I was writing this in a rush. Thanks for the precision :p
The inaugural Bettian League of Gridiron has kicked off after much antiicipation. The Bettian League Of Gridiron (BLOG) is a national American Football league contested between teams within Bettia. The league is divided into four conferences (North, South, East and West), with 16 teams battling it out for the AroraBowl.
(matches are scorinated using a slightly modified version of Starblaydia's Rugby Scorinator)
The teams are:
Northern Conference:
Porthbalfa Blazers
Pen-y-Bydd Reapers
Ceffinton Turbos
Huwbridge Swifts
Southern Conference:
Akani Sands Destroyers
Lorshill Lions
Downton Eagles
Whitchurch Cannons
Eastern Conference:
Grappenhall Grapplers
Spiddaford Spiders
Kirkwood Rangers
Gabalfa Gasheads
Western Conference:
Sukatra Sabres
Subarnas Volcanos
Tamrida Warriors
Fiilghud Chargers
Each team plays each other once during the regular season. Each team is awared three points for a win, one point for a draw and nothing for a defeat. In addition, bonus points are awarded for the following: -
Scoring four touchdowns in one match - 1 point
Scoring six touchdowns - 2 points (total)
Shut-outs (i.e. conceding no points in a single match) - 1 point
Twenty point margin of victory - 1 point
Therefore, the maximum number of points available for any one match would be seven (three for the win, two for scoring six touchdowns, one for a shut-out and one for winning by more than twenty points). This feat has already been achieved, when Akani Sands beat Whitchurch 59-0 on matchday 3.
The four teams finishing first and second in their groups progress to the knockout stages, with the top teams having home advantage. The knockout stages continue using random draws until two teams are left to contest the Arora Bowl final, which this year is staged in Bettia's national stadium, the Stadiwm Bettia.
The story so far...
Four rounds of matches have been played so far, and it is the Western Conference which has started the strongest. It's top two teams, the Subarnas Volcanos and Sukatra Sabres are the only teams with 100% records, with the Fiilghud Chargers following close behind.
Other front runners are the Akani Sands Destroyers (currently topping the Southern Conference) and the Porthbalfa Blazers, who seem to be running away with the Northern Conference.
At the other end, two teams are still awaiting their first points, the Huwbridge Swifts and the Spiddaford Spiders. The Whitchurch Cannons would have shared this unwelcome record were it not for their last-gasp 9-9 draw with Ceffinton.

BLOG - Half Time Report
Eight out of sixteen group stage matchdays have been played, and already a number of club are rising above the rest.
Leading the points tally are the Sukatra Sabres and Subarnas Volcanos, both battling it out for the Western Conference title. The Volcanos have the best attack in the league so far which saw them record a massive 82-21 win over Pen-y-Bydd on matchday 4. Following close behind are the Fiilghud Chargers by virtue of the meanest defence in the league, having conceded just 77 points so far. Bringing up the rear are the Tamrida Warriors on 14 points.
The race for the Northern Conference is seemingly over already, as the Porthbalfa Blazers enjoy a 16-point advantage over their nearest rivals, the Ceffinton Turbos. The two other teams, the Huwbridge Swifts and the Pen-y-Bydd Reapers, have only managed one win apiece.
The Eastern Conference is by far the tightest, with just two points spearating the top three teams. Sitting at the top are the Kirkwood Rangers, with the Grappenhall Grapplers just one point behind. Following them are pre-season favourites the Gabalaf Gasheads, who are enduring a somewhat inconsistant season although things are looking up courtesy of their impressive 20-9 win over Porthbalfa. Propping up the table are the Spiddaford Spiders, who have managed just one win.
The Southern Conference is turning into a neck-and-neck battle between the Downton Eagles and the Akani Sands Destroyers. Both teams are proving to be danegrous opponents, and are only seperated on points difference. Coming in third are the Lorshill Lions, whilst the Whitchurch Cannons find themselves bottom of the table having only just ended their winless streak.

BLOG News
The BLOG has confirmed that the Vimesbairn Vild Dogs' application to join the league has been accepted. They will replace the Spiddaford Spiders in the Eastern Conference when the new season starts (whenever that is), on account of Cockbill Street being located to the east of Bettia, and Spiddaford being rather crap (just like their attendance figures).
The group stages of the 1st BLOG are now drawing to a close - a summary will appear here and on the Wiki next week.
BLOG News
After fifteen gruelling matchdays, the top two teams in each conference now face up to each other to decide who will contest AroraBowl I.
The draw for the quarter-finals is:
Porthbalfa Blazers vs Kirkwood Rangers
Gabalfa Gasheads vs Downton Eagles
Akani Sands Destroyers vs Sukatra Sabres
Subarnas Volcanoes vs Ceffinton Turbos
The tie of the round looks to be Akani Sands vs Sukatra - two of the best teams in the league square up to each other in a matchup some pundits feel would grace the final.
The group stages have seen some teams rise high above the rest, and with that in mind the following awards have been made.
The Top Of The Heap award for the Highest Points total - Subarnas, notching up an impressive 48 points, including 9 bonus points.
The You're Shit And You Know You Are award for the Lowest Points total - Spiddaford, who scored a measly 4 points. Hopelessly outclassed, and won't be missed next season when they are replaced by Vimesbairn.
The We Outweigh Nuclear Arms award for the Best Attack - Subarnas, who at times were rampant scoring a total of 445 points in their games.
The As Strong As An Ant's Fart award for the Worst Attack - Spiddaford, scoring a measly 163 points in their 15 games.
The Get Out And Stay Out award for the Best Defence - Fiilghud, their rock-solid defence let slip just 143 points.
The That's A Nasty Leak for the Worst Defence - Whitchurch, conceding more than 40 points on seven occasions on their way to leaking a total of 521 points.
The Come And Have A Go If You Think You're Hard Enough for the Best Home Record - Subarnas, boasting a 7-0-0 home record, the only team with 100%.
The You're Supposed To Be At Home award for the Worst Home Record - Lorshill, their 1-0-7 home record was suprisingly crap for a mid-table team, especially when looked at in contrast with their 5-0-1 away record.
The That's A Right Proper Thrashing for the Biggest Win - Sukatra, for their 94-12 thumping of Ceffinton on matchday 6.
The Oooh, Unlucky for the Unluckiest Team - Fiilghud, even though they scored more points than all but three teams in the entire league, they failed to qualify for the playoffs simply because they had to contend with two of the top teams in the same group. Better luck next time.
As usual, full scores and tables can be found on the BLOG Wiki (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Bettian_League_Of_Gridiron)
AroraBowl Fever!
AroraBowl fever hit Bettia last weekend as the Subarnas Volcanoes squared off against the Akani Sands Destroyers for the right to be crowned the inaugural champions of Bettian Gridiron.
The two sides had been by far the leading contenders for the title, both winning their respective conferences. In the quarter-final, Akani Sands squared off against a strong Sukatra Sabres side and came out on top after a bruising, hard-fought battle. Subarnas had things rather easier, cruising to a 45-7 victory against the Ceffinton Turbos.
The semi-finals saw both teams playing away. The Destroyers travelled to Northern Conference champs Porthbalfa, coming away with a 17-6 win. Subarnas had a tougher proposition against the Gabalfa Gasheads, but managed a somewhat confortable 28-14 win.
And so to the final, played at Gablfa's Stadiwm Bettia. There was a great deal of pride and honour at stake, and so quite understandably this match started as quite a nervy affair. However, as the two teams settled down, they started to play the top-rate gridiron that they had exhibited all season long. This was an even, nip-and-tuck match right up until the final two minutes when the Volcanoes scored the decisive touchdown courtesy of star Quarterback Geraint Al-Shahaf's jinking solo run.
Despite the Destroyers throwing everything they could, Subarnas held on to claim AroraBowl I for themselves, sparking scenes of wil celebration amoungst the players, staff and the thousands of fans who made the journey from the small industrial town.
Final score:
Akani Sands 10-17 Subarnas

The Oliverrian Football League kickoffs its season
Today, the OFL introduced to Oliverry one of their beloved sport. The only one that doesn't have any league, the American Football. A press conference was hold earlier to announce the creation of the OFL, or, if you prefer, the rebirth of the league. After 30 year without a league, Oliverry will have a league. The staff announced that 14 teams will start the season. These 14 teams will be split in 2 divisions: North and South. Here are the teams:
South Division:
Marshalliston Cheese Olympians
Oliver City Clowns
Saint-Francois Chiefs
Santa-Jeanne Espagnols
Tastragnant Français
Perpignant Fury
Limognon Police
North Division:
Kingston Fire
Pere-Durant Religieux
Villeroy Normans
Joyville Gladiateurs
Saint-Laurier Dragons
Capital Pharahons
St. Jean Routiers
Each team will play 12 games: 2 games against each team of their division. The top 4 from each division will go to the playoff. The schedule will feature 14 weeks + 3 weeks of playoff, for a total of 17 weeks. Each team will have 2 byes to rest and comeback at full pace.
West Pacific
31-08-2005, 04:16
This is the first year of the Horizon Football League in West Pacific. It has combined the best teams from what were six different leagues who all played on the same level and has made this the highest paid and most difficult league in the nation. Only the best make it this far and thanks to a very strict substance abuse policy they are all pure athletes. The league will consists of 16 teams split into two conferences which are further split into two divisions. The season is 15 weeks long with three byes so each team will play 12 games. Two each against their divisional rivals, three against teams from their conference, and three against teams from their opposite conference. The conferences are as follows:
Great West Conference
Northern Division
West Pacific City Senators - The Senators have always dominated every league they have played in during the regular season but have consistently failed to win the title game. With their new 210,000 set stadium in the Capital and the President himself a regular at the home games they will be very tought to beat at home.
Brandon Bulldogs - The Bulldogs rely heavily on their power running game, on the legs of Jeremiah Smith and Dominique Hanz that they ran away with three of the last five Western League championships.
Singleton Screamin Eagles - With their All-pro line up of wide outs and a quarterback how can put the ball on a dime from 60 yards the Eagles will be one of the most exciting teams to watch in the league.
Europa Red Tide - The Red Tide are led by the four best linemen in the country, any team is lucky to get 40 yards rushing against them in one game. The week four match up between the Red Tide and Brandon Bulldogs is expected to be the most widely watched game in the history of West Pacific football, an estimed 1.8 billion viewers will watch these two teams square off.
Southern Division
Parkston Thundering Herd - The Thundering Herd are the new kids on the block, only five years ago the team was formed and they have since powered their way to the number three spot in the Northern League. Not much is expected of this team but they could pull off an upset somewhere along the way.
East Fairfield Lions - The Lions are a good all around team, nothing spectacular on either side of the ball, but somehow they have managed to win a record 17 titles over the last 25 years in the Southern League. This team is second to the Senators in their odds to win the title.
Winchester Flyers - The Flyers are an offensive power not rivaled any league. They were the first to use a six wide receiver set, an unprecedented move which perplexed defensive coordinators for many years.
Woodmont Mustangs - The Mustangs are another defensive power, the best Linebackers in the nation on one team, they can blitz the quarterback, go head to head with the best offensive linemen in the nation and drop back to cover the pass.
Far East Conference
Northern Division
Bonesteel Bucks - The Bucks have been picked by almost all the national polls to finish last in the league. They have a lack of depth and the quarterback whom they had built this team around recently tested positive for several banned substances, including a low grade beaver tranquilizer.
Grand Rapids Cobras - The Cobras are a mid level team in this league, despite dominating their previous league their lack of size up front means that most teams will be able to consistently run the ball right down the middle. The plus for this team is that they are arguably the fastest team in the league, their pass coverage may be spotty but with their speedy safety's don't expects many plays to go more than 40 yards.
Alexandria Red Raiders - The Raiders have been picked to win this division, which is arguably the weakest in the league, with ease, most likely locking up their playoff spot weeks before the season ends.
Fairbank Musketeers
Southern Division
Corsica Corsairs - The Corsairs are the only team in this league who still use the option but they make the most of it. Their quarterbacks over the last eight seasons have averaged 60 yards rushing and 240 yards passing against defenses that always stack up on line backers to try and take away the outside runs. This time should be fun to watch and remind us of the days before the 3-4 defense when the team that could run the ball would win it all.
Manchester Wolverines - The Wolverines dominated their league for the last half century, compiling 19 League Championships and an impressive 92% win percentage.
Silver City Chiefs - The Chiefs use the power running game to win low scoring games. Averaging four yards per play and 40+ minutes T.O.P per game the Chiefs will simply wear down their opponent.
Iowa City Hawkeyes - The Hawkeyes have the nations strongest Defensive Backfield with three all pro DB's and arguably the most talented duo of line backers in the nation. The offense led by third year QB Damien Wood is however rather sketchy. Their running backs have been plagued by injuries and their all-pro wide out retired after only seven years playing professional football after the previous season. The rivalry between the Hawkeyes and Wolverines is one of the oldest in the nation, 113 games have been played between these two teams and the Hawkeyes have won 60 of these meetings versus the Wolverines 53. The Hawkeyes are a slim favorite to win this division and the conference if they can put away those pesky Wolverines.
New Montreal States
31-08-2005, 04:48
NMFL SEASON 1 STARTS
New Montreal - Anglos everywhere are rejoicing as the NMFL season kicks off. "Gridiron" football is very much an Anglo game in NMS, with only two majority-french teams as the league starts play. Herewith, a prediction table:
COASTAL CONFERENCE
New Montreal Patriotes - The French owned team with an all-pure-laine lineup will struggle against more experienced teams and will probably plummet to the bottom of the heap in short order. They will play at Eveque Field, which will probably sell out regularly, giving them a sizeable homefield advantage.
St James War Eagles - The 'Eagles will go as far as their defense will take them, which puts them as early favorites for the championship. It will take multiple injuries to slow their defensive juggernaut, so with any luck they'll be taking the Paladin Bowl back to St. James Pitch.
New Montreal Rangers - The "Anglo" team in New Montreal has an up-and-coming offense behind quarterback Zach Taylor. It promises to be a long season for the Rangers, since they'll be spending home games in a mostly empty Paladin Dome.
Philemon Knights - This placid, rainy city along Imperial Bay has assembled a placid team that will be going nowhere fast. Expect low turnout at Bennet Fieldhouse as the Knights drop game after game to more talented opponents.
INLAND CONFERENCE
Valdemont Barons - The Barons have a raw but talented offense that will be entertaining if nothing else. Expect wildly fluctuating results as the Barons grab the third or fourth playoff spot by the skin of their teeth. Valdemont will be playing at Acadien High's field, and expect visiting teams to have a rough time of it.
Angiers Habitants - Unlike the Patriotes, Angiers owner Claude Labelle has no qualms about hiring Anglos to play for him, and the Habs will probably face St. James in the final game behind Oliverian quarterback Tracy Plessis. Angiers will be using the massive Southern Coliseum, and won't even come close to filling it up.
Sorel Beavers - As if the ridiculous-looking mascot wasn't laughable enough, Sorel will be playing in Mitchellville on Bigtopia until the current IN invasion is repelled. The Beavers will drop faster than Enron stock and are a strong contender to go 0-6.
Lanaudiere Lynx - It's anyone's guess how their original 3-2-2-4 defensive scheme will work. Their entire season will hinge on its success or failure, as will attendance at Lanaudiere Stadium. If they can fill a stadium of 40,000 people based on their performance on their first two road games, a playoff spot will follow in short order.

Oliverrian Football League rules:
On the field:
- NFL Rules
- CFL field
- 5 yard immunity zone when a kickoff or a punt return
Out of the field:
- Games always have a winner and a loser
- To ensure that it happens, the OFL put 2 new sections in their standings: OT Wins and OT Losses. If you take into account that a win means 1,000 average and a loss means 0,000, then, a OT win equals to 0,750 and a OT Loss to 0,250. This is to ensure more competitivity in the league
Ok, now time to describe the four firsts week of activity in the league:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/Oli55/oflweek1scores.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/Oli55/oflweek2scores.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/Oli55/oflweek3scores.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/Oli55/oflweek4scores.jpg
So, for now, no team are assured to make the playoffs. In the North Division, the new standing rules seem to make more effect than in the South. And, strangely enough, the last team in each section also has scored and allowed more than 100 points. We seem to see a very big tendancy presently, as North Division seems to be more offensive than the South One, creating a little conflict. Let's hope that we will not see the side effect of this in the finals...
The trophy given to the champions now have a name
After 30 years, we lost the original trophy. So, the league has to create a new one. And this tophy didn't have any name yet. A contest was organised in all the cities that the OFL is in and the trophy now has a name. The name of the trophy will be the King Oliver Bowl.
West Pacific
07-09-2005, 07:36
After the first six weeks the conference standings are as followed:
Great West Conference
Northern Division: Wins Losses
West Pacific Senators 5 1
Europa Red Tide 4 1
Brandon Bulldogs 3 2
Singleton Screamin Eagles 1 5
Southern Division: Wins Losses
Parkston Thunderin Herd 3 2
East Fairfield Lions 3 3
Woodmont Mustangs 1 4
Winchester Flyers 1 4
Far East Conference
Nothern Division: Wins Losses
Alexandria Red Raiders 4 1
Grand Rapids Cobras 4 2
Bonesteel Bucks 2 3
Fairbank Musketeers 0 5
Southern Division: Wins Losses
Iowa City Hawkeyes 5 0
Manchester Wolverines 4 1
Corsica Corsairs 1 5
Silver City Chiefs 1 4
The biggest surprise thus far has got to be Parkston's win over the West Pacific Senators in week three. The match between the Brandon Bulldogs and Europa Red Tide only drew 1.4 billion viewers, falling well short of the estimated 1.8 billion. The record was however set last week when 1.9 billion people tuned in to watch the undefeated Manchester Wolverines take on the also undefeated Iowa City Hawkeyes at Iowa City. The Hawkeyes ultimately won by a score of 42-37 on a long pass as time expired in the fourth quarter.

So, now, we're at mid-season break. Something surprizing in Division Sud: 5 teams are tied at ,500. The positions in this case are decided like this: Number of victories in regulation, point differential, number of point scored. The Limognon Police will surely win the Division Sud regular season, but nothing is decided yet. Even if this team is 1,75 games ahead the second position team with 4-1-1-0, nothing's decided, as every team has to face the other teams another time. In Division Nord, the case is completely different. Two teams share the lead with a 4-2-0-0 standing, so in this division, everything is still possible.
Here are the final standings according to the bidders for this season:
Division Sud:
1. Limognon
2. Perpignant
3. Marshalliston
4. Oliver city
5. Saint-Francois
6. Tastragnant
7. Santa Jeanne
Division Nord:
1. Joyville
2. Saint-Laurier
3. Villeroy
4. Kingston
5. Capital
6. Pere Durant
7. Saint-Jean

After 20 years of absence, a professional football league is back in Oliverry!! The Oliverrian Football League is now back, thanks to many fans. 12 teams participated in the first season of that new league (2030). Let's check the results:
Season:
Pos. Team W L T Ave. GF GA GD
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Mont-Olive Renegades 8 3 0 0,727 316 246 70
2. Kingston Monarchs 8 3 0 0,727 241 177 64
3. Ville-Royale Royaux 7 4 0 0,636 309 248 61
4. Trenton Titans 7 4 0 0,636 263 247 16
5. Oliver City Olive Bowls 7 4 0 0,636 258 188 70
6. Ennemy City Generals 6 5 0 0,545 317 322 -5
7. Communiste Rouges 6 5 0 0,545 245 279 -34
8. Marshalliston Lions 5 6 0 0,455 242 224 18

10. Rubbermade Eagles 4 7 0 0,364 177 240 -63
11. Lexington Hills Bears 3 8 0 0,273 189 247 -58
12. Saint-François Anges 1 10 0 0,091 188 316 -128
The top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs. The Renegades finished first in the league, thanks to many scory games. Kingston finished 2nd. Les Rouges finished 7th after playing too communistely (giving points equally to everyone). The Marshalliston Lions finished at the last playoff spot available with the only under ,500 average of those qualified. The biggest upset comes from Saint-François, where the Anges finished last with only a win, that they got at their first game.
Playoffs:
The 8 qualified teams will now play in one-game playoff rounds. The winner advances to the semis, then to the final of the Northern Bowl, the emblem of Oliverrian Gridiron.
Quarterfinals:
(1) Mont-Olive Renegades 33 - 42 (8) Marshalliston Lions
(2) Kingston Monarchs 20 - 5 (7) Communiste Rouges
(3) Ville-Royale Royaux 41 - 17 (6) Ennemy City Generals
(4) Trenton Titans 21 - 14 (5) Oliver City Olive Bowls
It's surprizingly that the Marshalliston Lions, ranked 8th won against the regular season champions, the Mont-Olive Renegades. The other games were not upsetty at all, excepted for the game opposing the Monarchs to the Rouges, as the Monarchs won with two late touchdowns in the last 4 minutes of the game.
Semi-Finals:
(8) Marshalliston Lions 3 - 6 (3) Ville-Royale Royaux
(2) Kingston Monarchs 4 - 20 (4) Trenton Titans
Upsets in both matches. The Royaux won that game on the last play (The OFL requires the match to finish on a last play, even if the clock is at 0:00), where the kicker Jonathan McGuire kicked the ball from the 30 metres mark between the two posts to ensure a win. The Trenton Titans completely dominated their opponents, as they were able to make them give away 2 safeties, ensuring the Titans to win the game 20-4.
Northern Bowl I Final:
(3) Ville-Royale Royaux 10 - 44 (4) Trenton Titans
The Titans completely dominated the 3 last quarter. In the first quarter, the Royaux scored a touchdown and was leading 7-0 after the quarter. After the half, it was 21-7 for the Titans. In the 3rd quarter, the Royaux allowed two rouges, so it was 37-7 after 3 quarters. In the last quarter, the Royaux were able to score a field goal. But, the Titans scored a last touchdown, ensuring them to win 44-10 and win the first edition of the Northern Bowl.

BLOG 2
As well as the domestic soccer season, the second Bettian League of Gridball (BLOG) has also begun, with the Subarnas Volcanos looking to retain the Arora Bowl they won in such thrilling circumstances. As usual, the 16 teams are divided into four regional conferences, with every team playing each other twice, home and away. Two points are scored for a win and one for a draw, with points scored used as the first criterion, followed by points for then points difference. The top two teams from each conference then compete in two-legged playoffs before the remaining two teams compete in the Arora Bowl at Bettia's national stadium, Tiddles Park.
The only new team to compete are the Ryoga Bay Pirates, who replace the now-defunct Spiddaford Spiders in the Eastern Conference. The Swifts are now competing under the slightly more fearsome banner of the Huwbridge Hammers, whilst the team from Whitchurch are now known as the Bettialis Blasters.
Although no-one has looked as though they are about to run away with the league, one or two teams seem to be emerging as strong contenders at the ten-point mark. In the Northern Conference, the Hammers have hammered out a two-point advantage at the top, with the Porthbalfa Blazers nipping at their heels. Things are even tighter in the Southern Conference, where the Downton Eagles hold a slender one-point advantage over Ryoga Bay. Incredibly, things are even tighter in the Eastern Conference, with Bettialis and Gabalfa seperated only by the Blasters' far superior offence. In the Western Conference, the Tamrida Warriors lead the entire competition with a 7-0-3 record as well as the best offence. The Fiilghud Chargers and Subarnas Volcanos are vying for second place in what once again seems to be the strongest of the four regions.

BLOG 2 - the midway-ish point
At the 20-game point, the second Bettian League of Gridball (BLOG) is shaping up to a be a very close battle between a number of teams who have emerged as front-runners, although the group stage is far from being done and dusted with no team boasting an outstanding record in the competition so far.
The main action appears to be in the Southern Conference, which contains two of the top three ranked teams. The Ryoga Bay Pirates have been consistantly high scorers both at home and away, as well as being rather tight in defence. They are closely followed by the Downton Eagles, with Akani Sands three points behind despite their seeming inability to score a great number of touchdowns, a factor which is making their challenge to repeat their appearance in AroraBowl I more and more difficult.
Last season, the Northern Conference teams struggled badly but this time they have much more consistant, proved by the fact that the four teams are separated by just three points. Eding out on top are the Ceffinton Turbos, another team who are doing well despite leaking more points than they are scoring. The conference's top scorers Porthbalfa Blazers are close behind, with Huwbridge and Pen-y-Bydd bringing up the rear.
The Eastern Conference sees two teams, the Kirkwood Krushers and the Bettialis Blasters, tied at the top with only points difference seperating them, with Grappenhall still in contention despite shipping well over 600 points so far this season.
The Westner Conference, which last season proved to be the strongest overall, is shaping up to be rather interesting. The Tamrida Warriors are currently enjoying a healthy three point margin at the top, with this seasn's draw-specialists Fiilghud Chargers occupying second place. Subarnas Volcanos, the reigning AroraBowl champions, had an awful start to the season, but their form has picked up dramatically and they are now right back in contention, whilst the Sukatra Sabres, who were so strong last time round, are having a miserable time of it this season and are all but dead and buried.
So, with ten more games to go in the regular season and with eight playoff spots up for grabs, there's still plenty to play for in the Bettian League of Gridball.

BLOG 2 - it's playoff time!
The group stages are over, but the final third of the regular season still managed to throw up one or two surprises, most notably the final outcome of the Northern Conference. Thanks to a sparkling late run, the Huwbridge Hammers came from the foot of the table and almost certain mediocrity to finish top, a good four points ahead of Porthbalfa. On the flipside, Ceffinton endured a torrid end, winning only two out of their last ten games.
Another surprise package emerged from the Southern Conference in the shape of the Downton Eagles, who ended up as the best performing team in the entire league. They finished four points clear of early pacesetters Ryoga Bay, who went through a bit of a slump and only qualified ahead of last-season's runners-up Akani Sands by virtue of their far superior points difference.
The Eastern Conference turned out to be both the tightest and the most average, with all four teams finishing in the bottom half of the overall table. The eventual winners were the Kirkwood Krushers, who finished two points ahead of Bettialis. Last season's semi-finalists Gabalfa finished bottom despite a late rally.
Just like last season, the strongest conference overall was the Western Conference which was won by the reigning champions Subarnas Volcanos, who put in some strong performances in the final third of the regular season whilst the previous group leaders Tamrida were beginning to falter. Luckily for their supporters, the Warrior put in a late spurt to finish one point ahead of Fiilghud whilst Sukatra, who were such a strong team last season, trailed in miles behind to finish as the worst performing team in the country.

BLOG 2 - the Eagles Fly High
Another intense season of Gridiron has been completed here in Bettia, and the AroraBowl trophy has a new holder.
The playoff quarter-finals saw the four divisional winners rewarded with home field advantage, and on the whole they made full use of this. The Huwbridge Hammers hosted newcomers Ryoga Bay Pirates and the two teams fought out a tight and exciting matchup, with a last minute touchdown making all the difference as the Hammers ran out winners by 48 points to 44.
The second playoff match saw the impressive Downton Eagles playing at home to the Bettialis Blasters, and the hosts had no troubles in dispatching their visitors 33-7. Perhaps the best performance of the day came at Kirkwood, as the Tamrida Warriors shut their opponents out, recording a 17-0 victory. In the last quarter-final, the reigning holders Subarnas Volcanos shows us why they are the champions by crushing the Porthbalfa Blazers 63-28.
From there on in, all matches were played on neutral territory. The first semi-final was played at Butetown's Alice Street, a stadium more commonly associated with football, and was fought out between the Huwbridge Hammers and the Downton Eagles. This game was certainly a tight encounter, but with the scoreline at 23-21 to the Hammers with just three minutes to go, the Eagles grabbed two late touchdowns (including an interception) to finish the game 35-23 to the good.
Their opponents in the final would be the winner of the all-Western conference matchup between the Tamrida Warriors and the Subarnas Volcanos. Buoyed on by the prospect of defending their title, the Volcanos ran out comfortable winners by a clear twenty-point margin.
And so Bettia's national stadium played host to AroraBowl II, with the Volcanos ever-hopeful of repeating their epic victory in the first final. Those hopes were immediately dealt a cruel blow as the Eagles ran in a touchdown on their first attacking drive. Although Subarnas rallied briefly in the second quarter, the Eagles never really looked back as they ran in a further five touchdowns to claim a 42-10 win.
As the Eagles got their hands on the trophy, the BLOG announced that the next season would see a massive expansion - the number of teams competing in BLOG 3 will double in size to 32 competing in two conferences, and will include a number of teams from neighbouring Northern Bettia.

As announced at the end of BLOG 2, the league has expanded to 32 teams; the 16 who competed for BLOG 2, plus 16 new teams including four from Northern Bettia. The teams have been divided into two conferences; the Gwladol Football Conference (GFC) and the Bettian Football Conference (BFC), each of which is divided into four regionally-divided divisions of four teams. CENTRALIA (1-0) 13, North Charlotte (0-1) 3
PORTSMOUTH (1-0) 28, Rushville (0-1) 7
FAIRFIELD CITY (1-0) 13, Olympia (0-1) 9
Putnam Lake (1-0) 27, SPRINGFIELD (0-1) 24 (OT)
SEMINOLE BAY (1-0) 20, Riverside (0-1) 3
LOUDON (1-0) 23, Hampton (0-1) 0
TUNDRA FALLS (1-0) 48, Brighton (0-1) 6
HASTINGS (1-0) 17, Daytopia (0-1) 16
Dover City (1-0) 24, POCONO CITY (0-1) 23
SOUTHPORT (1-0) 38, Stroudsbourg (0-1) 14
Concord City (1-0) 20, THUMBRIA BAY (0-1) 6
Notable:
– Keith Scholten throws for 277 yards, but runs for another 113 in South Charlotte’s mild upset victory.
– The 28 points scored by Portsmouth was the most scored by the club in three seasons.
– Shockwaves are going around the EFL with Putnam Lake’s road win in Springfield. It’s the first time the Eagles have won in Springfield in 15 years, and the streak wasn’t supposed to stop this year.
– Starting national team QB John Pivonka throws for 5 TD’s in Tundra Falls’ rout.
– Alex Foster has 8 receptions for 183 yards and 2 TD’s while Christain Gagnon has 7 receptions for 144 yards and a TD of his own for Southport. QB Steve Keisler throws for 449 on the day.
– Concord City starts 1-0 for the first time in eleven years.
– Pocono City QB Scott Morton goes down with a shoulder injury and is expected to be out 6-8 weeks. This is a devastating blow for the Capitals.
Week 2:
SOUTH CHARLOTTE (2-0) 20, Portsmouth (1-1) 3
SOUTH TIER (1-1) 26, North Charlotte (0-2) 7
CENTRALIA (2-0) 30, Rushville (0-2) 3
Seminole Bay (2-0) 17, OLYMPIA (0-2) 10
Putnam Lake (2-0) 34, FAIRFIELD CITY (1-1) 10
SPRINGFIELD (1-1) 55, Riverside (0-2) 7
Hastings (2-0) 16, HAMPTON (0-2) 6
LOUDON (2-0) 29, Brighton (0-2) 10
TUNDRA FALLS (2-0) 38, Daytopia (0-2) 0
Thumbria Bay (1-1) 20, DOVER CITY (1-1) 14
POCONO CITY (1-1) 26, Stroudsbourg (0-2) 7
SOUTHPORT (2-0) 44, Concord City (1-1) 3
Notable:
– Scholten has another great day for South Charlotte, passing for 255 and rushing for 133.
– Centralia suffers a crucial loss in their win. Starting halfback Jason Martin sustains a serious knee injury in the 4th quarter and is out for the season. For a defensive team, losing their top offensive weapon could make things difficult against stronger opponents.
– Poor Riverside is in the wrong place at the wrong time as QB Eddie Spinella tosses for 402 yards and six TD passes as the Thoroughbreds avenge their opening week loss. Chris Nicolette caught 3 of the TD passes, and had 161 receiving yards on the afternoon.
– Hampton has simply been awful to start the year. 28 fans are ejected from the game for throwing stuff on the field after Malik Jamison throws his 4th INT of the game, and 8th of the young season.
– Tundra Falls has now won 18 consecutive games against Daytopia. Daytopia hasn’t won at the Proving Grounds in 23 years. Pivonka tosses another 4 TD’s.
– Mike Fuller does a pretty good job subbing for the injured Scott Morton in Pocono City’s win, going an efficient 15-for-22 for 214 yards and the key stat, no INT’s.
Week 3: (Eastern Division at Northern Division; Central Division at Western Division)
Southport (3-0) 41, TUNDRA FALLS (2-1) 38 (OT)
LOUDON (3-0) 27, Pocono City (1-2) 16
Dover City (2-1) 27, HAMPTON (0-3) 3
Stroudsbourg (1-2) 34, BRIGHTON (0-3) 21
HASTINGS (3-0) 20, Thumbria Bay (1-2) 14
Concord City (2-1) 9, DAYTOPIA (0-3) 7
Springfield (2-1) 19, CENTRALIA (2-1) 10
SOUTH TIER (2-1) 35, Fairfield City (1-2) 24
Olympia (1-2) 13, SOUTH CHARLOTTE (2-1) 7 (OT)
NORTH CHARLOTTE (1-2) 21, Putnam Lake (2-1) 3
PORTSMOUTH (2-1) 14, Seminole Bay (2-1) 10
Riverside (1-2) 16, RUSHVILLE (0-3) 7
Notable:
– Classic game at the Proving Grounds had 7 lead changes. Corey Parisi had 239 all-purpose yards for the Mariners, but it would not be enough. Justin Sisson hit a 48 yard field goal for Southport as time expired, then won it in OT with a 46 yarder.
– The Leopards highly efficient start is causing a lot of excitement in Loudon, and whenever they beat Pocono City in anything, it’s a huge win. National team rep Chris Padgett ran for 166 and two scores.
– Hampton has more fans arrested: this time a bunch of drunk college students ran onto the field in the buff (though none were visually appealing). It’s the most excitement Hampton’s had all year.
– Hastings is 3-0?! What?! Easy schedule so far or is this the sleeper in the making? It’s the best start in franchise history.
– Seminole Bay seemed to have their game wrapped up, 10-0 with 2 minutes to go. But a 68 yard TD reception by Mark Valenti with 58 seconds to go, then a recovered onside kick, followed by a 44 yard TD reception by John Carlsen give the Whalers a dramatic come from behind win.
– Rushville demoralized over what was probably their best chance to win this year. Now fans worry if they will go 0-16.
Week 4 (Northern at Eastern; Western at Central)
Tundra Falls (3-1) 33, POCONO CITY (1-3) 16
Loudon (4-0) 31, SOUTHPORT (3-1) 28
STROUDSBOURG (2-2) 23, Hampton (0-4) 0
DOVER CITY (3-1) 30, Brighton (0-4) 3
Hastings (4-0) 24, CONCORD CITY (2-2) 23
Daytopia (1-3) 16, THUMBRIA BAY (1-3) 13 (OT)
Centralia (3-1) 13, FAIRFIELD CITY (1-3) 10
SPRINGFIELD (3-1) 38, South Tier (2-2) 28
South Charlotte (3-1) 23, PUTNAM LAKE (2-2) 17
OLYMPIA (2-2) 10, North Charlotte (1-3) 9
RIVERSIDE (2-2) 7, Portsmouth (2-2) 6
Rushville (1-3) 14, SEMINOLE BAY (2-2) 12
Notable:
– Tundra Falls has a bit of a scare with John Pivonka has he to be taken out in the first quarter with an apparent leg injury. However, he returns to start the second half, and rallies the Mariners from a 13-9 halftime deficit to the easy victory.
– Keisler throws for 333 for Southport, but its not enough to overcome Loudon’s Chris Padgett who had 241 all-purpose yards and three scores, likely giving the win to all of his fantasy football owners.
– Crusader fever is sweeping through Hastings. 4-0 now?!
– It’s a good thing Hampton wasn’t at home, because was truly their worst performance of the season.
– South Tier RB Zack Zelenski (ZZ Top) has a big game himself, with 209 all-purpose yards, but Chris Nicolette’s 193 receiving yards are too much for the Seagulls to overcome.
– Dan Strasser had 3 INT’s for Portsmouth, but the offense was horrific.
– Rushville’s win is somewhat unexpected, but they’ll take it. Seminole Bay’s Rick French misses a 40 yarder with 22 seconds to go, but don’t blame him, because his 4 FG’s were all the offense they had.

SOUTHPORT (4-1) 47, Thumbria Bay (1-4) 10
Notable:
– Portsmouth picks up their first shutout in two seasons.
– Finally, Hampton wins. But its more of a product of Brighton inefficiency. Brighton is beginning to look like the worst in the EFL.
– Hastings gets their first true test of the season, and while they put up a fight; Tundra Falls’ John Pivonka was too much, throwing for an efficient 270 yards.
– Loudon RB Chris Padgett has three more scores, giving him 8 TD’s in the last three games.
– Mike Fuller has his best game as a starter for Pocono City, filling in for the injured Scott Morton, going 18-for-27 with 319 yards.

Pocono City (3-3) 20, THUMBRIA BAY (1-5) 10
Stroudsbourg (4-2) 24, CONCORD CITY (2-4) 18
– Centralia defeats South Charlotte on a 50 yard FG as time expires. But for South Charlotte, the worst news was the loss of QB Keith Scholten to a knee injury. He is out for the season.
– Putnam Lake’s shutout was their first shutout in three years, and first shutout of a dvisional opponent in six years.
– John Pivonka has a mediocre day against Hampton, but it doesn’t matter. Tundra Falls defense collects 5 turnovers.
– Chris Padgett gets himself two more TD’s.
– Southport misses a 2-point conversion on a last second TD and are unable to avoid a somewhat stunning loss, though Dover City has been sharp thus far.
– Stroudsbourg’s Duncan Pearson runs for a career high 171 yards with three scores.
Week 7
RUSHVILLE (2-5) 20, South Charlotte (4-3) 13
South Tier (5-2) 23, CENTRALIA (4-3) 16
NORTH CHARLOTTE (3-4) 26, Portsmouth (3-4) 20 (OT)
Olympia (4-3) 14, RIVERSIDE (2-5) 3
SPRINGFIELD (6-1) 32, Fairfield City (2-5) 14
SEMINOLE BAY (4-3) 28, Putnam Lake (3-4) 10
Hampton (2-5) 17, DAYTOPIA (1-6) 3

HASTINGS (5-2) 27, Brighton (1-6) 6
Dover City (5-2) 21, CONCORD CITY (2-5) 3
Pocono City (4-3) 19, SOUTHPORT (4-3) 16 (OT)
STROUDSBOURG (5-2) 30, Thumbria Bay (1-6) 21
– Replacement QB George Watson for South Charlotte’s Keith Scholten is horrendous, being picked on three of his first five pass attempts. It all allows Rushville to come through with a stunning upset victory.
– Mike Rancourt catches a career high 14 passes, for 143 yards and a score for Olympia.
– In a classic game between Tundra Falls and Loudon, John Pivonka goes 25 for 34 with 339 yards and three TD passes. In the battle of Newmanistan’s top two running backs; Corey Parisi runs for 155 and a score while Chris Padgett keeps rolling, with 193 all purpose yards and two more TD’s.
– QB Mike Fuller has his third straight solid game, and raises some eyebrows as he continues to do well in the big market of Pocono City. It’s a tough loss for Southport to swallow. Their QB, Steve Keisler, was picked off four times.
Week 8 (Northern at Central; Eastern at Western)
Southport (5-3) 20, CENTRALIA (4-4) 0
SOUTH TIER (6-2) 31, Pocono City (4-4) 24
Dover City (6-2) 23, SOUTH CHARLOTTE (4-4) 10
NORTH CHARLOTTE (4-4) 12, Stroudsbourg (5-3) 6
PORTSMOUTH (4-4) 28, Thumbria Bay (1-7) 17
Concord City (3-5) 27, RUSHVILLE (2-6) 3
Tundra Falls (7-1) 38, SPRINGFIELD (6-2) 24
FAIRFIELD CITY (3-5) 14, Loudon (6-2) 12
Hampton (3-5) 24, OLYMPIA (4-4) 10
Brighton (2-6) 20, PUTNAM LAKE (3-5) 10
Hastings (6-2) 45, SEMINOLE BAY (4-4) 27
Daytopia (2-6) 16, RIVERSIDE (2-6) 13 (OT)
– Southport is still having some trouble getting their offense rolling, as Steve Keisler had a mediocre game. Both Tiger TD’s were scored by their defense, including an 83 yard INT return for a TD by Eddie Perreault.
– Watson is pathetic again, and rumors are that South Charlotte may be looking to acquire Mike Fuller from Pocono City, since Scott Morton is expected to return in week 9.
– As for Fuller, he was sharp against South Tier, the loss not his fault.
– John Pivonka is in top form, and so is Tundra Falls, who in their last three games, have beaten teams that were a combined 16-1 heading into their matchup with the Mariners. And Pivonka is a big reason, going 27 for 37 here with 388 yards and 4 TD’s. Chris Nicolette caught 12 passes for 199 yards for Springfield in the losing effort. Pivonka and Nicolette will be connecting during the World Bowl.
– Loudon’s Chris Padgett, off to his amazing start, had a surprisingly bad game against Fairfield City, with just 44 yards on 25 carries. Maybe the win will get Fairfield City going, as the team has been pretty disappointing thus far.

SEASON 4
League schedule
With the 2 expansion teams, a new scheduling formula is being used. Each team will be used. Each team will play every other team once, then play THREE of the other seven teams again for a total of 10 games. The first seven weeks will be the single play games, while weeks 8 thru 10 will be the 2nd games against the 3 teams.
Over the next three seasons, including this one, every team will rotate through the other 4 teams they did not play twice this season, until every team has played 2 games against every team. Each team has a designated "rival" which they will play twice every season.
the rivals
(example)
Team A will play teams B (its rival), C and D twice, while playing teams E, F, G and H only once. Next year, A will play B, E and F twice, while playing C, D, G and H once. The year after that A will play B, G and H twice, while playing C, D, E and F once.

The schedule will begin with Fromburg at Lake Porter City, the defending QAG champions, on Saturday September 6th, the first Saturday night game for the QAG, which usually holds its games on Sunday afternoons. Notes From the Abyss:
• Biloxoulaport hasn’t lost a game this season, and the resurgence of the Seabees is being pinned on their defensive line. National team participant Raibonne Charles said, “We had a disappointing go in year 38, and we just refuse to get rolled over anymore.
• Pine Forest, a pick to get dropped in the pre-season is surprising people with a ball control offense and rookie running back Donovan Haley, who has scored 7 touchdowns in 7 weeks.
• Way Path County fans are wondering which version of the Pioneers will show up from week to week after lost by 4 touchdowns for the second time this year, this time at Big Thicket. All their other games have been relatively close wins, so far.
• F.C. Atalanta: The Conquerors are off to a decent start, with the league’s second best defense and a passable running game in this, Franklin Chavez’s last year. Rumors out of the Hive say that the team may make the first purchase of a player from another team, saying that an offer for Pine Forest’s Hailey might be made for 6 Million Baht.
• Evangeline’s perseverance through the hard season opening which includes 5 out of 7 of their first games on the road, has led National Team QB Chris Chamesi to predict that big things may be on the way for the Seraphs. Quote the QB, “We played well at home, the only game we lost there was to the Seabees, and they’re killing it this year. I think that once we get back into the CajunDome, we’re going to be hard to stop.”
• Atalanta’s second team, the Senators are reportedly looking for new ownership after the government decided to divest themselves of both the Senators, and Soccer’s Federal Sport. A package deal including rights to play at Government Park for the next 20 years with the Government paying for an expansion to 71,000 Seats if attendance records are met will reportedly cost around 70 to 75 million Baht.
• Resurgens RB Randolph Crown has underperformed so far this season, leading to rumors that his leg which was injured in a basketball game last year may not be at 100%. Team doctors deny the rumors.
• Big Thicket’s Triple I attack shows that a return to the old school can pay dividends, as the Petrol Harbor Side have generated the most points on any team in the ANFL. Coach Shaun Oak has been lauded for his effort with the team which is average around 20 points a game, a high in the mainly defensive and running oriented league.
• Black Tide – No news reported.
• Lake St. Anthony supporters have something to cheer about as they beat Huracan for the first time ever in week 2. They’re currently in second place for the Egg Cup, an regional trophy decided between Huracan, Biloxoulaport, and Lake St. A.
• Northland Cannon Percy Marquis has announced his retirement effective after World Bowl 2, and the current season of the National League. The bruising Fullback was a staple of the Tar Hornet offense.
• Lighthouse power outage: Port Wentworth’s scored less than 10 points a game, a stat that has their manager Ezekiel Savannah on the hot seat. The board did give him a vote of confidence, but stated that the team needed to improve and soon.
• Panthers fighting hard against relegation.
• Huracan QB Erik Smythe should be back from a break to his throwing arm be week 11. The Tropicals have suffered without him, ending up just 2 points above the relegation zone. Fans say it’s far too early to worry about that, and the Tropicals will be back to full strength once their backfield is healthy.
• Aransas County – No news reported.
• Port Lange’s defense “Abyssmal” according to fans and the Petrol Observer. After a season where they survived due to a surprising offence, the Archers have returned to earth. Hard.

Notes From the Abyss:
#1: F.C. Atalanta continues their late season dominance, their only loss in this quarter being the Second City Derby, against Resurgens.
#2: World Bowl starting QB Chris Chamesi looks to be in great shape, leading the Seraphs into a playoff position with 5 games left to play.
#3: Biloxoulaport’s defense is averaging a shocking 9 points allowed per game. I know this is a defensive league, but come on.
#4: Pine Forest continues to ride star running back Abe Chadwick’s legs to victory. But he can’t do it all, as evidenced by United 2-game losing streak.
#5: Big Thicket is the home of the best offense in the league, being the only team to score over 300 points. Unfortunately, they’ve also allowed 301 points. But with a game in hand, they can catch Pine Forest for the last playoff spot.
#6: Lake St. Anthony fans are on a high after crushing Provincial rival Biloxoulaport in a 28-6 game that was all one-way traffic.
#7: Resurgens has finally seemed to get it in gear, winning their last 4 games, and moving from 13th to 7th place in the process.
#8: Northland is the most balanced team in the league, with an exact .500 record.
#9: Black Tide – Things are excessively quite at Fisherman park, although the Tide have claimed that they are going to try to do massive scouting at World Bowl II.
#10: Huracan fans are disappointed in the way they feel that the team has dramatically underachieved after last year’s championship run. A formal protest will be held at team headquarters, 1 Casino Square, Huracan on Saturday at noon.
#11: Way Path Pioneer fans are blaming the failures of their team on a curse that local Waycross fan, and scapegoat Andrew Claxton placed on the team, after being banned from NorthRail Park after his activities in causing a fight during World Bowl I.
#12: Port Wentworth fans, on the otherhand are delighted to be in twelth, and basically out of the relegation discussion. Hopefully, they won’t be the only team from St. Simona in the league next year, with the probable promotion of Lincolnton.
#13: Aransas County – Bored. No news to report.
#14: Nova Lyon’s Panthers are another team that’ll be looking to expand their squad through international additions after World Bowl II. “ The newness of the sport, and the fact that a lot of countries don’t have leagues yet makes it a good place to recruit”, says scout Norman Avellano
#15: Don’t let the Senators’ 15th place ranking fool you. They’re one of the 4 teams that have only played 16 games so far, and have plenty of time to get out of the drop zone.
#16: Port Lange is the first, and only team to be mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs, with 6 weeks left to go in the season.

Well, in their country, maybe there is. Everything doesn't have to be the same. Actually, I like the uniqueness and variation of leagues.

Everywhere is different. Taking people to task for relegating people in their American Football leagues would be similar to yelling at someone for not relegating in soccer leagues. Besides, no one can fall through the bottom unless they go broke, and it's a good way to set up teams for story lines, as I should start doing with scouting/recruiting players for Arroza Internacionale.
Also: I never posted logos for teams, but I think I have that same logo for the Way Path Pioneers in my domestic league.

I don't see why not. There are several divisions of NCAA college football, and while it's rare, schools can move up and down the pyramid as they grow or contract programs. It's not exactly merit-based like a traditional promotion/relegation system, but it's been done with varying degrees of success. So now we take it one step further!

That is true, But I'm a traditionalist when it comes to FOOTBALL, either one.
(Drives me Crazy that MLS doesn't have relegation/promotion. I for one would like to see the Rochester Raging Rhinos or Montreal Impact be promoted while RedBull$#!t NY or Real Salt Lake is relegated.)

MONEY INJECTION
REALLY NOW, it's a bit obvious this would have happened eventually. With the Brute's death-or-glory resurrection of gridiron in Rennidan, the time is ripe for the corporate lot to start throwing money about to set up something that can draw a stable income.
So now, one of Rennidan's richest companies, RenniBooze, has injected one hundred million Golden Crowns into a small government run scheme to set up a domestic league. It's been kept under wraps since the finish of the second World Bowl, but now, they have revealed the list of teams that will be playing. Considering Rennidan's reputation in gridiron as a hardcore lot, the league will no doubt attract attention from all over the world. The league will be named after Rennidan's short lived competition 'The Elite Invitational'.
RenniBooze has announced that, whilst they look to become the forerunners of American Football in Rennidan, they are in no way trying to encroach on the Brute's international status and, as such, will not be putting players up for the next World Bowl.
It seems then, for now, the Brutes are here to stay.

LAAAADIIIES AND GENTLEMEN. WEEEELLLCOME TO THE UNVEILING OF THE ELITE INVITATIONAL TEAMS.
For this new league, the EI has gone with a two-division, four-conference, four-teams-in-each gig, copying America's NFL system.
Rennidan has been split in two for the division, labelled East Rennidan Divison (ERD) and West Rennidan Division (WRD).
Conferences will follow the usual compass-point system, I.E WRD South, ERD East.

The draft will be happening in a month’s time, and universities across Rennidan are kicking into gear to get their players noticed. But it's not just the Rennidanian players that are looking to get noticed. Players across the world will no doubt perk up at the chance of being able to play in the newest league to hit the sport, as well as play in a country with so much history intertwined with the game we know as gridiron.
(Got any players that would be interested in playing in a foreign domestic league? Send me a TG with their name, position and what team you’d want them to be in, and who knows, they might become a star player, eh?)

Lorax City 0 7 0 0 7 (3-5-1)
San Guano 0 8 0 3 11 (4-5)
Recap:
Unlike their first meeting, a 38-27 shoot-out, snow and a wind-chill of 10 degrees kept the scores almost as low, as San Guano snapped their 5 game losing streak, and the winning streak of their fellow expansion mates.
SaxerVilla @ Rockport
SCORES 1 2 3 4 FINAL
SaxerVilla 3 0 0 0 3 (4-4-1)
Rockport 0 3 10 3 16 (6-3)
Recap:
The Ravens snap their losing skid and keep alive a chance at a 3rd title in 4 seasons, as they end any hopes for the Saints to get a title, as Greg Dannen uncharacteristically threw 4 INTs.

Bruxen @ Qazox City
SCORES 1 2 3 4 FINAL
Bruxen 7 0 3 0 10 (5-4)
Qazox 0 7 3 3 13 (6-3)

WEEK TEN SCORES
SaxerVilla @ Qazox City
SCORES 1 2 3 4 FINAL
SaxerVilla 0 8 7 3 18 (5-4-1)
Qazox 7 3 3 0 13 (6-4)
Recap:
The Saints temporarily but the Eagles title hopes on hold, as Adam Politt intercepted Charles Hanneford in the endzone with just over 4 minutes left. But the Eagles win the QAG title, after hearing of Rockport's loss, and they had a better record than either Rockport or Bruxen in the H2H meetings.
Fromburg @ Rockport
SCORES 1 2 3 4 FINAL
Fromburg 13 3 3 0 19 (5-5)
Rockport 0 0 7 0 7 (6-4)
Recap:
The Ravens just needed a win after hearing of Qazox City's loss earlier in the day to clinch the title, but the Falcons ran out to an 16-0 lead at the half, and the Ravens just couldn't muster enough offense in the rain to recover from the early deficit.
Lake Porter City @ Lorax City
SCORES 1 2 3 4 FINAL
LPC 14 7 3 7 24 (4-6)
Lorax City 0 10 10 6 26 (4-5-1)

Are you ready for some gridball?!
The Grid Bowl Playoffs are HERE!
Week 1
Western Division Playoff
Forest Glen Bears 20 - 7 Diogenes Scholars
This Week: Forest Glen routed Diogenes at home and away during the regular season, and their playoff bout is no different. A magical season for underdog Diogenes blows away in like so much dust in the wind as the Bears, favored from the beginning to win the Grid Bowl, prepare for a bigger challenge in Leninberg next week. The regular season series between the Bears and the Reds was tied, each team winning at home.
Eastern Division
Bookchin Hammers 16-10 Winston Capitals
This Week: Capitals quarterback Jose Alexander falls apart in the two-minute drill, throwing an interception to Bookchin free safety Kathleen Luiso that effectively ends Winston's roller-coaster ride of a season. Bookchin will meet the Chessmasters in Durdenheim next week; their tied position in the standings would suggest that it will be close, but the Chessmasters beat the Hammers in both season meetings and shut them out twice, outscoring them 29-0.
Week 2
Western Division Championship
Leninberg Reds 20-24 Forest Glen Bears
This Week: Forest Glen kicked the playoff drama into high gear in a wild game with five lead changes. Trailing 20-17 with a minute and a half to go, Bears QB Peter Lango marched his offense up the field and handed off to fullback Damian Mager at the four yard line. Mager was called "The Unstoppable Force" in last week's Sporting Weekly and proved why as Leninberg watched the homefield advantage they'd worked so hard for slip through their fingers. Masters of a perfect season three weeks ago, the Reds now trudge through a field of broken dreams, wiping mud off their faces and preparing to watch the Grid Bowl from their living rooms--the last place they wanted to be on Grid Bowl Sunday.
Eastern Division Championship
Durdenheim Chessmasters 21-6 Bookchin Hammers
This Week: Durdenheim OLB Ray Danley was too much for Hammers quarterback Drew Nothstine; "Thunder Thighs" Danley sacked him four times and pushed him into numerous bad throws, two of which were intercepted. The Chessmasters took a leisurely pace, confident of their lead from the moment they returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. Let's hope next year's Eastern Division Championship is more interesting.
In next week's Grid Bowl, the Bears of Forest Glen will face the Chessmasters of Durdenheim in an epic battle between the usurper of the West and the undisputed master of the East. Durdenheim has conquered their division with ease, but Forest Glen carry the momentum with a six-game winning streak dating all the way back to Week 6.
--------
The big day is finally here, folks. Welcome to brand new UVEW Stadium in scenic Oceanview, recently donated by the folks at United Video Equipment Workers, Local 278, in anticipation of the qualifying rounds of World Cup 46, to be christened with the sporting event of a lifetime, the first of many Norwellian Grid Bowls. Fasten your seatbelts, this is going to be one for the history books!
The Forest Glen Bears, hailing from deep in rural Heartland, are corn-fed bruisers with an emphasis on their well-rounded offensive attack. They like to use the run early to open up the play-action pass, which Peter Lango pulls off with such skill that even the cameraman gets fooled sometimes. Lango is responsible for a lot of jerky footage this year and a lot of flat-footed defensive backs. They come into this game with a record of 9-3 and a six-game winning streak.
The Durdenheim Chessmasters, from beautiful suburban Winston, employ a more conservative style, using a spread formation and creative blocking schemes to open up defenses for the inside run. They play a basic Cover 2 defense anchored by outside linebacker Ray "Thunder Thighs" Danley, who recorded four sacks against the Hammers last week. Danley is always a threat to blitz and his timing of opponent snap counts is impeccable. Durdenheim comes into this game with a record of 8-3 and suffered a stunning upset in Catalonia in Week 10.
Here it is, your moment of zen:
Forest Glen Bears 14-20 Durdenheim Chessmasters
Congratulations Durdenheim on a dream season and a piece of gridball history!

While I'm here, I thought I'd run my domestic league ranking system up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes.
For the first season, like I do with all of my leagues in the first season, I randomly generated rank and style points for each team in the league.
Now that I have data to go off of, I've created a more nuanced ranking system:
First, I tabulate each team's record for the whole season, including the playoffs.
Then, I toss Points (as in, standings points, 2 for win, 1 for draw) out the window and use win percentage, since this is American football and that's what we do.
Next, I multiply everyone's win percentage by 100 to get their rank base.
Then I take the team with the highest base (in this case, Leninberg at 81.818181 etc.) and subtract that from 100 (to get 18.181818 etc.), then take that number and divide it by their points differential (in this case, 105) to get K, the PD/Rank coefficient (0.17316).
Finally, I multiply K by the points differential of each team and then add this number to their base rank, then round up; then I use a random number generator going from -10 to 10 to modify their rank, simulating the little things that go on each offseason that change how the team fares next year.
Any thoughts?

(ooc: I just have to stick my 2 cents worth in here. THERE IS NO RELEGATION IN AMERICAN FOOTBALL! It's almost driving me crazy seeing football/Soccer style leagues, when American football definately is not set up for that type of league. Call me a bit of a purist, but please can you guys stop the relegation/Promotion? )
I know this is old, but I have to answer this because I'm an American and a Chargers fan and I'm going to put promotion and relegation in my gridball league. The only reason there's no relegation in the NFL is because there's no relegation in American sports, period--it's not the sport itself, but the structure of major league sports in our country, that prevents such a system from being feasible. Our Major League Soccer doesn't have relegation either, after all.
I'm going to have promotion and relegation in my league partly because I think it's a cool idea for team sports in general and partly because I don't want to see the same bottom-feeders stinking up the league year after year. Gotta keep the thing fresh, ya know?
If you want to model your baseball, football and basketball leagues after American leagues, and your soccer, rugby and cricket (or whatever) leagues after European leagues, so be it. But your way isn't the only way, and it'll be good for your blood pressure to relax and enjoy the variety.

Bumpity. It's rainbows all the way down, so I thought if I gave this thing a little shove, hopefully we could get some more leagues in here.
Also, I know it might irritate the purists, but I think this would be more fun for many of us if there were more international competition involved--namely, a sort of Champions' League for American-football teams. I know, I know, it's crazy, but NS is a fantasy world where we get to do whatever we want, so why not, right? What do y'all think?
