It's that time again...the time that all of you sit mindlessly in front of your computer, waiting until the next update to be posted by perhaps the most glorious poster in the history of the Internet...the time when the lot of you lie awake in bed, too scared to close your eyes in fear of my words, and the words of my co-writers, to come alive, haunting you in your dreams...the time...of the newest Realm of the Risen, the original horror RP of NationStates.

First to answer some questions...yes I was talking about me...yes I have a large ego...no I don't really take myself that seriously...and no...the newest RotR RP isn't coming soon per se. This last part will be due to the upcoming trilogy, Messiah, which will be headed by myself and co-writen by Tappee and New Genoa. Still, as the excellent RP, Realm of the Risen II: Angel's Holocaust (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=7827049) is winding down, (and no...that's not me being egotistical) there will be a gap for all five of you who care.

Because of this, I am at a crossroads, and the greedy bastard I am, I'm taking both paths. While the three Messiah threads are going on, I will be leading a solo effort, writing my own RotR for once. This will be sort of a side-story, but it will also contain a much revered, and updated, backstory of NiMBUS and some of the key players who died in my Civil War. (Reference the Archives.)

That being said, the third RotR presents a problem. NiMBUS, the "evil" corporation behind it all, was destroyed in my Civil War. The secret research facility on Procul, (Tappee-owned city) the only place left after the purge, is currently burning to the ground and it's hardly a spoiler to say that it will be gone by the time RotRII comes to a close. I have a good, interesting, direction for my side-story, but while I had thought about using it for RotRIII, it just wouldn't have meshed together as well. RotR has always been about squad-interactions, and the one main character of the side-story would defeat that notion.

What I need are people, whether they're outside of Tappee and New Genoa or simply the usual triad of us three, to help me develop the story of RotRIII, or at least throw out ideas for me to turn down/laugh at/steal/make fun of/etc, lol. Anyone up for the challenge?

Well in term of the actual virus itself this is how I see it.

Assuming that the ALL of NiMbus (including Procol) then the only remaining Virus sample is with Emily.

Naturally of course in the interest of maintain Steel and Tappee relations a sample will be handed over. However, it just mean that the only remaining sample are now in government control.

Well you do have to remember the other people who are living samples. Alexei, Leon Williams, Gabriel, Tess, Raiden now with the bite, etc.

This is what I have so far...but I'll have to give some backstory because even Tappee may not know all of this.

While I had always been a space nation, in order to interact with everyone else I made an earth colony (in the moscow-st. petersburg area) a little less than a month after I registered on NationStates. Now, as time passed and like five other earths were "made" I got tired of it all and made a huge disaster RP so that I could leave earth and only RP in the Orion Sector. This RP was the outbreak of a horrible virus...the Q virus. In addition, there was a nuclear war that took place, known to old time NSers as the Omnicaust. It happened after terrorists nuked the capital of Steel Earth.

In RotRIII, for some reason, a group of people goes back to the old colony of Steel Earth that was ravaged by viral outbreak years ago. There, they find evidence of the emergence, and disappearance, of some sort of tribal culture in the mess left behind by the Imperial Colonists. One thing leads to another, and the people realize they aren't allowed to leave due to the threat of contamination. Their only hope is to find out how a culture survived in such a horrible place and also why they no longer exist. Only then can they prove that they are not a threat. However, a dark presence exists within the colony, feeding off the fears of team, as well as fueling their desires.

Ok then, back in the days and years before the civil war, NiMBUS Biotechnologies would test a new virus in an unsuspecting city and then normally destroy the city and any evidence of what they were doing. The city of Tatania, in Tappee, was no different. A part of the city was infected, and then NiMBUS used a magnetic-based weapon to destroy the infection. However, due to the fact that Tappee's geographic nature was different than that of the Empire, the weapon created a massive magnetic pulse which caused tremendous earthquakes, literally sinking the city into the ground and infecting everyone.

Reacting to a distress call, a multi-nation team drops down on Tatania and is massacred right off the bat. Ultimately, the find themselves in a NiMBUS building, fighting NiMBUS agents and zombies alike. A former colleague, who died, turns bad and comes back, and the head of NiMBUS himself haunts the team in holographic form. As the governments of Tappee and Steel Butterfly plan to nuke the city to clean up the mess, the surivors must find a way out. They do, and are rescued by the Resistance right before Tatania is destroyed, and the Resistance and Tappee uses Tatania as the final straw leading towards a massive Orion Civil War.

So...the Original RotR was a stepping stone towards the Civil War, much like RotRII will lead into Messiah. Both Alexei Ivanova and Emily Williams, huge characters for both myself and Tappee, were introduced in RotR, as well as James Pierce, Henry Kobe, Dave Bivens, NiMBUS CEO Dr. Ackerman, and some others.

This might be something I could be involved in...

Anyhow...all I'm (we're) looking for right now is interest. This isn't going to happen any time soon.

So ya... sorry 'bout that whole MIA thing, but like I said, he didn't do much, and not like he mattered, at least he was more interesting then Mr. Military in the first one (but then again thats what it called for...)

Ok, I think now would be a good time to release some more information regarding Realm of the Risen: Black the sidestory/backstory thread I'll be writing solo while the Messiah trilogy is being written.

This is essentially a two-part story, the hard part of it being that there is little to no tie-in between the two.

The backstory part consists of a much-needed updated version of how NiMBUS began. With the changes in storyline over the years (literally) some of the "notes" found in my first solo story (check the archives) are somewhat conflicting with what has come to be cannon in the world of Steel Butterfly. This details NiMBUS Biotechnologies, and it's two co-founders, the infamous Dr. Robert Ackerman and the famed Dr. Stephen Pachel (also known as Leon Williams and Alec Caine), throughout their time together at NiMBUS. It goes from the foundation of the corporation to Dr. Ackerman's takeover, and Dr. Pachel's eventual departure and seclusion.

The current part is the story of a teenage boy growing up on the planet of Steel Butterfly in the aftermath of the Orion Civil War. As the city is rebuilt around him, the main character faces friendship, love, betrayal, loss, as well as the realization that the shattered memories within his head are not his, but those of another being entirely. The main character finally fulfills his purpose at a critical point, yet what happens next will not only shape how he lives his life, but the sector itself.

In addition, and this update is basically for Tappee and New Genoa, I have begun writing Messiah, and I advise them to check the boards.

I don't think I should have to say this...but because of everything that's happened...

I'm not holding back with this story in its detail and scope, just like I've never held back in the past. Realm of the Risen has always pushed the envelope on what is acceptable or not in terms of violence and gore and it will continue to do so as it pertains to the story.

It is not gratuitous violence and neither is there a need for sex in this, as it doesn't fit the story. I don't go out of my way to be violent or gory, but when you're dealing with this kind of subject matter it's only natural.

Realm of the Risen III: Underworld's Ascension will go off as planned as soon as I finish tweaking the original post, and it will carry the same warning "sticker" that they always do, however as to not draw attention to the thread there will be no "R" rating associated with it.

In addition, a slightly altered version of Realm of the Risen: Black will be reposted shortly. It is slightly altered because I wanted to take it in a new direction. I am not giving into this mod-established childish stupidity and I am fully aware of the consequences that may occur, however with the exclusion of the rape detail, there should be nothing to complain about.

Personally I think that's worse that I cannot rate it in fear of someone with an obscenely high moral high ground, because I don't think that little kids should read some of the stuff I write, and now they or their parents have less of a idea of what will be coming up in my story if they are browsing the forums, but that's the corner that NationStates has backed me into.

Realm of the Risen, or any story I write, will not be censored to suit theoretical schoolteachers and a book author who suddenly found a conscience. As with all my stories, the plot drives it entirely, and whatever the plot calls for, the story will receive.
