These styles effect how many goals are scored in the match, the more defensive the two teams the lower the goals and vice versa. Of course Rank plays an important role here.

Starblaydia's In-Progress Under-21 World Cup FAQ

What it is:
The Under-21 World Cup (U21WC) (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Under-21_World_Cup), run by Total n Utter Insanity (TnUI), is for the younger Football (or 'Soccer') players of nations and uses its own ranking system. It is a good place to create and mould your World Cup players for the future, plus it's fun as scorelines can get quite high. The U21WC is seperate from the 'official' World Cup and does not count towards KPB Rankings (any more) as it is considered unfair for Networms with too much time on their hands to gain a substantial advantage over those who enter only the World Cups. Thirty-Two nations send their youngsters to TnUI every two years (going by the accepted norm that World Cups happen every 4 years, as in real life) to compete for glory.

In the grand scheme of the Nationstates World Cup the U21WCs start at the end of the WC Qualifiers and again at the end of the WC Finals, giving two U21WCs for every WC.

How it Works:
The thirty-two teams are divided into 8 Groups of 4, designated A-H. Each of the top Eight seeds are 'given' their own group, so the best teams are not able to knock each other out at the Group Stage. In this Group Stage, each team plays the other three teams in their group once, and the top-two go on to the Second Round where it becomes a straight 16-team knockout competition. Not only are the 1st and 2nd placed teams decided in the Final, but Third- Fifth- and Seventh-Placed Play-off Matches also occur.

Styles of Play:
The U21WC is almost unique in Sports Roleplaying as it allows teams to choose their Style of play from a list of six which will then impact upon their performance. You can choose a style to suit your nation's footballing-mentality, to match up performances with the formation your team would use, or perhaps just picking the 'best' Style to work the scorination system, the choice is yours, you must merely pick one when signing-up. The styles (and their basic effects are as follows:

Roleplaying:
Roleplays in the U21WC have a huge impact on the Championships, although not in the 'usual' manner. Using a special system called Roleplay Ranks (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/RPR), which increases your rank for the next Cup with every RP you write, a consistent RPer in the U21WC over a number of cups can easily rise to the top of the seedings over a period of time, much faster than can be dreamed possible in the World Cup ranks itself.

"The RPR-system was developed by Total n Utter Insanity as replacement for both the ranking system and the system of RP-bonus. The ranks for one tournament are determined both on the performance as well as the amount of RPs in the previous cup. This means, that the RP-bonus is delayed to the next cup and newbs have difficulties doing well in their first cup. This kind of system didn't suit the World Cup as each cup lasted well over a month."

Roleplaying in one U21WC also has the benefit of automatically reserving you a place in the following Cup.

The nation of Blessed Restraint enters a team into the U21WC. Coached by the former Steel Shadows (3rd in an ancient WC Look it up) Striker Liu Zhang, they have an all out attack style predicated on speed and power. Offense is our defense as the team has won the adoration of millions in the home country.

The team, called Esteemed Fury, is making its first foray into the realm of international football, in an attempt to garner more funding from the notoriously cheap government.

OOC: I wonder why Pacitalia's ranking has DROPPED by one despite the fact he's been RPing his tail off, while mine's gone up by three ranks?

At least I don't have the burden of number 1 without winning. (I know it sounds wierd but to be honest I don't want number 1 without winning at least one tournement... it seems hollow).

And I lose two spots again. Gotta love it. This time were going to switch to NOR, since ATT just gets me creamed and doesn't go very far.

How come the ranks are so different between U21 and the actual WC ranks? Just wana know. I'm starting to feel what SO used to feel, and stopping myself from saying anything ill is getting a touch harder with every Cup.

But, best live with it and hope for a better seed setup next time around, and a good dose of luck.

They use different systems, KPB and RPR.

RPR has a high RP Bous to ranks. Your lack of RPing along with everyone else RPing their butts off makes you fall.

KPB has higher performance multiplers.

The Liamist States will send an U21 side who are rather fond of attacking.

The Caprine States will scramble together an U21 side since there's room. Might as well let the new generation practice, eh? And we'd be defensive.

In the Under-21 World Cup, RPing increases your rank for the next cup. There is a limit to this, a point at which you post so many RPs that you max your bonus and cannot gain any more rank increases.

Whereas, in the World Cup proper, RPing increases your rank for the next game. World Cup 22 had a miniscule RP bonus, which probably led to it being the least-RP'd tournament in recent memory. RPing does not equal wins, ffs, when will you people realise this?

Sorry I've been a bit of a bitch the last few days with my posts. Between studying for final exams, getting in major papers handed in, getting my car repairs paid for and NS, I feel like I've taken some of the stress out on you guys. Sorry.

But in the bolded statement, no one can argue. My 1st cup I saw Star and Sarz do it and I guess that's how it caught on to me. I know there is a degree of not RPing enough, but TnUI is right... too much is Spaaming. I'll Eizen the next Cherry Cup to see if anyone notices. :p

Yeah, great, I was sick with various things for 12 weeks over late March - mid May, so you're not the only one. I don't seem to have complained much about that. Plus, now, I'm extremely busy studying for government exams, attempting to graduate from high school with a maintained good average.
