A Letter to Falastur from Nedalia

Nedalia

To His Excellency Matthew VI of the great Empire of Falastur,

I am writing to you today to first and foremost to greet and check up that all is well. It has been a while since we have made contact, even agreeing that Falastur would be the first nation that I was to step foot in outside of Nedalia. You have been a fine friend to our humbe nation and we thank you dearly for that. A few major and minor happenings have transpired in Nedalia over the past few months.

The most important, ofcourse, was the Battle of the Southern Islands. On the southern coast of Nedalia sit 2 islands that block off our full connection with the ocean, belonging to know one. The Holy Saints, our western neighbors with whom we are separated by a channel, moved on to the islands, called in Nedalia Temple and East Islands. They would have blocked off our southern coast, which would ruin our economy, so we moved the military in as well. The main battle took place on East Island, and it cost us just over 700 men in a timespan of a day. The Holy Saints, I believe, lost in the region of 20, and a few aircrafts. On the eve of the 3rd day of the battle, our government and The Holy Saints got in contact and an agreement was reached. We agreed upon further land upon the southern coast of the continent, and THS would get the islands. Latao forces had also gotten involved, but we quickly separated ourselves from that whole situation.

You would be happy to know that the Nedalia Premier League, so far, has been a huge success. Minister Nader Homsi asked me to get some Falasturian players, so if you got them, bring them over. Attendance has been great, profits are showing in most of the clubs, and your personal club Shoreland United sits in the 2nd spot, behind only Rappor. You have on your team the wonder of Nedalian football, the 18 year old Nene. What a captivating player, and his worth was estimated at $25 million.

The Kafra International Airport has been completed and also has been a huge success. People have been very impressed by the construction job and the state of the art design. It brings a lot of culture into the city, a distinctly Falasturian airport in the middle of Nedalia. It’s a shame the airline never materialized, but we have been working on a national airline, and indeed, our first destination would be the Empire of Falastur.

Ms. Domina has been updating us weekly, and she said that the Falasturian people are phenomenal. The hospitality and friendliness towards her, she claims, has been second to known. We do not doubt that one bit.

Your Excellency, we do hope to hear from you soon and update us on the happenings in your country. Till our next encounter, I bid you goodbye.

OOC: Yeah, I've been forum-inactive for a week or two recently. My apologies.

IC:

President Bren of Nedalia,

Indeed it has been some time since we spoke, and I must apologise, but unfortunately I have recently been detained by affairs of state, and preparations and dealings for the ins and outs of my 18th birthday, officially the coming of age in Falastur, and the first time a ruler of Falastur has ever celebrated such an event while they hold the throne. I profusely apologise, and give my word that I will try my best to remain in contact more readily in the future.

With regards to the brief war between yourself and the Holy Saints, I find this most distressing, but I am glad that the situation has been solved. May I offer my condolences on behalf of the entire Empire for the losses you sustained - having only a year back suffered a great and devastating war, our nation knows exactly how it must feel for you, coming to terms with the price of war. In order that no more may come of this, I offer you the protection of the Falasturian armed forces, should you feel them necessary. Our military is strong, well-trained and well-equipped, and at your disposal if you believe it is right for Nedalia.

I am indeed most pleased at the wonderful success of the Nedalian Premier League. It is always a pleasure to watch a fledgling sporting institution grow, especially when they become prominent and developed so fast as yours. I am very much impressed with the performance of Shoreland United, and have let them know, I eagerly await a free point in my busy schedule to come to the stadium which was so generously named after myself, to watch them play in person. As to the possibility of international transfers, Falasturian professional football is open to such transfers, and as such, Nedalian clubs are free to make offers for any Falasturian club, and if you allow it, the reverse will be permitted also. In addition, you are welcome to establish a minor "advertising campaign" for unattached players - such schemes exist all over Falastur and the empire, whereupon Football governing committees on several levels (local, regional, national, etc) make bids to persuade unattached players to come to their area. The scheme is then supported by any club in the area which is looking to recruit any such players, and the schemes show a roughly 70% success rate in finding attracted players new clubs. Of course, this may not work for Nedalia, but you are welcome to try so anyway.

Regarding the Kafra airport, I am most pleased to hear of its success. It was truly an honour to be able to see Falasturians so busy in reforming the airport to make it such an instrumental piece of Nedalian transport, and I have heard only the best of reports as to the development of the companies involved, regarding the offices set up in Nedalia in conjunction with the creation of the airport. I hope only for the best for your airport, and wish that it may pay off some of the debt I feel is owed to you for making such a close friendship with us. As for the plans for the joint airline, they were put on hold due to issues with Falastur, but are ready to be resurrected at the whim of the Nedalian half of the company.

I am most pleased to hear of Ms. Domina's state of mind regarding Falastur, I have myself found her a most pleasant and agreeable woman, and believe she has proved herself to be perhaps the most cooperative and associative ambassador I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can only echo that Mr. Tebbs has expressed on numerous occasions similar remarks.

As for the events within Falastur, there are many things which have happened, and yet few which warrant specific mention. Life continues as it always does here, some days are worse than others, but all we survive. The empire has stabilised after its Governmental reform, instituting a more Monarchical structure. The system was well-recieved throughout the country - having always had a dominant Monarchy in power, a reform to its structure raises little opposition - yet the changes were large enough to prove debilitating for several months while the country adapted. This is by far the major event in the past year - Falastur has been reasonably quiet in its domestic affairs of late. Added to this, of course, is my own coming to majority - I celebrated my 18th birthday a few weeks back, and although the public celebrations are over, official celebrations are still under way.

I am only sorry that I cannot tell you much more.

Until we meet again...

His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Matthew VI
