LEH'MU, RASTABAN, THE HEARTLAND: "His Royal Highness Marquis Bronson Etain recently announced at a news conference (concerning his father's health) that he was looking to get married, but no bride was mentioned. A dew days later Bronson's publicist announced that there was no woman the Marquis of Evenshire, the next Duke of Leh'mu, had in mind.

But to ease eveyone's minds he will be seeking a wife from a number of women and encourages anyone of the rank baronet (or the equivalent) and above to contact him. Bronson is currently fourth in line to the throne, though it would be his wife who would actually be ruling the country (for only women may rule Rastaban)." - Rastaban National News (RNN)

Can you explain the women only ruling Rastaban? Also, does his new wife be on your nation's factbook on NSWiki?

Yes, I can explain why only women rule. :D Here's a clip from our history:

Six groups, or Houses officially founded the Tribal Land of Wyrms over 2,000 years ago. Each House was gifted in communicating with the dragons that roam the land and the magic the Guardians [think Elves, sort of] bestowed upon them. These six groups worked with each other to further their abilities and learn from the Guardians.

That was until the House of Azhdeha became greedy and wished to rule over the six Houses. Their leader, Lung'wa, decided that that he'd wanted to be the one with sole power. A council of six men, one from each house governed the Houses then and were elected by the people. Lung'wa felt that the House of Azhdeha should have sole say in important matters, for the founder of the House was said to be the one of two people first to be taught by the Guardians.

This caused unrest among the Houses. It finally came to a head when civil war broke out among them. The Houses of Draco and Anguis joined Azhdeha, while the Houses of Tiamat, Hashteher and Rastaban join forces. The final confrontation was the Battle of Tres, which included the Houses of Azhdeha, Tiamat, and Rastaban. It ended when Iliana Brimo of Rastaban struck Lung'wa dead using a primitive weapon known as an atlatl. (Iliana's husband was Samiel Rastaban, a direct decendent from the founder of Rastaban House.)

When the council (minus Azhdeha) came together afterward they decided that men were out for domination. They then handed the reigns over to the women elders. The women, knowing that they would fight then decided that they would give one woman the power to make these decisions. And who better than the woman who killed Lung'wa? Iliana became queen. The nation changed its name fifty years afterwards at the end of Queen Iliana's rule. The people changed it to the Queendom of Rastaban, after the House of their first queen.

Queen Iliana was 80 years old at the time of her death, and her only daughter had died three years prior. Her eldest great-granddaughter, Elspeth, then inherited the throne.

And its been thus ever since. Women have only ruled Rastaban since. Men do have equal rights and inheirtance (especially pertaining to nobility) is give to the eldest child, no matter what their sex.

She doesn't have to be on NSwiki before or after their married (though after the wedding it would be nice to link the two bios). She will be mentioned, however, in Bronson's bio and to extent if she does not have her own page.

IC: Flash of camera go off the Marquis Bronson Etain of Evenshire enters the palace pressroom. His sister Kishar is standing in the background behind him as well as his first cousin, Queen Cora.

Bronson's blue eyes look out to the sea of journalist. He adjusts his black hair as it falls in his face. "I have come to a crossroads in my life. My father's health is ailing and many times before its been pressed upon me that I need to choose a wife. I have always brushed that off, but recents events have convinced me otherwise."

He pauses as he looks out at the crowed, more cameras flash. "Two, beautiful and kind princesses, were presented to me for a choice. Princess Myrium of Terre DeAnge, and Princess Violet of Roman Greece. It was a tough decision, but I have finally come to it."

Bronson can hear the crowds collective intake of breath, waiting for him to continue.

"And I have chosen Her Royal Highness Princess Violet of Roman Greece," Bronson finishes.

The press throw questions at him and cameras are snapping all over the place. Queen Cora steps forward and addresses them. "My cousin has made his choice, please do give him some privacy as he will be meeting his prospective bride soon. This is the end of the conference."

There are moans and more questions directed to the queen and her cousins.

The letter had almost been completed. It seemed to be the perfect... Set-up. But, she hesistated, letting the ink drip from her pin as she stared out the window next to her. The sun brought pain to her, and she turned back. It was not exactly what she had hoped for, but it had been such a long time. She had became so inclusive, inward even. But perhaps this was her path. She rolled up the letter and stood letting her antique dress crawl across the dusty floor in this chateau that had fallen into disrepair.

She came into the salon where she saw the sulking figure of her blood. Her blood. The daughter. Georgiana? Yes, that was her name. She place all her hope unto her, and now, it seemed the path was open. She pulled up behind the toiling daughter, her figure looming over as her slender fingers fell upon her shoulders, and with a little shock, Georgiana looked back, to see her mother.

"Mother, your freezing, you should be in bed."

Andrea retracted a bit as Georgiana turned around and returned to sewing, but finally Andrea placed the paper next to her, allowing Georgiana to pause and pick up the handwritten paper. She read and then stood up.

"Married? Married? Mother, I.."

"He is a Margrave.. Or, a Marquis as its known here."

"But, I don't.."

"Silence, my child. There is much for you to learn about how relationships worked. Like me, and Raphael. It wasn't spontaneousity, it was a pre-arranged relationship, yet you know how me and your father were happy."

It didn't really seem that they were from the cold detached expression that Andrea gave as she reminisced.

"Mother, its not that. He decided to meet with this Violet girl from Greece."

"Georgiana, why should that ever stop you? You must learn to take what is needed. You are next in line after Lucien, which means you have a special place as one of this family. You msut learn now, or never."

The letter was stamped with a red seal. Strangely marked, more for a business letter, yet the paper itself was of a soft grain. The actual material couldn't be easily discerned, yet as it opened, it was handwritten in ink, with immaculate handwriting. The words themselves seem to shake in place, as if written by a troubled author, or a more elderly writer. It lacked a warm touch to it, rather being somewhat distant. A recurring theme, as it had the tone of a business letter rather than anything personal. The seal itself showed a key, entangled with a serpent, an amalgration of the remarkable seal of the Cedolin family of French aristocracy, and of the Imperial family sign for the Third Empire, that of the serpent. Anyone with a basic grip of European heraldry could recognize the design... Anyway, here are the contents...

His Royal Highness Marquis Bronson Etain,

I am here to first congratulate your coming into your prospects. Perhaps this seems strane, considering we have not made acquaintance, but as a woman of able demeanor, in my position to do so, I wish to make it today. My name is Andrea Karlsson Cedolin, Most Serene Highness of the Cedolin Dynasty and the Third Empire, Imperial Mother of the Enlightened Republic of France. A long list of formalities, I assure you, but heraldry is of course something that we attempt to hold on to. Such rule of etiquette are not to be lost, even as we come into our place in the future.

But excuse my tangents. I come to you with news from my sovereign nation. We have taken much interest into Rastaban. Of course, we have been isolated over the years, mostly due to a loss in leadership, which is paralleled in your own nation. It isn't a matter I wish to trouble you with, because I instead seek to look forward. You recently were on a search for a bride, which is perfectly understandable. Coming into such positions require a consolidation factor, and the continuance of blood is most pressing.

Of course, you have set your eyes on Princess Violet of Roman Greece. Thus, I am not here to press you on this matter. Rather, I have a much different proposition. My daughter, Georgiana, is certainly my life's work. I take great pride into my children, and I feel as if I have helped build them from their very foundations. Of course, my family has been small, yet that only strengthens my love.

Again, I leave the subject. The Enlightened Republic is very interested in knowing much more of your nation. What we know is obscure, and in interest of further relations between nations of our kind, and of continuing tradition in the name of progress, I would like to have my daughter, Princess du Sang Georgiana Cedolin, visit Rastaban under a sanction from our nation to represent us. She would be most delighted to meet you personally, when you can allocate time for such an endeavor.

With best regards,

Her Most Serene Highness
Andrea Karlsson Cedolin

Most Serene Highness of the Cedolin Dynasty and the Third Empire, Imperial Mother of the Enlightened Republic of France, Andrea Karlsson Cedolin,

I have contacted my cousin, Her Majesty Queen Cora, about this matter and she is very interested in having a relation between our two nations. We don't have much information about your grand Empire either and are very interested in learning such.

As it so happens the nations of Terre DeAnge are also interested in having friendly relations with our fair nation. They have offered to send their Crown Prince Roland de la Courcel to work on our relations. Queen Cora proposes that we have a type of conference between our three nations, hosted in Rastaban at the Royal New Avalon Palace.

We would be most please to recive Princess du Sang Georgiana Cedolin. She can arrive a soon as possible. A suite has been allocated to her in the palace and she just needs to send me word as to when she will arrive and a time for her and I to meet.

Sincerely Your Right and Trusty Friend,
Marquis Bronson Etain of Evenshire

The letter was folded up as Andrea examined the seal.

"Such little attention is put into the seal. You can notice this, can you not, Georgiana?"

"Of course, Mother.."

Georgiana stood in front of the mirror, braiding her black hair as she repeated this phrase that defined her relationship with her aging mother. Andrea looked to Georgiana with longing eyes, and then back to the letter as she placed it to the side.

"I would suggest you leave soon."

"Of course, Mother."

"I hope you will looked presentable."

"Of course, Mother."

Georgiana seemed to sigh as Andrea turned to her daughter. She continued, a slight bit of annoyance in her voice.

"I'm unsure exactly what would be considered 'presentable' in this nation. I trust you know your limits?"

Georgiana turned to her mother and the turned her face, walking straight off. She seemed not wanting to talk about it an awful lot. The old woman shook her head. It might be a while before her hard work was finally realized, but she knew that it would come out as she wanted it to. She sighed as she sat back on her chair, staring blankly at the fireplace. The Soviets marched on Germany, and to France. There was a chain of events that overwhelmed the Empire after the death of Raphael Cedolin. It did not help.

The plane landed at the designated airport, and surprisingly it hit no turbulance, with the liftoff and landing being unusually smooth. Sharing the grace, the diplomatically marked jet came down the run way, slowing down until it reached the terminal. It stopped, and for a few minutes, seemed to hesistate, before a stairway was rolled to the side of the jet and the door opened. Coming out was a fairly well dressed Georgiana, wearing a simple purple dress and a red ribbon tightly around her neck in a Victorian design. As she slowly, confidently made her way down the stairs, she reached the bottom and adjusted herself, taking off her white bonnet and ribbon and allowing one of her aide's take it for her. One of them spoke to her French as she waited next to the jet at rest.

"Your Serene Majesty, we must notify the Marquis of your arrival first."

"I thought for sure he would see the plainly marked plane. After all, such great lengths were taken to make those large, prominent stripes on the side to show off the French insignia."

The sarcasm in her voice was apparent, but the humor was lost, instead, it seemed to only be a nasty comeback to somethign she already knew. She turned around to her aide, and bowed her head, in seemign forgivance.

"I understand, however, the problem of this. I think however we can manage. Perhaps a phone is nearby?"

"I shall seek it, your Serene Majesty."

She nodded and dismissed him as she sighed. Already, she realized she had taken this a bit too quickly. She wasn't even sure why she was doing this, but she wasn't about to disappoint her mother. If anything, she deserved some repayment for her fortitude. Most things come in time.
