Dyellian Navy Prepares for Conflict?

OOC: Before I start, this is not a place to post anything that translates into 'my ship's are better than yours'. This is a place for actual RP postings.
Extract from a KTV Broadcast, Dyelli Beybi's only Station that broadcasts wholesale to the rest of Klatch and coincidentally the only non-partisan station in the State.
A rather boring looking man with a moustache is seated at a desk. He pronounces the words with no hint of emotion, "Today the Provincial Government in Cyro has announced the launch of two new Super Heavy Battleships at the Saint Guineford's Naval construction yards..."
The screen flicks to a scene from earlier in the day, where a large ship, oozing with gun turrets is steaming through Saint Guineford's Harbour. For anyone in the know, the configuration would be described as 4 forward turrets, superfiring. There are also a further 3 turrets, superfiring, at the rear. All the turrets for the main armament are located in tripple mounts, probably 16". A further 20 smaller turrets, 10 each side of the superstructure complete the secondary armament. Probably 4" guns, these are all single mounts. The Battleship has a pagoda mast (as usual), it also seems to produce an aweful lot less smoke than typical Dyellian vessel (which makes enough to be regarded as an environmental hazzard in many countries).
"The D.B.P.S. Alexigrad and D.B.P.S. Cyro, launched today are rumoured to be significantly more heavily armoured and armed than the previous Lord Fisher class, as well as having a more complete electronic suite. The Navy has refused to comment at this point as to the exact specifications of the ship, likewise it has refused to comment as to whether the project may have been streamlined due to the threat of internal strife within the Federation."
"The Battleships are expected to begin trials within the weeks. It has been revealed that a further twelve in the class, all named after major population centres, are planned for the near future, provided trials are a success."
The screen now flicks back to the anchor, "In further news, Communist Party MP, Dwain Garth has once again denied allegations that he has been having an affair with lingerie model Christina Friar..."

New Shiron Aerospace Weekly
"The recent sharp upswing in the national economy has meant that the government now has much more money to spend on the military. With the lessons of the invasion still firmly in mind, the government as allocated large amounts of the defense budget toward expanding the RAF. The 15 fighter wings of the RAF are due to get another squadron of fighter aircraft (regulars) and another squadron of fighters manned by reservists, bringing each fighter squadron to a strength of 2 active and 2 reserve fighter squadrons (96 fighters) plus tanker and other squadrons.
9 Wings are being equipped with the new F22D, a more advanced version of the F22 that burn fuel from hydrogen fuel cells and have gravitic drives and scramjets instead of the more conventional jet turbines, and their tanker squadrons are being converted into light transport squadron with the latest version of the C130. 3 Wings will retain their F35s, and the 3 Aerospace interceptor squadrons will gain another squadron of SF1s while their reserve squadrons are expanded just like the 9 F22 Wings are.
This will give the RAF a strength of 144 SF1s, around 1600 F22Ds (eventually) and several hundred older F35s, F22Bs and a few other F22As.
The 2 Space Wings are also slated for expansion, but as both of their principal craft are still in a stage of semi advanced development, that may be some time down the road.
Efforts by the Royal Navy and Royal Guard to get similar budget advantages were defeated apparently by adroit manuevers by Members of Parliment, several of which are highly decorated veterans of the invasion who flew against the invaders during the war.
Complaints about back channel arm twisting by the RAF from the Guard and Navy were dismissed as simply sour grapes.

essentially the SF1 is identical to the Tech Level 9 fighter from Traveller D20 (and associated other Traveller products), with the F22D being a less capable and smaller version of that same craft. The F22D shares only the same airframe as the F22A, otherwise has as much in common with it as a M48A1 has with an M48A5 or a early production model F4 Phantom has with a F4G.
Other spacecraft are Tech Level 9 System defense boats, shuttles and the scout ship, also from Traveller RPG
in Traveller terms, modern day US tech is roughly tech level 8, 1970s - 1980s tech is about tech level 7, the period from roughly 1944 - 70 is roughly Tech level 6, World War I era through early World War II is roughly tech level 5, and Victorian era technology is roughly tech level 4.
Star Trek (original series on) is roughly Tech Level 17, Star Wars would be around tech levels 14 - 16 (a guess there though).

'Pah, bristling with guns indeed, how many secondaries has the new dreadnought got lad?' First Lord of the Admiralty Carl Jones scoffed.
'I dunno, 20 or so, do remember they are still laying down her hull.'*
'Psh, "bristling with guns" stupid communists, what are they trying to do? build up enough of a navy as to think they could outpace the rate at which we could build ours? Pah! What with the new battleships (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v160/Midlonia/Ships/wetbbbig.png), the fourth fortress ship (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v160/Midlonia/Ships/Fortress1.png) nearing completion and god knows how many of our destroyers (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v160/Midlonia/Ships/wetdestroyer.png) lying around.... they'd never stand a chance.' He scoffed again and then clicked off the TV when the next item began and then changed it to a network in New Shiron.
'And here's another! Good greif these people need to be taught we're the masters of the Eastern seas in the Klatch'
'We could always batter them to peices while they're in dock, it'd need alot of clearing, but still...'
The Lord Admiral chuckled and set down the remote.
'Good Idea lad, good idea...'

"Substantial rumor has it that the the RAF conducted weapons tests today of the southern coast. A spacecraft, tentatively identified as a corvette from the Royal Aerospace Force's Space Command, maneuvered in low orbit and fired off a number of orbital munitions that then slammed into the old destroyer "Erin Brokavitch" and destroyed it utterly in a massive explosion.
RAF spokespeople denied the rumor categorically. Aviation experts committed if true it could render surface warships obsolete in the near future. Naval experts hotly contested this claim."

(OOC: I say bristling because the ship is only 400 metres long. There physically isn't room for any more turrets. Dyelli Beybi will never build anything bigger because they want to be able to put all their ships into dry docks if need be.)
It wasn't well known but Dyelli Beybi also had a space dock. Eamon Collins had visited it once. There was a shuttle that ran from Quisa that serviced the Station and small collection of military personnel permanently Stationed 'up there'.
Back on firm ground, the combined Dyellian armed forces listened to the rumours from New Shiron, and dismissed the chatter. It was concluded a Navy would never become obsolete to 'gravships' or else it would already have become Obsolete in the face of Zeppelins and helicopters.
Plans forged ahead. The fleet was back from Neo Tyr, and it was rumoured a large scale rescue mission was being planned into former Rogue Jiggady.

"Even as debate continues in Regina over the relative merits over increased spending for ships, aircraft and spacecraft, Newport Yards has received permission to offer the SFA1 Sealion mini attack submarine for sale to friendly states. The Sealion, a small sea vehicle ideal for littorial and shallow water operations, is considered ideal for defending coastal waters and for special operations missions. Its small size and the fact that it can be carryed aboard larger ships led to its use as a form of fighter seacraft much like aircraft are used by surface ships. Its only drawback is its limited endurance but its tactical use has not yet shown this to be a problem.

Attempts by Newport Yards to get permission to offer the Queen Samantha class Submarine Carrier to friendly states have failed however.

New Shiron has a lot of surface ships, but isn't really in the power projection fleet business.
