*Carmel City, Cherry Ridge: Greater Prussian Kingdom of Burgundy*

Years ago, the Emperor of Greater Prussia decided to enact a decree to the benefit of Catholics in the Empire. Through his generousity, he established the Greater Prussian Kingdom of Burgundy, another part of the Greater Prussian Empire with its own leadership structure. This way, the Catholics would have a stronger voice and would have more of an advocate within the Fundamentally Protestant Empire.

Now, after months of discussion with the High Command, the Emperor had arrived at a very important decision.

Napoleon had flown into Carmel City early that morning as planned, despite the death of the Cardinal. The King had invited him to the palace, offered him a tour of the city, and the chance to review the troops and the new merchant marine fleet.

"Your Highness." Napoleon bowed deeply. "Marvelous to see you. I hope things are well?"

"My emperor" he said, returning the bow, "I am fine, and you?"

The Merchant fleet gleamed in the distance, all 300 ships. It still hadn't set sail, for the emperor wanted to review it.

"Very impressive, John." The Emperor complimented him. "I wish we could get some of those shipwrights working for the Imperial Navy."

"How is that coming then?" Antonette enquired.

"Don't ask." was the curt and sarcastic response.

"I very much like the sturdy worksmanship...this fleet has my very enthusiastic blessings to set sail to work for the Kingdom and for the Empire." Napoleon began clapping. The workmen were assembled in a line about the ships, standing for review before the Emperor. "You should be very pleased with yourselves." he told them all, still clapping. The Emperor went up and down the line speaking to as many as he could before he had to leave. Some would present questions before him, and those that he could answer he would. Some wanted autographs...some wanted to shake hands. As the Emperor walked away you could see the workmen were star-struck.

The Imperial Guard escorts moved out along with Napoleon and the King as the two rode to where they were to review the troops.

After the Emperor was walknig away a Mariner yelled to the Imperial Guardsmen,
"I bet you can't even swim!"
--------
As they arrived to review CR troops, a Captain yelled,
"Imperial Salute at the left and right MARCH!" The Honor Company formed a V shaped formation, and fired a 21-gun salute. Drums beated, showing the Emperors arrival. A band played, the Imperial Anthem and then Immaculate Mary, the CR anthem.

"Emperor Napoleon, you may review the troops" said Antonette proudly.

"Quite impressive." the Emperor nodded his head, in contemplation of the regiment before him. "I should think they will do well. It is my understanding that this regiment got its christening fighting the Pax Maria, am I correct?"

"Form squares!" Napoleon shouted.

Without hesitation, the infantry easily transitioned their formation into a Square, the formation used to fend off cavalry in the old days. Now it was used only for parades or against the savages Imperial troops fought in Asia and Africa.

"They even know that one." Napoleon nodded his head again.

The Emperor whispered to his aide and walked away with the King after saluting the regiment.

The aide stood behind and announced to the men. "You have been given the official Imperial Sanction. Your unit has the blessings of the Emperor and has been declared one of the best in the Empire. Congratulations." The aide produced a few Sanction Medals for the commanding officers and followed after the Emperor as he returned with the King to the Royal Palace.

There, the joint press conference between the King and the Emperor was set to take place.

"Yeah, these are the best troops in the Ridgian Army. They did fight against Pax Maria. Most arn't real Catholics, only masons. They fought savages once too, some island in the pacific."

They went to the Press Conference,
Antonette began,
"Gentleman, ladies, I present, His Imperial Highness, Emperor Napoleon!"
The crowd cheared for almost 10 minutes.

"Citizens of Cherry Ridge, and of the Greater Prussian Kingdom of Burgundy, your Emperor greets you and thanks you for your warm reception. I am truly honoured." Napoleon bowed to the crowd in a large enough motion that they could see what he was doing.

"I come here today bringing an opportunity and an offer to this Kingdom. We have seen it function quite well and have determined that Burgundy, should she be attacked, could withstand the pressure...even alone. The Army, the Navy, the Government are all in first class condition." The crowd cheered. Burgundy, a new part of the Empire was fiercely patriotic and loved their King.

"Therefore, I bring before you an offer of autonomy. I offer you home-rule. All ties with the Imperial Crown that prevent the autonomy of the Kingdom, I will graciously sever and make the King's power in Burgundy like unto my own in Prussia. We offer you your independence."

The crowd was silent for a moment. Then
"YOU VIOLATE YOUR OWN LAW!"

"HES A TRAITOR!"

"TREASON!"

The crowd was thretening to attack Napoleon. Imperial Guardsmen ran out, and formed a barrier. They even had some difficulty. Ridgian Troops reenforced them. A few Merchant Mariners on leave began taunting the Imperial Guards with,
"You can't handle them yourselves, huh?"

Napoleon leaned over to Antonette. "I simply try to please the people. If you wish to Remain Part of Greater Prussia, it is my greatest wish."

OOC: The King has to comment before Napoleon can say anything Else.

The Imperial Guardsmen held their line but did not attack anyone or do violence to keep the mob from turning violent.

King Antonette stepped forward and yelled,
"SILENCE!" The crowd grew silent, and he began to say,
"The Emperor has informed me that he wants to please the people. It was mearly a suggestionTHEREFORE" he said, looking throughout the crowd,
"We will stay Prussian!"The crowd took it in, and began to scream,

"VIVA KING JOHN! VIVA NAPOLEON!"

A band struck up the song Immaculate Mary. After it was done, the King motioned to Napoleon.

If anyone doubted the resolve of the Kingdom of Burgundy, they were put to shame today. In a surprise press conference, the Emperor offered Burgundy Independence...the very thought of which was booed and drowned out of the nation's collective conscience.

The offer was refused, and Burgundy remains Prussian.

We will be following this story later on today.
