OK, this is gonna be the OOC thread for everyone involved in the 13 Hours till Sunrise RP. I still have one spot open, so if anyone wants in, Tgram me, and we'll talk. Post all your character info, plus any questions you have, here, and that'll keep OOC clutter out of the main thread. For those of you involved that don't know to much about cars, feel free to ask any questions, because I know more than a reasonable amount, plus I think some others involved do as well. I'll be posting my character info in a bit, but you all can start posting whatever you want right now. Hopefull, I'll be starting up the actuall RP Sunday or Monday, so it shouldn't be to much longer. So far, everyone involved:

Imitora (Robert Fortier, Hoot, Holly/Andrew Lutz)
Tanara
Tarlachia
Crazed Marines
Vastiva

Character info is basic info; Name, age, car (plus mods) any background you see relevant to include. Also, if your character is a memeber of a team, post the team's name as well. Thanks mucho, and I hope this one will go well.

Background: Fortier has been racing since he was 16 and first able to drive. He is the sterotypical young Imitoran play boy: Rich, good looking, and easily bored. His fascination with speed prompted him, at the age of 27 after leaving the military, to open Northampton Import Automotive Specialists, a Northmapton based tuning shop where he tunes and works on all his own, plus many other, cars. His current project is a turbocharged BMW E46 ///M3, but for this race, he'll be driving his built 97 Toyota Supra Turbo. His license plate reads -30PSI-, the maximum amount of boost the car can run. He loves music as well, mostly techno and alternative. If he had to have a theme song, it would be a toss up between Deepsky's Realdream, BT's Never Gonna Come Back Down or one of the mixes of Foggy's Come Into My Dreams.

Name: Thomas "Hoot" Gibbson

Background: Hoot has been Fortier's "partner in crime" since they first met in ICMC bootcamp. Always fascinated by pure musscle, Hoot purchased his Trans Am and started building it up a week after leaving the military. He is the co-owner of NAIS, and head supervisor of American Car Performance at NAIS. He is currently torn between tearing down the current LS1 and replacing it with a new LS2, or simply adding a supercharger to the in car LS1. Theme song would be Guano Ape's Open Your Eyes (Proud Like A God) or STP's Wicked Garden.

Name: Andrew Lutz
Age: 22

High Boost (22psi): 0-60 in 3.98, 1/4 in 12.301 @ 125mph, Top Recorded Sustainable Speed 200mph

Background: Andrew is the newest memeber of the "team", meeting Robert and Hoot when his family moved to Northampton from Celton 5 years ago. As of now, hes upgraded from a stock Integra Type R to a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. While he works for Robert, he really isn't paid all that much, and preferes to take on the show, and less of the go, aspect. Compared to Robert and Hoot's car, his 3000GT isn't all that fast, but it is fast enough to get out of its own way. His theme would have to be Infected Mushrooms I Wish (Skazi Remix).

Name: Holly Lutz
Age: 30
Picture: Clicky for picy (http://photos.allcelebrities.us/eva-mendez/big-photo/eva-mendez_0001.jpg)

Statistics:

0-60 in 2.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 10.35 @ 145, Top Sustainable Speed of 215mph

Background: Holly Lutz is sister to Andrew Lutz, and former girlfriend of Robert Fortier. She worked for the ICIA as an analyst, and found a love of driving after taking high speed evasion tactics and strategic driving for a requirement on a field assignment. She left the ICIA at a high rank at the age of 29, and used the money to buy two cars, an Audi S4 and a Porsche 996 GT2. Fortier convinced her to let him work on it, and it left a Porsche GT2 only to return as a full Gemballa GT2 EVO, tuned to run an extra 300hp. She races it rarely, and enjoys just cruising and driving fast in it. However, she has been known to run it in every now and then, and when she does, she dominates. Theme song, Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever or STP's Interstate Love Song

Ok, I'll put up the intro post tommorow. As of now, I'm gonna go do some real racing, so ya.

Great Galloping Gnus! You lost me on the specifics, but over all - erm.. WOW?

I have no idea whats under the hood of the Hexx1 or Spell Breaker. I don't build 'em, I just drive em. ( yeah, I know shallow, but hey not every body can be a gear head. I'm just a jewel thief..oh wait that was last week, this week I'm a secret agent... no that was last month...what ever, I'm just rich with a lead foot? )

Think you can catch me? Eat my dust!

Theme song: Danger Zone, or Dare

Now I just need to find the proper ladies fedora for those times when shes not in that sleek, blank faced racing helmet.

The Man
A brief overlook of the police that'll be chasing our fine competitors

Local: The Local cops are really nothing to worry about. Most drive a lightly modified BMW 545i or Audi A6 for a squad car, while the local HSCU (High Speed Chase Units) usually drive a BMW 330ci. The SUV units usually drive in Mercedes ML430s. The thing that racers need to watch with local police units is that they will, unlike the highway patroll that has unlimited jurisdiction, stop at nothing to catch the racers in their own jurisdiction to get a capture bonus. This means going as far as blocking of entire sections of highway, shooting at the racers, or attempting to crash into them.

Highway Patroll: The Highway Patroll has unlimited Jurisdiction over the nation, and can chase anywhere they wish. They are more logical, and more cool and collected, than the Local Police units. However, they are also better trained, better equiped, and know how to stop long range, all out races. They drive Mercedes Benz CL55 AMGs, BMW 645ci's, and some use Ducatti Monsters. They also have two air units, each consisting of 17 Shinseki Aerospace MH-22Is and 12 Shinseki MH-60Is. They also have two Gulfstream IV SPs. With the IHP, the racers really have their work cut out for them.

Yeah, I know I said I'd get the intro up tonight, but I just cant get inspired, bleh. So I'll post in here again, see if I can get it. *Notes-Changed Fortier's ride a little, wanted something a bit more flashy than the current model up.

The Night Life
What To Expect in Imitora At Night

Imitora really comes to life at night. Unlike many nations that show off what they have in the day, Imitora lives on the night life. Clubs, street and highway racing, malls, high class and theme restruants, all of them literaly tripple and quadruple their buisness when the sun goes down. Durring the summer, the nights are a little bit cooler than the days, with an average temperarture of 85 degrees. The sun starts to set around 7:30, and it is officially dark at 8:00pm. The sun starts to rise around 8:30, and is usually up at 9:00.

On the weekends, those not hanging out in one of the many goth, trance, or rap dance clubs are either in the parking lot of said clubs showing of their cars and trucks, or at one of the nations many coffee shops or all night juice bars or dinners, showing of their cars or relaxing. More than one Starbucks has complained about strict laws against loitering, claiming it hurts business. Often parking lots are just as full as the restraunts and clubs.

The highways are almost pieces of art. They weave intricately through the buildings of the many cities, some even going through the buildings. They often stretch four lanes wide, some going up to five or even six. They are well lit at night, and traffic is usually light to moderate with clubgoers, racers, and police

The racers will be focusing mainly on three cities: Northampton (Start/Finish), Vernton (1/4 mark and 3/4 mark) and Ft. Watson (Halfway point).

I'll give a description of the three cities in the morning, and hopefully by then found my muse to write...

Are we allowed to shoot back? (built in concealed vehicle mounted weaponry any one? - shades of IADA - International Auot Duelist Association )

and wonders if paying off the local thrill seeeking kids to create cop absorbing distractions would be a good idea. They can't chase you if they are busy doing something else...

Well, the only reason I know about the Veyron is I have friends who are deeply involved in racing, and are usually really close at hand when my boss hands out the companies free tickets... which I get some of by rank... :D
Tanara
16-05-2005, 08:24
A standard Veyron gets hideous gas millage - sounds like you are going to need those dual fuel tanks.

Oh of course. Stopping to get fuel would be simply.... common.

Well, now you have me laughing loud enough to wake the cats.

There is one question I do have to ask - how does it handle the twists and turns. This doesn't sound to be straight away racing, and I guess it would be ever too wretched of Mercy to steal Usman's car.

Now as far as price range goes I think that the Hexx can match you there as this is a totally custom created car, it didn't come out of any manufacturers stables.

The body is a composite of 'frozen smoke', kevlar, carbon fiber laminates and ceralloys, and intergral computers with a variety of onboard sensors with hud display.

The use of 'frozen smoke' as part of the body& other parts where appropriate keeps it from being trackable with infrared, saves the heat trail the tires lay down.

:p

The car is supposed to be able to handle a 90 degree turn at 120mph. That it goes far faster... well, this is an upgrade with improved handling capabilities and far better tires and suspension, but it will still be interesting.

Moo? Oink? ;)

Let's see... no kevlar.. we have carbon-fibered alloys, a minimal of steel... plastic and laminates where possible... the engine is hybrid, partially ceramic, partially metals... I mentioned the computers. Our IR pattern is minimal, and the body is UV-absorbative, so it shows up badly there... however, its not invisible by any means.

Well, infrared would still show your exhaust if youre using gasoline in any form... smoke is hot.

And Usman has any idea what a grocery store is?

But of course - you go there to pick up wannabe jailbait, if the mall is closed. Particularly those who want to be, how you say, cool?

What, people actually buy food there? How very interesting.

top speed: ??

The following is from an online convo with Imitora:
However, rip it out, and drop in the Z06 LS6, its making near 385hp at the wheels. With some basic modifications (exhaust, headers, intake and software), your looking at about 425ish. Toss in an agressive cut cam, some cut outs for the exhaust, and port/polish, your looking at near if not better than 500hp. Stroke it to about 3 tenths of a litter to make it a 6.0L V8 with a racing head, its gonna be 550 easy, maybe 560 at the wheels. Rip out the interior, make it a tubbed out race car your gonna weight in aorund...shit, my IE just crapped out. FOr arguments sake, we'll say your wieghing in at around what my TA weighs in at, and with that much power, I'm thinking 11.5 1/4 mile. Toss in some nitrous, up the compression a bit, put in a good six speed...I say you could run it out to about a 10.5, maybe lower.

Mercy tilts her head, and gives the puppy a 'look', then shakes her head minutely.

"Wannabe Jailbait? Grocery stores?...Cool? What ever gave any one that idea. Why pick up something from a public emporium, might have something catching, and no idea where its been. I wouldn't know about buying, much less eating, any food found there, but apparently the 'great unwashed' do."

*Looks at Vastiva's Car*
Fortier and Hoot procede to point and laugh at the man that needs a W16 to compinsate for small penis. Further procede to shake their heads at the pissing match between Mercy and Usman. Fortier notes Usman's appearence, and has the ICIA and INSA put a watch on him. He'll have to outrun more than the cops now, he'll have to outrun satalites!

Tanara, with the first car, it really depends. I need some more info on the engine its using to get a real indepth idea of it (size, compression, displacement, etc.). With the Cien, I'd just say use Cien stats, its a pretty beastly car, and the numbers are impressive.

Tarlachia, stats look good. I can give you any info you want, just ask away. Looks like the kinda guy that'll get along with Hoot real well.
Tanara
16-05-2005, 16:52
"Pissing match? Nope, thats a male thing and I'm all woman. However, the car his daddy bought him is pretty awesome, you'll have to admit. Maybe he'll get one of his own someday when he grows up."

Mercy puts her hands on her hips looking at the two apes laughing

"And Fortier using your pull like that, shame on you. It's going to make it harder for all of us. And very unsportsmanlike."

She raises an eyebrow at Usman "Moo? Oink? No those are baryard sounds, something you should be familiar with." She gives him a cheeky grin "Now stables, it's the soft whicker of a fine blood horse, went for a million as a weanling at Keenland, and now about to win the third leg of the Tripple Crown. Horse racing, rightly called the Sport of Kings, and more expensive than car racing."
Imitora
16-05-2005, 17:12
"Impressive, yeah, I guess. And no, you are definately NOT a man."

Fortier ignores the scolding and in his best Vin Diesel impression says "Hey, ask any racer, any real street racers, and he'll tell you, a win is a win, by an inch or a mile" Hoot and Fortier, being like two 15 year olds, burst out into laughter again. Andrew just looks on in confusion.

On a more serious note, I finally found a Supra befitting of Fortier, I'll add Holly's profile in a bit, and I will have the intro race thread up tonight, as I've been watchin the Mischeif 3000 trailers all day long. You should all watch them, just to see what your going to be dealing with, which includes guys in Ford Focuses purposely rear ending the higher end cars and jousting each other(out of boredom), and guys running around jumping on the hoods of cars and what not. There isn't a real prize for finishing first or anything, the entire event is about having fun. *In Allyson Hannigan Voice* Its gonna be soooo cool.

"But Fortier, I don't consider myself a street racer. I don't live my life a quarter mile at a time. The most important things in life take far longer than a mere 60 seconds. And who's in it for the money? Not I - I'm here for the thrill."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is still the OOC Thread, is it not?

And Imitora, two questions: Do you have MSN? If not, I have AIM and Yahoo. Telegram me with the contact info, and I'll add you. I'd like to be able to talk to you about the thread and stuff.

And, I would like more info that would help me with car stats in terms of racing stats, for the three cars. If what is there already is good enough, just let me know.

At least I know a few driving tactics that can be used in this thread! :P

actually, for my understanding, I'd like a set of stats like what you see for the Shelby, for my other two cars. Anything else you want to add in will be fine. Thanks :D

Well, now that that's cleared up...
Vastiva

The Driver

Usman Jalil ibn Shu'aa na-Daanish Mash'al

Son of one of Vastiva's infamous Trade Delegates, Jalil has way too much money and time on his hands. He's part of the diplomat suite and figures the red band on his passport puts him so far above the law...

The spoiled brat actually has racing experience: He finished first in the last Dubai Challenge Series, placed in three Gumball Rallies, and gave a solid second place his first time in the Monaco 5000 Street Track. At 21, he has five years experience in all sorts of climates and conditions – though his “official” record has him starting at 18.

He’s also a seriously arrogant prick with a flamboyant attitude, technophilia, and a Bondian taste for beautiful women.

The Mechanic

Zeker ‘Biff’ Guzman

A bit of a legend in street racing, this 38 year old is best known for having nothing approaching culture – and having managed to make a pickup truck move at 220mph to win the Bookmaker 750 fifteen years ago. Shortly afterwards, Biff dropped out of racing completely, supposedly to retire. He showed up at a few races, was spotted at a few more, but kept his head completely out of things – until now.

General reputation – he’s a ‘Good Ole Boy’, usually greasy, unorthodox, talented. If he’d stayed in racing, there’s no doubt he’d be designing his own engines now.

The Car
(http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/04/veyron03_02_1024.jpg)
Modified Buggati Veyron-SE - Silver and Royal Blue, purrs like a kitten, and runs like a jet - a present from "Daddy" to keep sonny boy entertained and elsewhere, this car makes it's ancestors proud, with 75% the weight due to advanced materials used in it's construction and a carbon-whisker "crash cage" built around the passenger compartment. The tires are solid Vastivan "Icehaus" construction, immune to blowouts (and being fired on won't do anything to the tire).

We won’t even mention what happened when Biff got his hands into her… it’s disturbing on many levels.

Top speed of 300+ MPH (sustainable), Zero to 60 in less then 2.6 seconds, zero to 180 in 12.9 seconds, "Suprajet" dual fuel tanks, computer controlled shifting and advanced HUD "look ahead" displays, and Vastivan "MalWeather" handling, this is the car to watch... and catch.

And good luck trying.

At a cost of 1.2 million USD base, it's not likely to see something in this breed at this competition.

Just a note - the Suprajets are pressurized tanks. Which means they hold about 125% capacity each.

They're also set to CASE should they be pierced - or the car hits something immobile - which will cause large booms out both sides, leaving the passengers uncooked.

Such an event on both tanks will, however, destroy the usefulness of the car.

If the self-sealing mechanism doesn't work, the back end of the car is... going away, rather impressively. Note, it would take an impressive collision to get to the tanks through the hardcage, but it is possible.

Ok, George, we'll ignore how "Unlimited Credit" can be superceeded, and all the nice jibes in these last posts.

Cute, really entertaining.

We'll get on to how Biff is working for Vastivan Intelligence (HSI), and there's no way in hell any local yokel is going to have any tech able to track that - or even know he was there. We could go into how that tech being used has baffled and passed by some of the best and brightest nations out there, but that would be a bit much.

And the untracability factor is because the connection was physically severed in another RP - so there isn't any connection to be had, or traced, or alluded to. And you're still hundreds of steps from connecting Vastiva to anything.

So, your uberpeople just got handed a "we don't know and if we did know, we couldn't find out if we wanted to".

Needless to say, I'm really waiting on the edge of my seat for the next "trump the players" move out of you.

Yep, really. Swear it.

Ok. As of now, we have on rather large e-pissing match on our hands. We have rahter absurd numbers being thrown around, people getting pissed off OOC by IC actions, and everything else, so I'm just gonna step in here, and clear some stuff up.

1) Vastiva, I've had complaint(s) from the other player(s) regarding your uber Bugatti of d00m. I'm not saying who, its there call to coem forward. I would like to ask, however, that the one who hasn't complained yet (at least not to me), dont come out and say it wasn't you. I can't force you, but Im respectfully asking you to remain quiet.

In the telegram, the other player stated, and rightfully so, why they didn't understand why I didn't ixnay your car at the start. You showed up with a purpose built, all out race car, that is claiming rather rediculous numbers, and using technologies which I doubt, with all do respect, that you can explain. It used to be a rule of mine that I dont accept tech that the user cant explain. However, I'm letting that go for this thread. What I'm saying is is that you have destroyed, with your uber mobile, any challenge. Yes, the numbers I'm showing for my cars are rather low consindering you can go buy almost any of them from a used car lot, but those are also very realistic numbers that have been put down by the same vehicles. Hell, Fortier's Supra is just a mix of the Top Secret (thats a tunning company) GT500 Supra and the Ex Vi Termini Psycho Supra. Both of which make well over 1000hp at the crank (note the difference between wheel and crank HP). And they both run on pump gas. Tanara came to me requesting an engine suggestion for her car, and I suggested the quad turbo version of the AMG Bi Turbo V12 in the Chrysler ME-412, which is supposed to run on pump gas. Yes, it is the 91 Octane 2.50 a gallon gas, and its a big f'in gas tank, but still. However, all you did was post a link to how stuff works about a Bugatti, say that yours is umpteen million times better, and leave it at that. I'm not going to ask you to tune it down, but I will say that with the general set up of Imitora, and already planed events that will be happening, dont cry foul when your uber Bugatti of d00m and destruction and all king of all that is awesome gets put into a situation I doubt even it can handle.

Then you get upset when my characters dont act impressed about the car/money. Well, I cant really appologize for that, becuase they really wouldn't be impressed. I think what you fail to understand is that in Imitora, just about everyone has a good sized chunk of change. It takes more than throwing down a credit card, or, with all due respect, some real weak ass game, to impress my characters. So, I appologize if you got pissed off that your character got shot down or dissed on or in any way insulted by one of mine. But if your gonna show up with your uber mobile of d00m, then I'm gonna coutner with some characters with attitude.

Further, I recieved note that someone got pissed by Fortier's attitude. Again, I'm sorry if you got miffed by one of my characters, but thats who he is. Right now, he's dealing with two people he doesn't trust (and it takes a bit of talking to to get into his "circle of trust"). By the end of this thread, you'll like him, trust me.

Now then, lets try to take this out of the realm of who can think up better numbers (which I will win, not becuase I'm the one running the RP or becuase Im a great bs artist, but becuase I actually work on cars and know what it takes to get great numbers for everything from 1/4 to skipad to exhaust decible levels) and bring it back to the level of a character driven race RP. That way, everyone is happy, and things flow smoothly. If you notice in my last post, I tried to set the tone of the race with the little Andrew incident. If you read that, and chuckle to yourself when doing so as I did, then you'll note that this is meant to be somewhat light hearted and fun.

Now, as I stated in the first post, I will state again, if you have any questions regarding ANYTHING; cars, characters and their background, info in general on Imitora, why the sky is blue, what I do for a living, what I look for in a girl...sorry, got distracted... instead of assuming what you think should or should not happen, just ASK. You might be suprised how much it would help you if you do.

I will be posting in the main thread later which will include the start of the race, but I just started a new job today (well...not really...its hard to explain), and something in this job that wasn't supposed to happen till tommorow decided it wanted to get done today, and I need to be there shortly to help get it done.

EDIT: If anyone reading this still wants in on this, just tgram me and we'll work something out. I'm always willing to accept a new player into an RP.

However, all you did was post a link to how stuff works about a Bugatti, say that yours is umpteen million times better, and leave it at that.

It's a car, dude.

It's a car off the rack, with an improved body, cage, and additional fuel tank, made to pressurize whatever it runs on. This isn't a "purpose built race car": It's a million plus dollar penile extention Buggatti has been bragging all over the place about for - what, three years?

If you believe it is "umpteen million" times better, well, sorry, no. It's lighter, has more gas, and if and when it crashes into something the driver and passenger are that much more likely to survive and not burn. If that qualifies as "umpty million" in your world, so be it - I'm here because you asked me to be here and because you asked me back. If you think I'm going to play n00bish "well, my supercar flies to the end and I win tah dah!" games, I'd ask why you requested me to be here twice.

As to Mr Complaint - Grow up. Or better yet, first have something to complain about. Or talk to Imitora about how a race of this sort has less to do with the car and more to do with the driver.

I'm not going to ask you to tune it down, but I will say that with the general set up of Imitora, and already planed events that will be happening, dont cry foul when your uber Bugatti of d00m and destruction and all king of all that is awesome gets put into a situation I doubt even it can handle.

So, like, its going to be a role play and not some rolling of dice for who can go fastest, right?

It's a fast, impressive, expensive car. Get over it.

Then you get upset when my characters dont act impressed about the car/money. Well, I cant really appologize for that, becuase they really wouldn't be impressed. I think what you fail to understand is that in Imitora, just about everyone has a good sized chunk of change. Goodie. So far, I've noted a gas station attendant whose used to seeing huge numbers - the comments on being asked to walk something out were just classic, particularly after making Biff out to be a grease monkey - and a blonde who could have been NPC fluff, but was suddenly the gf of another racer. Whoopie. Alright, so we're not playing for comedy or building up the oafishness of a character, so be it - we go from a character in "The Gumball Rally" to something more serious. Fine with me, it's an RP, and that's not a problem.

Bluntly, that would take a bloody miracle.

Now then, lets try to take this out of the realm of who can think up better numbers (which I will win, not becuase I'm the one running the RP or becuase Im a great bs artist, but becuase I actually work on cars and know what it takes to get great numbers for everything from 1/4 to skipad to exhaust decible levels)

Don't care. The numbers I'm showing came off Buggati's site, then ran past an engineer who adjusted for the carbonwhisker frame and general weight reduction. Techwank is boring as hell.

and bring it back to the level of a character driven race RP.

It was something else?

That way, everyone is happy, and things flow smoothly. If you notice in my last post, I tried to set the tone of the race with the little Andrew incident. If you read that, and chuckle to yourself when doing so as I did, then you'll note that this is meant to be somewhat light hearted and fun.

You're contradicting yourself here, stylisticly. "Light-hearted and fun", characters get away with all sorts of idiot shit because it makes it comedic. That hasn't happened. The tone has become "Dark City Race".

Sorry i'm late, finals are coming and I just got off suspension from school! But that's a story for a later time.

Racer: President Mike Kowalski, on vacation with wife (Lauren Lutz Kowalski) after the recent Civil War.
Car:
http://www.carsource.co.uk/used-photos/large/W/M/WM03GDY.jpg
Called The Silver Sub, it is essentially a sports car Mike and Lauren made together. It is purely built for speed, using two old submarine engines, an Allison transmission, and three spots for a liquid rocket in the back. On a test track, it hit 225 mph! Needless to say, it is less than street legal, but who cares...HE HAS DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY AND A WIFE WHO IS CONNECTED! Anyways, the car does not run or reqular gasoling, it uses an 85-15 mixture of diesel fuel and alcohol and the rockets use liquid hydrogen fusing with liquid oxygen. The rickets, however, are limited to only fifteen seconds of burn time before fuel is expended.
Armoring: The car body is made entirely of quatranium (special CMDC patended aloy) embedded carbon fiber. The frame is titanium along with some steel. The glass is actually quatranium with a special current running through it to put the atoms in a line similar to that of a diamond or quartz.
Stats:
*Recorded top speed: 216 mph
*Estimated top speed: 245 mph
*Overall weight: 2100 lbs
*Horsepower: 650
*Rockets: 3 for 15 seconds each, only adds ten mph and not used in most speed runs--Mike is very skeptical of this system
*Features: Power steering, power brakes, self-sensing lights and windsheild wipers, sleek and aerodynamic design, safety unsurpassed, rear and forward engines (only way to fit it in such a car), and overall good looks.
Overall Price: Only 75,000 USD-and that's mainly because the body and engines were pricy.

We're here for a race - is it a Gumball Rally, or for some prize, or what point for doing this?

What sort of resistance, what sort of "alert" do they have, what sort of traffic, weather reports, road conditions, and is this an "all at once" or by times out of the lot or how?
Imitora
22-05-2005, 21:15
Weather, and road conditions when on the road, are fine. Its the standard Imitoran, night, cool air, not to cloudy, full moon. Temperature is low 80s to mid 70s, and may or may not remain so. As usual, some forcasts call for light rain, some say it will stay fine, and others say the end of the world is comming. It really depends on what report you get.

Traffic, for the first part of the race till they leave Northampton, is pretty heavy, with lots of ducking and weaving in and out, cutting gaps that really shouldn't be, etc. Chances of breaking out of the 80-90mph range are slim at best.

I just posted the start of the race, so as you'll see, its one of those "who can get out of the single exit of crowded parking lot first" starts.

Alert the cops have: At first none, they dont know whats going on. But they arent stupid by any means. Meaning before they even get to the 1/4 way point, the cops would have figured out whats going on, and radioed ahead.

The racers, well, the only alert aout cop presence they have is radar detectors and or police scanners.

Your racing because you enjoy racing, no other reason. No prizes, no monetary value, no trophy. Maybe for the next one, we'll have some sponsors to cover for prizes and such, but for the first anual 13 hours, the prize is not getting caught.

Anythign else?

Yeah, I just dtole the pic off the net. The car's length is approx the same size as a real life C5 Corvette. Almost all the excess space is for fuel. Also, Quatranium was developed using 2010 tech and is simply a blend of Tiitanium, steel, Tungsten, and Aluminum. It is approx 10x more durable than Titanium because of the alloy and smelting process, yet retains the weight of regular steel.

So really, its just you being unfamiliar with my stuff.[/sarcasm]

Tanara
23-05-2005, 02:44
The curve is one I'm familiar with here in Houston, on the Sam Houston Tollway, north bound there is a badly done exit onto the new West Park toll road, it sweeps three lanes off to the east with no warning. If you are in the right hand lanes you are s.o.l. to get off of the exit curve in any sort of traffic. ( I needn't mention that since they've gotten the lanes weaving like drunken snakes there's been an accident in the area nearly every day.)

Throwing something at my windshield is quite dirty. Evil, you could even say.

So let's put the paint where it belongs - you started it. And we've moved from "simple race" to "extremely childish" to "someone is going to die off". That's what you want? Alright, fine, lets see how getting blown up satisfies you.

Imatora, at this point, you've increased it to "pulls twin Ingram Mac-11 .45s and blows all of your characters away."

This has gone downhill all the way to "sad".

I'm ignoring the crap, and moving forward - Your "team pile on" is getting ridiculous, and its becoming increasingly obvious you want to showboat your characters (and Tarlachia's - hello complainer). Fine - then don't ask others to perform in a race.

This thread was meant to be light hearted. Really. You, however, took it over, and tried to turn it into a game of who could come up with the most uber of all cars, and then piss everyone else off. I asked you back becuase it was my impression that you were a good RPer, and that we could use your presence. I was wrong. You have basically made it so that everyone else is pissed off, and that you can do anythign you want to anyone elses car, but the second someone even looks at yours wrong, to bad.

Second, if you look at the first set of characters in the OOC posting (mine), you'll notice something. Its full of technobable that your ignorant ass can't understand. However, its real. Those are real numbers, real products, real everything. I personally have worked on and driven cars with products ner identical to those, and know exactly what they are capable of. You are like the little rice boy in teh Honda Civic (no offense Dan) with a fart can who saw The Fast and The Furious to many times, and now thinks he can be an awesome uber street racer by making shit up. Yes, Tanara made up some things, but she also backed it up with real, true to life numbers, and no bull shit about an uber car of doom. You did.

I'm sorry taht you feel the need to turn this into a "PAY ATTENTION TO ME" thing, but hey, thats a personal problem your gonna have to handle. Oh, you might want to talk to people who really do street race, find one who thinks its ok to send a van full of kids spinning out of control to block some one off...

So in closing, I'm gonna ask again, tone it down, or bow out. Peace.

Peace.

GREAT! So this is "let's all bow down to Imitora"? And here I thought it was a race... silly me.

And we're not in reality, we're in Nation States. You know, where my nation is so cold all the time, solid tires are a necessity? Where carbon fiber usage is common? Where the tanks I'm using are normal because of weather conditions?

As to the whole "uber car of doom" shit - stick it. The numbers came off Buggatti's site, so they're as "real life" as they get. Can't take it, stuff it.

I could care less about your racing background - it's obvious enough you know next to nothing about running an RP, considering how personal you've made it that you and yours run out on front. Well, yippie skip.

Next time, advertise the damned thing as "I want to show off" not "I want to have a race".

<snip> "pulls twin Ingram Mac-11 .45s and blows all of your characters away."<snip>

Actually, after seeing your characters attitude, I was considering doing that, but then I toned down the firepower on my guy. A quartz/diamond windscreen is going to do a lot to a dozen or so bullets when the relative speed of impact is an appreciable fraction of local lightspeed, isn't it?

On another front, I think that everybody needs to cool it off and just sped down a moment, stop the vicious infighting between characters, and take out the police barricade. Are there any expendable NPC racers? I've got an evil plan.

I'll get the stats up fo Damyen once they're finished, but he's riding a massive three wheeled motorbike as opposed to a car.

Actually, about the roadblock....I was planning to use the self-jacking mechanism on my car as well as the rockets to jump the roadblock and get most of the cops to come after me while everyone else takes a backroute.

I was planning to use some nitrous and jump it, so who should go first?

You can go over first if you want to, I'm quite fine with that.

I'll go first...I have some Speed Racer quotes that need quoting.

LOL you two, I'm just going around it.

Now I do have to say to the charge that Vastiva's numbers are made up - I did follow the link and the info is there - it's pretty damn scarey numbers wise, but they are there- the links goes to several pages as the site goes in depth on the buggatti - it's one of these 'how things work sites'

Character attitude - well it's his character and up to him to play the character as he invisions him.

It's also the preogitive of the other character to gain a complete and unchangeable dislike of the character.

and a light hearted 'warfare' between the racers might have been one thing, but too many of the characters personalities are too intense for this I think and thus it has gotten out of hand.

I'd like to think that it could be salvaged but it would take group effort by the players. I don't know how people feel about this.

{Its also the perogative of the players to be resentful when another player brings in a car theirs truly has no chance against- but thats not what I am trying to discuss - it happens in RL and we've all had variations on that theme happen to us}

I do also have to say that the quartz / diamond windshield is Crazed Marines, not Vastiva.

I put a big assed engine in the car but not for the reasons most would expect.

I'm a huge fan of the Cannon Ball Run movies, and the semi mythical "All the Way Cross the USA" races - I figured this would not be a straight line highway speed fest, but where there would be such dangers as nuns on the run, car jackers, the cops with the private vendetta, the semis who've decided that anything smaller than they are acceptable targets... - lots of dangers one can not run full out around but must enlist smarts, skilled driving and a good car under you.

And yes, CM, I place you as the comedic relief - it sounds as if you and Lauren need a good laugh.

Uh, my windshield is NOT quatrz/diamond. It is regular armor with an electric current that aligns the metal's molecules similar to the way a quartz or diamond molecule would line up. So its not really diamond or quartz, and there is a way to knock it out...just knock out the battery and/or alternator.

Lol...I try...a little
Tanara

lol okay, its not really quarts or diamond

( though a diamond big enough to get a windshield out of would be interesting to say the least )

and nice description on the jump.

Actually, a diamond windshield would be feasable if you used Cubic Zarconias...however, with all diamonds it will be very hard but brittle (kinda like my personal life).

23-05-2005, 20:02
LOL refuse to comment on your life - and did you know that diamonscan catch fire?

Diamonds burn in pure oxygen at about 1320 degrees Fahrenheit. In air (which is about 20% oxygen), the temperature raises to around 1560 degrees Fahrenheit

This is you NS random fact of the day.
Crazed Marines
23-05-2005, 20:15
WELL DUH! Diamonds are just carbon, and combust (not burn because no water is released) to create CO2. And that joke was just because I'm the "comic relief"

260? That's pretty freakin fast. Sorry about getting the windshield mixed up, I assumed it was with the Uber car of d00m. There wouldn't happend to be any handy sheets of wood or steel just in front of the barricade at a good angle for a ramp would there? If not, I'll just have to improvise. Can I blow up a squad car?
Crazed Marines
23-05-2005, 20:41
use the busted christmas tree (squad car's roof lights) as a ramp. It's pretty much dislodged by now, and that cop's probably going to take cover after what I did.

Passing on the message below from Imitora to everyone in this thread:

hey, do me a favor, things have been real busy at work, and I just havent been able to get on NS. I'm about to hop on to read some stuff, but I dont have time to really post, so could you just hop into the OOC thread, and mention something about everyone holding off on posts for a bit in the IC thread till I explain the new direction the thread is going to take.

Ok everyone, Im on my lunch break right now, I just want to say, just a till I gt on a bit later, everyone, please stop posting. We're comming up with the 1/4 point, and Tanara had mercy suggest a good idea, that we all stop and hold up for a bit while we (IC) get everythign resolved. Also, when I get a chance, I'll be posting in here about the new direction this thread is going to take. It shouldn't be to long, we don't have a ton of stuff going on at work right now, so I might be leaving a touch early.

I lay awake and strap myself in the bed with a bullet proof vest on and shoot myself in the head<-cant get past the classics.

Ok, time to make a few changes here. First two ground rules that I think need to be stated, but weren't.

1. No killing cops. No blowing up squad cars. No infliction of death on the Imitoran police, local or nation, at all. Unless it is done by me, or you are given explicit permision, you cannot kill any cops.

2. Read rule one. Replace all police refrences with NPCs. That is rule 2.

Now, some info that may influence your next posts:

As stated, the Imitoran police are not your standard every day college drop out pot belly donut muncher whose harrasing the racers becuase they are two lazy to try to find real criminals. These guys are mostly exmilitary or better, and is some towns, they dont even have cops, but the town hired a PSC to work as law enforcement, and have been selected specifically to stop street racers. These guys aren't gonna back down easy, and infact, will probably push back harder when pushed. Police powers in Imitora are near unlimited, and at the same time, there is no such thing as diplomatic immunity. Diplomatic immunity is hopefully knowing someone up top that'll help you when the shit really hits the fan. And I mean *high* up. Not the chief of police, more like the head of the Imitoran Justice Department. Further, the police departments aren't underequiped and over worked, save for some of the southern Imitoran departments. While they're squad cars and HSC cars arent fast enough to hang with the faster racers, they still have top of the line equipment and can really put the hurt on the racers taht dont have serious money in their rides. They aren't driving 16 second crown vics, more like mid 13 sec BMW 545i's and low to mid 12 second 330ci's. They are well armed, and being exmilitary, most can shoot very very well. Further, the race cars can probably out run the air units speed wise...but the air units dont need to follow roads. Again, if you want to do anything to the cops at all that will really mess things up, please, ask before hand.

For anyone who needs too, my MSN is thirtypsi@hotmail.com and AOL is Totallynotamused.

Ok, now the important part. As you can see, based on a slow start bitch fest, things have gotten very very hot. As of now, the racers would be very smart to not run, but hide, and for a long time. However, they will be finishing the race, and will continue to drive. I would suggest that everyone who has the means to (i.e. having a radio or something) follow Mercy into the town (at the 1/4 point), and this way, the racers can figure out what to do. Right now, the cops are about to go balls to the wall on this thing, and with the accidents so far, might request a decleration of SOE (State of Emergency) with the race, and get the Homegaurd units of the military helping them out. Its gonna become more than just a "who can get from a to b and back to a" first, but a run for life.

I'm still deciding wheather or not I want to bring in anything like drug trafficking or gun running or something like that into the thread, I dont know yet. If you all have any ideas, shout 'em out.

Tanara, I am having the police more heavily involved, it will be in my next post. Also, it is going to come down alot to drivers skill. However, I wouldn't use the Cannonball run movies for inspiration, but instead the Mischeif DVD (Mischeif Invasion, Mischief Cannonball Run, Mischief Players Run, Mischeif 3000, Mischief Dynasty) or the Getaway in Stockholm serries.

I'm working on the next IC post here, might be about an hour before its up, I dunno yet. Need to get my inspiration and what not. Like I said, dont expect this to be an easy joy ride, while humor will still be included, its also going to become somewhat serious. Look at it this way: if it all works out well, there will be more races like this hosted by yours truley, and will become better with each one. Make it anual kinda thing.

Sadly I've never heard of theses - will do some googling.
