International Message

Greetings to allies, friends, and unknowns.

As those that have been monitoring the Erasat lately have noticed, the nation has suffered a broad sweep of political fervor. Student uprisings are a common occurrence at colleges and universities, as well as strikes by teachers, medical officials, and even police forces. The situation has nearly crippled the Etaran government, and even moreso after all our diplomatic operations were interrupted for several weeks when the Foreign Affairs Ministry shut down in protest of foreign policy of the Erasito. Under intense and buckling pressure, the Erasat has finally agreed to give the people what they wish.

Within the next few months, elections will be held across the nation. This is not the wish of the Erasito, but any further resistance to the People will result in an internal war. Though we are deeply disappointed that we cannot do anything to prevent this course of action, the Erasat sends its sentiments and love to our beloved allies and friends. Perhaps the new government will continue the tradition of strong relationships, though anything may be expected.

It has been said by those that support democracy that their system is the best. Though the Erasat disagrees, it is obvious that freedom will prevail. We shall leave the government in disdain and sadness, but the wishes of people around the world must be granted. Farewell, beloved.

The television's original programming is interrupted, on every channel, for news reports concerning the nation's new policy on democracy. Free speech, in essence, has been liberated due to the new policy, and news networks around the nation have come out of hiding holes to slam the government, fiercely support it, or simply present the news objectively. Noted "analysts" have been popping up out of nowhere, and the dozens of news corporations have embarked on a hiring spree to claim the best of the best. The most lucrative news corporation, Etaran eMedia, an internet-based company, recently unveiled a 24-hour news network distributed only through their internet site. The corporation is well-known for its centrist position, though notably anti-Erasito.

An attractive naturalized Knootian woman in her thirties reports with a slight accent, appearing upbeat and cheerful. "Good morning Etaros, I'm Anke Visser, reporting live from Etaran eMedia headquarters in New Itaros." The camera switches, and she promptly turns to face the one at the far left. "Government officials have declared today that the Erasat will soon become a democratic state, with elections to be held within the next few months. Already, parades are being planned, and Weston University students are celebrating by returning to school, promising to throw 'the biggest f-ing bash of the century' this weekend. Already, ballot places are being allotted, and it appears that the Etaran government has been preparing in recent months. Several candidates have already come forward, including the widow of the former Premier, Ivana Kasparov. Currently in her sixties, Mrs. Kasparov is the Etaran representative to VERITAS.

We interviewed Mrs. Kasparov earlier, and here's what she had to say.." (the camera view is now in a small room warmly lit, bookshelves in the backdrop and a white-haired woman smiling emphatically. Her small wire-framed eyeglasses glint in the camera light.) "Yes, I do believe that this course of action taken has been an extraordinary occurrence. The Erasito has been very wise to yield to the People, as their wishes must always be answered."

"And why do you believe, madame, that you are the most qualified candidate to lead our nation?"

She promptly responded, "The answer to that question is very obvious, Ms. Visser. I am well-versed in foreign affairs, helping to alleviate situations with Ilek-Vaad at Unity Island. I am also always in contact with our allies. Domestically, thirty years ago when my husband ruled, I was a strong advocate of healthcare and education reform, and I am staunchly against any affront to civil rights. May I also note that the current tax rate is exceedingly high? The government as of current has spent too much money on an idle military. However, I would like us to focus upon the fact that I can now say this. That, Ms. Visser, is the most wonderful thing of all."

Anke returns to the screen, post-interview in the present. "Questions have also been risen about the status of Luín Anarórë, a colony of the Erasat that was soon to become a province. Our own Tadelá Cesyr is reporting live from Hvittsted. Tadelá?"

The screen switches to a half-elf of enormous proportions, her fair hair fluttering in the wind, with her standing in front of a large Pink Bunny Cola factory. Green eyes look warmly into the camera. Her slight Lietuv accent is prevalent. "Yes, Anke, questions have been floating high here since New Itaros put out its International Message. Ëchanor is refusing to make any public statement at this time, though the governor's staff is saying that he is 'not happy about the current turn of events.' This response was expected from the Erasito's own son, the heir to the Etaran throne. However, when I asked whether or not this would lead to a defection from the central government, a long silence ensued by a formal declaration of no comment. Reporting live from Hvittsted, I'm Tadelá Cesyr." The screen is now split. "And Tadelá, have we heard any word of a final plan to sell the Hvittsted area to the Dutch Democratic Republic?"

She replies, "No, Anke, but there have been isolated reports from the PBC officials here that if the new government is pro-Knootian, we can expect a deal by the end of the year." "Thank you, Tadelá. Now we will go to a commercial break. Stay tuned for a debate between two college professors, one anti-Erasat, the other in favor of the monarchy." She smiles, and commercials are played.

Ëchanor cursed lightly under his breath at the agonizing situation. Throwing a report on the newly built spacedock on the floor, he wondered anew what had caused his father to crack. He had hoped to one day become the Erasito, ruling over Luín Anarórë and Etaros as one. He had strongly filtered out news reports coming into his colonial holds, however, during the past few weeks as to not incite revolts in his realm. Political freedoms were at an all-time low, something he considered very positive. Ëchanor knew he would never be able to accept a new, democratic government in New Itaros as superior to himself, and would likely defect at the quicket opportunity. Anger was not only directed at the Etarans, however, it was also pointed at his father. A father that gave up. He did not understand why such an elf of prestige gave up all he had worked for during his rule. Ëchanor began to think of his father as weak and timid. Yes, he would not come to Luín Anarórë and threaten the stability and order that prevailed in the peaceful colony.

The colony was running very smoothly, with a medium-sized government and plenty of construction. Several spacedocks were in progress, with one fully completed. NESCOM had already put a schedule on the spacedock, with the first shipment arriving within a month. The unnamed capital of the colony was still being built along the west coast of the territory, about 500 kilometers south of the Menelmacari holdings on the coast.

The change in government would change everything. When Luín Anarórë defected, which it would, there would be tons of hardship. It would become an enemy of Etaros, and families would be polarized. However, the young elf in charge of the colony's operations would not care. He desired to leave a lasting mark on history. If he would have to war with his former homeland, he would. He would build his own space navy. He would eject NESCOM and create a new organization. He would break all ties that Etaros had with foreign nations. He would do everything in his power to slow the progress of the new democracy. The new threat to his people and his power. The blue sunrise had become a reality, and it would not be crushed.

A swift graphic flies onto the screen from the left, displaying the words "Showdown Democracy: A Divided Nation" as a collage of protestors and pictures of angry conservatives supporting the monarchy is shown as a backdrop. A brief musical byte of intense drums is played. "Welcome to EBC News Tonight, I'm your host Ërossel Nulumar." The host is a tall elf with long, blond hair and piercing blue eyes. His high, pointed ears are visible. His face shows anger and disappointment.

"Tonight, our top report is concerned with the uprising of unruly Etarans supporting democratic reform. The Erasito, facing immense pressure from the radicals, has been forced oblige to their demands for democratic elections within the coming months. Though he has remained strong in his position, millions of traditional, conservative Etarans are protesting democratic reform fiercely. Out of the New Itaros Elven University, thousands of students have cried out against the radical democrats, calling them 'filthy dogs of pathetic existence,' among other names."

He turns to face another camera. "Foreign policy and the economy are under grave threat due to the current uncertainty caused by the radicals, who have been blamed to upset the balance of peace and harmony within the Erasat. Should a more liberal government follow, many believe that Etaros will be hurt around the world by the sudden change." The screen switches to a screaming protester. "The world understands us now! They are accepting of our government! Our allies are all dictatorships or monarchies, save a few exceptions! We cannot bend to these idiots that wish to destroy our nation! It's DANGEROUS! The Erasito must rescend his statement now before we all suffer under the power of democracy."

The screen switches back to the host. "As of current, according to liberal newspapers and media outlets, 70% of Etarans are supportive of democratic reform. However, the same amount are happy with the Erasito's rule, inciting outcries that the demand that he step down and not run for democratic office as unfair and biased."

He turns to face another camera. "Turmoil continues in Luín Anarórë as Ëchanor Eledhwen faces new questions about his father's apparent resignation. Many Etarans are hoping that he will run for the newly created Etaran Conservative Erasatium Party, supportive of an Elven monarchy in Etaros. However, the Erumnós has said that he does not intend to run for office." The screen switches to a news conference. Ëchanor speaks. "If I were to run for democratic office, I would be as filthy as the system itself. No, I will not run. I will continue administering Luín Anarórë as I see fit, regardless of what the new government wants. Democratic garbage will not seep through the Lietuv borders from the soon-to-be disgusting garbage truck of Etaros."

The screen returns to the host. "In other news, the military...."

Ivana Kasparov patted her tightly tied hair, and checked to make sure that the bun was twisted well. She looked at herself in the bedroom mirror once more before putting on her bifocal eyeglasses. The small, square frames sat neatly on the bridge of her nose. Ivana had vowed to wear few cosmetics since her husband's death, and refused to do anything other than age gracefully. She welcomed the wrinkles around her warm, cheery eyes and wide, smiling mouth.

To the average Etaran child, Ivana Kasparov was the grandmother you baked cookies with on Saturday afternoons and went to church services on a Sunday morning, followed by a visit to the shopping center to buy whatever you wanted. To the average Etaran adult, she was the confidant that you put your full secrets into to receive a wholesome and inspiring piece of advice on life's troubles. She was the wise woman on the block of the kindest nature. She was also in the process of creating a political party for the new democracy. Her hired aides and staff were still coming up with a name, but the platform was certainly under way, likely to be popular among moderate humans and progressive elves.

Ivana Kasparov was going to represent her party in the elections, and attempt to get a large number of party members elected to seats in the new legislature. That way, she would become Prime Minister of Etaros and be able to lead the country into what she would view as a positive direction.

At the moment, however, she was concerned with getting on her flight. Therefore, she put on her watch and turned to the door just as an assistant knocked. "I'm coming," she replied quickly as she walked to the door. When opening the wooden door, she came upon the hallway, and greeted the assistant. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Kasparov. Our flight is to depart in approximately two hours. We should be at the airport in one." She nodded, and the two were met at the end of the hall by two secret agents that also greeted Ivana. She nodded to them and gestured with her hands for them to go forward. They did, and when they reached the front doors of the beachside villa the group was welcomed by a large black, armored limousine. "Oh, not again," Ivana whined. "You act as if I'm a VIP or something," she griped as she stepped into the vehicle. The agents just smiled and shut the door after her assistant climbed in. Two armored SUVs were to escort the limousine, one in front and one behind.

On the ride to the Cartien National Airport, Ivana discussed an array of issues with her assistant. The other informed her of their final destination, New Itaros, in which she would meet with the Erasita to talk about public relations issues, and after which she would deliver speeches around the city. After that, she was to present the party's platform at a cultural theater in New Itaros on live television across the nation and the world, even the galaxy. Within the coming weeks, Ivana would be traveling across the country to rally support for her party, get hundreds of people to run for political office representing her party, as well as convince Etarans that she had the right vision for the future. "And I want to meet with allies. I want you to start calling the Knootians, Menelmacari, also those from the Austar Union, and anyone else in VERITAS. Preferably members of the Economic Pact. Also look through KIST and the TNA. Oh, I want to talk to the Dominion about future trade relations as well, and do not forget the Federation of Sentient Peoples. You get all that?" The assistant had been scribbling madly, and nodded. "Excellent. How much longer?" The other looked to the clock and replied, "About twenty minutes."

The rest of the ride was uneventful, but the beginning of a democratic process was under way. Ivana Kasparov was intent to start the country off on a fresh footing, and return it to days of former glory.

Hmm..

The New Itaros Monitor

Election dates set; new parties out in full

The Erasito today announced that the first free elections in Etaros will be held in June. Almost immediately after the official announcement, dozens of Etarosi took to the streets to begin political campaigning. The Etarosi Democratic Party, the Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party, and the Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party have all come out strong within the last few days as all three set their base. The Lietuv Renaissance Party has received a strong showing in southwestern portions of the country where ethnic Lietuvs make a habit to keep the old ways of life alive. Potato farming and moderate socialism are included in such policies. The Environmental Liberation Party, a party slanted heavily towards high government regulation of polluting industries and gasoline-operating automobiles, has received little showing, but is gaining in popularity among the environmentalist bloc of Etarosi. Other parties include: the Etarosi Socialist Workers' Party, the Etarosi Progressive Elven Party, Etarosi Capitalizt Party, and even the Etarosi Christian Party.

The most successful party in the past week has proven to be the Etarosi Democratic Party, a moderate party that has strong positions on a vast array of issues. Many Etarosi are flocking to this party in hopes of reform. The very popular Ivana Kasparov founded the party several days after the first announcement that the Erasat would fall to democracy.

Also successful, the Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party is condemning the democratic movement, though taking full advantage of it. They are running on a platform that would immediately propose legislation to outlaw democracy and dissolve the Parliament. Many Etarosi that are resentful of the democratic reformers are flocking to this party, led by Consulacöra Liëssa Ciryatan.

Though not as popular a party, the Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party is one that supports democracy, but wants to uphold traditional values and put in place an across-the-board right-wing leadership. Free Conservatives support the ideals of small government and low taxes. They are led by Alexander Borskoff.

Though slightly uncertain, the future of democracy in Etaros is looking fairly bright, though the ECEP has gained quite a following. The liberal movement sweeping the country, however, is likely to remain more popular as election season unfolds.

Luín Anarórë threatens to defect
Erasito begging patience; Etaran Democratic Party initiating talks with the Erumnós; riots shaking Lietuv cities

New Itaros, Etaros -- In a shocking move today, the government in Luín Anarórë is threatening to defect from the Erasat due to the increasing movement in democratic reforms and the creation of at least five mainstream parties to run for political office. Erumnós Ëchanor has declared the new democratic front as "an assault upon mine and my father's existence," in a press conference earlier this morning. Many Lietuvs are taking to the streets to protest actions in the homeland, calling democracy "an affront to our way of life," and have stated that they "will not recognize the new government if it supports democracy," at this time. In Hvittsted, Pink Bunny Cola, Inc. officials are becoming increasingly upset as uncertainty continues to unfold.

Several news agencies have conducted interviews with PBC officials, who are growing aggravated with the current situation in the area. "The whole point of this factory complex is to have a presence in Haven. Pink Bunny Cola will begin looking into other locations if this political unrest continues. The Etaran and Lietuv governments are really going to have to get it together," one official stated in an anonymous interview. The threat made by officials at the PBC factory complex, located in Hvittsted, has frightened many economic analysts, who say that the loss of the factory would not only provide a serious blow to the Etarosi economy, but political analysts say the action would also harm relations with the Dutch Democratic Republic. Professor Harmen Viker, one of the most prominent political analysts in the nation, said that "the loss of Pink Bunny Cola in Etarosi lands means the loss of something that continues to hold Knootoss and our country together. What with the Prime Minister's increasing imperialistic attitudes coupled with a decline in respect for Knootoss, as my colleague Mr. Holland of the Austar Union has recently pointed out, the relations between our nations has been distancing diplomatically."

The threat made by PBC officials has only thrown the nation into more turmoil as Etarosi beg political parties to offer quick solutions and begin convincing Ëchanor and PBC to remain loyal to the Erasat at the present time. Ivana Kasparov, candidate for the Etaran Democratic Party, has said she has solutions, and spoke of them only hours ago. "I believe that if Ëchanor and I sit down and have a hearty talk, we can work things out. We are close friends, and I don't intend to break that friendship because of our disagreements on government philosophy." When asked about PBC, Mrs. Kasparov stated, "I think we need to provide them with a real incentive. I have already scheduled a teleconference with PBC officials to work out a deal that would have them stay in Hvittsted. Further talks will include the Erumnós, most definately." Other party officials have offered no statement. . .

Riddick read the troubling reports from New Itaros once again, frowning as it seemed the situation was brewing into something more of a civil conflict. This was hardly a good situation at all, since they had been loyal friends and allies from the beginning of their declared independance, (or as soon as they were known as Etaros at least). Diplomats and Ambassadors to that nation alike were troubled also, with their own personal security being threatened as the conflict strife continued to plague the nation. No, there was no way that Riddick could ever just stand by and watch as his friends struggled under the burden of just so many voices for movement. Whether it be a movement for independance from the homeland, or a movement for unity, of a movement for democray, Etaros it seemed had become somewhat of an unstable location. Not that this was at all unlike most of Haven, but for the most part it was troubling since they were his allies, afterall. And so a message of invitation would be sent.

SUBJECT: Unsettling occurances, and an invitation...
-------------------------------------------------------------

Friends of the Ravenspire, and of the eventual state of Austar Union. How can I stand by and be silently troubled by the latest occurances of civil disruption without at least offering this place for a centre of negotiation and peace. I would do almost anything to make certain the stability of the situation of which you must endure for now. How could I, since certainly I would be doing something wrong - to remain as cold as perhaps those who do not care for the people of your nation. Our friends have always mattered to us, whether allied through VERITAS or not, and Etaros in any form of government (within reason of course!) will be a friend of the Union. For it is the people we love and their desision to make a change. I respect that, although I we are more of a centralised state ourselves.

Anyhow, please consider this message an invitation to the Center for Regional and Foriegn Diplomacy here at Isle of the Ravenspire. I offer this place as a venue to meet between yourselves common ground, with the mediation of my diplomatic corps alone. Whether you meet a point of agreement economically, militarily, or politically, and or even a combination of two or three of three, I would consider it as some progression. My offer remains open.

The loud noise of military helicopters above the city was almost constant. They were on patrol all times of day, with several breaks. Protests were constant: all around the city, people convened on parks, sidewalks, streets, and even atop buildings to shout their thoughts. Thousands were facing arrest, but Etarosi jails were overflowing with these threats to the peace, thus forcing police officers to fine the protestors and let them be. The result was a dramatic influx of paperwork for New Itaros city officials, who were nearly buckling under all the pressure. They soon went on strike to protest unfair conditions, grinding the city to a complete halt. There were some volunteer groups attempting to help, but they could scarcely get to where they needed because throngs of protestors blocked intersections and major highways. Chaos ensued within the capital, and there were like conditions around the nation.

As the Erasito sat in his comfortable office about fifteen kilometers above on a picturesque mountainside, he pondered the situation fully. His own son had abandoned him and taken rash actions in Haven, likely resulting in a backlash from the Imperium of Scandavian States. However, he did not have the power at the moment to send troops to Luín Anarórë to enforce the law; there were more pressing matters at home. He was using much of the military for policing services, and the nation was on the brink of collapse. He cursed democracy and the woes it brought upon people, and he cursed the people for their stupidity in desiring a democracy. However, he planned to stay true to the national motto he invented, "Do what is right, what is good for your people," and what was right and good in this situation was let them have their way. He turned in his extravagant chair made in a faraway land to view the city below, and saw small outbreaks of smoke and fire. The situation, at present, was under control. The military had done a great job in patrolling the city to make sure that protestors were kept in check. Any potential rioters were tranquilized immediately. He was about to turn back when he saw a fighter jet fly over the city, and watched it with curiousity. He had ordered no fighter jets for the day. . .

Suppressing a feeling of panic, he buzzed the Office of Intelligence.
----------------------------

Adrian Weston, now a very elderly man in his eighties, sipped his noon coffee. The liquid was hot and sweet, though very watery. He closed his tired, old eyes and swirled the small styrofoam cup in a circular motion. A buzz immediately sent his eyes open in a fit of alarm. He flipped the appropriate switch, and spoke in a husky voice. "Yes?" A young woman replied, "Sir we have an unidentified object flying over New Itaros airspace. It appears to be a fighter jet. We've hailed it twice with no response." He thanked the young woman, and just as he flipped the switch to contact the Erasito, there was another buzz. He moved to the right in his chair, and flipped the switch. "Weston here."
------------------------------

The Erasito pushed a small button to contact the Office. "Weston here." He spoke quickly with a small hint of alarm, "Weston, we have a fighter jet over the city. Is it cleared?" "No sir, it's not. I was just contacted. Shoot it?" The Erasito gave the speaker a look of bewilderment, as if the man on the other end could see. "Absolutely not. It's over the city Weston, not over the ocean." The elderly man seemed to have immediately realized this fact, and apologized. "Right. What shall we do?" The Erasito rolled his eyes. "Have you told it to go?" The elderly man responded they had, and he said, "Escort it out of the city's airspace." "Aye, sir." The Erasito pushed the button again to disconnect.

At that moment, an enormous blast erupted, rattling the windows of the Erasito's office. He turned in shock to see several blocks ablaze, with the jet flying towards the ground with increasing speed at another area. It launched another missile seconds before it collided into the ground, creating a double explosion that forced the windows of the Eledhwen Palace on the cityside to crack violently, and an entire 15-block radius where protestors were thronged was now a burning inferno with a likely thousand dead.

Five more explosions rocked around the nation in the following half hour. The media was going wild with speculation, and the government's former business now came to a complete halt as it worked quickly to restore order. The situation was slowly being defused, but the threat of rapid deteoration was still present. The Erasito immediately put out replies to foreign governments in between his restoration reports.

Thankyou for your ready response in the favor of talks. I am still at the moment awaiting on responses from other participants of the conflict, including a representative on behalf of your own son, and also a representative of the Pink Bunny Cola Corporation. I figure it best that we at least help to preserve the state of your economy whilst also maintaining the political balance which lately seems to be spinning off any axis it used to be clung to. Being a fellow disbeliever of a democratic system, you may or may not see my position when I would say that the people really dont know what they want - each with his or her own agenda. Unfortunately, seperate agenda doesnt work in the real world of politics and bloodshed, and the likely outcome of a disunited balance being death and gore.

As you have seen today, and as I have also been notified by our very own Intelligence Directorate, I am growing even more increasingly troubled at the state of our fellow friends and allies. Whilst I want to do my best to preserve friendships with all members of the conflict, it can become a nuisance when an event like today occurs. My thoughts and hopes are for the dead and respective families. Anyhow, in whatever you choose friend, I wish the best for the people and government of Etaros, however I would like to at least contribute to a return to stability. Please know that whilst the formalities with the homeland have not been finished and Lord Indigo Blue is still sorting his own self out; but I would like to offer you an expeditionary force under my command to help police the civillian populations, and to also deter any foriegn or internal aggression. I thank you for your condolences, and it is of my great concern that the people have reacted so violently. I feel, however, that I have reached a point of no return. There will be no going back to glory, to dignity, and to pride for the Etaran people. Democracy has corrupted their mind, body, and spirit. They think that having a say in government will be beneficial; such folly makes my heart sink to the depths of the deepest and darkest ocean.

Though I considered your offer for help in stabilizing the current situation, I am afraid I should have to decline at present. It is my fear that if the Etaran people see a foreign military force enter the nation, they will panic further. I am attempting to pull everything under control, though I am not sure how long it will take.

My son and I are plotting a defection in the pseudo-independent colony of Luín Anarórë, which remains loyal to the truth of an imperial code. Of course, this information is top-secret. It would likely be more of assistance if you began surrounding your efforts upon the colony rather than the homeland. Etaros, in truth, is a sad case of hopelessness at this point. Thank you immensly,

With much gratitude,

The riots had died down somewhat over the course of a few weeks. After the terrorist attacks in New Itaros, the people had become much more wary of congregating in large groups. Though there were some professing the claim that the government attacked civilians to scare them into their homes, the belief was widely unaccepted. Space vessels were hovering in orbit over the country to make sure that if a speedy exodus was required for government officials, it would be available. The government itself was deteriorating at a rapid pace, though attempting to maintain control. Most of the countries labor unions had already pledged allegiance to Ivana Kasparov and the Etaran Democratic Party, and thus were resisting government influence in the workplace on a drastic level. Many homes were decorated with anti-government banners and slogans, supporting democracy and freedom. The defense budget had been transferred to police forces and other domestic control institutions, leaving the Erasat in a very vulnerable situation. The Erasito issued a warning to all foreigners in Etaros immediately after the terrorist attacks, and encouraged other nations to temporarily remove their personnel from Etaran soil, stating the situation was "critically explosive."

The terrorists were found to be members of a miniscule domestic organization, called the Etaran Human Imperialist Army, aimed at maiming elves and democracy-supporting citizens of the nation. Attempts on the Erasito's life were recorded in the organization's records, all failed. Apparently a few members were in the armed forces, which explained the use of a fighter jet to descend upon New Itaros after firing two missiles. All in all, the group was named responsible for 5,000 deaths in the city on that day, and its surviving members were executed or exiled. Families of members were put on small boats and sent out to sea with only a compass and a week's supply of food.

With elections scheduled very soon, the situation in Etaros could not be more upsetting. The following government will have to place a strong emphasis on maintaining control while ensuring civil liberties. Though a difficult time for Etaros, there are hopes that democracy will work...

Written on Behalf of Lord Riddick of the Ravenspire - Subject to Lord Indigo Blue of the Austar Union

I cannot express my disbelief at the amount of change shown by those who push for democratic reform. Do you not realise that you are in essense defeating your own motive? Whom is to give you all the right to bring violence and destruction upon your leaders, when you simply have to vote them from office in the next elections. I am dissapointed in you, friends. You fight between yourselves and threaten to disable the lifestyle even you enjoy. Do you want your children to suffer under such rutheless bloodshed? You fools!

First you slap your glorious leader in the face with your push for a change in leadership, then you bring shame to yourselves by killing and maiming the very country your ansestors had built years before you even existed. Be thankful that you are alive! Be thankful that Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen has even been so kind enough to give you the privilage to vote. Not everyone else has this privilage. How can you call yourselves worthy of respect when you fight against your brothers and sisters alike? I emplore you, people of Etaros to bring a dawn of peaceful transition to your country. You owe your neighbours, and you owe Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen some decency. It is only because he was faithful in you that you are choosing your leaders respectively. You ought to recognise this at least! I will say, that on behalf of the Isle of the Ravenspire, and on behalf of the Absolutionist State of Austar Union, that we will never respect a government elected whom hasnt promoted the measures of peace. So long as fighting continues in your nation, you will lose my respect and I will gain in that of only those whom promote the cause.

Yours In Excellence,

When the Erasito received the message from Lord Riddick, his worried face lightened a bit, though it was hardly a smile. Too much had happened for him to be happy, though he could be grateful for the help of a dear friend. He quickly sent a letter of thanks, and immediately sent the letter to media outlets. Public response was immense. "Who does the man think he is," cried one Etarosi protesting the Erasatium. Others, however, were understanding and seemed to have thought twice about their actions. Though few, the number of fanmail making its way into the Erasito's office increased. People apologized for their actions that may have hurt him or hurt others' and their property, though reminded the Erasito that they were still determined to have their democracy. All in all, the letter from Lord Riddick may have created a reaction that soothed the boiling waters of Etaros. The Erasito would greatly encourage the next government to open substantial relations with the Ravenspire and build upon its friendship with the Austar Union.

However, much controversy was still boiling as the most provocative newspaper in the nation continued printing articles. The New Itaros Monitor was receiving much attention during the past few weeks for its racy stories and stirring tales. The most recent articles created flames of emotion throughout the nation. . .

The New Itaros Monitor

Etaros sends goodwill letter to Luín Anarórë
Debate still broiling over what to do with disloyal colony

New Itaros, Etaros ---- In an attempt to rectify a strained friendship, the Etaran government sent a letter of goodwill to the colony of Luín Anarórë. The letter was apparently a way to try to keep the important colony under the authority of the Erasat. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen has said repeatedly that his grief with the colony is not personal, but urges the colonial administration "to recognize that it still remains under the authority of the Etaran government, now and until the government decides to grant it independence, if ever." Pro-democracy Etarans have been divided upon the issue, especially noted between pacifist EDP candidate Ivana Kasparov and hardliner ECFP candidate Marcus Dietomna (Mr. Borskoff has resigned his candidacy to Mr. Dietomna).

In a short interview the Monitor, Kasparov stated that "the only way to defuse the situation is to yield a compromise. More specifically, I believe that the Etarosi government should grant the colony some independence in domestic affairs, while still maintaining strict control over trade and foreign affairs. In this way, the Erumnós will not be offended by democracy finding its way under his authority, and Etaros will still maintain some control over Lietuv affairs."

Many Etarans have found this proposed compromise very welcoming, but not those flying the banner of the Conservative Freedom Party. Candidate Marcus Dietomna explains, "We cannot afford any loss of control concerning the colony at this time. Perhaps in the future, but right now we need to step in and reaffirm control of the area. The Etaran economy will wither if the situation continues to grow, and the totalitarian agenda is not to be trusted. I will call for an immediate removal of Ëchanor if he does not return control to Etaros." Dietomna's statement was met with both applause and harsh criticism, forcing some to take to the streets.

The Erasito has furiously responded to Dietomna's statements as "a jest of the democracy he professes. It is clearly evident that the Lietuv people are content with my son's leadership. The fallacy that the leader of the ECFP would incite a war with a peaceful colony is simply rash and illogical. If this nation feels democracy is right, it must respect the bounds of the democratic institution. War is totalitarian, not the protest of a changing government." No response was offered from any party.

New Itaros mayoral and congressional election close ahead
Diverse city to offer preview of national elections

New Itaros, Etaros ---- In New Itaros, mayoral and congressional elections are to be held as the first in the nation on May 27. The city has long been considered an accurate representation of the country, serving host to many races, nationalities, and religions in one area. The city and metropolitan area claim home to over thirty million residents. Heavily diverse, the city is able to avoid tension with tolerance and fair representation. Conservative Protestants, liberal Jews, libertarian atheists, socialist Muslims, and many more religious and political views merge to create a myriad of culture and politics. Also less noted are the alien (off-world) races the inhabit the city, numbering around twenty percent of the population.

With all these factors combined, the election of a new mayor and five congressional representatives is likely to be a preview for the nation as a whole. All four major parties have reported favorable results throughout the city, though the people and time can only tell.

NESCOM fuming over budget cuts
First Galactic Fleet in danger of disrepair and malfunction

Maiun Mountains, Etaros ---- The National Etaran Space Command has protested defense budget cuts with growing anger and frustration. Staffing is at an all-time low due to the cuts, and the only Etaran fleet existing is in grave danger, according to one NESCOM official.

The Erasito recently diverted a large portion of defense to the police forces around the nation to quell the internal violence that has been brewing over the past several weeks. The action taken to maintain order has, as a result, decapitated NESCOM and its fleet.

When Admiral Borster, commander of the First Galactic Fleet, discovered that the budget cuts were being made, he requested an emergency teleconference with the Erasito that was promptly denied. "I am outraged and offended," commented the Admiral in an exclusive interview. "We have lost virtually all funds necessary to operate at an adequate level." Apparently the Fleet has enough supplies to survive for several months, but without money it cannot pay for future upgrades or repairs to keep vessels functioning at top capacity. The Erasito said briefly that he would respond to the situation in due time. Aides to the Erasito refused to define "due time," leaving the state of the First Fleet up in smoke, literally.

"I don't have time to wait around while he stares at his thumbs in depression over his loss of power," stated an angry Admiral Borster. "My fleet needs this money now." The Admiral hinted that he has already made a deal with Ivana Kasparov and the EDP that would keep a minimum amount of funds allocated to NESCOM if it were to be in power. The party has allegedly pledged to remove the agency from the defense budget eventually and make it a governmental department with a cabinet position.

Until that day, however, NESCOM will be forced remain in a cloud of doubt and confusion as the government ignores its cries for more funds necessary to feed the Brave of the Etaran Interstellar Navy. Etarans have been encouraged by NESCOM and Admiral Borster to, "vote in a way that will protect Etaran interests in space as well as on Earth. In other words, vote EDP."

Truth of the Erasat: Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen
An Independant Article Distributed Through the Population of Etaros

Whom is this man you call your enemy? Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, the enemy of democracy and freedom of choice. Is this the man you want in leadership, a man who brought the death of life to your nation? If this is your understanding, you need to think again! Despite popular belief, the Erasat may not be as evil as you might think. Some may claim the opposite, and cry, 'How dare you take our freedom!'. And yet with a cold and hard look at the evidence today, maybe one ought to reconsider his position. So what did he do anyway?

From the humble beginnings of Etaros, Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen led the nation into a state of prosperity. Perhaps it was under a system of non-democracy to begin with, but was it nessasarily an evil and dark regime? With a motto of 'Do What Is Right, And What Is Good for Your People', how can one claim that such a man had alterior motives except to benefit the nation of Etaros and its eventual populous. Under his system, the nation had gained eventual stability. Do you remember the days when you were organised under a system which caused you to fight against your brother? I remember this day well, and still under the rulingship of this man he brought to you stability, peace, and unity under the banner of Etaros. You gained your citizenship, you gained your identity, and you gained the foriegn friendships with greats such as Lady Sirithil of Menelmacar. Do not forget the advantages you have under his system and rulingship! Do not forget that you have the borders of a superpower, friendly and allied to you just a few hundred kilometres from where you stand and sit right now! Do you not believe that this has led to the security of the Lietv state?

You have become richer, you have become more peaceful, you have gained in security. What else do you ask for? There are so many more around the globe who do not have the privilages you do. Do not forget, friends, that within your own region there is a people of suffering under the rulingship and banner of the Allanean government! Do you wish you were them, or are you thankful for the lifestyle which even allows you to consider such luxuries as voting. Do not forget friends, you are so lucky even under the system of non-democracy. And when you claimed your stake of right to democracy, when you requested your right to vote, what is it this man did? What action and course did he take, Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen? I will remind your friends, he listened to the people. He 'Did What Was Right, And What Was Good For His People'! He stayed true and loyal to you, and gave up his own wants and desires for your own. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen is a man who puts his nation first, he is a man who cares about YOU, before anything else. So before you point the finger of accusation, do not forget the man who brought you life! Do I need to even remind you that he brought the nation further security by signing the VERITAS pact, which still stands today and brings the nation loyal foriegners wanting to help?

Now under democracy, you have betrayed your loyal leader. Sure you have now the right to remove him from office. But do you want to run the risk of replacing him with possible fools? Do you know the men and their history, and what they will do once they gain time in office? I for one do not, and do not trust those who accuse the innocent. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen is a loyal man, a man of peace and prosperity. He has brought you the lives you deserve. The Etarosi are a great people and I admire you all dearly. Do not take second best, and reconsider you leader whom has been so kind to even give you the privilage to vote him out of power. He works hard, day and night to give you hope and restore the lives you lived before you fought against yourselves. Despite the fact that you point in anger toward his existance, and despite the fact that it seems unlikely for him to be voted, does he take time to holiday? The answer is no, and despite the problems you now face (such as the lack of funding for the First Galactic Fleet), Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen is a man of truth and liberty, and stands for the benefit of Etaros. Afterall, you can only blame yourselves for the problems you have created - they are the price of civil ignorance.

Show me you are the people whom I think you are. Show the world your honest and just attitudes. Be loyal to those who are loyal to you. Do good to those who do good to you. Vote Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, in the next elections. For he is a man of furtherment, he is a man of prosperity. And despite popular misconception, he is a man of the people.

ANATOBA CITY, AUSTAR UNION
Aid Package offered to Etaros - On Behalf of the Lord Indigo Blue

In a public announcement just this morning, Lord Indigo Blue has offered the State of Etaros a multibillion dollar aid package, after it had been reported that a lack of funding existed for the Etarosan First Galactic Fleet. Here is an extract of his announcement and offer to the people of Etaros;

"Understandably so, with the lack of funding for the already existing First Galactic Fleet, I am sure that the Admirals and Commanders of that entity would be rather hot under the collar, as they say. I have reports coming in that say that they arent recieving near enough funds to keep them under maintainence, and so this is why I am offering the following. As an allied state with a ability to assist, I can safely reassure the people of the Austar Union that we have more than enough money in reserve to keep a multitude of these operations in activity. And so I would like to offer the government of Etaros as a friend of the Union, for us to provide funding to the First Galactic Fleet until such time when they can afford to pay it themselves. Under a system of loans, the terms will be absolutely relaxed, as I am confident that our friends are trustworthy enough. Besides, we are always keeping an eye on the situation, and are willing to help at any moment."

In the meantime, with the situation beginning to stabilise an article entitled, 'Truth of the Erasat: Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen' has been released. The author of this article is believed to be the Political Editorial, the world-famous Austarian politics magazine. It has been famous also for its commentations on the rulingship of Prime Minister Galadriel of Knootoss in the past. It is only time until the results and the people's response to the 'Truth of the Erasat' article.

The Sirens of Titan Containment Commission
Homeworld Christmas, in orbit around Gliese 710

We will watch these events unfold with great interest. Though it's not known to the elven world of Taraldanore led by Menelmacar, the home planet of the SoT CC is home to several barbaric tribes of elves. They lack the ability of magical powers, but their battle for independence and unification with elves throughout the universe remains, hence our interest in these non-human affairs. The superior human race sees these elven business as nothing but a pure waste of time initiated by greed, jealousy and leadership or lack thereof. The unfortunately cliched image of human superiority surfaces once again in the SoT CC with their blunt lack of respect and loyalty to their rightful masters. Humans have built Christmas, elves want to take over. The message is clear, the SoT CC must preserve the identity of the colonists through force.

This whole elves ordeal is too ludricrous to talk about. We are seriously in doubt if elves are worthy of the word race, or our words for that matter.

Response to the Austarian article was largely shock, followed by long silence. All major newspapers in the nation published the article, and feeble criticisms quickly followed. However, many Etarosi were brought to shame, to a realization that extremities are not always necessary. The author of the Austarian article spoke truth indeed, the fact that the Erasito had been very compassionate and benevolent during his tenure. He did indeed bring the nation to prosperity, and tried his hardest to keep taxes at an affordable rate during times of economic hardship. Even under the most massive of projects, the Erasito struggled to make sure the common man did not feel the brunt of it. He proved himself viable, strong, and powerful. These facts, these thoughts coursed through the brains of every Etarosi, and the candidacy for the Etarosi Erasatium Conservative Party changed from Liëssa Círyatan to the Erasito himself. He announced he was extremely reluctant, but was moved to tears when he read the Austarian article. In the following excerpt of a speech, he spoke of his gratitude,

"It has not been my motive in the past decade to oppress you. It has not been my motive to push you under the rug. I fear for your lives in my office, I fear that you will not be as prosperous as I have allowed. I fear that friendships will fall to pieces, and I fear most that we will find ourselves back in a bad situation if I am forced out of leadership. I speak to you, my Etarosi people, on a condition of honesty. I do not want to find myself crying bitter tears years after I am out of the political arena. I do not want to find children starving, mothers dying, and fathers broken from stress. I do not want to find a poor nation smothered in jingoism, or a welfare state smothered that does not encourage individual strength. It is because you are Etarosi that I have faith in you, and I do indeed. I want to be your leader, and if that means that I must face some sort of election, then so be it. I will do whatever necessary to make sure you remain safe."

The Erasito felt such pride and joy for the Austarian author that he would indeed question the name and locale of the person. It was a miraculous piece of writing that potentially saved the Erasat. One person in a foreign land was able to enter the minds of Etarosi, and perhaps ensure liberty and safety in the nation. It was one person in a foreign land that stopped the burnings, the riots, the cries of anger. It was one person that potentially turned the tide of history. The Erasito took note of this, and had much gratitude to offer to the Austar Union, most especially noted after Lord Blue offered a multibillion dollar aid package...

To the Lord Indigo Blue of the Absolutionist State of Austar Union:

Dear Friend,

I must thank you with the depths of my joyful heart at your attempts to help me in a troubled time. I must also thank the citizen under your leadership that aided me in reaching a position that will enable a strong leader for the candidacy in my nation's elections. It is rather evident that Austarians are extremely compassionate and sympathetic to the cause of what is right, and you should be proud of yourself and your people. If I may know the name of this person that aided my candidacy, I will be forever grateful. Perhaps we shall have a meeting soon within my own halls.

In response to your gracious offer of aid so that our Galactic Fleet may be operable once again, I must say with a reluctant, yet ever grateful heart that I will accept your offer. It is a noble thing for a man to help his friend, and even more noble when the situation is dire. If I may ever grip your helpful hand in a way that will aid you most, please do not hesitate to seek me. I will have my Economic Affairs Ministry sort out the arrangements of the aid package immediately. Again, thank you immensely.

With companionship,

Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen of the Omnaeus Erasat of Etaros

When the acceptance of an aid package became public, support for the Erasito climbed even higher. It was becoming a very tight race, with Ivana Kasparov barely ahead in the polls. With a few more pushes in the right direction by party officials, the Erasito might be able to keep his seat in government. It was obvious however, that the absolutionist policies of the past were likely lost forever to be replaced by democratic reforms. Regardless, the gratitude felt by Erasatium Conservatives was enormous, and wished to reward their friend with unending thanks.

Indigo had read the latest releases from Etaros - both the public media and the Intelligence Directorate were his main source. However according to the latest polls, finally once again Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen had been restored almost to his own former glory. He was popular, and according to a general census test he could indeed be most the most popular candidate for the next election. Naturally, it would depend on what magazine or news source one was to listen to, for such details were so inaccurate, but still his part had been played. From herein, it would remain under the jurisdiction of Erasito himself to promote himself to leadership. That, and the destruction of the political career of others - though it was hardly the intention of Lord Blue and his political writing dogs. He was heartwarmed anyhow at the latest reports, and at the recieving of the 'thankyou' message, he was further pleased. Anything to help a friend.

SUBJECT: Re:
---------------------------------------------------------------

How can I not help a friend in time of need? Actually, I am fairly surprised that other nations (especially that of the VERITAS treaties) have not responded in kind. I imagine it only be my duty, and loyalty pact with those around me. Afterall, one good deed deserves another right? For your own future loyalty, I do this for. And for the general welfare of those I care about, those whom I love, I do this for. Although, I must say that I had never imagined our two states to actually further along in relations so fast. It hadnt even been that long ago since I had come into contact!

Anyhow, these details matter not, because you are a friend of mine. And a friend of mine is a friend of the state. Thats how it works around my parts, and my populous while incredibally intelligent understand the rule of law and order. I do not have to put my heavy fist on the table to keep regime. I rule out of genuine concern and compassion. I remain loyal to the people, and they remain loyal to me. And to top it off I suppose I am a lucky man, since even the United Nations rates the Austarian populous as more politically apathetic - although they care about the politics which concern their friends more than themselves. Obviously they are not ignorant, for that would only make me a fool. But otherwise, I am glad for their patience and respect in all matters. You may or may not realise, but the actual social engineering I have designed has been formatted in such a way that people are taught to value the rule of order and respect from birth, by the state-set curriculum. It tends to work rather well, (perhaps something you may consider for yourself when re-elected.)

In the meantime, I musnt ramble for too long - such a poor habit I have developed over the years. The man's name you seek is Henry Bankford, Editor of the Magazine known as the 'Political Editorial'. At the moment they seem to be focusing on the importance of order within a state, and are using Etaros as an example whereby order had dimished. Writers from there had set themselves a task, to see if order could be implemented via media channels, and by the looks of it I would think that the project was relatively successful. Of course, they had not been given the idea from themselves but rather from my office instead - as a sort of partnership to ensure your rise to power once again. I would like to see you remain in power, Erasito if I may call you that. However I fear there is little more I can organise for public opinion. Now it is down to your own efforts. I do have some kind of idea however, if you would lend an ear of listening.

I have a personal team of fund managers whom are answerable to the state, and myself directly. I know that they are very interested in investing into Etaros should you get re-elected and if you were to divert your personal efforts toward building and growing the Etarosi economy. If that was to become your main concern, you might just find some major investors knocking at the doorstep of Etaros, and you may find that they are interested in investing trillions of dollars. However I must state again, it would only be if you are willing to commit to the growth of the economy. I do not know your aims and achievements you would like to succeed in, so do let me know if you are interested and I will pass a message onto my fund managers. They are rather cautious, but keen to invest into foriegn economies. Just an idea.

Anyhow, I will let you be, and you are free to call on me should you require any further help. Who knows what the possibilities are.

Yours In Excellence,

Lord Indigo Blue

What People Want - And More About Who Supports the Erasat
An Independant Article Distributed Through the Population of Etaros
Written By Henry Banksford, the Political Editorial

With the latest news regarding the support for each candidate landing on my desk every morning, normally I would flick through each paper just to pass the time while I enjoy my daily 'wake-up' coffee. But today, and recently I have found myself actually taking notice of the developing situation in Etaros, and as you have known, I have also been publishing a series of articles about the Erasat. But some would ask, 'Why do you have such interest in a man across the other side of the globe? Why do you care so much?'

I would have to answer something possibly quite simple. I care for the man, because he cares for his people. It is a problem widespread across the globe, where people seem to take so much little appreciation in their faithful leaders. People are elected out of office because there wasnt enough buns in the Kitchen cupboard, and people are elected out of office because their own gun rights were a little restricted more than they should be. And I am surprised of the lack of perspective some people seem to have, at how they do not realise their own luck at the nation they live in, and the leaders they come underneath. In Etaros for one, I have made it my own personal goal to help the people of that state to truly understand how lucky they are to have a leader like the current ruling Erasat. A man so sincere has come under so much scrutiny, and yet people love to blame him rather than blame themselves for what the do not like. People love to blame the leader.

But be warned, I am not trying to make you feel bad, but rather understand my perspective. I am incredibally pleased with the responsibility of you people, to come to terms with the truth. I have seen Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen rise from one of the lesser candidates to almost first in the polls, I can only commend you, every man and women in Etaros. You are treating your leaders well, and ultimately for one to gain what he wants he must treat those in charge with respect and mateship. It is obvious that the man is a friend of the people, otherwise he would not have given them the right to even kick him out of his rightful position. He has done no wrong, and only good. Yet he accepts the idea that the people he loves, and actually cares more deeply than he has been asked to, can possibly throw his name with disgust. I have only respect for a man, for a leader who is moved to tears from the support of his people. Surely you all saw his response when the polls began to shift. Does a normal leader sob with heartwarmth when his people respond with kindness? I would say only one answer and that would be 'No'.

From what is expected of him, he does so much more. His duties as the leader of Etaros are simply to run the nation, and benefit the people. And he goes so much more beyond that. Do you see such people as Ivana Kasparov sobbing when he hears the hardship of one citizen? Do you see Ivana Kasparov evidently desiring a fruitful future for Etaros and every citizen within, even if the party is not voted into power of seat in the next election? No. The obvious answer for your nation, and seat of power would have to be to the man who is most passionate. Because he who is most passionate, does the batter job. He who is most passionate, will commit himself longer and harder than what is expected of him. He who is most passionate will cry at the mention of hardship for his people. And he who is most passionate will rejoice with the people, even if he does not obtain the right of rulingship. And people I must ask you to search deep within yourselves, 'Who is most passionate?'

There is only one option in my own mind, and that would be the candidate, and humble equal citizen known as Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen. Surely you must see the facts, the evidence is everywhere. Even when he had absolute power, he was most passionate. And when the people asked him to step down from his absolutionist seat he did with joy for the people, because it was what he wanted. And when the people started to realise who he really was, he remained most passionate and was brought to tears when his people began to support him once again. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, is the man who will go beyond his duties. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen is a man who will go beyond his means. Time and time again he has proven that, and in all honestly has earned that rightful seat as Erasat of the newly democratic version of Etaros. You must also see what the people of Etaros want. Below, you will find some quotes from some helpful Etarosi citizens who were willing to help me write this article.

"... Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen from the beginning has been a supporter of both my individual and national wellbeing. Even when he most probably could have ignored me and my troubles, he was kind enough to provide support for my family in its eventual time of need. When I went bankrupt, it was under his administration which allowed me and my family to remain with a home, and a roof above our heads. And now after I have managed to get back on my feet, I still gain support from the man even though it seemed unlikely that he was to remain in power. Most certainly, I will be voting for Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen in the next election. He supported me in my time of need, and it is my duty to do the same for him. I imagine that other citizens of Etaros have a similar obligation, as people worthy of respect."
- Man of Three Children, and Wife - Divorced

"... Under the administration of Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, I would have to say that the single largest benefit to me would be that he stands for both the right of the worker, and both the benefit of the corporation. I started working in the Pink Bunny Cola factory, and when times were fairly hard I always remained confident that Erasito had the situation under control. I was able to keep my job when it looked like I was going to lose it, I was able to increase my work happiness even. Truly, he cares for the backbone of society - the average worker. Under his system, I have seen major, major assistance for both my friends and family also in their relative jobs. Unfortunately, we are all normal working class so we cant always afford everything. But Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen has stood up for my rights as an employee, and its time now for me to stand up for him."
- Man of Two Children, Second Marriage

"I am actually really surprised at the delicate balance which Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen has managed to obtain. But somehow it is managed, and I fear that with his replacement will come turmoil - since the balance will be shifted perhaps off its current axis. Starting a small business was relatively simple in Etaros, and it did struggle a little in the beginning. With some extra support schemes under the administration of Erasito, my company is now flourishing and making more profit than ever. My employees are happy in their jobs, and I am happy with my profit. Normally one would imagine that either would be somewhat unhappy, but not under the leadership of this man. No, the reason I was able to achieve such things, and the reason why I have been successful in my own endeavours (including my business), was simply Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen. I will be voting for him next election, so that my company continues to remain a major player in my relative industries. I am confident that in his next term as Erasat, I will attain another three new levels to grow my company."
- Business Operator, No Children

As you can see friends, the truth of the matter is that Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen is a man who stands for success, and not defeat. Achievement, would be his middle name if it werent for his actual name, Etaros. See, with the nation as his middle name, it ensures that he his the best. It ensures that he is in fact the man who can operate it best. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen is family, and he is my brother as well as yours. This is why I care for the man, this is why I would like to see him in power again next election. He is your brother also, and millions of Etarosi support him. Truly, if one was a genuine man or woman, he would vote for the long-term success in Etaros. He has done this so far, so let this most passionate man again, build the nation and its people. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, for the people, by the people. Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, for what is right, for what makes you successful. And Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen, the most passionate candidate in this election.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your speedy reply to my message. Though you are humble and downplay the generosity of your acts, they are to be commended. You are indeed a wise and compassionate leader, friend, and confidante. I have been convinced by your utmost kindness that you are indeed a trustworthy companion on the stage of worldly affairs, and also of those domestic. It is, I must say, a great lifting of my heart that I am able to write you as a major contender in national elections, no doubt thanks to you and the wisdom of your people. However, some organizations are not the fruit of wisdom, generosity, or even common decency.

The Vinyatírion Economic/Intelligence/Readiness Treaty of Allied States has failed in all essence to bring about the revolution that it so welcomed. The conglomeration of states that professed a single message has been embroiled in bitter rivalry and broken promises that lie deep within the alliance's charter. And those very same articles that speak of delegations to an Executive Council have not even gone into effect! I am, in the least, very upset that it appears all the political and diplomatic capital I invested into the alliance has gone mostly wasted, save our friendship and a couple of others. When our dear friend, the DDR, was in a spot of deep trouble due to aggression, no Military Pact member offered to help, though that situation was due to a small technicality. I believe, Lord Blue, that I have reached the point: VERITAS is not working.

For this reason, I will be seeking a summit in my nation regarding the matter, to encourage more alliance activity. I will not wait for years and continue investing in a defunct alliance, and I encourage you to align with me. If I am re-elected, which I sorely hope I will be, then I will promptly announce my intentions. I feel that at this time, the entire list of signatories could declare themselves separated from the treaty, and no negative effects would come in place. Such lack of activity in an alliance of the most elite nations in existence is embarrassing. If you would not mind us meeting in a destination of your preference to further discuss the issue, it would be enthralling. I intend to contact the DDR about the situation as well. A sort of trio of concerned leaders is always most impacting.

In another matter, I would like to graciously thank you for informing me of Mr. Henry Bankford. I will be contacting him soon for a meeting. I am surprised he is not the spokesman of a needy political party in one of the Union's close friends. His skill with words are impressive and deeply moving, and I must say I have no shame in wet eyes from his writings.

On the discussion of your fund managers, I would be greatly pleased to host them. I have always sought better economic opportunity, most noted with my leasing of space on the Dominion's famed Machiavelli Station (which still needs to be occupied) and my membership in two active trade organizations. The development of a galactic naval force was also an attempt to boost trade and the Etarosi economy significantly, which it certainly has. If you are willing to invest something in the Etarosi economy, I welcome it with embracing arms and a firm hand. Perhaps we could discuss such matters further in our pre-summit meeting. I have been meaning to talk to Knootian delegates about the sale of Hvittsted for some time anyway, so economic talks are of great importance.

In the last sentences of this letter, I want to once again commend you for your great works. You are indeed the most trustworthy companion I have come into contact with, even more so than the Elentari herself. I feel that other leaders are only interested in their well-being, and care not for the welfare of others that are not within their bounds of power. You, my friend, are different in so many ways. I cannot wait to meet with you once again.

In brotherhood,

D'Erasito.

Although I must name your cause honorable, I unfortunately cannot stand beside you on all issues. With your reference to the Atlantic Situation brought up by the DDR of Knootoss, I can honestly say that it was under my own decision that the Austar Union would not provide automatic assistance to their interests in the Excalbian Isles. I must stress in relavence to this treaty in question, that no states are bound to help allies of the VERITAS signatories. If you require some further observation on my own behalf, I can provide some documentation in the next message. But I have to defend my position that I dont wish to become involved in a needless conflict. In fact, if it were not for the treaty I would show support for the succession of the Soveriegn State of Saxmere. But alas I am bound by all means, and am forced to trust that others have the wisdom to handle the situation as I would.

On the other hand, I would have to agree with you that at the very least, the VERITAS treaty is thus on the brink of inexistance. Its law and documents remain in effect of course, since nobody has elected to make it defunct. However in the means of activity, I do say that the alliance has become more useless than useful to me. I have not seen much gain from becoming a member, and to be completely honest I only remain a signatory to that alliance for associational purposes only. Afterall, it is not often when I am called upon anyway. As a man whom advocates individualistic resposibility for alliances and relations with other states, verses a corporate system of identity, I am neither one to put any particular effort into the VERITAS pact unless it was to show signs of improvement. I do not believe that the members and co-signatories in question would be all that interested at all in furthering along its texts. True, it has been neglected at large by both the Menelmacari and C'tani states - yet I find it needless to point a finger of blame at anyone in particular. It is as it is, and nothing more.

However, given my above sentiments I am most grateful for the invitation for a pre-summit meeting. I think perhaps it may provide for some interest for a small-time committee delegated by itself the task to discuss issues relavant to the alliance charters, and also perhaps to include a minor conversation in regards to our own relational activity between our trio of states. I must say off the record that I am not fond of the DDR of Knootoss and his conspiracies, however I am open to their presence. I would much prefer that it was just between ourselves. Maybe it would be more suitable if I met with yourself in seperate to the pre-summit meeting perhaps? I do not know, but know that I am open to the discussion of the topic. I am a little tied up here in the Union with internal matters, and a foriegn meeting with a couple of guests whom are currently staying within these borders, but please mail me the details at least so I can let you know in full effect.

I will not go further to convince you to see things from my point of view, for I am of the belief that you are wise enough to see truth, and strong enough to resist that which challenges truth. I do not mean to wholly condemn the alliance, I simply mean to point out it is deeply flawed at this stage. A boost of activity is necessary to push ahead of others in the world stage, or so I believe. I will not challenge your personal decision on the Knootian-Excalbian situation, because to do so would insuate that I am wiser and more intelligent, obviously not true.

Though your lack of fondness for the DDR is slightly disappointing, it is fully understandable in the circumstances that have taken place in the recent past. I have found myself more distant from an historic friend of the Lietuv/Etarosi people, though I blame most of the distance upon the Prime Minister herself. I find her...less than cordial, shall we say? Regardless, I insist that she, or a delegate, be present at our pre-summit meeting. However, I have no problem with respecting your wishes, and I can arrange for your arrival several days prior to the meeting itself. In that way, we will be able to discuss personal things without a lingering Knootian presence. I will, of course, reserve the same for the delegate(s) of the DDR after our meeting.

I have decided upon a date and time for your personal arrival, though I must contact Knootoss before I set a date for the meeting. If you are unable to arrive on the requested day, do not hesitate to say. I am very flexible and willing to adjust as your needs require. At this time, I feel that the morning of June 10 is suitable for our needs. I will be hosting the pre-summit meeting and our personal meeting in Eledhwen Palace, which is several kilometers north of New Itaros. Please respond as soon as possible.

________________________________________________________________

Greetings,

It has been a very long time since we last spoke, or even talked. I have been extremely busy during the past few years with internal matters and those of pressing international importance, as I am sure your situation has been similar. I do not believe that we have been able to become closely acquainted, a fact which I regard with deep regret. I am, however, very aware of your government policies, some of which I do not support. Regardless, I find that you provide stable leadership for your nation in this fast-paced technological era.

Unfortunately, not all organizations remain above water in this time, which is a noted problem in VERITAS. I believe that you can testify to this fact in the recent situation with Excalbian Isles, though the matter was very confused and even I was unable to lend a helping hand due to a number of circumstances. At current time, the organization has been stagnant and has remained in a same state since its founding. Etarosi attempts to boost the intelligence and economic sector have all but failed, and I feel that staying power is not power at all, it is simply potential energy. Energy is designed to be used, if I may say, and VERITAS has not been put into use. We must attempt to accelerate the alliance and its pacts in order to stay above water, and soar above other like organizations.

For this reason, I would like to arrange a summit in which all VERITAS signatories will be invited. It will be hosted in Eledhwen Palace, located several kilometers north of the Etarosi capital, New Itaros. However, it is because Knootoss has been a very close ally of ours historically, that I insist that you come to a pre-summit meeting with myself and a delegate from Austar Union, hopefully Lord Blue himself. This way, a strong sect could promote a singular ideal for the entire alliance, and provide a stronger voice than could mine alone. It is imperative that you come, my Lady, for we must gain some ground in this matter. I will not see this famed alliance turn into a stagnated pond. I would rather see it be a flowing stream, if not a river of opportunity.

The date which I have set for our pre-summit meeting is June 14. If this unacceptable, I am willing to adjust to your needs, but I request that it not be before June 12 or after June 17, due to separate matters of state. Please respond as soon as possible.

I am wholly flattered by your comments brother, and I thank you very much on behalf and with regards to them. In the meantime, I agree wholeheartedly that much of the anti-Knootian sentience comes from a personal dislike for their Prime Minister, Galadriël nos Círdan. She seems at first during her rule that she was a benefit to the Dutch and to our own interests, however lately I am certain that power perhaps has corrupted her rulingship. Such a sad thing when a leader is turned from his own compassion and growth as a normal sentient being, into someone whom considers himself bulletproof per say. I understand what its like however, I will not hide the fact that previous leaders of my own nation had been under such corruption. It was unfortunately the pride before the downfall, and I was left to pick up the pieces.

Anyhow, with regards to our personal meeting previous to the pre-summit in kind, I have checked my schedule and it is possible to re-arrange things to make such a meeting possible. I will certainly also attend the pre-summit if it is okay with you, because I feel I have some valuable perspective to offer on the subject. Whether or not I hold the same values as yourself or the Prime Minister of Knootoss of course is up to subjection. But still, I think it is an honorable cause you have taken upon yourself to attempt to push VERITAS into something less passive as it is today. I agree in some respects, whereby it has somewhat faded into ineffectivity, but whether or not I hold particular interest in forming the treaty into something on the forefront of politics is another matter entirely. I look forward in the meantime in meeting with your personally, to discuss closer association between our two nations.

The sweep of political fervor that rose so quickly in the past weeks was dying down as the election results began to pour forth. Ballots and polls across the nation had been set up in preparation, and the number of people voting for each party seemed to be tremendous. It was quite a sight to see the extremely long lines at the ballot, and all Etarosi had the day off to relax and vote, save government officials, who were given a chance to vote via internet and at work. Most Etarosi did not mind waiting in the lines, and votes for Parliament were very divided. There were many heated debates in the lines as police forces maintained tight control. Fear of another riot was fresh on the minds of all who served in law enforcement. The people had no intentions to riot or cause much trouble now that they had reached a goal, and many were talking about the many pros and cons of each party and their candidates.

At the end of the day, the results were still kept secret. A government-funded television show aired to show results across the nation. A very tall, slim elven woman was the hostess, and when it came time to report the final election results, the entire audience of five hundred went silent.

"Good evening, Etarosi. I am Ani nos Ciryatan, your host. Today as hundreds of millions across the nation voted to elect a new government, foreign nations watch on with great earnest. In recent weeks after the Erasito was named the Conservative Erasatium Party's candidate and pro-Erasito articles were released, the race became very tight. Running against him was VERITAS ambassador Ivana Kasparov, with other candidates showing marginal results in the polls.

"In recent days, the Etarosi Progressive Elven Party has surged in polls, and has thus gained a number of seats in Congress. It remains, however, at a very small minority. This chart displays the percentage of party gains in Congress."

The chart showed the following data with bright colors and the emblem of each party as a backdrop..

Etarosi Democratic Party: 30% of Congress, or 150 seats. Led by Ivana Kasparov. Four of ten provinces elected EDP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 34% of Congress, or 170 seats. Led by the Erasito. Three of ten provinces elected ECEP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 15% of Congress, or 75 seats. Led by Marcus Dietomna. Two of ten provinces elected ECFP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Lietuv Renaissance Party: 10% of Congress, or 50 seats. Led by Joseph Van Arsden. One of ten provinces elected LRP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Etarosi Progressive Elven Party: 6% of Congress, or 30 seats. No apparent party leader yet. No provinces elected EPEP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Etarosi Christian Democrat Party: 2% of Congress, or 10 seats. Led by Rinauld d'Asonnier. No provinces elected ECDP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 2% of Congress, or 10 seats. Led by Nojas Relluker. No provinces elected ECaP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.

Etarosi Socialist Workers' Party: Less than 1% of Congress, or 1 seat. Led by Nikolaus Vaschev. No provinces elected ESWP candidates to the position of provincial magistrate.
______

"As a result of these wide-ranging electoral numbers, the current victor of the elections will be determined by what coalitions take place. However, at the present time, d'Erasito has been elected the Congressional President, and thus the leader of the Erasat." With this announcement, cheers and boos erupted from the audience. Some were in tears, though not many. Others were simply ecstatic or depressed. "The Erasito will likely make an announcement soon, and rumors that he could align with the ECFP are not unfounded. The true victor will emerge when coalitions are created. More on these stunning election results after this break.."

On other networks, speculation on coalitions set straight to work. "If the Erasito aligns himself with the ECFP, he will not only go against the ECEP platform, he will also end his career as the Erasito! There is no way he would make such a move!" Another spoke up. "I disagree. If he does align himself with the ECFP, then he will also align himself with the LRP and ECP if he can get away with it. The Erasito is looking for a majority he can work with. He'll likely adjust a new Constitution to allow the Erasatium mostly full power, but grant Congress some ruling power as well. Compromise is not unknown to the democratic system."

So thus began secret backroom deals to get a majority, though it was blatantly obvious who was who's enemy. Kasparov vs. Eledhwen. Left vs. Right. It was a true showdown within the halls of party headquarters as the smaller parties chose to join a coalition or create their own. The outcome, at this point, was truly in smoke.

Election results for each province..

New Itaros Administrative Region
Provincial Magistrate: Janice Kotz (ECEP)

New Itaros Provinicial Congress: 100 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 10% of the New Itaros Congress. (10 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 80% of the New Itaros Congress. (80 seats)

Etarosi Progressive Elven Party: 10% of the New Itaros Congress. (10 seats)

The NIAR covers over one hundred million people. Most live within the city limits, but a large suburban area has sprouted. Only a small portion, 2%, of the province is considered rural.

Maiunor
Provincial Magistrate: Tulos nos Círdan (EDP)

Maiunor Provincial Congress: 200 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 40% of the Maiunor Congress. (80 seats)

Lietuv Renaissance Party: 30% of the Maiunor Congress. (60 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 20% of the Maiunor Congress. (40 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 10% of the Maiunor Congress. (20 seats)

Coalition of the LRP, ECEP, and ECaP create a 60% majority.

Maiunor is located in the northern central region of Etaros, northwest of NIAR. It is largely mountainous, and home to the secret Maiun Mountain Training Facility for NESCOM. The province presides over two hundred million people.

Golgimal
Provincial Magistrate: Burton Michaels (ECFP)

Golgimal Provincial Congress: 150 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 6% of the Golgimal Congress. (9 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 74% of the Golgimal Congress. (111 seats)

Etarosi Christian Democrat Party: 12% of the Golgimal Congress. (18 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 8% of the Golgimal Congress. (12 seats)

Golgimal rests on the southern coast of Etaros, and is by far the most authoritarian conservative province in the nation. It is also home to the largest percent population of Christians, reaching nearly 40%. The climate, warm and dry year-round, is enjoyed by 150 million citizens.

New Hvittsted
Provincial Magistrate: Adrian Weston (LRP)

New Hvittsted Provincial Congress: 300 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 25% of the New Hvittsted Congress. (75 seats)

Lietuv Renaissance Party: 50% of the New Hvittsted Congress. (150 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 20% of the New Hvittsted Congress. (60 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 4% of the New Hvittsted Congress. (12 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 1% of the New Hvittsted Congress. (3 seats)

Coalition of the LRP and ECaP create a 54% majority.

New Hvittsted was originally founded as a small haven for ethnic Lietuvs that wished to preserve their traditions and identity. However, it has become one of the largest provinces in the nation, though has continued strict traditions and customs passed down from Lietuv ancestors while progressing in world affairs. New Hvittsted is a leftist province, though due to disagreements in party doctrines concerning trade and the economy, has declined an LRP and EDP coalition. New Hvittsted is home to over three hundred million people. (Two hundred million are Lietuv)

Colenyai
Provincial Magistrate: Normän Viis (ECEP)

Colenyai Provincial Congress: 100 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 35% of the Colenyai Congress. (35 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 35% of the Colenyai Congress. (35 seats)

Etarosi Progressive Elven Party: 16% of the Colenyai Congress. (16 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 9% of the Colenyai Congress. (9 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 5% of the Colenyai Congress. (5 seats)

Coalition of the ECEP, EPEP, and ECP creates a 51% majority.

Colenyai is one of the most rural provinces (though ironically the largest in land mass) of the nation on the eastern coast, harboring only 10 million citizens. It contains a 90% Elven population, and is the most environmentally protected province. Colenyai is noted for its pleasant beaches and beautiful mountains.

Bayami
Provincial Magistrate: Lois Laker (EDP)

Bayami Provincial Congress: 100 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 60% of the Bayami Congress. (120 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 30% of the Bayami Congress. (60 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 10% of the Bayami Congress. (20 seats)

Bayami is the nation's tourist capital, bringing in over one hundred billions Etarosi Credits per year. It is beautiful and extremely comfortable. Bayami rests on the northern coast, and is the smallest province in land area. However, the libertarian province is home to 200 million people.

Ricalo Midel
Provincial Magistrate: Maria Gonzales (ECFP)

Ricalo Midel Provincial Congress: 100 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 30% of the Ricalo Midel Congress. (30 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 50% of the Ricalo Midel Congress. (60 seats)

Etarosi Socialist Workers' Party: 10% of the Ricalo Midel Congress. (10 seats)

Etarosi Christian Democrat Party: 10% of the Ricalo Midel Congress. (10 seats)

Coalition of the ECFP and ECDP creates a 60% majority.

Ricalo Midel is an impoverished province of 40 million people, though they continue to remain hardline conservatives. Social programs are turning the desperate situation around, but heavy pollution from factories and deforestation have left those who live in the province decidedly unhealthy, with a life expectancy 80% of that of other Etarosi. It is located in the central region of the country, dense with rainforests and constantly humid.

Bostovia
Provincial Magistrate: Tíndar Saíralindël (ECEP)

Bostovia Provincial Congress: 300 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 30% of the Bostovia Congress. (90 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 30% of the Bostovia Congress. (90 seats)

Lietuv Renaissance Party: 10% of the Bostovia Congress. (30 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Freedom Party: 10% of the Bostovia Congress. (30 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 5% of the Bostovia Congress. (15 seats)

Etarosi Socialist Workers' Party: 5% of the Bostovia Congress. (15 seats)

Etarosi Progressive Elven Party: 5% of the Bostovia Congress. (15 seats)

Etarosi Christian Democrat Party: 3% of the Bostovia Congress. (9 seats)

Etarosi Environmental Liberation Party: 2% of the Bostovia Congress. (6 seats)

Coalition of EDP, LRP, ESWP, EPEP, and the EELP create a 52% majority.

Bostovia is likely the nation's most diverse and politically active provinces, and the largest with 350 million people. As recent elections have shown, the people are widely diffrentiating in political beliefs, and as such create a highly diverse society. Bostovia is located along the western coast, and is very hilly and dry. It is also home to the largest metropolis of cities in the nation, connecting five major cities along many kilometers of coast.

Aínël
Provincial Magistrate: Galadriël nós Fëanor (EDP)

Aínël Provincial Congress: 100 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 15% of the Aínël Congress. (15 seats)

Etarosi Progressive Elven Party: 45% of the Aínël Congress. (45 seats)

Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party: 30% of the Aínël Congress. (30 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 10% of the Aínël Congress. (10 seats)

Coalition of the EPEP and EDP creates a 60% majority.

Aínël is the only province that is fully Elven, and the only province that is almost completely rural. With a minimal twenty million residents, the large area its borders cover on the southeastern coast is comfortably spacious. Small streams to flowing rivers; bays, beaches, to inland lakes; rolling hills of grass and forest to ice-capped mountains; Aínël is likely the most beautiful province in the Erasat, due to environmental protectionist policies.

Adonna
Provincial Magistrate: Alexander Castillo (EDP)

Adonna Provincial Congress: 100 representatives

Etarosi Democratic Party: 30% of the Adonna Congress. (30 seats)

Etarosi Socialist Workers' Party: 40% of the Adonna Congress. (40 seats)

Etarosi Progressive Elven Party: 20% of the Adonna Congress. (20 seats)

Etarosi Capitalizt Party: 10% of the Adonna Congress. (10 seats)

Coalition of EDP and ESWP creates a 70% majority.

Adonna is a heavily industrial province, providing a large majority of Etarosi manufacturing jobs. Adonna is, as a result, rather heavily polluted and unhealthy. The province is landlocked in the southwest area of the nation, most in the desert region, though northern parts are quite mountainous and temperate. Seventy million citizens live in the province of Adonna.

The New Itaros Monitor

Supreme Republican of Ilek-Vaad Bashes Elections
Etarosi response angry, upset after long months of sought reform

Editorial by The New Itaros Monitor staff

New Itaros, Etaros ---- After long, arduous months of sought democratic reform by honest Etarosi, it has become apparent that ignorant foreigners have decidedly ignored an issue until later news reports and concluded an outcome from last-minute information gathering.

As history has shown, the democratic nation of Ilek-Vaad has been a very xenophobic and strangely oppositional force in world affairs. In apparent attempts to meddle in affairs not of their own, the Vaadian government has attempted to anger and upset Etaros and its allies several times in the past, especially during the recent showdown concerning Menelmacari purchases of uninhabited lands in the provincial colony of Luín Anarórë. Must we repeat again? Uninhabited lands that belonged to the government of Etaros. Ilek-Vaad has still refused to simply believe this because we are an "evil" nation that "oppresses" its people. Dictatorship is not opression.

With recent democratic reforms, there is absolutely no way that elections under the close watch of extremists on the left and right could have been rigged or a sham, although the beligerently ignorant First Republican would have others believe oppositely. The recent elections in our nation were under intense eyes of democratic groups from around the world, and especially those that popped up throughout Etaros. These elections are only a "sham" because the Erasito has been named the Congressional President. Had another candidate been elected, the First Republican would have kinder words to say, no doubt.

To call our dear leader "totalitarian" is absolutely ludicrous and of the most ridiculous statements that this staff has ever heard. Ëtaros Eledhwen is likely the most compassionate and liberal leaders that the Lietuv/Etarosi people have ever been under the guidance of, much less supported. The Erasito has done a magnificent job in maintaining high civil rights throughout his tenure, and his 78% approval rating that was collected several months ago (before democratic reformers began protests) should show the Vaadians that we have been very happy with our leader. He has continued his rule because we wanted him to, not because he cheated. Ëtaros Eledhwen is not a man to cheat where his people are concerned.

Last, this staff must profess its unnerving anger that a national leader would be so low as to call a fellow national leader an animal. The Erasito is a Noldorin Elf, and if the good First Republican has something to say about that, he may. Regardless of what the First Republican believes about the Erasito's policies, it is wrong and unfair to attack someone personally and insult them to the highest degree with the lowest of tactics. This newspaper has not found any historic evidence that concludes the Erasito thought of the First Republican in a negative manner, directly, and moreso has concluded that the Erasito has never personally insulted the First Republican or his friends. The derogatory remarks made by the insolent Vaadian are unacceptable.

This staff, however, will recognize that we have called the First Republican a number of things, and do not hesitate to do so. We are a private organization with absolutely no funds from the government, and will say what we wish. In the future, we encourage that the Etarosi shun foreign governments that continue to remain ignorant, and continue to go about daily tasks as if they do not matter. We cannot be slowed by the First Republican's remarks, but we can only be assured that we are not dumb or ignorant, for there are animate examples alive in the words of the First Republican.

The First Republican was reading through the LNS Lassic Daily , which had reprinted the New Itaros Monitor editorial word for word. He paused and read it. He smiled and looked up at his aide Mr. Al Azarad.

"You know Layne, I've been called far worse than an animal, and yet I've never even responded. I never even thought to dignify such insults with any sort of response. I've noticed that foreigners tend to be awfully thin skinned." He paused and shrugged " I can't imagine why anyone would take a public post if they get upset about public insults, it's part of the job."

Mr. Al Azarad smiled "Well sir, at least you got their attention. I'm shocked that Lord Indigo hasn't publicly pilloried you again. You know that monarchs and dictators have to be thin skinned, any insult is an attack on their authority, and their authority is all they have. They lack a clear mandate from the People."

The First Republican shrugged "Oh well. I hope they at least start to become more imaginative in insulting me. Besides, I said I would refrain from Calling Eledhwen an animal, I don't want to offend any animals."

Mr. Al Azarad paused "Look here, the Costa-Tula Press referred to you as an 'Obstructionist and petty pandering politician.'"

The First Republican hmmed "Petty Pandering Politician? Sounds like a 'Batman' villian."

Government Coalition Formed
Ëtaros Eledhwen secures leadership position

New Itaros, Etaros ---- In a suprising chain of events yesterday, d'Erasito announced last night that he had formed a coalition government with a number of parties, introducing the first time that Etaros has witnessed the democratic system at work.

Last night at Eledhwen Palace to a televised audience, the Erasito made the official announcement that he created a government coalition so that his power would be secure. "I am pleased to inform the Etarosi people that I have formed a coalition government that will protect your interests, your safety, and your rights." He went further to say, "We must remain strong, firm, and potent in this time of democratic transition." The Erasito also hinted that he would work with Ivana Kasparov, who issued a brief congratulations and optimistic message that welcomed a "cordial gathering" when it came time to create the new Constitution.

The new coalition government, which has been called the Wildcard Coalition by political pundits, is a twisted unity of several diffrentiating parties. Surprisingly, the ECEP did not align with the ECFP, calling it an "extremist group of right-wingers who seek not freedom, but seek conformity." Not even the nearly theocratic conservative party of Christian Democrats will align with the ECFP, calling it "an assault on humanity." The ECFP supports measures that would heavily tax religious institutions.

Among the parties in the new coalition, several are actually centrist to leftist, namely the Etarosi Progressive Elven Party, which said it agreed to joining the coalition because, "we have similar values in the social and economic arena, regardless of our ideas concerning government power." The Erasito has said that his coalition, "seeks not to unite those of common political ideas so much as it is an attempt to create a strong government that can negotiate a formal opinion on all matters, domestic and foreign." The Etarosi Capitalizt Party, a neo-liberal institution that supports a policy that borders very close to anarchism, has also aligned itself with the Etarosi Conservative Erasatium Party. Party Chairman Nojas Relluker stated today that, "I am optimistic about this coalition that has been created. I, along with my fellow party members, can see negotiations on positions from each party within the coalition. A consensus must, and can, be reached."

Perhaps the most surprising party within the new coalition is that of the Lietuv Renaissance Party, the most centrist in Etaros. Party Chairman and former Foreign Minister Joseph Van Arsden said in a press release that he is "excited and optimistic about this union with President Eledhwen. All Etarosi can rest assured that I will be working closely with the President and other party leaders to create a consensus."

Ivana Kasparov, party chairwoman of the Etarosi Democratic Party, has been fairly quiet on the matter, though says she feels "no hard feelings toward any party. Just because we are not allies does not mean we are enemies. I think my party and the others in the Congress can work together to create a comfortable, friendly atmosphere where debate is civil and greeted with optimism." The leftist candidate failed to get enough votes to win the Congressional Presidency. After all results have come through, the Erasito appeared to scrape up just enough votes to win a majority, at fifty-one percent. Kasparov received forty-three percent of the vote, with the rest skewed among other candidates. A plurality of forty percent is required for any candidate to claim victory.

There is no apparent opposition coalition, mostly because the remaining parties are too different in ideologies and philosophies for any coalition to function properly. However, at any time any party may declare they wish to leave the ranks of the government coalition. If the Erasito proves to anger the LRP or EPEP, he could face serious trouble ahead.

In the next few weeks, the First Etarosi Congress will meet in Gajsa Stadium. There, they will determine where and when the new legislature should be built, and how the second body of Congress should be chosen or elected. At current, it is expected that a Council of Magistrates will be created in which provincial magistrates will meet bi-annually to discuss matters of state. Also within the next few weeks, the Congress will have to convene to discuss a new Constitution, which is already being drafted by government officials. The Erasito has said that he will likely look to create a royal family with some government, though opposition is immensly strong.

Regardless, the Erasito will not officially become the Congressional President for another three months. The Congress, however, will be sworn in next week. At this time, the path that will be taken is under question, to be examined fully by representatives nationwide. Etarosi are demanding something to be done about Luín Anarórë and its recent disrespect for Etarosi authority, among other things that they consider extremely important and urgent. The First Congress of Etaros will be under immense pressure until it can meet these desires of the people.

Vaadian Remarks Fuel More Anger
Ignorance of government officials from Ilek-Vaad annoy Etarosi people

New Itaros, Etaros ---- In recent days, increasing attacks upon the Erasat and its ways have been projected by the government of Ilek-Vaad, sparking outrage within the Etarosi government and people. Official government responses have been largely curt and cold.

In a brief response, the spokesman for the First Republican in Ilek-Vaad justified its government's ignroance of internal matters and affairs of Etaros by saying, "they...have at no time offered anything but belligerence and indignation at our democracy." The response from Eledhwen Palace was surprisingly strong.

"I have never in my life heard such lies. I have offered belligerence at the astounding resistance of the Vaadian government for comprimise, astounding annoyance at Vaadian attempts to blockade sovereign lands and people of the Erasat, and astounding indignation at the unfair assaults by the First Republican upon our civilized way of life. I have no qualms with democracy: I feel that it does indeed work in some places, and if the people wish it to be, so it shall. Before reforms in our nation, our closest allies included democracies," remarked the Erasito.

More anger was sparked when the Vaadian Minister of Foreign Affairs made an inflammatory remark: "oppression is at the very heart of any dictatorship, if you look up dictatorship in a dictionary it will say absolute despotic and opressive control. I mean how long has Etaros even had freedom of speech and press? One year ? Six months? Welcome to the 19th century Etaros."

The Erasito likewise responded, "Dictionaries have limited definitions, and I would advise that the good Minister use real examples rather than hypothetical definitions. If he had bothered to look into our 'dictatorship', he would have found it was a semi-absolutionist elven monarchy with deep compassion for the people and a standard of high civil liberties. Dictatorships do not always look to benefit only those in government. And by the way, this country has had freedom of the press for years. Freedom of speech has been improved in my attempts to please to people."

Attacks upon the Erasito have not only been foreign, however, with many leftist groups crying the same message as Ilek-Vaad. "Democracy is not something we are used to. The Erasito will adjust it to his own needs and attempt to brainwash all Etarosi," remarked a protestor. Others shouted similar statements, calling him an opressive dictator and unfit king. Most Etarosi are resentful of Vaadian remarks, though, and continue to say that Ilek-Vaad should mind its own business. Joseph Van Arsden, the party chairman of the Lietuv Renaissance Party, said, "if the government of Ilek-Vaad cannot manage to research what it wishes to comment on, then it should not bother. It has only made itself look stupid in the eyes of respectful Etarosi."

The question of how relations will continue are under deep analysis at this time, and political pundits are calling for a closing of diplomatic channels with the country.

Response thingy

To: the Erasito Ëtaros Eledhwen of the Omnaeus Erasat of Etaros;
From: Prime Minister Galadriël nos Círdan of the Dutch Democratic Republic of Knootoss;
Subject: Re: Pre-Summit Meeting

Thank you for your kind letter. It has indeed been too long since we last met. How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives and my days have been spent with full commitment for the Knootian people and the struggles facing her. Immortality always reminds me that time is neutral and it does not change things. Only with courage and initiative, leaders change things – for better or worse.

That said, I agree with you that Etaros and Knootoss should combine their energies to revitalise and energise the treaty of Vinyatírion. This time requires courage and initiative, qualities both our nations possess.

I will therefore agree happily to attend your summit in Eledhwen Palace and the pre-summit in person, should I be re-elected. If this should not come to pass, I will arrange for my successor to attend.

In friendship,

Galadriël
