Short leap into the future... [FT, Technology]

Iuthia
10-05-2005, 04:20
Faster then light technology, perhaps the most important developement any race could make if they were to have any hope of expanding into the stars. To break the laws of physics as you know them and literally outrun the very light you use to see with, once a concidered an impossibility to the people of Iuthia, now it was little more then another barrier to break as science advanced at an alarming rate. Of course, Iuthia's allies had already mastered the technology some time ago... in fact it was in some respect those very allies who had helped them finally pass the last hump and fininally produce what Scientist General, Kristine Kale, had worked long and hard to finally complete, a working prototype of a Hyperspace Drive.

Various tests on the system had already been made for some months now, each result showing more and more promise as they refined the system in controlled circumstances. Each time the effect had only been a fraction of what would actually be needed to finally transport a fully laden six hundred thousand ton Carrier from spot A to spot B in the blink of an eye, each test giving them more and more information to work with and adjust all that bit more closer to the Hyperspace Drive which could acheive the desired affect without ripping the vessel through the shock.

The FTL technology itself was the main issue, but just as important were the safety systems which had to be put in place to assure that everyone would survive the process and be combat ready as soon as possible... many other additional technologies had to be developed, a key example being the dampening system which would keep the crew and hull in one piece despite the forces at work through the process. In some cases technology was bought from other allied nations to fill in the gaps, communications being one of them... with the ability to travel faster then light it was important to be able to send messages home in real time and not several years at a time. On the whole, it had been a long, long project, dating back to the first ships Iuthia had developed, before James deGritz's time.

Now everything was settling into place nicely as the first real test of Iuthia's first Hyperspace Drive was gearing up to take place in the heart of the Solar System, high above Iuthia in space itself, a long distance away from Earth itself.

The drive itself had been installed on to one of the two Iuthian Carriers, Bolivar's Pride. The vessel had a small complement of fighters and corvettes on board to provide a proper test scenario, though human presence on the Carrier was limited to a skeleton crew of vounteers. Among them was Scientist General Kristine Kale herself, who's very career had worked up to this moment.

The mission itself was rather simple... a relatively short distance away, across the solar system itself, was the Dominions very own space station, where the Iuthian support vessel, unimaginatively named the Devras had conventionally for quite some time now, made its way to the station and now awaited the arrival of Bolivar's Pride to provide any support should things go a little awry... though the Scientists really didn't think that if something would go wrong the vessel would help too much, it was more to better understand how the test went. Of course, Iuthia's allies in the NDA, who themselves were fully FTL capable, were informed of this test and the date so they could bail the vessel out should it mis-jump.

So, with baited breath, Bolivar's Pride left the scaffolding station to the test site, where observers would watch the jump and analyse it from this end.

Message from the Mirfakan Alphin to the Iuthian government:
Mirfak will, with the permission of the proper Iuthian authorities, dispatch a division of the fifth fleet to monitor this historic test and provide any backup facilities they can in the event of a problem. The Socialist Republic is always excited to welcome new nations onto the galactic stage, and though Iuthia has been a player on the field for some time, this hyperspace advancement is an important step in their growing influence in the galaxy and power as a state. I believe that this may also be the time to open a formal diplomatic dialogue between our nations.

We would like to offer our thanks for your generous offer, as we understand that while our tests thus far have been successful, they were all conducted under controlled conditions with much less matter... the potential problems that can occur are risks we have deemed necessary and acceptable for the gain we would get should we succeed.

After taking your proposal to the our fleet commanders to concider, it has been discussed and we are sad to say that we cannot accept such an offer from another nation we are not allied to or familar with... our militaries concerns are that basically down to the fact they aren't comfortable with a non-allied force using potentially armed vessels to offer assistance during this vulnerable period of testing. This is why we have informed our NDA allies of our testing so that they may properly offer assistance with their own ships, as well as to help protect our technological assets.

However, we are not opposed to some of your people observing the test at at the start with the rest of us... such an observation would be limited however as we don't like the idea of large military forces being present at our testing.

Thanks for your interest never the less,

Message from Alphin Horatio Reanix to Foriegn Minister Mick Lakely of the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps:
I understand your hesitation completely. The Fifth Fleet is a general reconnaissance division of the Labule, not equipped for combat on any substantial scale. Still, in the interest of preventing any potential diplomatic conflicts I will refrain from sending any government or military craft to your testing site. It disturbs me slightly that you are suspicious of a state with the Socialist Republic's level of integrity and peaceful record, but I am confident that you have good reason for your concerns considering the nature of your test. I hope that your department will pass along my wish to open diplomatic channels between our nations to the appropriate authorities in your government, and that I will hear good news from you or your colleagues soon regarding that request. In the meantime, please accept my best wishes and hopes for the complete success of the Bolivar's Pride mission.

Acknowledged. Will have the Exitialis squadron of the Nex Necis fleet on standby, located along several points in case assistance is needed. We forese no problems so far as security goes. There seems to be a few 'events' in the works in several sectors, but nothing that should interfere with your initial testings. Your contact is Contrammiraglio Bartolomeo Canetti. He and his squadron are at your disposal.

Warm regards and best wishes for the success of your tests, and the safety of your crew.

"Bolivar's Pride, this is Fleet Command, come in Bolivar's Pride." The transmission came from Scaffolding Station, Iuthia's only space station and the birthplace of the largest ships in the Iuthian Fleet. Large enough to be seen from Earth without the aid of a telescope, the station floated in high geo-synchronous orbit above Iuthia's most northern regions... were it not for the fact Iuthia was close to the equator it wouldn't have been possible at all.

"Bolivar's Pride reading you load and clear, Fleet Command, we're in position now and have begun the charging process." Meanwhile the Bolivar's Pride had made it to the test site, a little distance away from Earth now mostly due to safety precautions. At the moment it was being escorted by several Assault Frigates and a couple wings of fighters more there for show then practicality. Also present were several Iuthian non-combat ships designed towards observing the Bolivar's Pride and making sense of the test data.

"Roger that, Bolivar's Pride. We've just got word from home that they are ready for you on the other end, Giancarlo Torino of the Dominion sends his warm regards and wishes you luck. Over."

"Understood, Fleet Command. Send them our thanks. Over and out."

Tensions were high on board the Bolivar's Pride, even the majority of the crew were unable to grasp the the sheer reality of the event about to take place, they knew full well that it if it went horribly wrong there wouldn't even be any bodies to be collected, the energies involved would kill them instantly... a quick death at least. One person, however, did understand exactly how much could go wrong with the quantum waveform they were about to produce, she understood exactly how inprecise, on a scientific basis, the priority interrupts were for the system, how they literally just ripped the ship out of Hyperspace should the computers detect any irregularities in the waveform affect or the hulls integrity, or should an gravimetric anomaly present itself.

Of course, Kristine understood fully well that by all predictions and prior tests pointed to what should be a successful trial, the safety systems were deemed more then capable of keeping the vessel as safe as they could be concidering the method of travel presented. There were always risks, but they were calulated risks which were felt to be acceptable concidering the benefits this technology would provide.

Potentially 2'500 light-years in one jump, they had said. Obviously they simply didn't have the power capabilities to even a fraction of that and the mounting possibility of mis-jumping and arriving a long distance away, or not even arriving at all were too much to even concider taking a risk for. But it was possible, their requirements didn't need anything more then a fraction of that but it gave them something to build up to in the long term...

Kristine sighed, going back to reading her book, laying in her spartan quarters and concidering the possibilities to come without dwelling too much on what could go wrong.

The intercom made it's annoying call and then spoke out to her: "Scientist General Kale, the Hyperspace Module is fully charged. We're ready for you up here on the bridge."

"Thanks, I'll be up in a moment."

While we aren't entirely happy that you 'accidently' intercepted and de-coded Iuthian military transmissions we feel that for the most part your nation didn't mean any harm so we won't take it as an insult that out privacy was invaded. Instead we'll take it as a sign that Iuthian military trasmissions need to be upgraded to Non-Democratic Alliance standard.

In responce to your request, we feel that it's possible for a diplomat to be permitted the oportunity to what Iuthian history being made in the process, however we feel that it would make us feel much more comfortable if your diplomats watched the test from an Iuthian ship, your diplomatic vessel can dock with our Scaffolding Station and we will accommodate your peoples needs and greet you with our own representatives.

I must note now, however that the Benevolent Dictatorship of Iuthia isn't currently seeking additional allies, or at least, not in the binding sense we are used to. At this stage we know very little about the Shadowy State of Snake Eaters and we will need time to concider any such possibilities... an alliance is alot to ask for at the first meeting, we are a cautious people.

Never the less you are welcome to view our scientific progression providing you are willing to put up with our precautions... other states may not entirely understand this entirely, but they clearly do not understand Iuthian culture well enough if they are surprised at our security measures, this is too important for us to reduce our security in the name of diplomatic relations.

Thanks for understanding,

The Bolivar's Pride, an aptly named Space Carrier of the Iuthian Fleet and concidered to be one of the most powerful vessels in the Fleets arsenal. It's history was a relatively dull one up until this point, providing space coveraging over Iuthia and around Scaffolding Station where it was constructed (like all capitol ships in the Iuthian Fleet) it's entire perpose is to carry, build and maintain Iuthian strike craft and give Iuthia a certain degree of force projection. The carrier could hold up to fifty Fighter class craft and around twenty five Corvette class strike craft... a powerful force by Iuthia's standards.

Now, however, it was changing it's role to that of a prototype FTL capable vessel, the first real test for the latest in Iuthian technology the Bolivar's Pride would make a significant jump from near Earth orbital space to the outskirts of the system near the Dominions space station. It would truely be the pride of the Iuthian military if the test suceeded as it was expected to. With the Hyperspace Module fully charged and ready for the test, it was just a matter of making the final checks before everything was set into motion.

A few observers had been permitted onto some of the Iuthian science vessels on standby near the test zone, not close enough (with any luck) to be in any danger but not far away enough to be unable to watch and understand the action.

"How is everything looking Commander?" Kristine asked, looking over the mans shoulders. So far everything was running according to schedule, all systems were looking good.

"We're just finishing up the final checks on the redundancies, so far everything is running at optimal efficiency and we're looking like we'll have... oh wait, there we are. Green Light, Scientist General."

Kristine sighed, concidereding the moments ahead of her, could these be her last thoughts? Would she be hailed as a champion of science or an utter failure? Only time would tell.

"Very well, Commander, inform Fleet Command of our status, we're ready to initiate the drive anymoment now."

"Aye, Sir"

The bridge was utterly still in this last moments, everyone unsure of the outcome, even through all signed pointed towards sucessful test.

"Fleet Command reports everything is ready on their end, we're clear to go at will."

"Very well, Commander." She turned to the rest of the crew in order to adress them, the ships PA system had been turned on for this moment and recordings were made. "I know alot of us are anxious about the test we are about to initiate, hell, we wouldn't be human if we didn't feel a little uneasy at the prospect of having ourselves thrown into Hyperspace for the first time. But remember, that no matter what happens we will have made history... we will be remembered in history as those who dared to advance Iuthia into the newest age of technology, and no matter the outcome we will be concidered heros, that much I can assure you.

"So hold on to your seats, we're about to rip Einstein's theory of relativity a new one..."

Perhaps not the most rousing speech in history, but it sure put smiles on the faces of the Iuthian men and women on their stations. "Activate the Hyperspace Drive, Commander."

Outside of the ship, what could only be described as a window of space being forcably opened had appeared just in front of them, gleaming blue crackling energy, the rift slowly descended on the ship, engulfing it before the entire vessel had dispeared, along with the rift. Not a sound was man, but the effects for the onlookers was still as spectacular as ever...

Stage one was complete... all they needed now was to hear from the other side.

We have detected a ship we believe to be yours making what we guess is a hyperspace jump. If that is so, we welcome you to those who explore the Ages using ships. If it is not, let us know and we will have one of our warships destroy the vessel. Please note this is not a threat of war, but simply making sure technology does not fall into the wrong hands.

Having recieved your message I can't exactly express my feelings towards what I feel I can only describe as some kind of demand from us by your government.

Yes, this vessel is ours, however I'm not entirely sure exactly how you can really tell the difference between most nations Hyperspace movements... my assumption is that they do not all inform you of their movements, especially in the Solar System which is perhaps the busiest system in the galaxy from what we understand of the universe at this time.

So to have to inform you not to destroy our vessel looks very, very bad from our end, you have to understand. As to be expected, your nations communication to us has been passed on to our allies, who unlike Iuthia has very capable FTL systems and have for a long time operated in the solar system without informing other nations of their every move. While we aren't entirely happy we have to do this, we are appalled that our first contact with your nation in space has to be one stopping you from seeking and destroying our vessel.

While you may disagree that this isn't a threat, we feel that nations tracking all vessels and threatening to destroy vessels which don't identify themselves to your authority is a threat in itself, especially when it's limited to the Solar System.

As stated previously, our allies are being informed of the situation and our guard will be raised. We are not taking this as a threat of war but we do concider it to be a potential issue which we need to be prepared for... please, if you are going to make try and make first contact again, at least make an effort with diplomacy.

You will have to excuse my last communication.

We have no problems with nations not bothering to inform us of their movements. Typically, we track ships by their general configurations, and that is only to make sure they are not hostile to our ships and attempting a surprise attack. To be honest, the main reason we came to assume the ship is yours is the number of encrypted communications, which we will not bother to attempt cracking unless an imminent threat is around, going between the ship and your nation.

The main reason we are concerned in this case is not that it is your ship, but that it is your first ship. If it had been stolen, the ship would present a danger due to the fact that FTL drives, even hyperdrives if used properly, can turn the ships into deadly weapons of unmatched power, even enough to undo the protect being several miles beneath the Earth's surface affords us. If the ship had been stolen, that would mean we would have to destroy it to keep some terrorist organization from using it against anyone. As it hasn't, we have no reason to do anything except offer you a direction to explore in that we know has a few unclaimed colonizable planets.

We would normally monitor communications to determine if a threat is present, but encrypted communications are something we prefer not attempt cracking in case such an action would be viewed as more hostile than the contact itself is.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Your apology and concern is noted. We would advise you keep well away from from our vessel and in the future show a little more logic in your danger assessments.

These vessels haven't just appeared, they have existed in Earths orbit for a long time, all of which operate under the Iuthian military with no civilians involved... space hasn't become that sort of luxury to us yet. Regardless a little bit of research into your 'record' of vessels would have quickly identified Iuthia's vessel as a long term Iuthian Carrier, one which is six hundred thousand tons and well guarded by the Iuthian military above our planet. The chances of it being hyjacked this far into the Solar System are so minor that this entire incident could have been avoided with the proper use of logic... even the communication itself could have been more tactful. Furthermore, the chances of it being Hyjacked and the pirates having enough men and understanding to decode a new technology and operate such a ship would simply be impossible.

We will keep our vessels on alert until the tests are over as a precaution. While I'm confident this has been resolved, I trust that I will not have to further argue my point... this could have been avoided with a bit of sense.

Your ship has been found under a record of space debris. The person who filed it and the last one to hold this position have both been removed from their positions.

As per your request, we are keeping a twenty-five lightyear distance from your ship while it is out of system and 500 kilometers while it is in system until the test is complete.

OOC: Please excuse me in this. I'm still getting a handle of having moved from the gun-heavy DLE of the past into the more peaceful DLE of the present. You RP a nation of assholes too long and it begins to cause problems.

It was subtle, but to one like tyran who had been flying for years, it was unmistakeable, the sudden surge of the engines, the slight twich of the hull, it pointed to another hyperjump being conducted nearby, and with a nerby destination. of course, being directly wired to the ship's sytems helped. while the sensors brought in data, he wondered if the rest of the crew had felt anything, it seemed to take forever, but he knew it was mostly the computer resynchronising, he wondered if isolates experienced a similar feeing after hyperjump, he had heard that everyone handled it differently. for Linked, it was pretty standard, the hum of the drive spooling, then everything stops, and for a split second, all infinity extends before him, then the universe comes crashing back down to normal, exept he is now someplace different. Tyran had heard of the new series two drive, and wondered if the view was any better.
he looked around, there was an outpost not very far from his position, that at least meant an intellegent population had existed at some point more than could be said for the last seven systems,of course, depending on their skill at engineering and automation, they could be long dead by now. he sent a mesage:

hopefully, someone would be home, and they would be up for conversation.

OOC: I'd rather not turn this into a OOC thing so please don't reply to this as I have a IC thread to run and I don't want OOC stuff getting in the way.

The only reason I reacted like this, or even as much as I have to all these other nations is because Iuthia is, when you get down to it, a military dictatorship. It deals with things in a certain way and it's paranoid. The last thing it needs is a communication basically saying 'Well done, we want to make sure that ship is yours so we won't hunt it down and blow it up.' especially when it conciders the Solar System to be secure enough for it to operate in because of it's allies support. The comment about destroying it didn't need to be made and created alot of tension and came accross poorly, as it would with almost any nation.

Further more, the information about my fleet was readily available on my own threads and was actually hinted at in this thread (for example, the Carrier being one of two and being 600'000 tons in size). The threat your nation reacted to didn't exist and couldn't really happen, a little bit of reading (just this thread alone) would have helped to confirm this and could have helped avoid what is now a mild incident. It shouldn't result in hostilities, but it will affect future relations slightly.

Thats my OOC explaination... feel free to TM me or MSN me if you have any questions, not more OOC on this thread, it's IC history for my nation.

Gelfland: It's the solar system... transmissions probably ooze out of it and I wouldn't be surprised if you were buzzed by other ships leaving and entering it.

Tick, Tick, Tick....

Silence filled the room as Indigo watched the display before him. Only the sound of the great clock could be heard as his eyes were glued to the screen with intent. This was a great moment in Iuthian history, and one event he couldnt miss for the world. By far, they had most probably achieved what the Austarians hadnt even considered. And still even if they hadnt, it would be a far cry from the technological breakthroughs of scientists today. Watching, safely from home was the best thing to do. He was afterall interested in the development of his friends and allies, and the Iuthians had been there almost from the start of the Austar Union, and its eventual Independace Decree. Although perhaps such events were irrelvant to the Union directly, it was declared important to track allies and their movements through the physical realm of existance.

For now, it was the Iuthians time to be proud. Their first test into a new era would bring new hopes, new dreams to these people. Lord General James deGritz would have been proud, surely - despite what the results of this test would be. Anyhow, Indigo hardly wished to interfere in the affairs of the Benevolent Dictatorship, but rather watched the event through what he had available. Anything more was at the hand of the Iuthians, and theirs alone. This would be their glory.

"How many ships are up there? These people sound experienced. And, worse, by the sounds of things they are not alone," Disciple Orlahn, leader of the Maintainers, asked.

"Disciple, we don't know. It was only a random fluke that we detected this one. But, our ship in system estimates thousands. It's going to take us years to catalogue all we find. Worse, it appears that the ship temporarily jumped into the path of another, just barely outside of the system," Garahnah said.

Orlahn sat down, rubbing his forehead. Just three weeks ago he had been assured by the scientists of the Maintainer's Guild that they were the most advanced civilization to call Earth home. Now, due to them constructing all ships in the other Ages and not bothering to check the assumption, he had the task of telling the Council that they were not even close to the most advanced and that the entire system was full of ships. And not just ships capable of mild space travel, but entire warfleets. Worse, he had to tell them that his panic nearly started a war with one of those nations, one powerful enough to bomb straight through the layers of soil and rock that were D'ni's main defense and strike the city itself. And without D'ni, only Myst remained with Linking Books to all of the ages, leaving them without access to their homeworld.

"How many ships can we manage to maneuver to Earth? We might use more than the one in this system to help us with this chore," Orlahn said.

"Disciple, the closest out of system will take fourteen weeks to get here. The rest could take as much as a year. And that's not accounting for the ships in too far away to even attempt it. The only ship capable of reaching us in a short amount of time is the Gahrogahreesahn, and it will end up using up all of its power pearls making the jump and will require resupply when it arrives. Plus, I don't thing the others in this system will appreciate us bringing in a ship that big and heavily armed, especially when we just threatened to blow up another ship," Garahnah replied.

"Don't bother. The Gahrogahreesahn is on assignment. The closest ships will have to do. How many?"

"Disciple, the entire Fourteenth Fleet. That will put an extra fourteen ships into the system. But, that will leave six Ages without defenses in orbit. Maybe we should tell Iuthia the truth."

"Tell them what? That I lied? That I was bluffing because we just found out we're not the most advanced culture on Earth? Tell them that we have six hundred ships total, of which only one hundred are even within an attempt to reach us? Tell them I made all of it up in hopes they wouldn't notice we can't do anything? Tell them our only ship within this system is a corvette that only is here because the captain got lost? And that we had no idea what was up there? You honestly want me to tell all of that to an interplanetary empire with enough firepower to take out our capital before we could even send out a distress call? I may have just committed the biggest act of stupidity in our history, but I'm not stupid enough to let them know any of that!"

"I am sorry to interrupt, Disciple. But I must inquire if you meant for the Iuthians to get the entirety of your conversation in text form. It appears the microtransmitter was left on," Journeyman Fahrlehn said.

"Great. Why don't we just give them a Linking Book to D'ni and invite them in? Journeyman, deactivate the microtransciever," Orlahn said, waiting until it was completely off before continuing. "Okay, how far away from here did their ship go? Rough guess if needed."

"Disciple, I would say at least thirty or fourty thousand lightyears. I'm making a wild guess at this. Our ship in system wouldn't be able to detect them if they were on the other side of Jupiter. From what little information we could gain about their engines, those are powerful enough to take the ship farther than anything except the Gahrogahreesahn can even attempt. I would not attempt to even bother it," Garahnah said.

"Right now, we have other priorities. We have a very powerful nation I just threatened and then revealed us to be weak to. I want a defense prepared in case they decide to take advantage. And without the Council's permission. Get any important civilian personel out of D'ni and prepare the city to be in defensive mode. Have our ship watch for theirs. When it returns, I try to negotiate and hope I am not executed for this," Orlahn said.

Already the Iuthians had concidered that the situation was over with this new nations, their comments completely apologised for and for the most part any threat was seemingly over, the Non-Democatic Alliance forces on the other end of the system would undoubtably report in any moment now to confirm all had been a success and they had already upped their defences for the possibilities that another nation may try and interfere.

The rest of the communications? They were mostly ignored as background chatter in a system pretty much full of it, it was odd that they had failed to pick up the thousands of ships of different design each conducting their businesses of defence, transport and offence in the Solar System, they have somehow managed to miss the EM radiation equivalent to that of a million suns concentarted on the volume of a single system. Regardless, things were pretty much done and dusted with that nation... with any luck they woudn't try the same with another nations ship as Iuthia wasn't really the kind of nation capable of properly reacting to it, their ships mostly limited to the orbit of earth. Other nations on the other hand were very much capable of responding with much more then just words.

Meanwhile the transmission from Tyran's ship was lost in the sea of communications, the Iuthians had much more important things to concider and weren't actually capable of meeting with them anyways... their only FTL capable ship was in the process of testing.

OOC: I would have TGed this, but I was hoping you could have asked in TG. I'll drop this. Expect a TG with some possibilities in it later.

For a moment there was nothing but silence at the test site, everyone holding their breaths waiting for confirmation of the tests sucess. They had definately managed to engage their Hyperspace, so at the very least that had worked, though it had yet to be seen if the crew would survive the experience.

The support ship Devras waited patiently on the other end, escorted by Dominion vessels, the Exitialis squadron of the Nex Necis fleet flew around in the silent vacuum, scanning for potiential threats and watching the history in the making.

All of a sudden, sensors from the Devras picked up a distortion, slightly off course from the planned route laid out to them.

"Devras to Exitialis squadron leader, we have incoming hyperspace signiture, be advised and stay on alert, over." The direct communication was conducted on point to point narrow band transmission, while it wasn't standard for Dominion forces they were prepared to accept such communication.

It was a short distance away, perhaps several mintutes travel for the Devras though only a faction of that for the Dominion vessels, the distortion was now visible as the blue engery crackled around that secton of space. Shortly after, the Bolivar's Pride emerged, seemingly undamaged.

"Devras to Bolivar's Pride, please respond." for a moment they feared the worse, repeating their message to the Carrier as they made their way towards them, Dominion vessels were already closing on the ship and were now circling it.

"We made it..." a short communication finally replied, the famale voice astonished. "We actually made it..."

On board the Bolivar's Pride, a collective sigh of relief could be heard as each and every crewman and women started to check their body to make sure they hadn't lost anything on the journey. The test was a triumph for Iuthian Science, perhaps they cheeted a little bit with borrowed technologies from the Non-Democratic Alliance; but then, who didn't these days? In the end all that mattered was that they had finally produced their own faster then light technology, a proto-type drive that would finally start to be fitted into each and every Iuthian capitol ship with large enough fusion reactors to power the technology.

But first, the information would need to be collected, analysed and compared... they were still several years away from being a fully FTL capable culture, but it was only a matter of time before Iuthia could reach out to the stars. Already Mars was under concideration, with assistance from nations such as Aelosia whom had been more then generous in their offers.

All around the Carrier, the small skeleton crew of the Bolivar's Pride cheered, shaking one anothers hands and hugging the person next to them in congradulations. Further tests would be conducted when they returned to the Scaffolding Station for a victorious return to Iuthia, where they would be heralded as heroes of science... but for now they all looked forward to a celebration on board the Dominions space station, god knew they all deserved a drink.

Iuthia was now, finally, part of the Intragalactic Community.
