The news networks broadcasted such:

Aerion News Network <ANN>

"Today, a number of people were arrested for seditious activity. The office of the Lord High Marshal issued a statement that some of these men and women could have even been potential terrorists. "We are working to make Aerion a safer, more stable place for all following the terrorist attacks which resulted in the death of the Lord Chancellor, and the bombing which resulted in the deaths of the members of the Privy Council."

Aerion People's News <APN>

"Today, 5,000 people were illegally arrested in the central province, 1,000 of which were in the capital of Astevane. They were named as participating in "seditious activities", though the truth is these are people who were arrested were only arrested because they voiced their opinion about the self-proclaimed Lord High Marshal's dictatorial ways. These people, rightful citizens of Aerion, were rounded up and loaded into trucks which transported them to temporary internment camps outside of the city of Astevane. Sources say they are being treated similar as someone in the prisons would, being fed as basic as possible, and sleeping in cots. One must worry for their safety though."

Satellite photos would reveal a massive camp complex approximately 50 miles from the outskirts of the megalopolis city of Astevane on the until otherwise nature preserved plains. The camp spanned an area of at least 10 miles. Next to the camp was an temporary military base that would appear as if it were in the stages of being made permanent, and an large airstrip. It appeared train tracks were under construction, as well as an entire four-lane highway branching off one of the huge interprovincial freeways that ran across the nation and through the provinces to the capital city. As sources might report, and satellite photos show this camp appeared large enough to accommodate even 500,000 people at one time, though for now only the 5,000 had been arrested it seemed from reports by APN.

High above the Earth a metallic object swooped inwards, no longer preventing its 'fall' into Earth's gravity well. But it is, nonetheless, a controlled 'descent'; the vehicle, an Iluvauromeni MISATmk2c - a high-priority unit with defensive capabilities to protect rather sensitive equipment on board - is facing inwards, which is unusual in itself.

Intended for high-resolution long-range surveillance, this particular satelite usually faces out towards Mars, watching the length of the Earth-Mars Highway - for security purposes, naturally enough.

Today, however, a lesser satelite has swept into a new position to cover this particular one - in fact, several satelites have reorganised, which is fairly usual.

But the MISAT swoops inwards, now, capturing white light as it does; the light zips in through the aperture, focused by a series of liquid mercury lenses, and then is finally sharpened onto a series of bioelectrical 'rods' and 'cones' - mimickries of the humanoid eye, but improved upon in various ways.

The result is extremely high-definition images; thusly, the 'temporary' internment camp in Aerion is observed with the utmost care, at least for as long as this satelite is on this path. Each passing hour - the descent is slow - provides sharper clarity.

Meanwhile, another reshuffling occurs - another satelite of the same sort begins its arc outwards, preparing for the second wave of observation.

"What do you think?"

It was, in fact, an eminently simple question. One didn't need to be a rocket scientist to answer it.

But the man just stood there. Absolutely just stood there. Not a peep - at least five seconds and cou-

"No idea. Might merely be a kneejerk reaction. They might be about to gas them, test biological weapons on them - who the hell knows, these days? Hell, they might turn them into zombies and invade their neighbours with the supply. Frankly, sir, the world has gone insane. Went insane years ago. And it's showing no signs of changing. So, uh. No idea."

Ax-randiri Rihad sighed. "Fine," he muttered. The boy had no idea. Great. Useful, that. But he had made up his mind already; despite the current 'don't interfere' standpoint of the Commonality, this could be a situation that everyone would look back on and regret failing to respond.

At worst, something had to be said.

As...certain circumstances...meant that the majority of the Executive Council was, in fact, not present for Council, and, as he had the authority provided to make such a decision...

{TO: Aerion Government}
{FROM: High Lord Commodore Ax-randiri Rihad, Designated Spokesperson for the Iluvauromeni Executive Council}
{SUBJECT: RE: Unusual Activity}

{Communique commences:-

The Commonality is deeply curious as to the purpose behind allegedly illegal arrests of some five thousand Aerion citizens today, as reported both by Aerion and international media, and also indicated by our intelligence - at least as far as volume of arrests.

We are also curious as to the nature of what is allegedly an internment camp, presumably (allegedly) built to hold those arrested.

It is desirious that our curiousity be indulged.

Our thanks in advance,

The Iluvauromeni Commonality of Everlasting Light

TO: High Lord Commodore Ax-randiri Rihad, Designated Spokesperson for the Iluvauromeni Executive Council
FROM: Major Jagne Lamkan, Military Supervisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

"The Lord High Marshal has ordered a stricter policy on terrorism, and seditious activity within the Grand Kingdom of Aerion. Following the terrorist attacks which killed the heirs to the Royal Regency, and destroyed the Privy Council the Lord High Marshal feels such measures are necessary to protect the greater citizenry of Aerion. In a nation such as ours of 4 billion people, there are a number of such seditious persons. There were quiet a few arrested from the Greater Astevane Area, as there are 100 million people living within the megapolis area of Astevane. Those arrested represented a small number compared to the total 100 million population of the Greater Astevane Area. It has been determined that due to sheer logistics, a structured complex of prisons is necessary. Aerion's low crime rate due to our strict national ID policy, and public surveillance has resulted in few prisons being required however these structures are now required to be built as there are no pre-existing structures.

You must know that the official government of Aerion, as a sovereign nation, has the right to arrest those deemed as seditious and criminal for the greater good and stability of our society."

{SUBJECT: RE: Unusual Activity}

{Communique commences:-

The Commonality finds this response somewhat unacceptable. That is not to say that the action itself is unacceptable; we reserve judgement, currently.

To be quite clear, Major, Iluvauromeni Law states quite clearly that sovereign states remain sovereign to the consideration of this Council only wherein their citizenship are not at direct threat or danger as resulting from legislative/executive decisions and/or actions which can be clearly shown to be detrimental to the stability of a region.

It is clear that this Law is just, as it is indeed the responsibility of every government to protect its citizens to the best of its ability, either from their own actions or inactions or those of external forces. With this in mind, then, I note that the Commonality is curious only to the extent that it wishes to verify - with all due thoroughness - that the actions currently being taken by the Aerion government are wholly in the interest of regional, macro-regional, and global stability.

If this found not to be the case, the Commonality will consult pertinent allies regarding this matter for their input.

However, I only explain the processes involved, not the actions that will necessarily be taken should any clear determinations be made either way.

With all this in mind, then, we ask again: what is the purpose of the action taken? We seek only clarity, in the interest of justice and stability. Under what timescale were the investigations against the accused conducted? What rights are they being accorded? Are international conventions on the treatment of suspected criminals being properly followed? Would Aerion submit to inspection of facilities by independent foreign observers?

Furthermore, it seems likely that five thousand persons cannot be processed accurately or precisely or justly all at once; nor can five thousand trials be held in a single day, or anything like. Therefore, this appears to be an action that would place presumably unprecedented pressure on the Aerion judicial system.

This being the case, the Commonality expresses its concerns fully - and offers to provide judicial support with trained legal experts from the wholly impartial and independent Imperial Guild of Law and Order. We are certain that any differences in legal issues can easily be explained, and we are equally certain that their aid in such a strenous situation would be invaluable to ensure that justice is fairly and correctly administered. As a state with no vested interest in the outcome of this situation beyond the fair and due administration of justice, and the ensurance of stability for both the people of Aerion and the surrounding region, we note that we are in fact entirely neutral.

Surely, then, the offer of neutral judicial support is one in the best interest of the people of Aerion, and can stand only to aid in proving the validity of Aerion's recent actions to the international community.

"These people have prior records, and have been investigated.

We do not require any aide from you, we are a sovereign nation with our government retaining the right to manage internal affairs as we see fit. We have our own process by which to determine those being detained are subversives to our nation, and public security. These actions have no affect on anyone outside of Aerion. Our actions are for internal security only, and to remove subversive elements of society."

*Adulphus sat in his room again, pouring over old reports. The flickering fires of past missions that he'd helped in authorization still ripe in his mind. He never was really good at his job, but he kept at it all the same. All of a sudden an all too familiar blipping sound called from the series of Ham Radios, Satellite Receivers, and a few on differing computer screens. Listening in, he heard the following...*

[/Quote=Aerion] "Today, 5,000 people were illegally arrested in the central province, 1,000 of which were in the capital of Astevane. They were named as participating in "seditious activities", though the truth is these are people who were arrested were only arrested because they voiced their opinion about the self-proclaimed Lord High Marshal's dictatorial ways. *Shocked, he looked to the other screens. News reports, snippets of radio transmissions, and a tag on his satellite computer reminding him that all of this probably meant he should give it a check for himself. Hoping that their wasn't any interference or storms, he pointed the satellite in the general vecinity of where he thought this was, and sure enough he saw a rather small, but very existant camp*

"Arthur! You might want to see this radio chatter I'm getting!" He shouted. Being the Head of the Intelligence and Surveillence Division, Section 3 meant that he got top priority, and thus got a room at the Imperial Palace in Fredonan.

"It isn't another damn conflict over pigs or something is it? If so I swear to the almighty I'll gut you, right here!" Arthur answered.

"No sir! This is some sort of human rights issue here... 5,000 some people got locked up for voicing their opinion." Adulphus said, shrugging as the current Regent of the Court, Arthur Tren, the Prince's uncle, walked in

"Really? Well get in contact with the government. I assume these are your satellite pictures of it?"

"Yes sir."

"Good, update me on this one, I want to figure out whats going on. And you know how the last one of these went..."

"It didn't sir."

"That's damn right Adulphus, now make this one move, alright? Hopefully to a peaceful and acceptable conclusion."

Aerion People's News (APN)

"In recent reports we are receiving from our sources, the forces of the Lord High Marshal have rounded up a total of 40,000 individuals and transported them to the camp. The Lord High Marshal's office still claims they are arresting criminals. The train tracks leading into the camp we are hearing are completed, and the airfield. The highway is near completion. Several large planes transported some of the individuals in. The government has seized several large passenger trains for the use of transport of people into the camp. While our sources indicate the people are being "fed and clothed", they are being held within the walls of the facility."
