I would like to try and get into RPing, but I'm not really sure where to start. I already have a character (almost) made, and I would really like to join in, but I just never really know how I should join a story!
I'm not very interested in dueling, and prefer ancient/magical type stuff.
And tips on how I should start?
(I'm already a writer, and a pretty good one (IMO) so that should help. I could post a link to my site with all my work if anyone would like it.)

I think its great to finally see someone come into Nationstates with an outlook on learning - its obvious that you too have that attitude. Where can you get involved in? Well it depends really how you would like to get involved. Usually one begins with finding a similar-minded state. Being a nation heavily focused on production and business, I find that roleplaying with people such as Knootoss (whom is very similar) can provide some interesting stories. At the same time, I link myself up with non-democracies also. Maybe you should really find an already existing RP of someone's stuff you like and become involved that way. I wouldnt recommend starting your own thread just yet, until you find your relative circle of 'friends'. Maybe come onto the IRC channels if you want - See the Stickies! I have found that associating with others on IRC has been the source of some interesting contacts. You might find the same yourself.
I know that I probably havent been all that helpful, but then ive tried at least! Happy Roleplaying!
