As you may have heard (even if you have not), Hockey Canada has proposed a Hall of Fame idea and there has been nothing but good reviws about the subject. This thread has been made and soon to be a vote on the bids.

NOTE: Maximum of 10 bids may be entered. The bid should have details about the country and must persuade nations to vote for your country. When completed, the NSWIKI site is expected to be made and the host will build and operate the Hall of Fame according to the bid.

Hockey Canada will send forth 2 players to be offered into the Hall of Fame after it is created.

Hockey Canada will send forth 2 players to be offered into the Hall of Fame after it is created.

That's a good one, I'm still laughing.

Seriously, though, can anyone name a Hockey Canadian player? Other than HC, of course.

Once you've got in Alan Belmore, Urk, Jingus Gonorrhea, Callum Banda, Jenji Y, Simeone Di Bradini, Harald Axewielder, Jeremy Jaffacake, Rikki Stone, Faiwe Irafma and Margaret-knows who else, it'll be a long time coming before any HC players get in :p

Offered as sacrifice to the random number gods? Well it can't be to be accepted, for they miss a vital part - fame.
Sarzonia

Official Bid, Incorporated Football Federation

The Incorporated States of Sarzonia have enjoyed a rich heritage in international football, winning the Baptism of Fire Cup (pre World Cup XVI), the 10th Cup of Harmony tournament), and appearing in the finals of the fifth Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football (AOCAF) tournament. Prior to that finals appearance, Sarzonia appeared in the third place match four times, winning three. The current first choice Sarzonian national team has advanced to the finals of World Cup XXII and may be considered a team on the rise.

The Under 21 national team, dubbed the Junior Stars, have advanced to the knockout stages in 11 of their 12 appearances in the Under 21 World Cup, advancing to the semifinals in nearly a third of their appearances. They also advanced to the finals of World Cup VI.

If approved as the site of the World Cup Football Hall of Fame, workers have cleared space where the old Palestra, the home of the storied Woodstock Wild, once stood. It is mere blocks away from the stadium that most Sarzonians consider their national stadium and recently began serving as the home stadium for the Wild: Hendrix Stadium.

Sarzonia is part of the Atlantian Oceania region that has dominated world football over the past few years. With the popular Portland Iron Works and the resurgent Avalon Aerospace Corporation, Sarzonia have gained a reputation as a builder of high-quality military products. The Incorporated Sarzonian Navy has become a world standard for excellence, and the Naval Museum in the country's largest city, Nicksia, is a popular tourist attraction.

Should you bestow the honour of host country for the World Cup Football Hall of Fame upon her, Sarzonia would ensure that location is well-served and well-maintained.

Well, HC doesn't make much of an impact on the World Cup scene...

and Sarzonia will host the Hall if it remains the sole bidder.

We will never consider such a thing until 'after' we win our first World Cup. Not even the CoH, or goddess forbid the U21 tourney, meets the standards needed to even consider a Hall of Fame bid.

As such we'll be looking at this option from afar for now.

Bedistan

The Grand Dominion of Bedistan

Official World Cup Hall of Fame Bid

The Background: Bedistan has been competing in the World Cup and its associated tournaments for a full seventy years. In our eighteen World Cup appearances, we have reached the semifinals seven times, more than any other nation with the possible exception of Rejistania (who have done so at least six times). We have reached the final match three times and are the current holders of the World Cup [OOC: though not for long...bloody Sarzonia!], and in our eighteen attempts we have failed to qualify only once. Bedistani teams are also the winners of several other competitions, including the fourth Eagle's Cup and the fourth and sixth Under-21 World Cups. Bedistan is a hotbed of domestic competition as well, with one hundred clubs from across the nation battling it out every year in the Bedistan Premier League and Bedistan Football League. Not to mention that we are part of the Atlantian Oceania region, THE force in football, winners of the last three World Cups (possibly four, should Sarzonia defeat Oaker).

The Site: If Bedistan is selected as the host nation of the World Cup Hall of Fame, it will be constructed on a specially designated plot of land located directly across the street from the famed Holmes Stadium in downtown Columbia. Holmes Stadium was the original home of the Lions when they first began playing in World Cup 5. It was the site of the grand spectacle that was the World Cup 8 final, where the highly favored Bedistan Lions, the first team from a host nation to reach the final, were toppled by an underdog team from Liverpool England, starting a rivalry lasting over half a century. Holmes Stadium still stands today, continuing to host Columbia Sharks home matches.

Support: Bedistan's economy is one of the strongest in Atlantian Oceania and the world, and as a result Bedistani sports programs are very highly funded. As such, there would be no problems whatsoever in constructing a truly spectacular and long-lasting venue for the pride of the world - the World Cup Hall of Fame.

Liverpool England Official Hall of Fame Hosting Bid

Information:
Liverpool England has been participating in the World Cup since World Cup 6. The glory days of the nation came in World Cup 8 and 9, finishing winners and second-runners-up respectively after beating Bedistan in the deciding match on both occasions.

Background Info on Liverpool England's footballing past:
World Cup 6
Liverpool England entered the sports scene in World Cup 6, barely missing out on a qualification playoff spot after losses to Total n Utter Insanity and Errinundera, two superpowers of the world at that time.

NS Champions League 1, CL2
The nation entered two teams into NSCL1, Orean United finishing third after losing to Alan City of The Belmore Family in the semis. Again they tried in NSCL2, however again losing to Alan City, eventual winners - in the final.

World Cup 7
By the time WC7 came around, the national side (as yet un-nicknamed) had qualified for the finals, winning their qualifying group. They lost in a tough finals group comprising of hosts Audioslavia, Kingsford, Malundar and themselves; finishing third ahead of Kingsford on goal difference. After the cup, they found their rank at an improbable 28 - far higher than the 150 before WC6 qualifying started.

World Cup 8 - PART ONE
World Cup 8 was the big one. The late Paul Dussis had turned into a goalscoring machine, averaging a goal and a half every two games. The team comfortably won their group, going on to a group stage which looked impossible to conquer, with first-ranked holders Errinundera, Squornshelous and Ariddia in the group. Amazingly, the team finished unbeaten (2-1-0), moving on to face The Belmore Family in the second round.
A 2-1 win saw them move on to the quarter finals, where they faced Runaway Moose in the second round. A 1-0 win meant that they would proceed to face Haraki in the semifinals. Dussis scored the only regulation Liverpool England goal of the match in the 19th minute as the game finished 1-1 after extra time. Penalties would be needed to decide who would move on to the final.

World Cup 8 - PART TWO
The shootout was tense. Both sides had missed three kicks; Liverpool England had already taken all five kicks. IT was down to this. Haraki had to score; a miss would send them out in an extremely close game 2-1 on penalties. The run-up looked good, but in the end the shot was powered just wide. Liverpool England had reached their first (and to date, only) Word Cup Final.
A full-house plus 35000 fans crammed into Holmes Stadium to watch a dramatic final. Liverpool England took an improbable lead in the 12th minute, Dussis silencing the home crowd with a well-taken effort. Captain Caddy Cannon doubled the lead 20 minutes later, and Liverpool England were well on their way to securing their first (and to date only) title. Bedistan's sole effort in the 59th minute not enough as Dussis slots home a third with eight minutes left.

NSCL3
NSCL3 saw Liverpool England enter 4 participants, with now-defunct Talbott and City Centre (now CCL 'C') both going through the first qualifying stage. Talbott finished 4th in their group and failed to qualify, however, CCL managed to qualify third in theirs. They joined Orean and Schimpol in the second round. CCL fell at the second round, however, Orean and Schimpol mvoed on to the second round, where Orean lost 2-1 after losing two players to red cards. Schimpol managed a 5-1 thumping of Mohemmadan, with Cannon grabbing all five. They fell 2-1 in the quarterfinals after extra time, though.

World Cups 9 through 16
Liverpool England failed to defend their title, however, losing to cohosts and eventual winners Europa Brittania in WC9. In the third place playoff, the team defeated Bedistan again to secure a rank of 2 for World Cup 10. However, in World Cups 10 through 16, the team drastically fell from glory, although never ranking lower than 32. In World Cup 14 in Oglethorpia, the team was nicknamed the Philosophers by Oglethorpian and Kingsfordian press. Oglethorpian-born coach Guy Picciotto "resigned due to poor health" shortly after WC14. In World Cup 16, the nation was shocked - Ha~e Hangila's job reshuffle from the post of manager caused the team to boycott the match against Northbank, causing the Philosophers to fail to qualify for the first time in 40 years.

Cup of Harmony 8 - Cockbill Street and Who?
There are no news reports dating back to the Cup of Harmony in Raptor Claw, then an undeveloped World Cup nation, an Cockbill Street. What we know is that the Philosophers made the second round.

World Cup 17 and the failure to win
World Cup 17 has been to date Liverpool England's best chance of winning the cup since World Cup 9. The team had made it to the semifinals in Vilita and Kaze Progressa; a win against Dance 2 Revolution would secure at least a silver. It was not to be, two losses saw the newly-named Terminators finish 4th.

World Cup 18, back to Bedistan
The World Cup returned to Bedistan after 40 years, and the Liverpool England team were looking to repeat their feat from 40 years prior - beat Bedistan in the final. The team made it out of the group stage in pole with a 2-0-1 record (beating The Lowland Clans 2-0, Esth 5-1 and losing to cohosts Eauz 1-3), but fell at the very next hurdle with a 2-0 loss to Turori.

World Cup 19, and Le Rejistance
World Cup 19 saw a highly successful Liverpool England hosting bid - Le Rejistance with Rejistania closely missing out after much controversy. While the Terminators went into the qualifiers ranked in the top 10 for the first time since World Cup 10, the Liverpool England press thus boycotted the qualifiers, and the team were ordered to play half-heartedly. Although top of their qualifying group with 4 matches to play, they finished with an 0-1-3 record (including a 4-0 loss to Wella and 4-2 Nove Brittanicus, and a last-day loss to Aquiliana) saw the team finished 5th out of 8 teams - their worst ever qualifying finish. (World Cup 6: 5th, World Cup 16: 4th)

NSCL4
IDEXO, a Liverpool England-based Kingsfordian club, and CCL 'D' represented the nation for NSCL 4. IDEXO won their group despite a slow start, while CCL 'D' finished second after a couple of draws and a few wins. CCL 'D' lost out in the knockout first phase despite scoring two away goals; a 3-2 home loss put them out 5-4. IDEXO moved on to the quarterfinals on goal difference. IDEXO won he first leg of their quarterfinal at home to Gauralan 4-2, however, they would be facing Gauralan in Kaze Progressa, a difficult place to gain points for any team in the second leg. No worries, though, IDEXO beating Gauralan 2-0 to secure a semifinal place for a Liverpool England team or the third time in 4 cups. They would go on to face Kalisimu Salan from Rejistania. Alas, it was not to be, an away 1-1 draw not enough as the team crashed out 2-1 on aggregate, securing joint-third.

Cup of Harmony 11
This was the Cup of Harmony with the most controversy - both hosts in the final; both unbeaten. The nation was testing out a new isolationist policy; no press reports are available.

World Cups 20 and 21
World Cup 20 (Starblaydia/Druida) was one to forget too. The team's perfect record against Bedistan was finally snapped; a 2-1 loss coupled with a 0-1-1 record saw the team finish bottom of the group (0-1-2). Bedistan again put a stop to Liverpool England's push for another title in World Cup 21; while the team finished top of their finals Group, another 2-1 loss to Bedistan in the second round on their way to the title ended Liverpool England's hopes.

World Cup 22 - it's finally home
World Cup 22 saw something remarkable. For the first time in 15 bid attempts, Liverpool England had won a bid (with South Osettia). The World Cup was in Liverpool England for the first time in 56 years. Despite major problems in qualifying, it was eventually completed. The team automatically qualified for the finals, where in the group stage edged out Raptor Claw on goal difference for top (1-2-0). The Second Round, and a familiar opponent in Squornshelous. As expected, however, the team fell, 2-1 (AGAIN!). Manager Syku Lyku avoided early termination (a fate not escaping his three predecessors), however he was still out of a job - his contract had ended. The final, to be played between Sarzonia and Oaker, is scheduled for this week.

Other sporting notes:
Liverpool England has successfully hosted four other major international tournaments, and one minor international tournament: the Cherry Cup (Edition 7), the Field Hockey World Cup (twice; Editions 6 and 11), the Baptism of Fire Cup (pre-WC16), and the Cup of Harmony (post-WC20). The nation has also won one Field Hockey World Cup (Edition 8).

Druida would put a bid in, but that would be the equivelant to putting a Communist Hall Of Fame in Commerce Heights. However, if you're looking for a WC Hall Of Infamy...

I would have thought a football Hall of Fame would have to be filled with a 'Who's Who" of the world cup... not a 'Who?' :p

Oh and we need that crystilakerean who 'scores headers off corners'. Somebody Ferrara, was it?

Kingsford Hall O' Fame Bid

FROM: HENRY TUCK, MINISTER OF SPORT
TO: HOCKEY CANADA
CC: THE WORLD CUP COMMITTEE
CC: RINGO STARR
CC: LADY GODIVA

I propose we build the Hall O' Fame in Kingsford.

Kingsford has been footballin' in the WC since the third installment of the contest. Also, Kingsford rocks. It's like the greatest nation ever. Better than those darn Rejistanians, because in Kingsford we speak the English. Bah!

So anyways, I propose that we build the Hall O' Fame in Kingsford. My buddy Jerry has a great plot of land in Northern City. Currently, he has his business on it, but we can bulldoze it no problem for the Hall O' Fame.

This is my building design: Ok, picture yourself in a boat on a river, with tangerine trees, and marmalade skies. Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, a girl with kaliedoscope eyes. Cellophane flowers of yellow and green towering over your head. Look for the girl for the sun in her eyes, and she's young.

Sorry. What I meant to say was that we have the words Hall and Fame on the opposite sides of a big freakin' O', and the O can be the doorway. So it reads: "hallO'fame." Pretty rad, huh?

Also, we'll have a Wendy's inside the museum, because that would rule. And we'll have a big freaking inflatable Penguin outside. Inside will be the hall O' fame. Also, in a white room with black curtains near the station. Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings. Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes. Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment.

So therefore, I conclude my bid for the Hall O' Fame. Vote for me! WORLD CUP RULES! YEAH!

Henry Tuck
