Euroslavia
24-04-2005, 20:18
Lady Destra was reviewing her papers given to her each morning on the current events of the world. There were so many nations out there that we hadn't been in contact with. There were so many people out there who needed help. Euroslavia was known for its humanitarian aid and its compassion for those who are less fortunate, but there was only so much that one nation could do.
Lady Destra sighed, and continued to review the papers. She put her hand through her long black hair, and yawned. It's been a while since she had gotten a good night sleep, and she knew that it would be quite a while before that day ever happened.
The day that tensions between nations stopped, wars ceased, and disease no longer existed was the day that she would sleep in. She laughed at that thought, and then went back to her work. A news report on local events in the nation of Greenmanbry had been brought to her attention. The report wasn't of any significance, but the name sounded familiar.
"Greenmanbry...we've interacted before...briefly." It took her a bit of time to think about it, and then suddenly, she remembered.
"Greenmanbry was a fellow member of NATO, when we were part of the alliance. We didn't exactly interact too much, but I always had a respect for them. I wonder how they're nation is doing now-a-days.." she muttered.
It's been a while since I've hosted a foreign diplomat in Euroslavia. Perhaps it was time for a conference? It would be a good idea to discuss current foreign affairs, as well as relations between the nations invited and Euroslavia. It seems as if Euroslavia had gone back into its isolation that it was in well before the Shogunate took power in Arcadia many years ago. The time was right, seeing as the nation had been back on its feet from the civil war, though it seemed like that ended just yesterday.
Lady Destra contacted her Minister of Foreign Affairs, and requested that she come to the throne room immediately. Within five minutes, she arrived, dressed up, and sat at the chair across from Lady Destra's desk. They both felt a little awkward, seeing as Lady Destra usually does her own diplomacy for her nation, and the Minister of Foreign Relations was often neglected. Perhaps it was time to end the stand-off.
"It's good to see you Rebecca. How've you been?" said Lady Destra in an odd manner.
"Things have been pretty quiet." she replied, as she gave the Lady a confused look. "I thought you wouldn't be needing me... ever. Why did you call me down?" as she talked in a rude manner.
"I need your help in choosing what nations should be invited to Euroslavia for a diplomatic summit. I'm looking to invite perhaps four or five nations to Arcadia for a discussion on relations between our nations, as well as relations between the invited nations. I've been looking over the recent events in the world, and have decided to invite a representative from Greenmanbry, as well as a representative from Midlonia; however, I can't seem to find any other nation that would be interested in starting relation with us. Thats why I called you. Perhaps you could send an invitation to the nations of the world, while being extremely selective on who participates. We can't have twenty representatives here. Obviously, nothing good can come out of that. It would be too disruptive. I'm counting on you to make the right decisions, and yes, I'm going to start letting you do your job more often. I admit, keep watch over Euroslavia is a tough task, and I need as much help as I can get." Lady Destra said in an innocent tone. She truly felt bad for basically taking over the Minister of Foreign Relations' job, and felt the tension in the air, but was hoping that reconciliation was in place.
"I'll get to work on that immediately." she whispered. Rebecca gave a slight smile, as to recognize Lady Destra's formal apology, and stood up and walked out of the room.

As you are all aware, Euroslavia is seeking to expand its diplomatic relations with the nations of the world. We are therefore sending an invitation to all of those interested in starting some sort of friendship between their nation and ours to attend a diplomatic summit in our capital city of Arcadia. The topics that we are looking to discuss is the improvement of relations with each individual nation, as well as trade, international affairs, and the current incidents in development. To reserve your spot, simply respond to this invitation with your interest in attending, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We must request that the amount of bodyguards for whomever is representing your nation be kept at a minimum. Leaders of nations will be guaranteed five Euroslav High Guard officers, as well as your own security officers, while diplomats will be ensured three Euroslav High Guard officers. We certainly hope to see a lot of you here in Arcadia.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Storm, Minister of Foreign Affairs
