgontheppa wants to write some history and their well-balanced team is ready for it.

North Fence Pushing draw Streetian side Rizh'peith K'druzba
First leg away in Cockbill Street

North Fence Pushing are in continental competition for the first time, representing Liverpool England despite originally being based in Kingsford. Should Pushing, who finished second runners-up in the Liverpool England league for season 22F/23Q, lose away in Cockbill Street to Rizh'peith K'druzba, a home win would be vital.

However, with their home ground based on Lox Land Island to the east of the nation's mainland, Pushing do not have many local fans. Since Liverpool England travel laws only allow professional athletes and Government workers (including ministers and civil servants), and sports fans on official league matchdays, to travel to Lox Land Island, the Pushing will not have a lot of home support, if any at all. The Pushing are the first team in Liverpool England to have females in the team.

City Scrape Through

Hypocrium City 2 – 3 Shoreland United (agg. 4 – 3)
Orr 18
Veron 82

Despite another administrative error, that meant the champion’s international players were still in Fmjphoenix, Hypocrium City managed to edge past Nedalia’s Shoreland and secure a place in the second qualifying round. Consequently city coach Zvonimir Roeder kept faith with the same eleven that did so well in the home leg.

The home team started the stronger but it was the side from Hypocrium that took a surprise lead in Kafra thanks to a deflected 25 yard effort from right back Craig Orr.

This merely served to annoy the Nedalian champions who equalised in the first half through Yamtech. It was all Shoreland after the restart with Yamtech adding his and Shoreland’s second ten minutes into the second half from Nene’s cross. It was Nene who put the home side 3 – 1 up with fifteen minutes left, skipping past two challenges before firing past Baines.

They may have been comfortably in the lead on the night but Shoreland were still going out on the away goal rule. The home side surged forward but were caught at on the break. Baric played a long ball forward to Dargo on the right flank, the younger winger sent a cross field pass to release Veron. The midfielder skinned Alexander and drilled a shot across Murkadi and into the net, it was almost a carbon copy of his goal in the first leg.

There was no coming back for Shoreland and when the final whistle blew Hypocrium City, despite losing on the night, were through to the next round.

In the second qualifying round Hypocrium City have been drawn against a club from Vilita, we are just unsure as to which club from Vilita. Although any representative from the Stellar Division will prove a huge obstacle to the Hypocrian champions qualification hopes.

Rizh'peith K'druz'ba Need Big Win
Martínez Still Believes

Zack Martínez admitted that playing North Fence Pushing from Liverpool England wasn't exactly the dream of a draw, with the runners up from Liverpool England probably putting up a serious threat. They're a club that originally came from Kingsford, and they've still got six coal-carriers in their line-up - however, what's even more amusing is that they have nine females in their 20-human squad - that's almost more than Rizh'peith have dwarves.

The dwarf team will have an obvious advantage in header duels, and will try to play their opponents out along the ground - one reason why they can't use System Karela, as long passes won't work very well. However, one worry will be in the ageing back line, which is losing pace - Bergowner and Bearslayer are both well past 30, and considering that the opposition are young lads (and lasses), with Mike Kerns being the oldest at 29, they would probably be at their height physically. Hopefully, though, the dwarves will hold possession for most of the game, as they have a speed advantage, and Cawdron, Martínez and Nicholson will be key players.

In other news, Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers beat Graviton FC of Nonesuch Street to send the second batch of Streeters into the NSFA Cup. A 1-0 lead from the first match was never enough.

FC Albertine survives

Vogsphere United (Squornshelous) - FC Albertine: 2 – 2 (2 – 3 agg.)

Spruitland champions FC Albertine are one step closer to the group stage of the Champions League, despite a tough First Qualifying Round. A fine 1-0 home result had laid the groundwork, and an early goal in the second leg put the pressure on Vogsphere, who now had to score three times to advance.

The Squornshelian champions tried and came close, increasing the pressure and scoring twice, but with time running out they took more and more risks and ran into a last-minute counter attack, settling the matter completely.

FC Albertine thereby does the unexpected and moves on to the Second Qualifying Round. The odds of reaching the group stage are still against them, though their next opponent, Liamist States’ Canterbury, does not seem like an impossible hurdle to take.

Coach Fabricio de Souza Lima’s comment on the Liamist press statements was brief. “FC Albertine not impressed,” he said. “Marmaduke fur would make nice rug.”

Vilitan Teams selected for International Competition

--------------------As the rest of the teams had already arrived, the naturally extended Vilitan Season was just coming to a close It was a grueling battle right down to the very last day of competition, and in the end resulted in the closest final table in the 17 season history of the Vilitan League. For a full recap of the League, Cups and Statistics, the Vilitan FA has published the 17th Vilitan League Report (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9086321&postcount=886) for public viewing. The defending Vilitan and Champions League champions, the Yeaddin Owls, led most of the season and still out performed all but one to take their place as the highest ranking Vilitan club in the system for Season 17. With these honors, the Owls will take their place in the NSCL Group Stage with 50% of the Vilitan pot. They will be joined in the Group Stage, not only by the Turorian Champions Cednia Beach AFC, but also by the team the pipped out in the Vilitan Cup final, Arcticala Inlet. The two Vilitan Clubs have rose to a level above their fellow Vilitans and Inlet will take 25% of the Vilitan pot with them into the Group Stage.

--------------------Strike FC hung in the battle all season long, and came home fourth, just edging out Inland Peaks by a single goal differential marker. Strike will get 15% of the pot starting out the the Third Qualifying Stage, while the Peaks will have to start from the Second Qualifying Stage, and take 5% of the pot. Dissapointingly, a slowly slipping Marine Coast United were relegated to the NSFA cup by finishing 6th in the table, 4 points behind Strike and Inland Peaks. Marine Coast United will get 5% of the pot, while Turoki Isle, making their first ever appearance in an International Club competition, will not get any of the pot, and will be playing for pride from the NSFA Cup's Second Qualifying Stage.

The Mackintosh Times
Thistle Celtic Face Tadjiki Side

With the draw put out, it is known that Weegie Premiership Champions Mackintosh Thistle Celtic have been drawn against Tadjikistan side Vaksh Qorgontheppa. With five Tadjiki internationals (national side ranked 25th) in the squad, the side looks as if it will be a tough squad to beat, especially since all of those internationals are up to full strength.

In the Dear Green Place in Mackintosh, as well, things are not so rosy, waiting for the team from Qorgontheppa to come to the stadium. With four of the regular side out, including stalwart full-back Robert Wallace who is still recovering from a shin injury sustained from the 3-1 victory against Trams Union United, it is a strange mix that goes out to the Weegie stadium, containing favoured internationals like Alan Johnstone and young players struggling to break through to the main squad, like reserve striker Iain Ferdinand.

Even with the home advantage in this first leg, it is going to be hard for the champions to progress forward to the Third Qualifying Stage against what is a tough opponent.

Probable side facing Vaksh Qorgontheppa:

OOC: It is Hetlasane Hetkali

Hetlasane conceded twice

The begin of the Champions League for the Team from Hetkali was anything but good. Hetlasane's defense made horrible mistakes and due to that the Team lost 0:2 away against Lylia Foresters from the Weegies. Coach Simnidi "Simdi" Disy was very displeased with the match. It is said that he will torture the team with SLAGLandish music due to the disgrace of conceding twice and not scoring - against an opponent unknown on the international scene. This might sound cruel, but it is said that this is the secret of the success of Hetlasane.

Second clean sheet for young goalie

FC Albertine – Canterbury (Liamist States): 0 – 0

Young Gerwald de Wind, barely 16 years old, is staking his claim for a regular spot in goal with another outstanding performance in the Champions League match against Liamist States’ Canterbury. De Wind had to bend, stretch, punch and dive but managed to hang on to the nil, which leaves the Spruitland champions with a real chance to advance to the next round.

“It would’ve been nice if we could have cashed in on one of the few chances we had,” coach Fabricio de Souza Lima says, “but they didn’t score, and that’s a big plus. It won’t be easy in Canterbury, but we’ll have a few internationals returning by then, so maybe that’ll make the difference.”

Striker Dirk Jools and goalkeeper Johan Verbeek are returning home from a successful Baptism of Fire campaign, but some supporters are appealing to keep in-form Gerwald de Wind in goal for the time being.

“When you’re 16 and sign for the defending champs, you know you’re gonna be on the bench for a while,” young de Wind says. “It’s been great getting the chance to play a few games, but I have no problem stepping back down once Johan returns.”

FC Albertine will need at least a scoring draw to advance to the Third Qualifying round, and they’ll be eager to do so, because a loss would send them to the NSFA Qualifying round to face Bedistani team Floral FC.

“Yes, that’s a team we’d rather avoid,” de Souza Lima agrees. “We’re not a bad team, but we have to be realistic here. If we’re to get a few rounds further, we need a bit of luck in the draw. Teams from the second ranked nation in the world are somewhat out of our league, for now.”

Megalopolis City poised to face Highbrow Athletic

With a deficit against the Vanguard Eagles of Fmjphoenix, Megalopolis City F.C. seems unlikely to pull off an upset, and more ready to bow out of the NSCL to face fellow league club Highbrow Athletic in the NSFA Cup.

Said manager Harry Utterer, "we played strong those first couple of matches after taking an early lead -- but we don't have the same situation here. It seems like immaturity may again rear its ugly head."

Megalopolis City F.C. ceded victory to the Vanguard Eagles after a series of unforgivable mistakes, largely attributed to the relative youth of the whole squad.

"It's either young athletes or ancient, yet experienced players. As far as i'm concerned, this run's been a good one, given our recent football slump," commented the veteran of the squad, 39 year old Dan Michaelson.

"At least we get to face Highbrow; we never ever play them. We'll relish the opportunity, given the rarity of the match at hand; it'd be great to be in the same domestic league as that club," remarked Coat MacHanger in a fully serious and unflinching manner.

[ 95 ] Jawz Oaker [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jawz Oaker is the son of Colonial Sile and Oaker national midfielder Arthin Oaker, who moved to Vilita early in his career after his impressive performances for Oaker in past World Cups. Jawz was called up to the Vilita Under 21 squad as Oaker did not participate in the Under-21's, qualifying through his residency and his Mother, a Vilitan. The young keeper spent most of Season 15 on loan to Mavaloiao, before being recruited by Doug Freech's Lopinka side, Declasse champions looking for a starting keeper for their return campain in the Stellar Division. However, hometown Makosile's vast improvements in Season 16 saw the youngster quick to return home to bask in the spotlight with one of Vilita's rising new powers. Despite earning the Goalkeeper of the year award, Oaker's team was not able to compete and spent more time at the bottom of the table then the top, prompting the young keeper to depart once again, this time to Champions League bound inland Peaks FC.

[ 3 ] Jaloey Afrikka [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 35 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 1 REG: 1 )
Jaloey Afrikka is one of the quiet talents in the Vilita lineup. A regular in the team since graduating from the Under-21 side, Jaloey is always in the roster somewhere, either starting or on the bench, when the Vilitan teamsheet is announced. With the retirement of Vilitan defensive legends Giacomo Adika and Enzo Ahat, Afrikka finds himself as first-choice Central Defender for the World Cup 19 Finals. Afrikka will have added confidence after returning home to Jlinal Cove FC, the club where he got his start, after a stint in the Stellar Division with Turoki Isle and Strike FC. The well travelled Afrikka isone of few players known to have featured for the Vilitan Trio, after signing with Yeaddin Owls, Afrikka featured for Strike FC and Marine Coast United in addition to a host of other teams throughout his career. Afrikka has announced his retirement following World Cup 22.

Mitaroka's Performances for Yeaddin in Season One earned him Youth Player of the Year Honors along with Yeaddin's Stellar Division Championship in the Inagural Vilitan season. Mitaroka never developed into the powerhouse force that was expected from his early performances, but is expected to make a great coach one day do to his leadership both on and off the field at Yeaddin Owls AFC. Mitaroka has indicated he may retire from the International scene after the World Cup Finals in Turori, to concentrate on coaching and regional competitions. After a long and successful career at Yeaddin Owls AFC, Mitaroka moved to Inland Peaks in Season 17 to take on a role as Player/Manager

Riccardo Appolloni came through the youth ranks at Mavaloio before transferring to Yeaddin Owls AFC and quickly displacing Jan Christiansen from his role as first choice striker. Appolloni also one-upped Christiansen by earning a regular role in the Vilitan National team, something Christiansen was never able to do. The third largest transfer in Vilitan History at the time saw Appolloni depart his beloved Owls for up-and-coming Inland Peaks FC. The Peaks used the transfer income from the sale of Ade Hinds, Martin Watt, Aman Dedur and mostly Under-21 forward Kris Wrice to sign the Vilitan International, signalling their intentions to be respected as a top class team in Vilita for seasons to come.

---------------------Inland Peaks FC were one of the founding members of the Vilitan Stellar Division, representing the central Morata Valley region in the newly created top tier of the Vilitan League system. However, Inland Peaks would also be one of the first two teams relegated from the Stellar Division, and after winning just 8 games in the first three seasons of play in the Stellar and Declasse divisions, Inland Peaks found themselves out of the League System altogether. It seemed as though the club had been swept under the rug for good, when a supporters group convinced the town board to help fund a new stadium. Plans for the new stadium grew and grew, and eventually the plans for a new sports multiplex with financial backing from the national sporting commission were in the works. The fully expandable National View Stadium was constructed, and it was no surprise when Inland Peaks FC were invited back to the league in Season 10. This time, they took to the art of winning games, and were crowned champions of the Declasse at the first attempt, returning to the Stellar Division they helped create.

North Fence Escape With Draw
Rizh'peith In Danger of Missing Out

Rizh'peith K'druz'ba got the worst imaginable result out of a match they controlled when they played North Fence Pushing yesterday. The Pushing, who despite playing a 3-5-2 on paper was never that keen on moving past the centre line, but the pressure was on once Rizh'peith moved into their half. That disrupted the normally flowing passing play from Rizh'peith, and their only goal came in the first half, a cross from Alf Oakcleaver who took the free kick which landed on the head of Vegard Stronginthearm after a Pushing player had failed to clear it, and the ball sailed into the goal.

Despite Rizh'peith continually pushing forward, their opponents were dangerous on the counter-attack, and just before half-time Lawrence O'Reilly received a beautiful pass that went over all the defenders and ended up in goal behind a diving Ewood - 1-1, and it didn't look like Rizh'peith would manage to get any more chances.

They got one - with ten minutes from time - Cindy Anderton fouling Zack Martínez on the edge of the penalty box, and a penalty was dubiously given to the home side, amid massive protests from the Liverpool Englanders and even greater cheers from the home crowd, but Sarah Cawdron managed to send the penalty several miles over the bar. Thus, the match ended 1-1, a hopeless result for Rizh'peith.

Manager Pete Johnson was not pleased, saying that "we couldn't work them out today, credit to them of course, but I feel Zack and Sarah should have used their experience with these kinds of formations and played some better passes. I was also disappointed with the lack of attacking runs, we need some of those if we're going to win in North Fence."

And that they have to do - a 0-0 result will send North Fence Pushing through to the second round, while a 1-1 result will give extra time. It looks like a challenge for Rizh'peith, who only a couple of years ago were considered the best team in the Street.

Qorgontheppa leads, party!!

Qorgontheppa's veteran Zarakovsky was the star of the day, after scoring the only goal against Mackintosh Thistle Celtic in The Weegies, he was welcomed in the hotel by a hoard of fans who carried the 35 year old striker on their hands.
Qorgontheppa's first international match was a small success and a definite morale boost of Khumdin Sharipov, the Coach on whose shoulders this heavy task was laid 'Now we'll have can complete the story with a win in Qorgontheppa, with the support of these magnificent fans. There were only 300 Tadjik fans here but they counted for 10000 out there. Once we get home we'll have a party and i'll invite everyone of them and thank them personally. We couldnt have done it without their help.'
'And offcourse I hope they'll be their in the return match at home, where we'll give them a nice match with lots of excitement and hopefully a victory.'

"North Island Clan (Raptor Claw) Vs Tuncastle Rovers and Tabeck FC Vs Silverymoon Knights (The Eagles Nest) both ended in 0-0 draws, as the Liga Starblaydia heroes of last season tried to get used to the idea of playing in three competitions at once."

Having just beaten Liga rivals Widdrington Wolves in the 1st Qualifying Round, Tabeck FC hosted the Silverymoon Knights, who took the short-ish trip over from the other side of Atlantian Oceania.

"I was disappointed that we didn't get a goal or two," said Tabeck legend and current manager, J.J. Stark, "Zaragoza is having an awesome start to the season, but as a team we aren't. It should be a good match back over in The Eagles Nest, as we only need a win or a score-draw to go through. Ideally we'd have a win under our belts already, but we've denied them the away goal and we're looking to win this thing."

Britannican side Tuncastle Rovers, however, fresh off the back of their win over Uäneres Ataï of Pedriana, will host one of Raptor Claw's Island Clans before they can progress.

Karl Robertson, a rather neat striker of his day for Starblaydia, Iskara Daii and Tuncastle themselves, had this to say:

"I'd have loved to get the away goal, but Sikey and Rhys couldn't manage to put it in the back of the net between them, unfortunately. When we bring them back to the Roverdome they'll know what it's like to be under pressure."

DuPont spent 5 seasons with Arcticala Inlet and helped transform the club from a mid table side, to a 5-Time Vilitan Cup champion, continuing his prolific scoring form before returning to Strike FC in Season 12. Throughout his domestic career, DuPont has netted over 300 goals, and is believed to be the top all-time scorer in Vilita. The Flames Are Warming Up

Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers 1: Dai Jones 76'
Gabalfa Rovers 1: Ward 3'

Gabalfa Rovers are a satisfied team tonight after they came away from their Cymric opponants with a creditable draw, and a precious away goal to boot.

The Flames started quickly, and Bettian international Gethin Ward opened the scoring after just three minutes. Evan Brooks found Tariq Al-Jahani with a quickly taken free-kick just inside the Llllllllllcwllllllll half and, after jinking his way past three home defenders, poked the ball through to Ward in the area with his back to goal. A deft flick of the ball and a swift volley resulted in the ball hurtling into the top corner, giving the visitors a suprise lead.

From thereon in, the first half was largely a rearguard action for the Gabalfans as the home team, spearheaded by their two Jones up front, poured forward, gaining nine corners in the process. It was only thanks to some rotten luck in front of goal and some inspired goalkeeping by Amir Bettison that Gabalfa Rovers went into half-time one goal to the good.

The second half started just as the first did, with Gabalfa Rovers having the lion's share of the attacking play. Gethin Ward came close to putting the away side two-nil up after 54 minutes, sending a first-time shot crashing against the crossbar. Evan Brooks saw a viscious inswinging corner headed off the line, and Al-Jahani had a shot well-saved.

As the half wore on, the home team gradually applied the same pressure as they did in the first half, resulting in their equaliser 14 minutes from time. A thunderbolt of a shot was tipped around the post by Bettison, and Dai Jones popped up to nod in the corner at the near post.

And so the game finished honours even. Gabalfa Rovers head back to The Gasworks knowing a drab 0-0 draw will be enough to see them through - however, they didn't finish last season as the league's top scoers by being negative and it will be interesting to see how they approach the return leg.

Both teams head into the second leg knowing that if they lose the tie, they will be making a short trip to Pedriana to face Uäneres Ataï in the qualifying round of the NSFA Cup.

Lylia's David McInally celebrates after he scores Lylia's second goal.

The Trees, Lylia City
Lylia Foresters 2 - 0 Hetlasane Hetkali
Hedman 25
McInally 69
Lylia leads 2-0 agg.

A full-strength Lylia Foresters side in blazing form took down Rejistanian side Hetlasane Hetkali in a shock two-nil win at The Trees that was electrifying to behold, especially for Lylian fans who've had a great season, almost clinching the Premiership until pipped at the post by Thistle Celtic. Not bad for a side that only formed ten years ago.

Lylia looked shaky at the start, giving possession away to a dominant Hetlasane Hetkali side, with the Rejistanians looking close to scoring several times throughout the start of the match. However, Lylia regained the confidence that has been the hallmark of their stylish attacking football, and began to press hard against the Rejistanian side. Golden boy David Hedman struck first, swiping up the right wing to deliver a short cross to Pritchard. Pritchard rattled it off the crossbar, leaving the ball falling to Hedman, who had a simple finish from the penalty area.

Jim McNeill, in his usual inimicable style, was a rock in defense, negating the attacking challenge of the Rejistanians well, although the Rejistanian strikers shrugged him and Quailer off quite a few times, only a couple of superb saves from Mackintyre prevented the Lylians with an away goal for the Rejistanians on their hands. An unfortunately untimed tackle by Quailer left Lylia with a yellow card for him and a free kick dangerously placed on the edge of the box, but Mackintyre managed to negate that threat.

With terse and tenatious defending by the Rejistanians (it's how their national side are the big World Cup side they are after all), the supply of chances died down for the Lylians as well, until McInally, with a ferocious strike from 25 yards out, curved the ball into the top-left corner, where the Hetlasane Hetkali goalkeeper couldn't reach it.

David Hedman said this to the Times after the win:

"Well, you know, it's great, isn't it? After all, this is a side from one of the best footballing nations in the world. It's been brilliantly challenging trying to play against them. And there's no chance this is over yet. We kept a clean sheet, and pulled off a great victory, but there's still lots to be done. We had the home advantage after all, and the fans pulled off a great atmosphere. But we're going to Rejistania now, and we'll have to give it our all. It is, after all, only the first leg. I'm worried at our chances, but right now, I think if we work as hard as we did out there, you know, we'll scrape a victory."

With the Mackintosh Thistle Celtic giving an away goal victory to Tadjiki side Vaksh Qorgontheppa, it looks like the Foresters have the best chance of heading to the Third Qualifying stage of the illustrious Champions League.

North Pole United looking up as 2nd leg at home looks promising.

A comeback win over Rearward FC got North Pole United, and now after tying their 1st leg match of the 2nd round, heading home for the 2nd leg looks promising. When Paul Rowntree scored a hat-trick and Yanic Perrault scored the insurance goal, North Pole United knew they were going to the next round, but didn't expect to play against Visby Nestle Quarcoo of Lovisa.

Damien Marx had trouble filling in between the pipes during the 2nd game against Rearward FC, but was overshadowed by the stellar play of Irkutsk's Paul Rowntree. Scoring a hat-trick in the 1st 10 minutes didn't seem to bother him when the fans were screaming his name at Luzhniki Field. Worried photographers thinking they wouldn't get any memorable photographs for the papers were sorely mistaken in the 1st 10 minutes.

Right after the whistle, Rowntree took a long pass from Rahul Kulkarni and volleyed the ball high and left into the back of the net 21 seconds in. Debate speculating on whether the goal be counted as 0 minute mark or the 1 minute mark. Flags waving and fireworks screaming prematurely, North Pole United seemed to gain momentum from that goal.

In the 4th minute, Rowntree took a corner kick intended for a waiting Mike Ko on the far side of the net standing alone on the goal line. The ball curved more than expected to sail into the Rearward FC keeper's hands. But it seemed like the ball was possessed when the ball slipped through the hands and off the back of a Rearward FC defender to get the goal. The celebration was even bigger this time around when it was noted all North Pole United needed was to win by at least 2 goals to advance.

Rowntree sealed the game in the 10th minute by running through most of the Rearward FC team like they were pylons. A few seconds for Rowntree to successfully leave his own end and get the ball deep got most of the fans off their seat expectantly. He had got by a defender with 2 left when he chose to split them. Running by the 1st defender he was tripped and fell hard to the grass. Worried fans looked on as he was holding his knee, not something for a player like Rowntree to do.

Several minutes passed as worried players from both teams and worried fans faced anxiety when they realized he was well into the penalty area. The thought of a penalty shot brought a gleam of hope for fans and North Pole United players, and it seemed possible as Rowntree rose from the ground to take the shot. The keeper didn't have a chance as Rowntree blasted a shot high to the right deflecting in off the crossbar to give North Pole United a 3 goal lead.

The half seemed all North Pole United as many shots left keeper Damien Marx seeming asleep on his half of the field. But in the 51st minute a Rearward FC player got a weak shot off taking a wierd bounce off the post into the net behind a bewildered Marx. The goal made wishes of Kyle Thomas back in Hockey Canada start but was overshadowed 6 minutes later when Yanic Perrault scored.

Rowntree was tripped just outside of the penalty area forcing a free-kick for North Pole United. Perrault lined up the shot beautifully and punted the ball low and hard behind a wall of 6 players intot he lower left corner of the net ending the scoring to win the game and advance to the 2nd round.

The 1st leg was rather boring as Visby Nestle Quarcoo and North Pole United stayed 85 minutes without a goal. Numerous saves by Damien Marx and the Visby Nestle Quarcoo keeper were keeping the Lovisa crowd occupied, but the beer and shouts didn't start untilt he 85th minute when a Visby Nestle Quarcoo was tripped only 4 feet outside the goal line.

The penalty shot was a beautiful goal shortly before a streaker ran onto the field and stole the ball. The man is now being treated for multiple broken bones and bruises. In the 89th minute, Rahul Kulkarni tied the game up a 1 apiece when Mike Ko ran the ball to the far coner in Visby Nestle Quarcoo's half and crossed it to Kulkarni. Kulkarni simply deflected the ball into the net with his chest to rise fans to their seats and end the game 1-1.

Now that Visby Nestle Quarcoo will be playing in Hockey Canada, North Pole United is looking for yet another win.

But due to a little thing called "rules", this was quickly a drawback

OOC: The reason for that patents in Rejistania were that the temple wants the prestiguos teams to play defensively and during the WC, teams like Lemekanil Veran 80'la can sue national teams playing non-defensively. This will spread the spirit of Karela!

IC:
Temple outraged by Hockey Canadian offer

The high Priest was outraged by the offer of free beer from the Canadians. The Hadi and Vani for the monks and priests forbid explicitely the consumption of alcohol.High Priest Haxada said to reporters of the KaMaRi Update: "An offer which violates the rules of living that directly can not be taken serious. If we took it serious, we would have to be insulted. It is a good thing after all that North Pole Lavamje plays this defensive formation."

Business as usual for Rolestu in Champs League

RAPTOR CLAW -- In a very unsurprising match, Rolestu FC opened the second qualifying round of the Champions League with a 3-1 lead over East Island Clan.

"Well, there's really not a whole lot you can say about the match," said midfielder James Wong. "I mean, it wasn't boring or anything, but there was nevertheless nothing notable about it. We're one of the best teams in the world, we beat a mostly unknown team from Raptor Claw three-one away. Just another day in the life of a professional footballer."

And we agree with Wong. Rolestu will host the second leg at home tonight, where they are expected to move on to the third qualifying round without trouble.

Good effort goes unrewarded

Canterbury (Liamist States) - FC Albertine: 3 – 2

FC Albertine traveled to Canterbury knowing what they had to do: score. With Spruitland international Dirk Jools back in the team, it quickly became obvious that that was their intention, and Canterbury had their hands full in the first half hour.

But the Marmadukes survived the early onslaught and managed to hit the Spruitlanders where it hurt, sneaking one past goalkeeper Johan Verbeek – also returned from a successful BoF campaign – to go into half time with a 1-0 lead.

Albertine’s mission was still the same though, and one goal would still see them qualify, so the Spruitlanders kept pushing, and saw their efforts eventually rewarded when Dirk Jools headed the equalizer into the net.

Only to be back to square one five minutes later when Canterbury striker Iziary pounced one into the roof of the goal.

But FC Albertine kept fighting back, and while they weren’t able to completely dominate the play, they were at least the most attacking team, while Canterbury tried to control the midfield and take the pace out of the game.

Ten minutes before full time, right winger Ito Yun Sang forced the ball past Canterbury’s goalie to level the match again, sending Albertine to the next round on the away goals rule. At least, if they had been able to hang on to the draw. With the end of the game in sight, it was again Iziary who struck the finishing blow with a simple tap in on a lethal cross.

The defeat sees FC Albertine relegated to the Qualifying Round of the NSFA, where they will have to try and get past Bedistani team Floral FC. Even though Floral is not having the strongest season in the BPL, Albertine’s chances of survival are deemed very small.

“Stupid Marmaducks,” Dirk Jools scowled after the match. “Maybe I’ll stuff one in my suitcase and take it home. Been a while since I’ve had a barbecue party. Little seasoning, some red wine, invite friends over… Sounds like it could be fun.”

Megalopolis City F.C. advances to NSFA!

SOMEWHERE (BT) -- In a development not actually an accomplishment of any sort, Megalopolis City F.C. has "advanced" to the second NSFA Cup to face fellow BS 1st Division club Highbrow Athletic after a second loss to Fmjphoenix's Vanguard Eagles.

"Well, this way an Oglethorpian club for sure advances in whatever round of the NSFA Cup," said Megalopolis City F.C. goalie Mike White Jr. in curious optimism.

"That's a regression, dammit," said one fan, in disgust at White's comments.

While an interesting twist in the ever-intruiging tale of Megalopolis City F.C., a promising start to the club's NSCL bid ended in diminished spirits and embarassment.

Starblaydi striker Christian Macia, whose ex-club was defeated by Megalopolis City in their first two matches, would prove to be the deciding factor in the Vanguard Eagles' aggregate victory.

Threatening a good twenty minutes, Macia finally broke through with a spectacular goal on goalie Mike White Jr., who would be hard-pressed to challenge the shot even if he weren't the sluggish, narrow-minded goalkeeper he was.

Macia again scored on Megalopolis City F.C., the time in between the two only composed of the time it took to traverse the Megalopolis side of the pitch.

"What? Macia scored both goals?" said a bemused Harry Utterer after fulltime. "White Jr. told me they were both own goals, not results of his own brobdingnagian incompetence and poor coordination/motor skills."

A respectable attempt on Mike White's part, with the overall impression of the two matches overtly portraying White as a poorly trained keeper.

"He gave up five goals over four matches," pointed out striker Vinny Virile. "We were challenged just to keep up with all the shots he let by left and right in those first two matches, and just couldn't do it this time."

As alluded to before, Megalopolis City F.C. will face Highbrow Athletic, another Oglethorpian club in the NSFA Cup.

"I tolds ya all," remarked midfielder Coat MacHanger. "Of course we'd end up playing Highbrow. I'm sure that will be an unpredictable and interesting match. Hey, at least it'll be a break from a typical league game. Oh, wait."

NSFA Cup For Hypocrium City

Hypocrium City 0 – 1 Inland Peaks FC

Any team from Vilita was going to be a tough test and Inland Peaks FC proved just that. Even with the return of internationals like Blake, Derevko and Shirko the Hypocrian champions could find no way through the Peaks defence in the match in front of a huge crowd in Hypocrium. Shirko and Vtorbetin international, Kmatz, came closest for City but were denied by the impressive Oaker. Inland Peaks always looked the stronger side and scored a deserved goal midway through the second half courtesy of Adiguzel.

Inland Peaks FC 2 – 0 Hypocrium City
(Agg. 3 – 0)

No sooner had the international players returned they were off again. City’s Hypocrian international left to play in a tournament in South Osettia and this time added Horacio Veron to their ranks, although defender Craig Goodison and Vtorbetin striker Francesco Kmatz remained at the club. It was not ideal preparation for the trip to Vilita and consequently Hypocrium City were comfortably turned over at the home of Inland Peaks. Two goals, one in each half, from Riccardo Appolloni were enough to send Inland Peaks FC through to the next round and the Hypocrian champions down into the NSFA Cup.

Tuncastle Rovers win 3-2

North Island Clan managed to keep their home leg against Tuncastle Rovers down to 0-0 but back at the Roverdome the Rovers triumphed 3-2.

"That was a pretty eventful match," said veteran Captain and Goalkeeper Henry Tuckworth, "we all know how Raptor Claw teams play, so it was just a question of countering that. "Zeekey (Sike~nni~l Vanataraselidene), Rhysey (Rhys Owens) and Fletchey (Harry Fletcher) all had great efforts for goals, and we managed to hold them off. Rovers in the Champions League, eh? who would have thought it? All we need to do is get through one more Qualifying Round and we're sorted."

Tabeck FC win 3-0

Tabeck FC versus Silverymoon Knights of The Eagle's Nest - just like the first leg of the Rovers versus the North Island Clan - also ended in a 0-0 draw, but the defending Tiberius Cup champions travelled back to the Knights' home and crushed them 3-0 with two from Florencio Zaragoza and another from Rotenberg.

"Flo is fast becoming an integral part of this team, he's having the season of his life so far," said Tabeck Manager J.J. Stark, "I'd obviously have preferred to be entering at the third Qualifying Round, rather than the second, but it's good practise for these boys to get International competition."

Tabeck have proved over the past two years in Liga Starblaydia that they are a nifty Cup team, having won the Tiberius Cup for the last two years, and in the knockout environment of the Champions' League qualifiers, they can go all the way.

Rovers Broken By Late Onslaught

Gabalfa Rovers 0

(Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers win 3-1 on aggregate)

After the first leg's heroics, hopes were high for the Flames tonight. However, they failed to live up to those hopes after being well-beaten by an impressive
Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers.

Manager Akram At-Tariq kept faith with the same starting eleven that came away from Druida with the away goal, and once again it was Gabalfa who started off at a sprint. Gethin Ward tested the keeper early on with a stinging effort which was well-blocked, and Tariq Al-Jahani failed to convert the rebound.

Unlike the first leg, this game was much more evenly matched, the balance of play to-ing and fro-ing from one side to the other. The best chance of the first half fell to Fadl Ahmed after 26 minutes, a neat one-two with Kevin Salisbury putting him through on goal, where he rounded the keeper then promptly screwed the ball wide.

The second half began in a similar fashion with both teams carving out opportunities, but as the half wore on, it was the Druidans who dictated the play. Realising that they needed to score, the visitors threw caution to the wind and started throwing more men up front, forcing the home team to defend under great pressure for long spells.

This concerted pressure paid off as Trevor Jones latched onto a long diagonal ball, jinked his way into the penalty area and slotted home from ten yards.

This late setback prompted At-Tariq to play a bold attacking triple substitution to try and regain some of the earlier momentum, and this ploy worked to a fashion as young stirker Paul Jacobs forced an acrobatic save from the visiting keeper.

However, such attacking play often leaves a team's back line exposed, as Gabalfa Rovers found to their cost. Having smothered a shot from Gethin Ward, the Llllllllllcwllllllll keeper found Trevor Jones in midfield with a long throw, who in turn released his namesake Dai Jones for a clear run on goal. An exquisite chip over the advancing Amir Bettison made it two-nil on the night, and three-one to the Druidans overall.

As disappointing as it was to go out of the Champions league at their first hurdle, Rovers must pull themselves together for their attempt on the NSFA Cup, where they host Uäneres Ataï at The Gasworks tonight, before travelling to Predriana for the return leg.

But that doesnt mean a thing. Qorgontheppa is one of the strangest teams of Tadjikistan, always ready to surprise everyone and it would not surprise us to see one or more of its young talent on the field tomorrow.

SKA Pamir Dushanbe (Tadjikistan) v Inland Peaks FC (Vilita)
SKA Pamir Dushanbe is a the oldest team of Tadjikistan, back in the communsit times the Pamir team was wellknown in whole asia. Today this teams lives a bit in the shadow of Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade, their rivals from the north. But they are none the less a strong side.
SKA Pamir Dushanbe's management has kept its team in the Tadjik top five by buying players from other Tadjik teams. The club from Dushanbe can count on some wealthy sponsors for whom the club acts as an international magnet.
Now they will play against champions from other nations, for the first time ever, just like several other Tadjik clubs. Their first opponent will be Inland Peaks FC from Vilita. Again there is little to say about the Vilitan side, but if they are as good as Vilita's national team then the Pamir team should watch out. It would also mean they are the underdog, a position that is always good to start from.

TOUGH DRAWS FOR DRUIDAN SIDES
United play Turorians, Rovers Starblaydis.

Two of Druida's top sides are just 180 minutes away from joining the 2015 DPL champions Druid Tribune in the proper stages of the Champions League. But news of the draw doesn't seem to have inspired much confidence.

After getting through two qualifying rounds already, Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers have the challenging task of Iskara Daii of our neighbours in Starblaydia, while Cranbury United get to travel to that piddly little island just over the sea. Yes, FC Almintora of Turori are United's opponents, from the land that Druidans really love to be not all that keen on.

United's likely starting eleven for their games is as follows...

Manager: Trevor Wilson (Druida)

1) Trevor Perry (GK, Druida)
2) Mike Simonds (LB, Druida)
3) Trevor Fielding (RB, Druida)
4) Trevor Celo (CM, Druida)
5) Freddie Logan (CB, Druida)

Vella steal Champions Spotlight

---------------------------------With local hero Mika Sakatorra in attendance, Cedniavella Turori advanced in spectacular fashion through Oliverrian based favorites Limognon Beroniers. Cedniavella who compete outside the league system, qualified for the NSFA Cup by virtue of being the top performing non-league team during the 17th Vilitan Cup. While Cedniavella have never been able to prove themselves in the league system, with the selections commitee hesitant to include two Turorian teams from the same city, the have caused many cup upsets in their 17 seasons. Their triumph over Limognon Beroniers will certainly rank amongst the very best however, being the first for the non-professional side in international competition. Cedniavella took a 2-1 lead back to Turori for the second leg, where they delivered a crushing 4-1 defeat to their foreign counterparts. With cross town rivals and current national champions Cednia Beach AFC still awaiting to take to the NS Champions League in the group stage, the top tourist destinatioin in the Island Emirate was tuned in to see their small time club compete in a rare televisted performance. Cedniavella kept their compusre and earned the hard faught 4-1 victory and a fully deserved passage through to the NSFA Cup proper. The local media, who had previously been busy covering the day to day activities at Cednia beach and interviews with beach head coach Alexander Ostling, featured highlights of Cedniavella Omar Makara, the hattrick hero and the only snippets from coach Ostling were in regards to their cross town opposition.

" I don't mind if they take all the spotlight" the Cednia Beach AFC manager said, "Milaou has opened up his pockets and allowed me to bring in some new players. Everyones expectations of us are going to be huge now that we've stolen the title from the best team in the World, but a bunch of these guys have never even played a match together, so the more time we get to practice the better off we'll be. Cedniavella have done well just to get invited to the NSFA Cup, so to win their first matchup they must be thrilled, it's great for them and wonderful for the city as well. Performing that well they've earned the attention, and I wish them the best in the competition. I can just hope we can build on their success and steal some headlines of our own when we get out onto the pitch."

Sands Down But Not Out

Rolestu 2 (Norton 19, Po 44)
Akani Sands 1 (Harding 86)

As expected the Storm were overturned by a strong Rolestu side, although they've given themselves a faint glimmer of hope by coming away from Yi Park with a late away goal.

The home side dominated for the majority of the first half, forcing a succession of corners early on. However, it was from a swift counter attack that Joshua Norton put the home side in front after he latched onto to a long clearance by the impressive Li Po.

It was Po who put his team two goals to the good on the stroke of half-time, heading in a corner at the far post.

Akani Sands started to get back into the game in the second half as the home side sat back to defend their lead. John Harding, Zak Haynes and Ionwen Mirza all went close before the Bettian international Harding clawed a goal back for the visitors, thumping in a powerful header from a Mirza cross.

Akani Sands return to Shubunkin Park for the second leg hoping to convert their home advantage into much-needed goals. Of course, it won't be easy, but as they say, the cup is a great leveller.

NOT TOO BAD
Liam Gessemschmitthaagen-Po on the Champions League Third Qualifying Round

The two Druidan sides in the hunt for Champions League places didn't do as badly as we all thought they would in their opening away legs of the last round of qualifying.

Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers were up against Iskara Daii in Starblaydia, and were probably expected to lose to Starblaydia's best club historically. But not in the stylish way that they did. Yes, despite all the odds, Rovers have come away losing despite scoring three away goals, a statistic that could prove vital in the final reckoning.

Rovers were 4-1 down at one point, before Trevor Jones somehow latched onto two corners in the last twelve minutes, despite being tightly marked by Leopoldo Lopez, to give Rovers a chance in the home leg.

Meanwhile, Cranbury United were in piddly little island playing FC Almintora. It wasn't going to be easy, but a Samson Trouwel shot from twenty yards midway through the second half cancelled out Serge DuPont's header, and they go to Cranbury Park Lane next week at one apiece.

Champions League 7 results - Beersheba United in action

The first games for the fantastic Champions League 7 tournament for Jeruselem teams have started - well actually one. Beersheba United entered Round 3 and played the mighty Vanguard Eagles who were impressive in CL6. For Beersheba it was an away game which made it more important.

The result was a draw but on the away goals rule, Beersheba benefitted. Both teams were defensively tight all game with one aboration each. No one was domimant and the defenses proved tough to penetrate for not the lack of trying.

The 2nd match will be important and Beersheba must score more goals as the Eagles are so capable of scoring the required aways goals.

For those Jerusalem United fans, they play later and have a less lenghty path to travel.

Peaks stuck in Valley after first leg

---------------------Inland Peaks FC were sent crashing back down to earth after the first leg of their Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round matchup with Tadjikistan's SKA Pamir Dushanbe. Inland Peaks had made a convincing debut in international competition in their Second Qualifying Round clash with Hypocria City. It was the first ever Internationstatal matchup for the newest power club in Vilita, and many felt that after a three goal victory over the two legged tie, Inland Peaks could have been on their way to meeting up with fellow Vilitan sides Arcticala Inlet and Yeaddin Owls AFC in the Champions League group stage. They still had one team to go through, however, and that was Tadjikistan's SKA Pamir Dushanbe. SKA Pamir Dushanbe is well known for being the oldest team in all of Tadjikistan, and they would prove to be a tough test for the explosive Inland Peaks side.

After posting a pair of shutouts in his first two appearances for his new club, Jawz Oaker's confidence was riding high going into the first leg of the third qualifying stage. However, he and his teammates were quickly sent crashing back down to earth after a first half double from Yepishev put Pamir Dushanbe up 2-0 at the break. After a half time spur from head coach and left midfielder Calaesa Mitaroka, the Peaks came out blazing in the second half and looked to have scored one back through Riccardo Appolloni, only for the goal to be ruled offside, the linesman deciding that Appolloni had stepped beyond his marker before Mitaroka's clever ball was played. The blow was not only a damper on the scoresheet, but also in the Peak's morale, and Dushanbe netted a third to kill off the game just before full time. Inland Peaks FC will now have their work cut out for them in the return leg if they are going to avoid an early elimination from the worlds premier internationstatal domestic cup.

Vaje~n'viki!

Vaje~n Sekhika won their first Champions League match against the Chicanadian FC Esten. The match was a typical Karela-esque match, whether this has something to do with Rejistanian fans carrying orb-shaped devices in Vaje~ni Blue. It was visible that the Rejistanians had less problems with the tactics. The coach of Esten became angry at the tactic of his team and shouted they should attack. The few times they did that, a counter-attack of Vaje~n Sekhika followed and twice, it was successfull. Forward Sink~hil (pronounced as "Zingil") Syku scored twice.

Qorgonthepiians not so perfect

An excellent start in this cup for the Qorgontheppans gave them the confidence they needed to go to Bedistan. Sharipov wasnt too scared, knowing he had several internationals who beat the Bedistani national team in the last World Cup, but he clearly underestimated them.
South Coast United is not the pushover they expected it to be, The Tadjiks started very agressivly and ùade some good moves towards the Bedistani goal. The result of their persistence was an early, and somewhat lucky, goal by striker Oleg Salenko.
But S. Coast United put everything back in order and returned the favor in the second half, scoring two goals and sending the Qorgontheppans home with a loss.
Sharipov must now win with 2-0 to go through, but even a 1-0 at home can get them there. He's learnt a valuable lesson here, one which he will definitly remember if things go wrong in the return match.

Good start for the Pamir team

Things went quite different for SKA Pamir Dushanbe that had to go up against Inland Peaks FC from Vilita, considered to be a strong side well capable of defeating the Tadjiks.
Samblevski was cautious in his tactic and played it safe for as long as he could. But the Tadjiks won with a bit of luck and the help of striker Georgi Yepishev who scored twice in the first half for the team from Dushanbe.
In the second half the Vilitan team, eager to equalise, put the pressure on the Tadjiks and came close when Appolloni scored. But he was offside.
From there on the Pamir team took over again from a demoralized opponent and finished the job by sending Maslennikov past their defense into the right corner of the Inland Peaks box.

Woodstock Wild roster (starters in bold):
Coach: David Bostwick

GOALKEEPERS
30 Horace Sandt~: Sandt is coming off status as the Most Outstanding Player of World Cup XXII, allowing three goals during the run of play in 17 matches. He also won the inaugural AO Champions League trophy.
1 Brian Tawes^: Ironically, this is the same goalkeeper configuration the most successful Under 21 team had. Tawes was beaten out by Sandt again.

DEFENDERS
2 Mike Coyle~: Stars for the national team and has earned his spot as one of the fastest players on the Wild.
5 Gerald Ruff: Plays left center back and works very well with Coyle.
6 Harvey Benson: Just named the starter at right center back. Still hasn't developed chemistry with Ruff yet.
12 Trevor Crenshaw~: Solidified a spot on the national team with his play in the AOCAF IV tournament. Has become a steady player for Coach David Bostwick.
15 Corey Tolliver: The former starter at right center back, Tolliver has lost a step but was never really fast to begin with. Has great chemistry with Ruff, so can be the first player off the bench if the Wild needs to tighten up its defense.
16 John Mason: Can play either defense or midfield, and plays whichever role he's needed. He can hold possession of the ball even in the tightest spaces.

MIDFIELDERS
13 James West: Can play either midfielder or forward and will be called on as an offensive substitute if the Wild is trailing.
8 Peter Salivera: Shuts down opposing playmakers like few midfielders in the league. He is one of the best players at studying game film and picking up tendencies of opponents.
9 Darrell Bennett~: Called up to the second choice national team for the AOCAF tournament but he's looking for a chance to start on the senior team.
10 Bobby Convey: Team captain. A World Cup veteran and a key member of both Stars championship teams, Convey will be looked to for leadership and experience.
11 Lane Carrollton: The best all-around player on the team, but he can get a bit distracted. He usually saves his best games for the most important moments.

FORWARDS
21 Brian Wilson~: This national team standout usually scores the team's biggest goals when he's not playing for the Stars.
17 Mike Lemke: Needs great service from Convey to excel since he's a pure striker. Led the team in goals, but he's usually the first player to be substituted.

Attack means defeat!

As both rejistanian teams realized once more, the key to defeat is attack. Especially Karela Lines suffered from attacking tendencies. Their play reminded of the old days in the dark age, when SLS R faced Hetlasane (in the dark age, they played in the same divisasi). Maybe va'takil'ny were brought into the stadium by terrorists or maybe the Karelans ran out of Karelan Spruits. Va'karela'ny are unfortunately not allowed in Champions League matches due to strange regulations. The Karelans lost in this match with <CENSORED FOR DECENCY> goals with one goal difference.

Also Vaje~n Sekhika suffered from many defensive mistakes and gave the Druidan team Druid Tribune too many chances of which 2 were capitalized. Especially Hiti~n Sa~o had a horrible day. Goalkeeper Ita Syku later commented: "We had worst start possible, we are last in group. We will have to improve highly now, or we are quicker out than one can say 'slani'!"

R'dhuz'lith Win, Harewood Lose
Harewood In It

R'dhuz'lith K'druz'ba have, surprisingly, been one of the best defensive sides in the Champions' League so far, although their results have been convincing - and the no goals conceded is mostly due to their excellent goalkeeper, Kelse Howe. In a relatively easy group, they won their first match by 3-0 over the Vanguard Eagles of Fmjphoenix, and they showed no signs of lacking in international experience - which was feared, as they were given a bye into the group stage. Darren Stubbs scored the first goal after hullabaloo inside the box, a cross from Joe Goldthorp giving him the chance, while Lars Bootstealer's free kick gave them two-nil just before half-time. In the second half, substitute Joanna Chippendale made it three-nil, with a shot that just snared its way past three Vanguard Eagles players.

In the second game, R'dhuz'lith did not impress, and Kelse Howe's good goalkeeping saved a solitary point as their passing play went astray. However, they are still top of the group, and they're looking to pick holes in Karela lines' defence - something which has worked excellently so far, the lines conceding five goals. Meanwhile, Harewood FC have got an awful start. Somehow, they managed a 0-2 loss away to Western United of Crystilakere, two horrible defensive errors from Paul Taylor the decisive effort (along with abysmal keeping from Ivan van Oosterom, who was substituted for Jimmy Boon in the next game), and despite massive pressure in the away game against Alexandria Porcupines, Allison Worth headed in the decisive goal for the 'pines to send them top of the group - while Harewood is now last in the group, desperately needing points against Tabeck FC to have any chance of survival in the Champions League.

RAY OF LIGHT
Bill Posters on Druid Tribune's success so far

It may sound odd to most Druidans, but there is a side from our nation that is doing just as well on the international scene as they are domestically.

Yes, Druid Tribune, on course for their second championship in a row in 2016, have won two group games out of two so far, putting them level on points wit hCedina Beach AFC at the top of their group, and six points ahead of Hevenaii Intracella Techs from Gaian Ascendency and Rejistanian side Vaje~n Sekhika.

However, there are still four games to go. Those are words that will be a of relief to Cranbury United. They started off OK, losing by just a goal to nil at reigning champions Yeaddin Owls, but a 3-0 home defeat to South Island Clan of Raptor Claw gives us the impression that they're probably about as Druidan as our biggest band ever, Trevor Trevor and the Trevors (backing vocals Trevor).

If it were all like this

One of the most succesfull clubs here is Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade, Champions of Tadjikistan. They are quite dominating at home and were long the main suplliers of players to the national team. Tursunzade's funds come mainly from rich industrials in the Viloyat Khatlon valley, especially the companies on the Surkhondaryo Highway.
And since recently these sponsors have increased their support, now realizing their main tool for publicity is making it into the next stage of the Champions league.

With succes, I must add. Tursunzade won its first two matches against Bedistani FC Rolestu and Waterloo United with with 0-1 and 0-2 respectivly.

It was the Old Gasparian who led the chapions to their two victories, giving assists to the son Of the famous Igor Pliiev, Michael Pliiev and Pavel Bayerenov, who is also part of the Tadjik National team.

So when Andrej Mirzoyev leads his team up against Angel Core Sentinels from Gaian Ascendancy, he will have little to fear, knowing his team leads group 3.

R'dhuz'lith's Hopes Smashed
lines Score Thrice

A hopelessly poor performance by R'dhuz'lith at home to Karela lines has seen them out of the running in the shout for a second round in the Champions' League. Two goals from Haki I La, midfielder at Karela lines (yes, they have one, although they prefer to call him "other-position-player") and one from Seja I Siki, who took a free kick, resulted in R'dhuz'lith losing 0-3. Manager Stoneaxe was fuming.

"It is not right," he said. "We were expecting these guys to hang in the crossbar waiting to punt out our shots, and instead they come out playing real football. It's so unfair! I want a replay! And my teddy! WANNA TEDDY! NOW!!"

Subsequently, Mr Stoneaxe was taken off to hospital, diagnosed with a severe case of pediatric reversible syndrome. His assistant, Einari Golddigger, takes over for now.

Regar Qualified they say

It looks like Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade qualified for the next round, atleast thats what the Champions League organization said. And if they say it it must be true, Waterloo Utd can still get to the first spot however if Regar loses twice and Waterloo Utd wins twice with a better goal difference.
But Mr Mirzoyevs team will not give it away for free, even with their home advantage Waterloo Utd will meet a side that is eager to go through to the next stage as the only Tadjik club - SKA Pamir Dushanbe isnt doing very well.

A side that learnt how persistent the Tadjiks are is FC Rolestu from Bedistan, who lost their second match, this time at home, against Regar with 0-2 and unless they really put their act together and do what they have to do, are eliminated.

A similar fate awaits SKA Pamir Dushanbe, only 4 points from 4 games is not enough to pass on to the next round, in their two coming matches they must win, a single slipup means elemination.

Harewood Jump On Last Train
Take 1-0 Win Over 'Pines

With three points from four games, Harewood looked down the barrel at home in the fifth round against Alexandria Porcupines from Bedistan. Having lost the first game 0-1 thanks to an Allison Worth goal, Harewood vowed to make the attacks count this time - and despite a disallowed goal for offside against, they prevailed with a 1-0 win, Travis Robertson heading in a goal from the corner of the penalty box. Meanwhile, R'dhuz'lith K'druz'ba made it through to the second round after a 1-1 draw with Wellan side Zaks-Ferari Ebrig, thanks to Vanguard Eagles beating Karela lines out of the tournament.

Harewood now face hapless Tabeck FC in the last game (we should know they're hapless - Paul Aketon used to play for him), and need a win, preferably by three or four goals, or hope that Western United of Crystilakere spring another surprise and defeat the Alexandria Porcupines. If Harewood do win by five goals, they're through if Alexandria manage a draw, although it does look unlikely.

DT THROUGH
Liam Gessemschmitthaagen-Po on Hevenaii Intracella Techs 1 Druid Tribune 3

It has happened at last! After god knows how long, Druid Tribune seem to have gone some way towards dispelling the curse of Druidan clubs in international club competitions by reaching the last sixteen and winning their group with a game to spare.

The firepower of Defnyddiwch and Montenegro, the athleticity of young Trefor Edwards Jr., the strength of the defence, the industry of the midfield, all the things that have terrorised the DPL over the last few seasons have been visible in abundence during the campaign.

No more so than against the Techs from Gaian Ascendancy. One each for the front two, a third from Ronnie Baston, and they'd been blown away by half time. Even a late consolation didn't help, as DT flew into the next round. Whether or not there will be seedings, we are not aware, but on current form (DT have the best record in all eight groups) they might not need it!

Qualified

Victory! is what Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade achieved in its first tournament on international level. No, they did not reach the finals yet, but what they did do, was win in their group and push the other sides away as if they were walkovers.

We were really surprised at the ease at which Regar qualified in this group, even beating what was marked as the strongest side; Rolestu FC, champions of Bedistan and one of the teams who end in last position, eliminated.

The only team that succeeded in beating the Tadjiks was Waterloo United, and by this victory they got through to the next round to, maybe they should thank us for giving them those points and pushing back Angel Core Sentinels, the side that got eliminated in the last match, against Regar.

Angel Core Sentinels - Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade 1-3

A last visit before the end of the group stage to FMJPhoenix and Regars opponent Angel Core Sentinels. Really little is known of this club in Tadjik circles except that they tied to Regar in the home match.

The tadjiks had to pull some tricks out of there sleeve to get through this one, but they happened to have a good striker with a big smile on his face, Peter Bayerenov, who is now linked to a Krytenian club.

On his own Bayerenov scored twice and gave an assist to Meretskov who scored the third goal that sealed Angel Cores fate in this cup. Angel Core Sentinels tried to save its honor or anything else they could save and made a last big offensive against the Tadjiks, but it took them until the 88th minute to get a shot past Rastorguev.

Utter disgrace for Bedistan CL teams

There is little joy to be found in Bedistan at the close of the Champions League group stage. Sure, two of our three teams are proceeding to the next round, but let's face facts here. South Coast United got through by the skin of their teeth, one point ahead of Lovisan club Lovos-Renault Atma. The Alexandria Porcupines were the only team that could manage a winning record in admittedly a decent performance. But let's not even talk about Rolestu FC. Entered the CL as the second-place league finishers in 2075, went on to win the title in '76. And they go 1-2-3 in the CL, finishing fourth out of four and completely crashing out of all international competition. Need I remind you that the three Bedistani entrants had a combined 2-4-6 record in the final four days of the group stage? That might be acceptable for First Division teams, but not in the BPL - performances like those shown would have them relegated as surely as we won World Cup 21. The fans are, of course, not happy, and mark my words, there will be at least one manager sacked as a result of this performance, perhaps two.

Both Alexandria and South Coast are expected to lose to teams no Bedistani has ever heard of in the next round.

Round of 16 Draw

Township v Woodstock Wild
Waterloo United v Blackpunkt Leve
Yeaddin Owls AFC v Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade
South Coast United v Arcticala Inlet AFC
Alexandria Porcupines v Zaks-Ferari Ebrig
Cedina Beach AFC v Montepool Waves
Iskara Daii v Druid Tribune
R'dhuz'lith K'druz'ba v Western United

Before anyone asks, yes the draw is more World Cup than blind. So yes, Groups A-D are in one set and Groups E-H are in the other. This does set up some funny next round matches, such as the possibility of an all-Vilita quaterfinal and a Star/Nova semifinal as well. I kept getting really odd looking draws when done blind (like, 3 matches had group winners facing each other, Vilita v Vilita Ro16, Bedistan v Bedistan Ro16, etc) so I went this way.

Porcupines booed off pitch in Champs League match

ALEXANDRIA -- As many fans feared, the Alexandria Porcupines failed spectacularly to get the job done in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-sixteen matchup against Lovisan club Zaks-Ferari Ebrig.

All was well at the beginning of the match, with Allison Worth putting her 'pines up one-nil twenty minutes in. Much of the remainder of the first half saw little action on the pitch, with most of the excitement provided by Alexandria fans performing such chants as "You should have come in a taxi", referring to the rather empty half of the stadium reserved for ZFE fans. The Lovisan fans and team did not seem to take kindly to this, and things changed greatly when the second half kicked off.

Perhaps goalkeeper Tom Pratt was simply tired. After all, he's also been serving international duty for Bedistan. Most people say that's still no excuse for what happened, though. ZFE scored the equalizer in the 54th minute with a shot off the near post. Astoundingly, the same player snaked his way through the entire Alexandria defense just five minutes later to put the visitors up 2-1. The ZFE fans that were present promptly launched a chant of their own, albeit in a language unknown to the vast majority of Bedistanis, including this reporter. The last straw for the home fans came in the 73rd minute when a sloppy tackle by Chris Rodríguez resulted in a penalty kick for the visitors. It was easily converted, putting Alexandria down 3-1. At that point, the home fans turned against their own team, now shouting such chants as "Are you Floral in disguise?" (Floral FC being one of the 'pines' main rivals). A demoralized Porcupines side failed to produce any more offense and the whistle blew on their two-goal home loss to a side they should've defeated.

It is now extremely unlikely that Alexandria will progress to the quarterfinals unless ZFE undergo a collapse akin to that of Rizh'peith K'druz'ba in the first round of the NSFA Cup. As expected, we suppose.

Regar in need of a boost

After a good start and some fine victories in the group stage the club from Tursunzade now finds itself beaten and close to elimination. Yeaddin Owls, from Vilita are responsible the only goal, but experts agree that it is more than that.
Recently Peter Bayerenov was bought by Ousevale Borough from Krytenia, he did not wait for a second, he packed his bags and visited his new club to sign the contract. So in his absence, Mirzoyev had to field substitute Antonov. A good player but inexperienced at international football.
Mirzoyev repeadetly asked his club to get him a new striker to lead the team and got approval to talk to Vaksh Qorgontheppa, recently eliminated from the NSFA cup, about a possible transfer of Oleg Salenko and Farrukh Gissar, where Regar wants to buy Striker Tanai, the new goalgetter of the Tadjik Tigers.
So far the club from Tursunzade refused to comment its transfer politics and said it would reveal possible transfers once the contracts were signed. It really cant be predicted who will join Regar. Since the clubs recent successes it has the funds to buy any player from any Tadjik club.

-------------------Yeaddin Owls have consistently been one of the best teams in Vilita. However, it was a major upset when Yeaddin pipped Marine Coast United to the inagural Vilitan League Title. Marine got one over on Yeaddin though at the end of the season, when Marine out-dueled Yeaddin to the Tropical Trophy, played between the Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions at the completion of each season. Yeaddin were unable to qualify for the Trophy in Season 2 after a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Tivali City. Jonathon Stott and Nigel Chapman put the Owls 2-0 up at the half, but Tivali fought back and upset the Two-Time League champions in their only Vilitan Cup final appearance. The Owls looked ready to face Marine Coast in the Season Three Cup final, before a 2-1 second leg defeat to Cednia Beach saw Yeaddin out.

-------------------Yeaddin Owls finished a remarkable season 10 with a record 24 games unbeaten in all competitions, including their 16 game winning streak midseason, along with a record 70 Stellar Division Points, 76 Stellar Division Goals Scored and just 16 conceded, as well as the all-time record 7-1 victory over Tivali City to add to their record books. The title was the Owls 6th consecutive championship, and 8th overall.

----------------Yeaddin find themselves in the record books for two of the most lopsided victories in the history of the Vilitan Stellar Division. The 6-0 Victor over Inland Peaks in Season One still stands as the most lopsided match in Vilitan History. Yeaddin were 4-0 up after just 25 minutes, before Jonathon Stott added 2 more in the last 15 minutes of the match to complete his 3-Goal Performance. It was also one of the last matches for German Salomon at the club, his 26th minute goal one of his last before his transfer to Kingsford Club Elders. The 6-0 Result has only been duplicated once since then, in Cednia Beach's 6-0 victory over Lopinka in season three. However, Cednia had the luxury of 2 Penalty Kicks in the opening 15 minutes, after Lopinka had their goalkeeper sent off. The 1-5 Defeat at Strike goes down as the second most lopsided scoreline in Stellar Division history. The Owls had taken an early lead, before Serge DuPont equalized for Strike with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half. DuPont lit up the stage in the second half, with 2 quick goals for himself, then setting up another for a teamate to put Strike ahead 4-1. The fifth goal was gifted to Strike after DuPont's shot was deflected in for a Yeaddin own goal.

Ricky Ezis is one of the most exciting prospects in all of Vilita, being molded in the exact form of the most capped Vilitan player in history, Enzo Ahat. The Strike FC defender plays alongside former Vilitan Nationals Danilo Liguori and David Leacock in the Stellar Division and frequently outshines his more experienced teammates. His performances have consistently earned him selection to the National team in favor of this duo, and Arcticala Inlet's Emarka Laniora. Ricky transferrd to Yeaddin Owls in Season 14 and helped lead them to the Stellar Division Championship.

[ 67 ] Ade Hinds [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]

Ade Hinds transferred to Turoki Isle for Vilitan Season 14 after the Islanders made a surprise shift towards Vilitan based talent, offloading foreigners Alejandro Vantrease and Henrik Bastale, but returned one season later back home to Eastal Lunar. Hinds picked up his first career goal while at Turoki Isle, a feat which he would double in Season 17 after transferring to the Yeaddin Owls and taking up a role closer to midfield.

DEFENSIVE MID:

[ 34 ] Daniel Oram [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]

MIDFIELDERS:

[ 27 ] Jacques Vintila [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 31 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 1 REG: 0 )
Once tipped to change the face of Vilitan Sport, the Cednia, Turori born player made his move to the Stellar Division when signing for Jlinal Cove FC. Vintilla impressed at the Cove despite their relegation in his first season, but has cooled off recently. Vintila is the rarity at Jlinal Cove, the only Attacking Midfielder on record at Jurgen Ramzi's defensive-minded work house, but his attacking prowess has yet been able to see Jlinal Cove back to the Stellar Division. After spending 5 Seasons with Arcticala Inlet, and earning multpile victories in the Vilitan Cup, Vintila made the move to the Yeaddin Owls in Season 17.

[ 24 ] Malaino Mumamba [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- M C ( Turori International )

[ 20 ] Antonis Siazzu [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 25 GOALS::SR: 5 U21: 7 REG: 0 )
Siazzu is a product of the Yeaddin Owls youth academy, moving on a fully funded loan deal to Melmondian side Titania Forests during the World Cup 19 Qualifiers. The impressive youth midfielder is one of the youngest since World Cup 13 to make a regular starting role in the Senior National Team, taking up the role during World Cup 19 Qualifiers at just 17 years of age. Working under Coach Nigel Chapman, Siazzu was apart of arguably the best midfield lineup in the entire World, taking up a central role alongside Calaesa Mitaroka, with the phenominal Inaki Soler and the always reliable Tanner Nerni on either side. However, Siazzu and Soler left the Owls during the Season 12 Exodus to train independantly and focus on international play. However, after failing to achieve promotion with Alikki-Corra in Season 13, the price on Siazzu's head was to much for the Declasse side to pass up, with the exciting young midfielder moving to Arcticala Inlet for a fee almost double that of the previous record for a Vilitan club. Arcticala failed to press for the Stellar Division title, despite 4 consecutive appearances in the Vilitan Cup final, and Siazzu returned to partner old friend Inaki Soler at Yeaddin Owls AFC In Season 16 for a fee much reduced from the fee Inlet paid to acquire him from Alikki-Corra.

[ 24 ] Taurxa Jeroen [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- M C ( Audioslavia International )

[ 23 ] Tanner Nerni [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 32 GOALS::SR: 5 U21: 6 REG: 3 )
The Impressive Wing Midifleder, born & raised in Turori by Vilitan parents, saw his first international action in the Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football. Nerni's performances at a young age in the AOCAF Cup and for Cednia Beach AFC in Turori earned him what was a then-record transfer to high-flying Yeaddin Owls AFC, a fee still only twice eclipsed, both in Vilitan Season 10. Nerni, however, seemed to have never made the impact on the National Stage, as is the case with many of the Owls stars, who seem to save their best performances for the league and never walk too far from the bench when the Teal, Orange and Navy are in action. That is, until the World Cup 20 final. It was Nerni's penetrating runs down the right flank that eventually earned Vilita the World Cup for the first time, Nerni scoring the winning goal and becoming the hottest commodity in sport. Eventually, Eastal Lunar tendered an offer no club could refuse, and Nerni was off to his new club for an all-time record Vilitan transfer. Nerni's impact at Eastal Lunar was nothing of what was expected of a World Cup hero, and Nerni made a less than blockbuster move back home to Cednia Beach AFC. However, looking to bolster their Season 17 squad, the Owls came calling once again for their former superstar winger.

Surf Confident Despite Loss

---------------------After advancing to the Quarter Finals for the third consecutive running of the Nationstates Champions League, the pride and joy of Vilita, the Yeaddin Owls AFC would certainly be held as one of the clear favorites to advance to the Semi Finals. It is also the second time that the Owls have been joined in the Quarter Finals by Turori's pride and joy, Cednia Beach AFC. The two clashed in the 5th Nationstates Champions League, with the Owls coming out the victors after a map-placing run by the top team in Turori. This time however, it is Cednia Beach who can boast the Vilitan League Title, edging out the Yeaddin Owls atop the table in the most recent season, and also outperforming their rivals throughout the Champions League thus far, right up to their first leg of the Quarter Finals. The heavily armed Cednia Beach side easily swamped past Zaks-Ferari Ebrig despite being away from home. Kenter Surf's Yeaddin Owls faced admittedly tougher opposition in Bedistan's South Coast United, but Surf was pleased with the performance his side gave.

---------------------"Yes, it's dissapointing to lose, at this stage of the competition we just want to get to the next round. Losing games is not the way to get there, but we played well and Alejandro did well to get us an away goal that could prove vital in the second leg. We're only down by a goal right now and we're going back to the Lirai Asku Castle, so I fancy our chances. I don't think theres a team in the world that looks forward to coming to the Castle, at least from a match point of view. The fans are die-hard in Yeaddin and they pack the stadium every time, whether it's for us or for the National Team, the atmosphere inside the Castle walls is just incredible, I don't think even the engineers could have predicted it. It will definately be tough for South Coast United to adapt to that kind of environment, but it will only encourage our lads to perform even better, so hopefully we can snatch a couple of goals and get through to the semi-finals."

Vilitans Look For Final Berth
(And we ain't talkin' 'bout Yeaddin, here)

Jhanna Chronicle Iskara Daii Special

We all know that Liga Starblaydia is one of the greatest leagues in the world. Sure, they vie with the Vilitan Stellar Division and maybe even the Bedistani Premier League on its good days for the genuine 'best league in the world' status, but it's certainly up there.

The cosmopolitan squads, the last-day dramas and the over-all quality of football are pretty damn good to watch, so it's not surprising that Liga Starblaydia's greatest team represents it in the Semi-Finals of the Champions' League. Despite finishing as runners-up to the Montepool Waves in Liga Starblaydia Season 3 by just a single point on the last day of the season, Iskara Daii are by far the most famous club team in Starblaydia's history. Captain Antonis Ratuva knows this all too well:

"Of course there's always a lot of pressure on us, but we're the Daii, and we're that good. We're on a tight fight in Liga Starblaydia with Tabeck, we're on a roll in the Tiberius Cup and we're in two separate Champions' Leagues - Atlantian Oceania's and Nationstates'. We can win it all or we can lose it all, it's in our hands."

Veteran Ratuva knows his opponents well, as do the other two Vilitans in the Daii squad, Carmine Mbidzo and Rueben Laberge. Most notably Mbidzo, who played for Cednia Beach for six seasons before moving on to Marine Coast United and then the Daii.

"The Beach are obviously a great team," he said, "anyone who holds the Stellar Division title deserves utmost respect, but we're the Daii, and if they don't respect us they're in for a shock."

That crucial triangle of Vilitans at the heart of Starblaydia's forward-thinking is cruical to their attacking flair, though three Cup of Harmony-winning Nova Britannicans - one on either flank and one in the goal - plus a Bedistani left-back doesn't hurt their team either.

Niccoló Mazzeo earned a favorable report from Vilitan Coach Helmut Vilkaus and was tapped to replace Esemar Aliana upon his retirement from International Play. Mazzeo was trained at the Inland Peaks academy, one of a handful of academys that were established at the very start of the Vilitan League to help develop future talent. Mazzeo was of the first group of youngsters accepted, and remained in the Academy until receiving an offer at the age of just 14 to play for Wunokalsa Waridi in Turori. Mazzeo played a season for Waridi, and his performances there caught the eye of Inland Peaks, who decided they wanted the youngster to return home and play for them. Return he did, anchoring the backline for 8 successive seasons and amounting a massive 37 appearances in Season 17, before making the switch back to Turori where he would line up for Season 17 champions Cednia Beach AFC.

------- M LC ( Rejistania International )

[ 9 ] Andrea Lamberti [ - Cednia Beach AFC (TUR) - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 25 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Lamberti became the youngest player to ever feature for the first team at Arcticala Inlet and has been tipped as the next Giacomo Adika after a high profile transfer to Nusira-Lionta following Vilitan Season 9. At just 17 years old, looked set to be a regular in the Vilitan starting lineup following the semi-retirement of Adika and Enzo Ahat. However, a widely-publicized screw up in World Cup 19 cost Lamberti his position at Nusira Lionta, and he moved to Jlinal Cove. Lamberti would spend an impressive six seasons at Jlinal Cove, potentially earning back his reputation, and his place in the national team. Impressive performances in Season 17, where he also managed to score two goals, earned the then 25 year old defender a transfer to newly crowned Turorian Champions Cednia Beach AFC.

[ 2 ] Vite Makose [ - Cednia Beach AFC (TUR) - ]
------- D C ( Druida/Vilita International )

[ 26 ] Maurizio Sala [ - Cednia Beach AFC (TUR) - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 27 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 5 REG: 0 )
The former Tivali City youth trainee transferred to Nusira Lionta from Marine Coast during Vilitan season 9 in an attempt to get regular first team action. Sala was left with just 10 starts in two seasons with Marine Coast before being transferred to Turoki Isle, where he learned his trade as a free kick specialist. After some impressive performances, Sala returned to Marine Coast in Season 13. Sala spent 5 seasins with Marine Coast United, making nearly 150 appearances for the Crosaibi club, and his patented free kicks netted him 21 goals. Despite winning the title in Season 15, Marine Coast slipped downward, and when long time boss Baron O'Toole left prior to Season 17, it was clear things would be changing at Marine World Park. Sala would accept an offer to play for newly crowned Turorian Champions Cednia Beach AFC, and made his first appearances for the team in the 6th NS Champions League tournament.

Tika Massa was thrust into the Vilitan Spotlight after netting on his debut performance in the Jurassic Invitational Tournament after coming on as a sub. Massa's late goal sent Vilita into the Semi Finals of the inagural Jurassic competition. Massa's performances earned him a transfer to the admitedly more high profile club of Eastal Lunar, from Makosile where he trained as a youth. Massa was an instant hit at Eastal lunar netting 7 times in 18 games and helping them to the Season 15 Vilitan Cup title. Massa' impressive performances for Eastal Lunar earned him a transfer to Marine Coast United where he netted a career high 8 goals in Season 17. With Marine Coast's form slipping, and Cednia Beach's stock rising, the Season 17 champions tabled a bid for the Vilitan Under 21 International and Massa made his first appearances for the Turorian Club during the 6th NS Champions League.

[ 47 ] Ippolit Adjei [ - Cednia Beach AFC (TUR) - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 25 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 5 REG: 1 )
Adjei moved to Arcticala Inlet during the Yeaddin Exodus following Season 12, the first in history that Yeaddin were not in the top 2. Adjei won many awards with Arcticala Inlet, but never the Stellar Division title, and he was recruited in Season 16 to the defending Stellar Division champions Marine Coast United for a fee half that of the Vilitan Record transfer at the time.

Slender Lead For Daii
Some Starblaydis Guaranteed of Final

It's nice when you can say 'Starblaydi players will be playing in the Champions' League Final'. Well, we just said it for the first time and it was quite nice for us.

Whether it's Iskara Daii (fingers crossed) or Cednia Beach (two fingers up and waved in the air), there is a guarantee that at least one Starblaydi will take the field to fight for the Champions' League.

Young Surachai Buathiang and popular veteran Stelios Doukas will be hoping that the Viltan Champions will be able to overturn the team who have just won the Tiberius Cup in Starblaydia, and are fighting for the Liga title right down to the wire.

"We have a slender lead, of course," Daii manager Tuade Lue said, "but, in this moment, we have the lead. This is a crucial fact and we can go on to keep the lead until the end of the second leg."

Whichever team makes it through, however, will more than likely have to deal with the Yeaddin Owls, winners of the fifth and sixth Champions League, pressing for three in a row and the right, surely, to call themselves the greatest club side in the world. Whether they would play the best team in Turorian or Starblaydi history, however, has yet to be decided.

[OOC: The Champions' League is taking place at the same time as Liga Starblaydia Season 4 (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Liga_Starblaydia_Season_4), timeline-wise for me.]

It's the Big One!
Yeaddin Versus Iskara

Now, don't get us wrong - we're completely biased in this matter - but this has to be one of the greatest clashes in the history of international club compeitions. But why do we make the hugely-subjective claim to fame for two of Atlantian Oceania's best teams?

First of all let's deal with Yeaddin. In the Vilitan Stellar Division - argueably the greatest league in the world - they've dominated from it's initial conception to this very day, and you don't continually challenge (and win, more often than not) the greatest domestic league in the world. Then, of course, comes the two consecutive Champions' League titles, something completely unprecedented. A team from Rejistania and, somehow - Gaian Ascendancy - have both fallen to the defending Champions in Finals and now Iskara Daii are trying to break that record in the Owls' third successive Final.

Now, onto the Daii. Iskara Daii are, quite simply, the greatest club in the history of Starblaydia. Being promoted from amateur status into the old Starblaydi Alpha Division for its first season was achievement enough, but soon they went on to dominate the league and their domination continued into the first few Liga Starblaydia seasons, until a shock-horror trophyless season last year. Now Iskara are coming off the back of a Domestic Cup win in Starblaydia's Tiberius Cup and are hoping to show their cup-form all the way to the end of this Final.

There are fewer more-famous club teams in the world today, or ever, in fact. Alan City in the very old days and Yuba United in the 'good old days', Karela Lines if only for the name perhaps. We asked some crazy historians about this kind of thing and they offered up these names: Prehistoric FC (Giant Zucchini) Real Libertad (Brazillico), Black-and-Red Army (Tanah Burung), Barcoenfuego (Kingsford) and Megalopolis City FC (Oglethorpia). We can't confirm their fame and quality, of course, except for the Kingsfordians who we were aware of once upon a time. The simple fact is, Yeaddin Owls AFC versus Iskara Daii FC in the Champions' League Final is perhaps the greatest clash in international club history. Simple when we put it like that, isn't it?

Four Starblaydis, three Vilitans, three Nova Britannicans and a Bedistani will take to the field to represent themselves and Starblaydia in the Final in Southampton, Chicanada. They'll even have a Vilitan wearing the Captain's armband. If that doesn't tell you something about the level of talent in the vilitan game, nothing will.

Do bear in mind, of course, that it has taken penalties for the Owls to win their Champions' League Titles, so if you can't beat them in normal or extra time, it's gonna be hard to do it in a shoot-out.

Grand Finals

Yeaddin Owls AFC 0

Iskara Daii 2

Congrats to Yeaddin for a great run, but more congrats to Iskara Daii on not only defeating yeaddin but winning the Champions Cup (which is a more solid looking version of the NSCL7 Logo).

So, now onto the next set of cups ;)

Campeone! Campeone! Ole, Ole, Ole!
Daii become new best team in the world

Two seasons ago, Iskara Daii fell at the penultimate hurdle in the Champions' League, falling in the Semi-Finals of Champions' League 5. In the 7th iteration, however, the Daii have come all the way to the Final. And who did they meet there? Why, only the two-time and defending Champions, the Yeaddin Owls - the greatest non-godmodded team in world history, Alan City take note.

Twelve Vilitans, Four Starblaydis, three Nova Britannicans, two Bedistanis and a Turorian took to the field in Southampton, Chicanada to decide whether the Champions' League title would go to Vilita and Yeaddin for a third consecutive occassion or to Starblaydia and Jhanna for the first time. The two most-dominant teams in the two most-important leagues in the world took to the field and lined up as follows, Yeaddin in their traditional gray, Iskara in their red:

Yeaddin Owls AFC Lineup (3-1-4-2)

15
Falcón

14 2 3
Ezis Laniora Hinds

16

8 6 4 7

Iskara Daii Lineup (3-4-3)

There were plenty of oppurtunities for star-spotting in the stands as any famous former Daii player you can name was sitting in the stands, not least of them Simeone Di Bradini, his brother Roberto, Rodriguez Da Silva, Ceri Salisbury, Ki-Jana Carter, Marco Del Blanco, Thanh Madray - the list goes on, reading like an all-time Starblaydi XI, never mind a Daii XI.

We now hand you over to Sven Motsonsson and Trefor Trefor, SCB:Sports' foremost commentary team for the key highlights:

31 minutes played...
"Vintilla coming forward, dispossessed by the Daii Captain. Ratuva comes away with it, plays a long ball up front - great ball, eal chance here! - Mbizdo, into the box, 'keeper's come out... he's squared for Darius Belizaiiiiiire! Goal! Iskara Daii take the lead in the Champions' League Final with half an hour played!

"Thirty-two year-old Darius Belizaire wheels away and sets off on a run down the touchline, firing up the crowd and receiving their praises, celebrating his goal which came at the end of a swift, neat counter -attack started by the Daii's Vilitan captain. I thought Carmine Mdizo might have tried a shot but he unselfishly set up the former Liga Starblaydia Golden Boot winner, Belizaire, to put the team from Starblaydia ahead against the defending champions. What a counter-attack, Trefor!"

83 minutes played...
"Iskara Daii are under incredible pressure here, what would you descirbe this formation as, Trefor?"

"Back-to-the-wall-Eight-One-One, Sven, they look like-"

"Indeed, but here's La Salle, sprinting out of his own half with the ball, on another counter-attack, the team behind surging forward in support. He's run sixty yards acorss the pitch, there's just one target for him in the centre, right-foot cross, Mbizdo with the header! Oh! Excellent save by Falcón, but here's Raphaelo on the follow up- Over the bar! The referee's signalled a corner kick? It was deflected off Laniora.

"Bentley to take the corner, its... punched by Falcón, but falls to Laberge, with the driiiive! It's there! Rueben Laberge has scored and the Daii fans have gone absolutely crazy! From twenty-five yards he smashed it into the top corner of the net on the half-volley, and he's been mobbed by Iskara players."

"I think he's under that pile of bodies by the corner, flag, Sven."

"He certainly is, Trefor. Surely, surely that has sealed it for Iskara Daii, they're two-nil up now with around five minutes of normal time left to play. They've withstood the Yeaddin pressure for so long in this second half, and now the Owls need two goals in five minutes - and that's just to take it to Extra Time!"

Final Score from Southampton:
Yeaddin Owls 0 - 2 Iskara Daii
(None) - (Belizaire 32, Laberge 84)
