Syskeyia

Off the southern coast of Syskeyia, a warship made its patrol.
The warship in question, the Sanctus Petrus, was painted maroon, as were most vessels in the Syskeyian fleet. Like her sister vessels in the Syskeyian navy, she in no way could match in size Zheng He’s great Chinese vessels of nearly a century earlier; but save for the castlelike structures on the forecastle and stern, she was nearly matched her Ming ancestors in miniature. But it could not be mistaken for a Chinese vessel, even a miniature one, for a dark blue Crusader cross adorned each and every sail.
Joachim Subandrio, the captain of the Petrus, stood on the forcastle, turned toward the awakening dawn as his ship began to move into the open sea.
Little did he know that he would soon take part in events that would change Syskeyia’s history forever...
