The Mirfakan government formally released the governments of CoreWorlds and Weyr from their responsibilities to the Socialist Republic today as the Treaty of Jin Rin, signed into law March 12, 2889 in Mirfak, expired. Speaking after the expiration at 13:54, Alphin Horatio Reanix pledged to continue Mirfak's peaceful foreign policy and maintain good relations with the nation's former occupiers. "As a sovereign entity it is our responsibility to carry ourselves as befits a peaceful, productive member of the universal community," he said. "We have learned much from our mistakes and must determine not to repeat them."
Under the Treaty of Jin Rin, Mirfak gained defense agreements from CoreWorlds and Weyr in return for granting them rights to limit and inspect their armed forces.
