The team is really composed of the Blessed Restraint B football team, known as the Duelist Elites. They play an entertaining style of "offense is our defence" football, and hope to bring that expertise to the hockey rink.

They are more a team of finesse, with speed throughout the roster, hoping to outmanuever their opponents. Every goal is accompanied by a loud and raucous celebration as they have a flair for the dramatic.

They are seeking to pull off an upset like that of the Jamaican Bobsled team in Cool Runnings, bringing soccer to hockey.

The team is really composed of the Blessed Restraint B football team,

I bet you plan on letting them score all their goals with their feet too, right?

Ah well, no worries, I'll come up with something else. Unless someone else comes up with it first. Then I'll just have to use a team of polar bears, or something.

The Rittian National Ice Hockey squad will sign up for the Cherry Cup tournament, and would be honored to participate. We do not expect to fare well, as hockey is not very popular in our country, but we have some decent players in the amatuer league centered in Ozella. Our jerseys are yellow, with green shoulders/sleeve tops and a blue band around the waist, with a green triple diamond on the front center over the word "Rittia" and player's name and number on the back in green. We just had these jerseys made because we weren't planning on having a national hockey team until we heard of international play. We've selected the finest players from the amateur league and the coaches voted on one of their number to lead the squad.

We threaten to win a game or two before falling shamefully with the opponent scoring so high people think it's a pinball game.

We'll also bid to host Cherry Cup!

Rittia requests permission to televise all its CC XIII games, regardless of venue. There is little interest in sports in our nation, but government sociologists contend that this is because there are few sports played. We hope that by televising the games we can generate a groundswell of public interest in hockey and become an international competition powerhouse by CC XX.

Until then, our objective is to score a goal in the tournament.

The Old Grey Hare had a brief, emphatic, one-sided discussion with his brother Ruppert the Incompetent. Various methods of ensuring Ruppert paid more attention to editing in the future were brought up. Ruppert shuddered. It registered 6.5 on the Richter Scale.

We once played in the Cup as the Quebec Nouveau Annihilators, and we got to the finals of (I think, numbers escape me here) the Second or Third Don Cherry Cup before we lost by one goal. Now, we're back to lose by two goals! Or win...Mercaenarians like hockey because it reminds us of a game we played before we knew about hockey called Skurrey. 2 teams of 6 people line up on opposites sides of the ice, a meadow, whatever, and charge towards each other for control of a ball (sometimes a human head or a hand, sometimes a ball or puck in later times) and try to put it into a goal. Ful contact sport, of course. Now, of course, we don't use human heads or hands *looks down, mumbling*except for tournaments, and playoffs, and home games, and every other away game

My bid was that we have 12-32, 34 teams play.

Each team is ranked.

1. Kallait Nunnat (can't spell it)
2. Starblaydia
3. Robotopolis
4. FLP
etc;

And the rank that they have they are given the rank of a team in the NHL that ESPN NHL 2K5 has given.

1. Tampa Bay- Robotopolis
2. Calgary- Starblaydia
3. San Jose- whoever finished 3rd in CCXII
4. whoever was in the eastern finals against Tampa- whoever finished 4th in CCXII.

The games would be simulated by the actual game.
Example:

Tampa Bay- 3
Calgary- 2

Would be:

Robotopolis- 3
Starblaydia- 2

I call this the HC scorination system.

(all above will play a one game elimination in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals to determine the winner)

I am so glad I voted (along with my own rational to my vote) before I came to the thread today :p

I will say, though, I do have problems with all three bids for differing reasons - HC 'cuz the video game thing is slightly feared, Oliverry 'cuz there is still some concern due to CCIX and LE 'cuz I am not a fan of best-of-anything in a international tourney (unless we're talking home/home aggregated scoring) due to time.

But that's all I have to say

Try having your bid partner drop out on you after two games.

HC, there's no reason to insult the other bids. Compete against yourself, not the others.

I can't say I worry about Oliverry; I think he learned his lesson in CCIX and I'd be more than willing to sim his games for him should he win the bid. As for LE, that WCXXII mess was clearly not his fault and there's no reason to assume he wouldn't host a great cup because of it. I enjoyed participating in both CCVII (hehe) and CCIX and think that both hosts have grown and learned from whatever minor mistakes may have been made then.

And I'm working on the rankings right now. Should be finished soon. :)

I encourage people to go back and check on me, but I'm pretty sure these are the rankings. Mind that they're only based on CCXII; if you want something more complicated than that, you'd better do it yourself ;)

The LE bid is willing to accept both sets of rankings.

The HC bid will accept both rankings as well with open arms.

It would seem to me that to run the Cherry Cup, one would have to use only one set of rankings. How, for instance, can Very Angry Rabbits be 6th, and 9th? We would soon become Very Confused Rabbits.

I recommend we collectively adopt the rankings Oliverry did - because they include 2 cups. (perhaps we should add two tablespoons as well).

However - if most folks want to adopt the Iansilian Rankings, VAR is fine with that.

The Spruitland Icehockey Confederation (sic) would like to indicate their slight preference for the Oliverry rankings, since we're actually ranked there, albeit somewhat lowly.

We have also decided to nickname our team, rather inspirationlessly, the Spruitland Ice Bunnies. (Spruitland Ice Rabbits was another option, but we did not want to anger the Very Confused Rabbits.)

the host selection committee had its first-ever three-way tie in voting. after re-consideration, and based solely on the principle of letting as many people as possible play host to the tournament, it has been decided to offer the hosting rights to Hockey Canada. let no one say the cherry cup is afraid of taking chances!

since Hockey Canada has not acted as host before, the Kalaallit Nunaat Parliament has passed an official act, ratified by the Queen, asking the Chicanadian Hockey Association to provide an adviser on first-time hosting.

The jump from 24 to 32 is a "tradition" in NS RPed sports. This was to differenciate rookies from those who participated in last(lasts in my ranking's case) cup.

The IHCLE and the OHA would like to cooperate and put forward a motion to block Hockey Canada from hosting CC13, at least not by using a game. The game can easily be f1xx0red by taking over a particular team and 'playing' with it, plus, it doesn't take into account RP bonuses.

We would only accept the decision if a better scorination method can be found, otherwise the OHA and IHCLE would like to offer our services to host the cup.

Hockey Canadian Hockey...sounds like fun. Can I get a side of Canadian Bacon with that?

Seriously - let's not take this too seriously. It's all just a game. As far as someone being able to "cheat" because of the particular scorinator (is that really a word?) they use - think about that for a minute.

If I use dice, and you aren't looking over my shoulder - I can cheat.

In fact, in all the NS sports I've participated in as various nations (starting 2 years ago) I've never seen a scorinator that the host couldn't cheat with if he/she wanted to. (by actual count, 32 various tournaments)

WHY would you cheat? To win? A silly little on-line game-within-a-game? Where most of us don't really care about the scores and/or who wins anyway?

Bottom Line: Any host can cheat, and we can't stop 'em, so let the games begin.

HC - just do as good a job as you can, and we'll all tag along for the ride.

Options and add 2 teams (added from the Swedish league equivalent to teams in the NHL), 88 game season, but in this case it's tournement format.

I don't think we have the same game...

While I do think NHL 2005 would be a perfectly competent domestic simulator, i feel that with so much human interaction required in the cherry cup it is entirely not feasible to operate it through such a pre-existing game platform.

I just wanted HC to explain how the RP bonus is to be applied. YOUR answer doesn't work for me - it may be correct, but it doesn't contain enough information - or I don't understand it, one or the other.
