OOC Interest Thread - Wargames

OOC - Hey Guys!
Suitably cheesy greeting? I think so :D
Its been a while since I was in a decent RP, and to tell the truth im kind of bored. Now, I know on this forum I amn't going to get the sheer amoutn of RPers as I would on II, but I'd prefer a decent RP, so....
Well, I know it isn't the newest or most stunningly well-plotted RP, but I would like an RP to do with war of some sort, and I know how no-one wants a real war, as you can lose. But I would very much like to have some wargames, it sounds fun, and I have been in a couple. Not that they were decent, of course. However, I usually launch the RP thread straight away, but I thought it might an idea to get an interest thread going first, see if it would actually happen.
So, anyone interested? I would draw up rules later, but I just want to see if anyone is interested in a minimum plot, maximum action RP. The standards of RP would, of course, be high.
Well, I'm about to have a real war (with myself), but I can participate in some war games.

Sure, why not. Every conflict needs its comic relief, and we Goblins will be there.

I would be interested in taking part in some war games, should I send MT or FT troops? And what kind of numbers, types, etc.

OOC: Sweet!
Newbish Delight, if it's anything like the Training Day relief, this should be great!
I was thinking MT, and number of around 50,000 or so, with around 200-300 Aircraft and about one Carrier Fleet.
This would give you enough numbers to play with, but make any losses noticeable.
Any other's interested?

Well, the Combine is FT, but with Goblins it doesn't really make much of a difference since any tech advantages are countered by natural stupidity.
Brief breakdown of forces:
O.k.....50,000 people = about 250,000 Goblins (100 BladeGoblin commanders, 4900 GateGoblin Pilots with aircraft and ships (crew numbers), 20,000 Cunnin'uns, 35,000 Big'uns, 50,000 lil'uns, 120,000 TypcalGoblins, 20,000 assorted trolls/ogres.
And of course one GreatGoblin Prince (intelligent!) as General
Split into one hundred standard Goblin Regiments...
1 BladeGoblin (Intelligent!)
50 Cunnin'un infantry officers (relatively bright - Kersplode is a lesser specimen)
50 Cunnin'un armour officers
100 cunnin'un techies/clevvalads
350 Big'un sergeants/heavies/carryin' lads (pretty thick)
1,000 TypcalGoblin Infantry (really thick)
200 TypcalGoblin armour
500 Lil'un support (gun polishing, cooking etc)/gitindere lads/sneaky types) (not too bad)
20 Trollguard (Stone Trolls) (Trolls are quite intelligent, normally)
20 Troll Mechanicals (misc. trolls with a talent for fixing things, one of these for every five Cunnin'un techy/clevvalad)
20 Troll Support Lads (carrying lots of stuff, artillery gunners)
40 Troll Heavy Infantry
40 Ogre Heavy Infantry
20 Ogreguard (Ogres are quite intelligent, normally)
10 Ogre Cookmasters
10 Ogre Campmasters (who sleeps where, where the gate is, who has what shifts etc.)
20 Ogre Support Lads (see Troll Support Lads, typically one ogre and one troll forming one artillery team)

Pssh!
There are always more Goblins....there've been several studies on the subject and the result appears to be a new law of the universe (although it has been developed by Goblins, so it is rather suspect), which is the Law of Infinate Goblin.
And of course, you have yet to experience the wonder that is...Da Powa!

Okay, thanks. Will post a troop deployment soon (probably tomorrow), just as soon as I have worked it out.
Hmmm. In my military, those numbers work out as two full Corps, four air wings and a battle group. This could be interesting, especially with that many air assets.

OOC:
Air assets are vital in modern war, as you cant have a proper ground assault without them. However, these four air wings would be commited to Air Superiority, Fleet Attack, Ground Attack and other Battlefield Roles, so the numbers aren't excessive.
I'm an Artillery man myself, theres something amazing about it. Anyway, I'll see your numbers later.

I know air assets are vital, indeed they are my speciality (go my air force!), which was the point I was making. Given the choice I would send more air units, mwa ha ha ha!
Anyway, without further delay, the Free Eaglian Armed Forces will dispatch the following forces to participate in the war games.
'P' (Temporary) Corps
31st Armoured Division, 32nd Mechanised Division, 22nd Armoured Division, 18th Mechanised Division.
'Q' (Temporary) Corps
25th Air Assault Division, 44th Air Assault Division, 27th Air Assault Division, 5th Infantry Division
Independent Regiments
122nd Commando Regiment, 40th Engineers Regiment, 57th Rangers Regiment
8th (Temporary) Air Group
5th Strike Wing, 17th Strike Wing, 51st Close Support Wing, 100th (Temporary) Mixed Wing
And the Navy's Battle Group 1.
The 'temporary' bit just means the unit has been put together specially for the wargame, since there are no suitable complete units within our armed forces.
In total it works out as about 48,000 troops, just under 300 aircraft, and 34 ships.

I recounted my troops, it's actually somewhere between 50,750 and 52,500. The other numbers were right (it's 288 aircraft total). If you want, I can post exactly what aircraft types and numbers, as well as exact numbers for the ground troops.

OOC:
It's ok, as long as I know what each battallion consists of, so i don't match Paratroopers against heavy tanks!
As for the aircraft figures, ill boost mine a touch to get to 300, which would be fair.
I plan to start tommorow night, witht he mission brief etc.

Meh. Numbers and figures aren't that important. The Goblin figures are estimates, since they tend to change alot. The only really fixed numbers are the GreatGoblin Prince, the BladeGoblins and the Trollguard.
If your only concerns are numbers, II, story-based threads are much more entertaining.

OOC:
I know I'm a number guy, but I would like a fantastic RP aswell. I am changing to a loyal NSer after being in II for 2 years, I find it too crowded and the RP's low quality.
Once all the number drunching is done, the RP will get going! Can we have a quality RP with three people, more to join later, you think?

Well, I won't go into any more detail until it becomes necessary. Just to warn you though, a division may not contain just what it says, for example I have an infantry unit (not this one) which has an armoured regiment in it.
I currently RP in both forums, and the only numbers I (generally) bother with are how many troops I have, and what types they are. I don't give a damn about comparing gun size or weapon capability.
It depends how you plan on running the RP as to whether we need anyone else. If we have one more, we could run a two-on-two battle, because three ways tend to result in two-against-one's. Otherwise, there's nothing to stop us having just three. But you might have other ideas as to how you want it to run.

Yeh, I used to be techincal with my weapons, but can't be bothered anymore.
We could have two attackers agaisnt one defender, and with all those goblins, it should be interesting!
We shall see.
