Red Island, Dersconi Sea

The Red Island is a small island in the middle of the Dersconi Sea, made entirely of sand.

Oh, right, there's observation bunkers for Strategic Air Command there, too.

High up in the sky -- actually, pretty much just under the sky/outer space boundary, was the Air Force's Prototype Second Stage Hypersoar II strategic bomber. On the ground was a sickle and hammer with a gigantic picture of Karl Marx, Lenin, and Mao behind it.

The radar array set up was looking up into the sky at this point. The Hypersoar was designed with stealth an saftey in mind. No SAM missile could reach as high as he was right now, but that didn't mean that it was okay to be seen.

"We got a blip, sir," a lieutenant said to his commander. The Major looked over the Lieutenant's shoulder and saw the very faint blip that appeared every once in awhile.

"Ah, this is the SPY III radar, isn't it?" The lieutenant nodded.

"Yes, sir, it is." The major shrugged it off.

"Well, nothing will ever be completely stealth, and that radar can light up a B2 Spirit like it's a 767, so I'm not too worried about it." He shrugged. "All tests complete?"

"Yessir. This bird is a nice one." The major nodded and got on the comm with the Hypersoar II

McCarthy, this is Capitalist Pig. You read me? The pilot of the bomber picked the code names and the target. He had an odd sense of humor.

I read you, Capitalist Pig. This is McCarthy.

Clean House, Joe.

Witch hunt, away!

At that command, a single bomb came out of the bomb bay, which was designed to be sliding doors for less of a stealth loss.

"Ack. We've got a blip," the LT said again. "Bigger this time, though." The major looked over. "Well, he is dropping a bomb right now, but it is so small as to appear as a bird, so I'm not worried."

Back up in the sky, the bomb exited the bomber, and the Hypersoar II left back to the SAC base at Vivolorsk. It was the bombs they were looking at, now.

The bombs looked more like planes -- which is what they wanted. They were smart bombs -- nuclear bombs, but smart ones all the same -- designed to be stealthy. Engineers has a field day over the assignment -- a nuke was much easier to make in a cone or an egg, not a plane-like object -- but it was worth it. The bombs came down with a blip no bigger than the seagulls flying around.

Only a seagull doesn't make a mushroom cloud when it hits the ground -- even with an Alcaselcer tablet. Everyone in the command bunker averted their eyes. When it was done, they saw the sand glimmering -- they quite literally glassed the island.

"Awesome," the LT said.

Up in space, the Cairo Orbital Defense PLatform was hovering over the island, just in case a spy satellite passed over, with orders to shoot it down at first sight.
