I have been thinking and trying to develop an idea for a RP over the last few weeks, and I have come up with a RP idea. I am not sure if this has been attempted before, but I'm seriously considering starting an epic RP of my Sharina nation. Not epic as in a Stephen King novel or the Star Wars two trilogies, but something much more than that.

In actuality, it will be an epic RP that will go from Stone Age all the way to Space Age and beyond. I got this insipiration from playing a Civilization III and Civilization: Call to Power game. I thought to myself, "What a better way to develop my nation, establish a real history and culture, and see how a fictional nation develops through 7,000+ years of history step-by-step?"

I envision the following... this Epic RP will cover no less than ten Epochs.

Epoch I = Ancient Age
Epoch II = Roman Age
Epoch III = Renassiance Age
Epoch IV = Industrial Age
Epoch V = Atomic Age
Epoch VI = Digital Age
Epoch VII = Nano Age
Epoch VIII = Synthetic Age
Epoch IX = Star Age
Epoch X = Diamond Age

I will operate on the priniciple that my civilization is on Earth, and not on some alien or fantasy planet. For all intents and purposes, the Earth that this RP will take place on is identical to our RL Earth regarding landmasses, locations, initial civilizations, etc. However there will be several differences that will be revealed as the RP progresses. Essentially, this "Sharina's Epic RP" Earth would be 95% similiar to our RL Earth.

All this aside, I would like to hear your guys opinions and feedback on whether I should go ahead with this big RP project. I would also like to hear any tips or suggestions on writing, structure, or ideas to "add" to this RP.

Again, I thought I'd try something new here, with actual progression throughout the ages, instead of jumping immediately into MT or FT like 99% of nations do.

OOC: Sorry to bust the bubble, but without a middle ages you wouldn't have a Renassiance of any kind as we assume that "Rome" never falls, silly Civilization inaccuracies, and I'm being picky, but still, and Roman would be ancient, oh most definately...

But yeah, I could do with a back history other than the first 40 years of my Nation I have actually RPed, sign me up if you please. :)

You know, i've been thinking along similar lines, except it DOES take place on an alien planet. A DOUBLE planet, actually ;) First though, I need to have my Empire do something special before starting such an immense RP.

Don´t take me for a beginner, my old nation deleted for inactivity since i had a computer change and couldn´t access internet. Just had to say that... :p

Not sure how, but I would like to take part and help if ya need it. The idea seems interesting, and I know of a few other nations that did this (sorta, the one I know started out at about 1850 technology, know hes rolling just past Korean War era).

Actually, nope. I am not planning on anything like that or "nanite" crap. What I was going for is nano-scale engineering, such as nano-sized computer chips or nano-sized wiring smaller than individual human hair. It would be similiar to "Tranisitor Age" in computers where vaccum tubes were phased out to be replaced by transitiors and smaller computer chips.

I really am not planning on using nanites at all in my civilization, so do not worry about that, GMC. The only exception (if they may happen at all) would be using small machines to construct these nano-wires or nano-computer chips. Might use artificial machines to cleanse cancer cells and medical issues, but there will be no "transform lead into gold" nanite crap.



In response to Midlonia....

I am not going to play as Rome in this RP, but everything will be revealed as this RP plays out. Without spoiling too much, European and Asian civilizations will progress as they have normally up to a certain point, as my Sharina civilization will *NOT* be located in Europe or Asia.

When I am speaking of Epoch II, or Roman Age, is when my civilization would engage in similiar development as Romans / Greeks during the Hellenstic period. Build many temples, mounments, etc. and start philosophy like Socrates and Plato. Build empire-wide infrastructure like aqueducts, trade roads, colisseums, etc. Start writing / developing mythology like Greek Gods, Oddyessus Epic, etc.

All of those will have a Sharina spin on them. There won't be "Zeus" god per-se in my civilization, but there will be an "Zeus" analog. The actual mythology, buildings, "wonders of world", etc. will be different from the ones built by Egypt, Romans, Greeks, etc. but the basic concept and premise will remain.

Romans aren't in "Ancient Times". What "Ancient Times" is... it is the era of Pharaohs and pyramids in Egypt, first city-states like Babylon, Sumer, and Ur. First sailing vessels. First trade, by Phoenicians. The time of Moses in the Bible. This type of era.

The Romans and Greeks are in "Classical Times" or "Hellenstic Era" where philosophy, science, etc. begin appearing for the first time. First democracy / republics. First practical military applications such as the Roman Legion. First vestiges of civilization-wide or nation-wide massive public works like aqueducts, colisseums, roads, walls, etc.

Then the period after the Roman Empire collapsed is the Dark Ages / Middle Ages where the Church reigned supreme and suppressed most science, believing it to be the work of demons and such. Technology and infrastructure progress grinded to a standstill, thanks to the Christian Church.

However, another minor spoiler for my RP... Sharina won't have the Christianity religion, hence no "Middle Ages" or "Dark Ages". Sharina will go right from Roman / Hellenstic times to Renassiance Age.
