Snake Eaters

Lord Barbarossa sat at his desk, reading through his papers one last time before the assembly began. His wife came through the ornate double doors, and placed her soft hands on his shoulders, trying to kneed some of the tension out of his shoulders,"Relax. Everything is going to go great"
"I hope so, Sara. I hope so"
She went round to the other side of him, and knelt,"I know you are nervous. Snake Eaters' has always been fairly isolantionist... but at least you have the vision to know we must break out of this"
He smiled. She always knew how to calm him down,"Come on, they'll be here in a minute"
He stood up, taking his jacket off the hanger at the end of the room. Grey Armani... he loved it, and it complemented his cool grey eyes, and his dark hair. Barbarossa had been tempered as a young man by the fires of war, and that insight was unique in the history of Snake Eaters' Presidents. Now, he was a politician... and one who had started to bring Snake Eaters' out of it's isolation. First had been his alliance with the The Queendom of Kaymiril, and The Eternal Domain of Warhaven. No word yet from The Empire of Balrogga. He smoothed the creases from his suit, checked his shoes were laced correctly, and then took his wifes arm, before leading her down the grand staircase towards the ballroom.
The assembly of the diplomats was to take place in his own house, mostly in the ballroom, but almost all of the downstairs was open to them. Only the upstairs was barred to the guests. The front door was guarded by the elite members of the Pretorian Guard, who could eliminate any threat faster than than most people could even recognize it.
He checked himself one more time, straightened his tie, and waited.
