Introduction

The University Cup is a new football (soccer) tournament that Universities and Colleges from around the NS World will compete in to see who is the best school in football.

Host/Host City

The Hosting for the first University Cup will be done by me, New Savio.

The Host City for UC I is Monte Karlo, the capital city of New Savio. Monte Karlo, located on the sunny east coast of New Savio, is the newest city and boasts the best transportation system in the city.

Getting to Monte Karlo - Athletes and coaches will fly into Monte Karlo via the Monte Karlo International Airport. Most major cities offer direct flights into MKIA, while alternate routes include flying into New Savio and connecting to Monte Karlo via Forza International Airport.

Once There - Once in Monte Karlo, athletes and coaches will stay at the luxurious Crown Royal Hotel in the heart of downtown Monte Karlo, which has five practice fields and a gym on it's grounds. Athlete's and their coaches will also be equipped with a handy guide, which will take them to their matches and also take them on city tours during day's they do not play tournament matches.

Main Venue - Name: New Savio International Stadium

Description: Home of the new football teams Monte Karlo FC and Real Monte Karlo, the New Savio International Stadium is the biggest and best sports venue in all of New Savio. The stadium, which holds 75,000 seats, will be the main venue for the cup, and most games will be played here.

Secondary Venue - Name: Kagliari Stadium
Images: The Stadium Exterior (http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/portugal/lisboa/lisbon_alvalade1.jpg), Inside view (http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/portugal/lisboa/lisbon_alvalade2.jpg)
Description: The Kagliari Stadium, located on the campus of the new Monte Karlo University [MKU], is the third biggest stadium in New Savio holding 60,000 Fan. Home Stadium of the MKU Mariners, all other games of the tournament will be played here. The stadium is located a short while from the International Stadium, directly below the Delorean Hills area of Monte Karlo.

Tournament Play

Sixteen of the world's universities will be ceded randomly into a tournament bracket (http://www.darters.com/brackets/images/16_team_single_bracket.gif) where they will play single-elimination football as the 16 teams become 8, 8 becomes 4, 4 becomes 2, and 2 become 1.

Scoring

For the University Cup, I have made a quick and easy scoring system based losely off of a few other scorinators, Hockey Canada's scorinator for his unofficial bid for CCXIII mainly.

Now, each team will be listed in order from 1 through 16 based on the order of how they signed up. Using random.org's Random Sequence Generator, I will generate a listing of 1-16, however, the numbers will be mixed randomly. For example, after inputting 1 as the smallest value and 16 as the largest in the form to generate the random sequence, i'll get:

14
7
12
8
13
6
15
11
1
4
9
16
3
5
2
10

Now, the order that they are in will become the official University Cup Rankings, for example, the team that signed up fourteenth will be number one, the best team.

Now, to actually scorinate, I will use FIFA 2004 (PC) to come up with the scores. How? I listed all 37 International teams given in the game, and put them all in a spreadsheet. The second step I took was to take all 37 teams and rank them 1-37 according to the official Fifa Men's World Rankings from January 2004.

Now, the rankings for the University Cup will co-exist with these rankings, thus, as the team that signed up fourteenth is the top ranked team using the the official University Cup Rankings, they will also be team number one using the rankings of the teams used in FIFA 2004. Meaning, the team that signed up fourteenth is the team number one using the FIFA 2004 Rankings, meaning they are represented by BRAZIL, the team that is number one in the FIFA 2004 Rankings.

As for scoring, say the team that signed up fourteenth (BRAZIL), plays the team that signed up fifteenth (Ranked 7th by the University Cup Rankings, thus, represented by MEXICO, which is number seven in the FIFA 2004 rankings) for a match during the University Cup. Using the exhibition mode. I will simulate the game between the two teams, and the game would give me this result:

BRAZIL - 2:1 - MEXICO

However - teams that do not RP occasionally will lose, for example, let's say we have the 5th ranked team against the 15th ranked team. The 5th ranked team doesnt RP at all while the 15th ranked team does. After the match, the 5th ranked team comes on top and wins 3-0. However, in all fairness, I will modify the score to 0-3, meaning the 15th ranked team will win.

And this is how the rest of the games of the tournament will be scored. Now, if the University Cup is succesful, there will be a sequel, and this scorinator will be modified for these additions, but it will use the same system of scoring.

You know... no one will sign up due to the fact they don't want to start off 14th... try something different and participate in a few tournements before hosting one.

It's hard to believe I'm agreeing with HC, but yes, she (she, right?)'s right. 'Sides, not many people will appreciate FIFA being used to generate scores.

Hi,

just so you don't get too discouraged by the lack of positive responses: your enthusiasm is admirable, but there are a few things working against you.

Apart from the things that were mentioned, there's also:
- You're pretty new around here. That's not a bad thing (I haven't been here all that long either), and the NS sports community is hardly an exclusive club or anything, but people will be much more eager to sign up if an event is organized by someone they know. So sign up for some sporting events and have some fun first. :)
- Apart from that, there's also the less-than-perfect timing. There are quite a few sports events going on/about to start at the moment. For football (soccer) alone, off the top of my head: the World Cup is just finished, a new one is being prepared, the U-21 World Cup is going on, there's a Karela Cup that just finished with a Takila Cup ready to start. And that's not counting various regional tournaments. And quite a few other sports events are in the works as well (F1, Hockey, Amer. Football, Lacrosse, ...)
People mostly do sports events to roleplay in them, not just to wait for the results and say "Yay!" or "Bah!", which means time is limited, so they have to choose.
But again, don't be too discouraged if it turns out not many people are interested in this. I'd just participate in some events first and save the organizing for later. :)
Cheers.

Thank you all for your kind advice, i'll really take it and hold of on the UC, participate in more tournaments, and have fun while seeing the way things are run in these tournaments. Also, i'll work on aspects of this tournament that need tweaking, and once i'm semi-renown around the NS World, i'll come back with this tournament, or maybe not, who knows. Anyways, again, thanks for the advice, your responses are better than no response at all.
