hollow world

Hollow world is as it sounds the inhabitants live on the inner wall of more or less balloon like planet gravity holds them there due to the 6 moons circling hollow world . The sun unlike moons however is located on the inside of hollow world . In all other aspects hollow world is just like any other planet except for space exploration which is done by a combination of mining and grapling as the ships are needed to be held on against the gravitational pull from the moons as of yet no ships have been launched but this will change in the near future ....

As I understand orbital mechanics, this wouldn't work.

If something on the outer edge of a Dyson Sphere (that's what you've got here, a Dyson Sphere) could get close enough to hold the stuff on the *inside* against the outer wall:

1) the tidal forces would tear the outer wall to shreds in no time flat

and

2) the orbitting bodies would crash into the outer wall.

Don't mean to be a pain, but the physics is a tad off here.

:) :) :)

I know this and I do not care this is based on an alternate universe where such physics are unaccounted for so I would kindly ask you to disregard this rather obvious fact and go on about your own business as you no idea who I am and I do not care who ever you are

I dont get it, is Hollow World artificial? if not how was it formed?

OOC: If a Dyson Sphere is impossible, and Star Trek had a Dyson Sphere on one of their episodes... Star Trek isn't infallible! I feel safer already!

Another reason it is impossible is that the sun would never go down. The eternal noon would bake everything inside to a crisp until there is nothing left but steam and molten glass.

yeah hollow world is is a construct I know its not logical it doesnt need to be you people are just fixated on its flaws I mean really what difference does it make to you . Oh and by the way as the entire thing is a construct that means the sun is too and as a result it doesnt always produce light so could you people please just give it rest and grow up its a freaking fantasy setting for crying out loud

can you just focus on the actual content and keep an open mind and stop nitpicking i know ts not perfect its a work in progress i am open to some ideas
Uriv

You want content?

We've already made it clear the entire hollow world concept is impossible for (at least) two basic reasons, plus another since you added orbitting bodies. Other than that, you didn't really give us any content to comment on.

Although Rittia is being rude about it, good grammar and punctuation does help you get respect in forums. That rule can be applied universally.

Ok thank you for not taking anymore shots at the concept sorry about the grammer I need someone to edit my stuff before I post it . As for the content well I havent had much of a chance as people keep on taking shots at me but if you will desist I shall continue .

Any way on hollow world most of its inhabitants simply accept the fact that they will never travel to other planets even tho the very planet they inhabit was constructed and that they were themselves or at least there descendants were put there by someone/something else . However a few people of hollow world have decided that this is just plan old boring and have taken steps to change this by tunneling their way to the outer edge of the planet and constructing what can only be described as a vessel intended for space travel . the crew for the maiden voyage are a 26 year old technomage named Tarken , a 71 year old war veteran named joseph , a female librarian named Isabelle , and a 23 year old (in dog years) dog named franklin . The crew are set to depart when joseph gets back with his "special supplies" .
"This is getting boring " said tarken " how much alcohol can he drink in one week anyway "
"I know what you mean its not like hes never been without the cursed stuff"
said isabelle
" I mean he does live above a bottle store , why do you think he wanted to come on the expedition anyway "
" my bet would be the same reason a librarian and her dog would"

Some people are never happy I give you more content and then it just sits there ohwell I guess its not really important anyway anyway someone tell rittia to stop ripping ideas from air force one
Rittia

Wow, someone's done their research. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. If you think I "ripped the ideas" in my thread with Undelia off, you might as well keep reading it. You have to look at context as well. Blinded with rage, you perceive that I am a plagiarist because I had a plane with an executive on it hijacked. The similarity really ends there. The premise for Air Force One is an act of extremist vengeance, whereas the premise for my hijacking is actual misconduct by the executive in question, leading to betrayal from within, not attack from without. The only allegorical element I have deliberately included in the RP is to Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, as each has a person in government taking drastic action that they view as patriotic to prevent a leader from becoming too powerful. When you insult someone, be careful. The insult kills surgically, not through aimless striking.

Hollow world and technomage.....lets see..........

Sounds to me like a more fantasy type of place, so suspending scientific laws isn't a problem. It does seem a bit familiar....I was wandering where your inspiration came from? A rp product perhaps? And, how did the hollow world people find out that if they dug out they would find a universe?

As a geologist (or at least somebody with some knowledge about geology), i must say that a hollow Earth is impossible. Simply impossible, think of good old Moho and the other discontinuities...

... and this would hold true for any other planet as well :D

Hey I dont know what your on about killing can be surgical or you can rain down multiple blows on your opponent to beat them into submission by the looks fluxburg did niether that looked more like a simple slap in the face you get that tho if they offended you that much why not declare war on them seems only natural really someone pisses you off so you shoot them in the face or if that option is not available then you send you army to do the job thats alot of bullets ripping through his fragile skull

ok wisjersy good point but its already been discussed and decided that it is fantasy so no matter what planet it is it doesnt matter its not real its make believe you know like when you play with G.I joes or warhammer its fake false not real its a story

I would have invaded most annoying nations like this long ago, but he has the greatest defense you can have in the RP world: annoyingly bad diction. He writes in a style vaguely reminiscent of stream-of-consciousness, which I cannot stand.

I see that the willing suspension of disbelief seems to have disappeared around here. Anyway, it's an easy enough premise to knock into workable shape, if one assumes an artificial construct.

First, the net gravity exerted by a sphere on those inside is 0, as the pull in all directions is equal. As such, one needs another reason to make it work. Firstly, if we take it as a hollow planet, presumably artificial, instead of a dyson sphere, one will require a miniature and presumably artificial sun at its center. This will need a peak output of around 667.168 Petawatts (1.308 Kw/m^2 * 510,067,420,000,000 m^2) and will need to vary its power by time of 'day' and by 'season.'

In order to keep the inhabitants on the surface, the 'star' would need to exert a repulsive force. Similarly, an attractive force on the shell would be able to do a similar job, but it would be more difficult. One could of course, use centrifugal force, but this would only simulate gravity for a small area around the equator.

One would assume that the makers of such a construct are not necesserily the inhabitants. As for why it would be constructed, one could assume a long dead star, or a region of space near a super massive black hole such as Cygnus X1 or a dense star cluster producing radiation levels that would prevenet stable life except where shielded by an appropriately thick shell - cue the sphere.

A major problem would be the tendancy of anyone digging a deep hole to let all the atmosphere out, but one could include repair systems that prevent this, especially as 'gravity' in the hollow world would be vairable and centrally controlled.

Really you would ...... erm .... ah why . Dont get me wrong I apreciate your kindness but well why would you stick up for little old me?

OH and also thanks to lord atum its Responses and ideas and stuff like that which I need . So anyone (except rittia and other wannabe "critics" ) any ideas or possible story routeswould be much apreciated . And as a reply to lord atums statment about the hole being dug they have put in air locks as they went and also the exact origins of the world have yet to be decided ( havent thought one up yet ) any feed back on that would be swell .
