The mansion, in which the Nocturne Academy of Dark Arts was based, was set in a thousand acres of land far from the hustle and bustle of the Draconian cities. The surrounding countryside and woodlands also helped keep it out of the eyes of the Draconian authorities, especially from they prying eyes of Lord Azazel. What's more was that it meant there was plenty of room, inside and out, for the students to practice their magic.

The headmaster of the academy was Professor Elend Bräck, he was stood on the steps outside the front door, watching as the new and returning students arrived. First they would settle in, then lessons would begin. Stood at the bottom of the steps in front of him was a young blonde haired girl, at thirteen, she was a second year student. There would be others older then her who would only be first years. It didn’t matter what age you were, only that a student had to be between twelve and eighteen to enter as a first year. The girl, Amara Blackheart and her twin brother Aaron were already well on their way to becoming necromancers just like their father was.

She turned around to look at the headmaster, her eyes were all black as she stared at him. Her brothers eyes were just the same, along with having blond hair, both were like their father. Last year, most of the new students were creeped out by their eyes, no doubt the same would happen again with this years new arrivals. Professor Bräck thought to himself for a moment.

“Waiting for your brother, young Amara?” he asked.

Her eyes narrowed and she nodded. A few other students passed them and headed up through the large oak doors and into the foyer. A bright flash of red light erupted in front of them and a blond haired, blacked eyed boy appeared in front of them, this was Aaron Blackheart. Already in his first year at the academy he had mastered teleportation, his sister however, hadn’t. She in fact didn’t like the idea of teleportation.

“Ready for your second year young Aaron?” Professor Bräck asked.

“Yes Professor Bräck,” the young necromancer nodded. “I am looking forward to resuming my studies.”

“An eager a student as ever,” the professor nodded.

Aaron smirked at him before heading inside, his sister followed. She was less interested in learning then her brother was. Maybe it was as a result or maybe a reason for their father to favour Aaron over his sister. He certainly appeared to be brighter then her. Then again in traditional Draconian families, the boys were always held in higher regard then the girls anyway, but the Blackheart family were far from a traditional Draconian family.

Professor Bräck looked over his shoulder as the twins disappeared inside. He wondered if any of the new students would be as bright and as eager as Aaron Blackheart was. Somehow he doubted it as no one seemed to live up to their name as well as he did. Still, he did wonder as to how the new crop of students would turn out. He hoped for a lot of bright students but he also knew to expect the occasional dud. They never lasted long however. He turned his attention back to the front of the mansion. There the students continued to arrive. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that the lanky, black-haired form of Diego Mejía, Aaron’s chief rival, had been watching them. The headmaster wondered how much trouble the pair of them would cause this year.

Haedrian walked very slowly up the school's steps. He felt around with his feet before planting them and slowly walking up the steps. He could hear people wispering around him, making snide remarks concerning his blindness. He didnt care. After living with it for years, it didnt matter to him what other people thought about him.

He continued up the stairs until they ended and then continued foward, hoping to find the door as no one seemed inclined to help him. Suddenly, he ran into a cold, stone wall. He felt along it until he found the doorway and proceded through it, into the school that could possibly change his life from an unnoticed one, to one that people would not dare to forget. He hoped he could finally be respected as a person, and not regarded as a cripple.

There was a small disruption in the flow of students in the hall, as they had to divert their courses slightly to avoid something. Aecheron stood in the middle of the disruption, his pack hanging off his back and an expression of befuddlement on his face. He had reached the Academy safely, but now he had no idea of where he was. He stood completely still, save for the occasional movement of his head as he tried to work out which way he was supposed to go. He apologised as he nearly tripped a passer-by, but his enquiries as to which way he was supposed to go went nowhere.

The problem, thought Aecheron, was that this place was too big. If the size of the building was awe-inspiring, then the grounds were just showing off. What on earth was the designer compensating for? After growing up in a tiny village, he was ill-prepared for anything larger than the hydroponics garden where he had learnt how to release his power. That was where this course of events had started. Had he not met the botanist-mage, he would not be standing here. He made up his mind and walked along the corridor to the right, hoping that he could find one of the teachers.

Haedrian was slowly walking through the entrance hall (he hoped) and suddenly ran into something standing in his way. He felt it and it was a very large pack on a boys back.

"Oh, im sorry," stammered Haedrian, "I didnt know you were there. I cant really see you," he said with a slight laugh. "Umm, could you possibly show me too where we need to be?"

Aecheron battled upstream through the flow of students, occasionally having to resort to his elbows to get anywhere. He stopped for a second to get his bearings, then tried to move forwards again. It took a few seconds before the boy in front of him gave way, but it was worth it. Somehow, the corridor was less packed now. Over the heads of the students in front of him, he saw someone who could only be one of the teachers (ooc: Professor Brack). He seemed to be talking to someone else, although Aecheron couldn't see them. He came close to the older man, but decided to remain silent until he had finished with his current conversation.

The stoned were barely moved under the new teacher's padded shoes, his movements nearly silent and always graceful. It seemed to be that this man was walking across a sea, slowly across the ripples of small stones which populated the path up to the school. The newly appointed teacher of transmutation and manipulation looked with a musing eye at the finely trimmed lawns which surrounded the vast building.

He reached for his small small wpocketwatch, which was snugly kept within his belt, the watch seeming to look out the world with a sort of elegent studious charm. The pocketwatch was made of a strange black green metal, the chain which hanged from the belt reflecting the light of this fine day. With a practiced flick of the wrist which seemed like a magician's gesture over a card, he unsealed the watch's shell to view the passage of time. He was slightly late, as he thought.

Clasping the pocketwatch back to it's place on his belt, specially made to hold various personal affects, the new teacher gripped his heavy bags tighter. The leather suitcases, looking like they were populated by many heavy, pointed objects seemed to give the man no real strain, despite the gentleman's apparent lack of muscle beneath that fine jacket he wore. Gentleman was the best word to describe him, he seemed refined from his movements, appearance, and when he eventually would speak, his words.

He wore a finely made and maintained green jacket, which seemed remarkably like some form of dark vegetation. It was a mottled dark green, with an overall theme of shade it seemed. It seemed fashioned for him, as did all of his clothes. His trousers, seeming to be made of a durable leather, was also the smae colour green. Upon his feet were soft brown shoes, which seemed inappropriate for anything other than luxurious living. His hands were kept within white soft cloth, his gloves being wrapped around his long, almost nosferatu fingers. The gloves were clasped onto his hands with two golden, ornate buttons.

Approaching the enterance, he hoped that he could meet with professor Bräck on his arrival. He needed to know the way around the place, the know what to expect. After all, this was his first post in teaching. At least, to a large class. More accustomed to teaching studants individually, this was just the next logical step in his career.

Leonado Degraice was not used to vast numbers of people in one place...he hoped that he would adapt quickly...

Felix stepped from the shuttle (http://www.traipse.com/more_ships/ship5.jpg), security briefcase in hand. His black designer suit and tie were blown askew from the strong gales erupting from behind him. Before him was the Academy (http://www.castlexplorer.co.uk/england/berrypomeroy/img/berrypom7t.jpg). (OOC: Thats just what I imagined..similar at all to your thoughts?). Walking slowly towards the front gate he threw his Austrian cigarette to the ground and crushed it purposefully. He looked mid-twenties, as a successful stock broker. Mid teens and an international thief, was more like it.

He wore a small gold cross, mainly to keep his parents satisfied, but, truthfully, he did have a certain fondness of gold, and one could probably bet safely that had something to do with it.

The dusty path he walked snaked up to a large, rustic hold. To a tourist or passerby, if one even came out this far, it would appear to be some eccentrics home, or possibly even abandoned. Felix Tarquinni knew better though. How could he not, after hearing of the famed place his entire life?

He didn't mind his parents obsession over his pre-academy studies, they really only improved his work, or gave him new ideas and possibilities. This would be very profitable.

Striding into the building with a ease of manner that was accustomed to one's one home, Leonado wiped his soft shoes upon the rough surface of the mat, removing the few stones which still clung to the matieral. Looking around himself, Leonado could not see any teacher in which to ask for directions. And seeing as he was completely new to the school, he did expect someone to greet him. All he found around him was noise and confusion, but he did not let it fluster him.

The cultured teacher moved his long gloved fingers around the strained straps of his two groaning bags, and decided to ask the next person who would arrive at the front door. Turning around on his heel, he looked to the long gravel pathway which held the odd oncoming studant, both new and old. He was careful not to allow his bags to gain too much momentum, as the weight these bags carried could knock someone over. Not to mention doing some considerable damage to the personal belongings within it. He would be living within the acadamy, and he could not live without the items within the bags.

A young man was walking up the driveway, who had recently emerged from a strange sleek shuttle. This studant was the closest to him, and as he walked towards the entrance, he was greeted by Leonado with well pronounced words.

"Excuse me." The well dressed teacher began to address the studant, his pale blonde hair which led straight down to his neck swaying slightly in this gentle breeze. "Are you new to this acadamy?", he continued, decending the bags to the ground with the utmost care. They softly reached the ground, and the gentleman's hands wrapped around one another. The sound of this man's voice was calm, sophisticated, and his accent seemed slightly french.

It had been a long journey via foot and the occassional boat, but Alice had finally made it to this so called academy of the dark arts. Grey eyes looked upon the towering structure with appreciation. Alice always liked old buildings, especially medieval castles and other ominous structures. Something about the nature of such things had always been enticing to her, ever since she was a young girl.

Putting that aside, she slowly dragged herself towards the front stairs, trying to take little note of the people around her. Sometimes, when her power was roaming around at its own will, Alice would not see people but merely souls. The true reflection of a person and more often than not, she found it to be disgusting.

Alice was only here to learn about necromancy and other particular skills. If she found this place to be a joke and of no use to her, she would pack up and leave, resuming her travels around the world. If it was useful, perhaps she would hang around, if she could put up with the people.

Moving up the stairs and into the initial corridor, Alice smiled as people seemed to let her pass. She had always had that effect. There was a certain feeling about Alice, one of intimidating menace and unpleasantness that always made people get out of her way. She had never thought about it deeply and merely accepted it happened and could be quite useful.

As she ploughed through the halls, Alice turned her head slightly as she noticed a particularly odd soul, something very unnatural. As she turned back once again, Alice found it too late to stop herself from bumping into an older man, obviously a teacher as he led another student into a room...

"You'll find people around here, can be helpful," Professor Bräck told him. He looked down at the student. "You are never alone here."

He stopped himself just as another student bumped into him. He smiled at the young student.

"You're eyes are wondering around at the sights of the mansion I see," he said. Dark eyes stared at her. "I trust you to be more careful in future young ma'am."

"Well, I have never been close to other people...I dont think that any amount of helpfulness can change that." He continued to follow the teacher until he arrived at his room. "Thank you for taking me here, I'm sure I can manage from here," he mumbled. He proceded to find his bed, lay his small bag of possesions next to it, and fell asleep.

Alice returned Professor Bräck's gaze with a dull stare of her own. He was evidently one of the teachers here, by his nature perhaps even the headmaster. Alice wasn't embarrassed or overwhelmed, merely curious. After watching the man for some point, she finally spoke in a quiet but forceful tone.

"Indeed I shall."

Without waiting for a response, Alice's robes swished through the air as she hurried off back into the crowd. Dodging and weaving through the masses, Alice navigated the hallways until she finally found her room, 217.

Opening the large door and making her way inside, Alice noticed the basic but comfortable furnishings provided in her room. It would be warm and relaxing, just the way she liked it. Alice was always very practical, she owned very little save for the clothes on her back and a small backpack of items. Everything else was provided here.

Sitting upon her bed, Alice fell into a light trance as she strengthened the restraint upon her power. She had yet been able to control it fully by pure will and had to use spells to keep it in place...

Abruptly, black and crimson flames flared in a clear section of the courtyard, outlining a portal in the air. As soon as it was complete, a boy with light brown hair emerged. He wore dark brown pants, a loose fitting green shirt, and a long blue-gray coat, fitting the current fashions in the Djeri Empire. A voice grated from the other side of the portal: "Study hard, Peterson. You know how much rests on your progress here..." Then the flames vanished, and the boy, looking a bit nervous, joined the crowd.

Leonado turned around almost like a dance movement, to address the new, and highly welcomed voice of the headmaster. He extended his hand in swift greeting, his soft gloves meeting the headmaster's own rather firmly. To those watching Leonado's facial expression, something changed within that polite smile, that complexion of calm and control darting to something more strained. Pain perhaps? Or just a sensation of awkwardness, one of being unsettled by something. One could only ponder, if one even detected it flicker upon his pale complexion.

"I presume you are Professor....Professor Bräck? My apologies, I am not too skilled with remembering names. But I do remember faces rather well." He began, his soft and almost weak voice keeping that after touch of elegance. The professor confirmed Leonado's correct recollection of name with a small nod and a polite half smile.

Leonado's hand slipped from the headmaster's grip, and settled to the bags once more, recreating the tension within the straps again. He lifted them without audible complaint, or apparent strain, once again seeming to defy his physical limitations. With a swift movement of his head did he look at the student he was previously addressing and said a single word "Nevermind". He gave the studant a small smile of his own, almost apologetic.

He addressed the professor for the second time, his full attention now available, those heavy bags now the under full control of his slender fingers. "I do hope that this year shall be a successful and enjoyable one. I have never taught within such a school with so many pupils, it certainly shall be a change from the small town that I came from. I only taught a few gifted individuals there...I am eager to see what potential I can unlock here. Where might I be teaching?", he inquired, turning so to suggest that the professor take the lead in front, so that he may follow.

A cold wind blew past them and Professor Bräck looked to his left. He knew that was likely to be one of the other teachers then an act of nature.

"I think you will enjoy teaching here," he smiled. "The transmutation and manipulation classrooms are set around to the back of the mansion."

As Haedrian slept, he dreamed. Dreaming was almost a haven for him. He could see in dreams, and was able to remember what color was.
This dream however, was far from a safe haven. He was walking along in darkness, although he could hear people talking all around him. Suddenly, there were screams and he could feel people running into him, knocking him down. He scrambled to his feet and tried to hold against the crowd, but was shoved back down again. He lay there for several minutes until there were no more voices. All except one. It was a very low, gravely, gutteral voice.
"Hello Haedrian," it said. "How are you? Liking the new school so far? You had better start liking it. It's good to be in a place that you like, when you die."
He jerked awake, shaking. He could still here the voice's last words echoing in his mind. He felt his way to the door, and crawled down some stairs to the main hall. He heard two people come walking inside, discussing things in open voices. He recognized Prof. Brack's voice, but he didnt know the other. He hurried towards their voices and said, "Excuse me, Prof. Brack. I was wondering if I could talk to you in private?"

Anarkis flew down to just beside the entrance gate in his new battlesuit (http://cafe.berkeley.edu/~andy/graphics/portfolio/characters/battlesuit.jpg) which his "dad" gave him as a departing gift.

H was sure that he was going to like it here, where he could finally get help to practise his magic because his "dad" wasn't able to perform magic not even the easiest ones as he was unable to unlock his powers. He could see many students including loads of other foreign people "I better find someone to show me around got to drop of ALL of my stuff, no use carrying like 5 bags around. Then i can start meeting new people but i still think its wierd no technology on either side for ages! Awoken from her trance, Alice relaxed upon her bed, waiting for something to happen. She wasn't exactly an outgoing kind of person when it came to social interactions and on many occassions prefered to be left to her own devices. She noted there was another bed opposite hers, indicating the possibility of her having a roommate.

Sighing in disgust, Alice rolled onto her back and began summoning wisps into the room, small spirits of things such as trees, stones and other natural things. Her summoning talents were quite extensive when it came to spirits, most of which had been picked up from her father's books. Unfortunately she had yet to master summoning full bodies, yet only time was needed.

And so Alice amused herself, directing the purple balls of spiritual energy that were wisps around her room.

Leonado opened the door of his new classroom, pleased that he had been directed so easily to it. He felt that he could quite easily find the place again, it was mostly all down on corridor, then up a set of stairs. The school was well signposted, and his room was in the far East wing of the school, at the end of a long narrow corridor, the corridor seeming wider than it was due to the large windows which let the view of the well kept grass be seen.

"That is perfect professor, thank you for guiding me here." Leonado said politely, and swung the door open, and swiftly closed it again nearly without a sound, the finely made oak door only giving a click to signify that it was fully closed.

Leonado took a few, timid steps into the silent room. It seemed to hold a heavy amount of reverence to it, like this was a church and one should watch their actions, in order to respect the spirit of the place. For this reason, Leonado set his bags down carefully and quietly upon the far long wooden desks which was used for demonstrations, and equipment.

The classroom had obviously been arranged hastily, the desks being slightly out of line, the plants being rushed into their positions, the paintings placed upon the walls with great speed. The room was rather large, and at the end of it, was a small raised floor, in which demonstrations and seminars could take place. Within the room, there were three, windows, the two windows being left and right of the central one being small and spherical, going outwards like a decadent ship's porthole would. The metal frame was a polished gold, as was the central one. The central one was a large gaping rectangle, which seemed to flood the room with light, and make the teaching area have a far more enjoyable atmosphere.

One of the bags were opened, and slowly emptied of their contents in a loving manner. Leonado mused over what he would do with the room, for he intended to change the room to his own suiting. The items were varied and wondrous, collections of strange devices, small bottles containing various liquids or dried animals, small delicate plants kept within miniscule test tubes which were held within a rack of bronze and silver. A cane with lavish designs and a multitude of purposes, a number of manuals of various subjects, both large and small in size. And, a collection of small, blank journals, bound within fine leather.

Drawing out three jewels from a smaller padded wallet from within his jacket, he held them in his hand, observing the fine shades of purples which were within it. He mused over what he could do with these rather potent magical items, like a painter looking at his pallet of colours, considering what wild combinations he could muster to achieve his imaginations' desires. The jewels gave a slight song as he played with them in his gloved hands for a few moments...considering...musing.

"One must have music before such an act of creation takes place..." Leonado said in a hushed tone, placing down the jewels into the padded wallet once more, until he needed them.

Now opening the second bag, the first being completely emptied onto the desk in a carefully arranged and practiced manner, and produced easily the device he was looking for. It was held in the finest packaging, being held within two protective leather bags, both padded. This item was the most valuable to him. Well, almost. The most valuable possession to his was around his neck in the form of a locket.

Unveiling the possession which had been so carefully been taken care of, he set it upon a small desk in the far right of the room. The item was a strange sort of gramophone, the large horn for producing the sound being made of a strange green material, and the where the record would go, there was just a flat, shining material of Florissant blue.

Setting up the device with great pleasure, he quickly made the instrument play something of Beethoven. Within that strange blue record was a massive collection of recorded music. It was his own personal invention, and the sound was amplified to make it sound as if the sound was being performed right in front of him. He touched certain areas upon the blue record, seemingly at random, but he knew what he was doing. He accessed Beethoven's 9th symphony to fill the air.

It took a few seconds, and the record began to spin.

Reaching for the three jewels once more, he held them in between the fingers of his right gloved hand...and when the powerful music began to play, like an artist, he began to rearrange the room to his desire, to set about the items upon his desk around the room, the transmute the desks to the material of his wants, to make things grow and flow in a movement of will and magic. The jewels were the power to this manipulation, the three jewels would be spent in the process, and Leonado was willing to pay that cost.

He was about to make the room to his suiting before his new students for transmutation and manipulation arrived. When they would arrive, everything would be in order, everything would be perfect.

Aecheron lay back on the bed, his eyes half closed and his lips curled into a small smile. His coat lay in a heap on the floor where he had left it, and his rucksack was propped up against the wall. It had been opened, and assorted objects were protruding from the top. He had eventually found his room, and had spent the last twenty minutes doing a little minor magic.

While exploring his new room, he had found a thin layer of dust under the bed, and amused himself by levitating the grey particles and forming them into shapes. His name was spelled out in the air, but it dissolved, rippling like water. Swirling rapidly, it formed itself into an arrow, which flew across teh room and appeared to embed itself in the wall.

Suddenly feeling bored, he dispersed the dust across the room and swung his feet onto the floor. The bed next to his was as yet unoccupied, the intended recipient apparently either late or lost. Aecheron hoped that it was someone he could get along with. Someone who was fun...

In a flash of inspiration, he stood up and walked out of the door. He drew the dust back to him and used it to mark the door with his initials, then set out into the now almost deserted corridor. He hoped to have explored the entire Academy by the end of the school year, but right now he would settle for the immediate area.

Sliding of his bed onto the floor, he walked to the door, raised his hand up to his heads hight, and grasped the doorknob. He walked down the stairs and finally arrived in the entrance hall. He turned to a random direction, and walked foward. He found the stone wall, and proceded to follow the corridor next to it. After about 5 minutes of walking he suddenly ran into someone.

Mierin had her usual air of haughty confidence, standing tall and elegant in a black sleeveless dress with a smirk on her face. Arpad standing next to her was a lesson in contrast, looking nervously around, in jeans and a well-worn, but not dingy, T-shirt bearing the logo of the band Canis Lupus on it. He was two inches taller than her, but appeared only a tad taller because he always slouched around Mierin. It was known that their relationship was more than friendship, yet somehow also less. Arpad was clearly intimidated by her, though.

It had taken them a long time to get to the academy, and it was surprising that they were no later than they were.

"Come on," Mierin said to Arpad, tugging him along behind her as she climbed the stairs. As they walked into the building, which both of them approved of for its architectural style, they took off their sunglasses and looked around at their fellow students. "I wonder if the rooms are singles or doubles, and if they're co-ed. Seems like a single room would be kind of lonely," Mierin said idly.

Aecheron staggered a little, but managed to keep both his footing and his dignity. He glanced around, trying to discover what had hit him.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you."

He looked in the direction of the voice and saw another student there. He smiled, glad to have someone to talk to, even if their meeting was a little unconventional.

"Thats alright, no damage done."

He smiled, and it reached his eyes. He flicked his hair out of his face before going on.

"I'm Aecheron. Who are you?"

The hand moved fairly accurately towards Aecheron, but it was still noticeably off-target. He suddenly realised that Haedrian was blind, noticing for the first time that his eyes did not move. He was a little shocked- on his planet blindness was known about, but it was curable in most cases and when it wasn't the eyes could be replaced with machines. He grasped Haedrian's hand firmly and shook it.

"I was just doing a little reconnaissance of this place. I want to get to know it now so that I don't get lost too often when lessons start. Are you new here as well?"

Aaron Blackheart was always glad to have a single room, it was a matter of preference since some students preferred shared rooms. His black eyes looked around the room, there was a bed, a desk and chair, a wardrobe, but no on suite bathroom. They all had to share the bathrooms, which of course led to many a fight. A single room however, at least allowed Aaron time alone away from others so that he could study alone, free from distractions and concentrate on improving his skills. Already he had packed his stuff away and was ready for the first lesson. Those however weren’t due to start until the next day. Today was just for the students to arrive and settle in. Aaron decided to go outside for a stroll and see what the new students were like.

"Yes, this is my first year."
Haedrian wondered if he had stuck his hand out in the right direction. However, Aecheron had shook it, so he must have been close at least.
"I think I will join you in your recon," said Haedrian with a slight smile.
He wondered why he was not attempted to avoid this person...perhaps his body was simply tired of being alone.

As they were walking through the halls, well, more like Mierin dragging Arpad through the halls, the two happened to come upon Haedrian and Aecheron.

Mierin, naturally the one to speak first, went up to them. "Excuse me, good sirs." She had quite a strong accent, and though her voice was melodius and she wasn't speaking harshly, there was a lot of hiss in it. "Would you happen to know who we should speak to about getting our rooms?"

Arpad shuffled up behind her, silent.

Aecheron jumped in surprise at Professor Brack's voice. He turned around, slightly embarrassed. The wry smile in the man's eyes could have meant that he had noticed Aecheron checking out Mierin. Then he remembered what the professor had heard. He had only half-heard it due to distractions, but Haedrian speaking his name had probably attracted his attention.

Aecheron had seen the Professor already, although not up close. He explained about the others wanting to see someone, and then looked closely. The man seemed like a good person. He had a nice smile, and his eyes shone with intelligence. He could also sense the power radiating from him. To Aecheron's finely-tuned senses it was like a signal flare. Possibly even those without the ability would feel something, although they wouldn't know what.

He inclined his head in deference to the teacher, respecting both his seniority and his apparent magical abilities. His grandparents had brought him up to be respectful, and he was trying to take their advice. Of course, he wasn't above an occasional misbehaviour... This place was going to be fun.

Mierin faced the Professor. "Yes, Arpad Kereshtur," she gave her countryman a slap on the shoulder that looked a tad too hard from the way he reacted, "and I, Mierin Darvul, were just wondering about moving into our rooms." Arpad nodded in agreement. "And I was also wondering if they're single rooms or doubles and such." Mierin gave Aecheron a quick smile. OOC: Sorry, NS ate my last post, then I got called out for a meeting, just geting back to a comp.
_

The young girl known as Gabriella walking across the open lawn in front of the academy did her best to keep her head down, and didn't make any blatent attempts at eye contact with any of the other students. It wasn't that she felt unattractive, she knew she was up there with some of the better looking girls in South Vista, but she just didn't feel comfortable. She honestly had no idea why Master Ashura and Lord Garrick had shown up at her door, or why her parents so readily agreed to send her to this school, but it wasn't her place to question. Only to obey. That was how things were done in South Vista.

Her short cut, inky black hair was worn down, hangin just above her neck, but no one would have known that, as the hood to her dark purple cloak was worn up. It wasn't a master's cloak, no, she wasn't anywhere near as skilled as a Master. Instead, it was a simple affair, made by herself. She carried her books in her hand, holding them close to her medium sized chest, and a duffle like bag was tossed over her shoulder, holding what few clothes she had packed. Underneath the cloak she wore a black loose fitting shirt, and a pair of matching purple pants, with a pair of brown boots as footware.

She had an aura about her, the kind that pretty much said that she wanted to be left alone unless she made the first move. She continued to keep her eyes down, not trying to make any enemies on the first day. Gabriella was only trying to get by. She noticed a man who looked like he may have been a headmaster of sorts, and approached him quietly.

"I was wondeirng, sir, if you could point me in the direction of registration, or maybe somewhere where as a new student I should go," she finished. "I'm sorry if I'm bothering you," she continued, its jsut you looked like someone who would know whats going on."

Professor Bräck nodded. "As soon as you arrived, you were registered," he explained and smiled. "No, you are not bothering me, I am headmaster after all." His dark eyes seemed to brighten. "Best thing for a new student to do would probably be to find your room." He began to walk off. "I can show you if you wish, do you mind sharing or would you prefer your own room?"

Gabrielle nodded. She was suprised to find that she was given a choice. Most schools that she had attended were fairly straight forward on the whole 'you do what we say regardless' aspect. She was glad she didn't need to go through any major work for registration. The idea boucned through her head for a moment, and she decided it would be best to share a room. She was an only child, and it would be good for her to get used to living with someone else. "I'll share a room," she replied.

"So, are you from here, or someplace else?" She figured that since she'd be living with this person, she at least should get to know the basics about her. She noted the use of "Freyja" instead of the usual "god." Perhaps religion is similar where she comes from..

Aecheron had successfully checked out the area with Haedrian, and was now on his way back to his room. They had made friendly conversation, small talk really, and then bid goodbye to each other at the end of the corridor. He found his room easily: the dust had not yet detached. He knocked it off with a flick of his hand, and walked in. The other bed was still unclaimed. He had hoped for a room-mate, but so far no luck. Maybe one would arrive earlier.

He took a running jump onto his bed, twisting in mid-air and landing on his back with a crash. Crossing his legs over, he put his hands behind his head and stared up at the ceiling. He didn't feel like using any magic at the moment, so he rolled off the bed and used the opportunity to unpack his bag. He put his clothes in the dresser, surprisingly neatly for him. Then he removed the items that he had left at the bottom of his bag.

His CD player came out first, followed by a pile of CDs, mostly metal. A few of his favourite books came out next, to be stacked on his bedside table. A bag containing his toothbrush etc. was dumped unceremoniously on his pillow. It was then that he removed his minature fermenting unit. These were quite possibly banned in the school, but he had decided to hide it well. He wrapped it up with a t-shirt, remembering that dust could damage it, and then tucked it away behind the heater. It was well hidden enough to survive a cursory examination, but any thorough search would discover it. He resolved to find a loose floorboard the next day, as he was too tired now.

Taking off his battered trainers, he sat down on the edge of his bed. He then tossed his t-shirt and trousers into a heap on the floor, and slipped under the covers. He was asleep within a few minutes, and dreaming of his new home.

“Well, well, well,” came an annoying voice. “Look who it is, Aaron Blackfart.”

There were a few sniggers as Aaron scowled and turned around. His black eyes glared at the person who had made the comment. “Piss off Diego,” he replied.

“Make me,” Diego replied. “By the way, you’re out numbered.”

Aaron smirked, “Not for long…” he said and knelt down, slamming his palm into the ground. “Ego accio clamo cresco evoco pugno meus veneratio.”

Black lines appeared from his hand and moved outwards behind him. There were explosions of black light and ten skeleton warriors rose from the ground. Each was armed with a claymore and a shield. Fires burned in their empty eye sockets. A murmur spread through Diego’s friends. It was Diego’s turn to scowl.

"Of course I know him. I know him very well in fact." Mierin's accent was far stronger than Arpad's, but upon close examination, they sounded similar. "Better than most, I would say." She just slightly lifted one eybrow, but it went down almost fast enough to pass it off as just a twitch. "We came over here together and have been acquainted since childhood, and friends for a number of years."

Putting the flask away, Alice wiped the slight drop of blood from her mouth and grinned at the younger girl, displaying her razor sharp fangs. She wasn't really sure what the girl's reaction would be, but if it intimidated her into leaving Alice alone then it was worth a try.

"Good. You don't bother me and I won't drain you during the night. I'm alive by the way..."

The older girl lay down upon her bed, black hair sprawling out all over the bed as she relaxed, getting significantly bored now.

Gabriella gave her an odd eye, and pretty much went back to unpacking. She finished emptying her bag into the drawers of a bedside dresser, and pushed her bag under her bed. She pulled of the purple cloak, and tossed it on her bed. She stretched out, and popped her knuckles and neck. "I guess I'll go take a look around," she said, walking out the door.

She wandered, a bit less than aimlessly, around the large school, past class rooms and other students waiting for classes to start. She walked past the cafeteria, and a courtyard of sorts. She followed signs that lead her to a library, where she began to move up and down the rows, looking at the large volumes of books.

Zero was a good climber. Having scouted the area below him, making sure that no members of staff or certain enemies saw him, he used the ivy to climb up a floor and into his room. The room he shared with Arpad. He looked around for him as he climbed in through the window.

“Well, well,” he smirked.

Arpad was at the desk, drawing with a pencil. "Hey," he said, briefly glancing at the window Zero was climbing in through. "Seems odd not to use the door, but I suppose you have a good reason." His CD player was up loud enough to hear it through the headphones, making it a bit of a wonder that Arpad could hear Zero.

He went and sat down on his bed, picking up a book. Silently he began to read it and after a few minutes he looked up from it.

"So you know a Mierin?" he suddenly asked.

"Well she's sharing a room with my girlfriend," he explained, he looked a little concerned. "Well... theres something strange about her, her aura feels a little wierd." I can never be sure of exactly what her motives are about anything, we're... friends... and all, in a couple ways she's the kind of moroii that gives vampires a bad name." Not wanting to make his friend sound too bad, he added "only in a couple though." He then lowered his voice. "She likes... 'hunting,' like, you know. She's not as bad about it as Lujza Batory was and Katarin Sorvik used to be, but she still does it, all the same."

"Moroii?" Zero asked with a gulp. Now he was worried, if he knew her inside out and was frightened by her then she really couldn't be good. He stayed silent as he waited for a reply from Arpad. Wait a minute, he suddenly found himself thinking, she's a vampire? The vampires that Zero knew about couldn't go out in sunlight, yet Mierin had gone near the window and was absolutely fine. These two new students were beginning to intregue him.

Alice didn't like her already. The girl seemed to be one of this quiet, conservative types that always did what was supposedly right and never questioned authority. Sighing in disgust, Alice realised that it could have been much worse and decided she wouldn't bother her roommate.

Sitting herself upon the floor, Alice closed her eyes and crossed her legs as she plunged into another trance, invoking dark runes to form about the air around her. Alice couldn't really say she knew exactly what she was doing, but she had possessed an uncany ability to physically alter the realm around her, to bring the darkness forth. Whatever she was doing, it was causing the room to rattle violently.

"First of all," Arpad said, calmly, "Mierin's not one to flip out, she gets angry, but doesn't lose her self control. And she brought even more stored blood than I did, so that won't be a concern. She's no dummy either. I'd say it's highly unlikely that she'll drink the blood of her room mate. Unless of course your girlfriend, Raven you said, becomes a willing donor, which is entirely safe. Mierin prefers male donors, though."

"It's a lot more complicated, being turned into a Callisdrunian Moroii, than being turned into your standard Strigoii." He made a somewhat embarrassed face. "Think about what major way that you are different from your girlfriend, Raven."

(OOC I hope no-one minds me having the weather change to overcast, with a light shower. Out of interest, what time is it in the day, and when are lessons going to begin? Again, sorry about delay for post.)

The serpent curled upwards from the rod, the entity flowing into the outside air. The window was open specially for freeing this dragon of smoke, to allow it outside so that it did not explore and make this room it's new home.

Leonado was standing by the window, hanging outwards so his body was outside. A strange jet black cigarette was held loosely within his white gloved hand, the silk material barely having enough grip to hold it. This lazy holding of the cigarette was partly due to fatigue, and partly due to the teacher's thoughts being elsewhere. He stared outwards to the long green stretch of grass, which was being sprayed with a light shower. The clouds above hid the source of light to this place at this hour, casting large clumps of shadow on the healthy blades of grass, providing a changing painting in which Leonado observed with a lethargic interest.

The cigarette in his hand was taken to his pale lips once more, the fume serpent entering his lungs for a few seconds, before curling outwards into the cold air outside. It was an almost artistic movement. The black expensive cigarette having the small strand of shining gold material around the neck, indicating that it was the highly prized of the "Odine" company. Few knew what was inside the cigarette precisely, but it was like no other. It was the only cigarette that Leonado smoked, and he smoked rarely.

After his session of transmutation, he felt he deserved the high quality cigarette. It was as if he had just enjoyed an intense session of love making, his expression being calm and placid, content with the world.

The smoke serpent smouldered, and was tempted outside into the cold outside.

The room had been changed. It was ready and organised for the very first lesson of the year, the lesson which would introduce his first years to the act of transmutation. The second years, he would have to find out what progress they were at, and what they knew. But that was a separate lesson, much later on in the day. He was the first lesson to be in the new year, and he had some promising students he felt, judging by the report at least.

Upon the window ledge, there was the collection of reports, written on an off-colour yellow paper, and with scraps of information dotted around. Some of the notes were written on by Leonado himself, to remind himself of the first impressions of the students. Who he thought might have a lot of potential from the sounds of things, ones that might prove troublesome.

Leonado DeGraice was a good judge of character, but he always knew that his predictions were just that. Predictions.

He flicked the cigarette away with a snap of his long, almost nosferatu fingers. The damp humidity was now clinging to his silk white gloves, which was ushered away by a mental thought from Professor DeGraice. The water droplets floated away into the outside world, along with any trace of the pet dragon which resided in the black rod.

With a grand and slow movement, the now composed and prepared teacher swung the massive window close. The frame shone of newly polished gold; the windows were pure and unscratched. The water seemed to stream down the glass as if it could not find any hold upon the smooth glass, making it seem like a staccato waterfall as the rain danced on it.

Leonado made a few last preparations to his classroom, a few tweaks here and there to his design of the place. He had put a sign upon the door, made of polished silver with the words carved strangely in surface for his first class. It read,

"To all students. If you would kindly line up by the wall, and knock twice upon my door. My appreciation."

The door also held the legend on one of the large and decorous oak panels of the door, "Transmutation and Manipulation" and underneath it, in a smaller, more personalised script,

Taught by Professor Leonado DeGraice

Both legends were engraved through a subtle action of Leonado himself, making it seem as if the signs had been there forever.

And so it went, that Leonado prepared the final details for his new budding students. He was interested as to what would happen. He was pleased with the room, and he was soon to find out if he was going to pleased with the students that he was provided. Tomorrow. It was around five o clock according to Leonado's pocketwatch, and Leonado knew that tomorrow morning he would be the first lesson the new studants would have.

Tomorrow morning, everything would be revealed.

OOC: I'm sorry for being late in posting, the forum was acting like its old self for once.

IC:

Dextrel Quickclaw was nothing short of stunned as he entered the admissions wing of his new school. He'd never seen so many softskins, the Argonian term for anything without scales, in one place at the same time. The air was thick with the smells of anxiety, fear, excitement... He also detected the scent of something familiar. The musty aroma was that of a vampire... By the subtleness of the smell, it was a young one, too.

Dextrel's clawed fingers flexed in anticipation... He would meet his future quarry for the first time. The words of his older brother, Arakesh, echoed within his mind...

'Be mindful of your prey, hatchling... We do the softskinned world a service by eliminating the vampiric pests, but some seem content to live their lives as normally as possible. You will follow the example of the great Whiptail & allow these beings, however vile, to continue to live in peace & protect them from those who seek to impose genocide apon them...'

The Argonian hunters' creed in reguard to vampires was filled with such contradictions, set forth by the greatest hunter of their race, Whiptail Longtail. Arakesh had hunted with Whiptail on a few scattered occasions, and greatly respected the insightfulness & skill of his far older peer. This respect was enough for Dextrel to keep the warnings of his older brother in the back of his mind at all times.

The clawed fingers relaxed as he exhaled, using a calming technique his instructors in the clan's school of honorable combat had taught him, useful for steadying one's nerves before a battle or some other taxing feat. Dextrel was abnormal among his new classmates. The roughly six-foot-tall lizard-man, complete with tail, was clad in a combination of rubbery Netch-leather armor & a rough homespun tunic & pants. The clothing was a lighter brown hue than the cuirass that protected his muscular chest. A dirty gray scarf hung down the back, wrapped loosely around his red-crested throat. The angular features of his snout & face, combined with the pair of fin-ears that seemed to sprout from the sides of his head, gave him a uniquely aquatic look.

Radiating confidence tainted slightly with apprehension, Dextrel approached the admissions desk...

"I am Dextrel Quickclaw, and have come to aquire my class roster..."

His dialect was overly rich, made somewhat more difficult to understand through his thick Argonian accent & gravelly voice. He reguarded the admissions person with yellowish, slit-pupil eyes from behind the reptillian snout that made up most of his face & upper jaw...

"Don't mind her, she's a mute," came a voice from behind the Argonian student. Turning around his eyes would have met the dark eyes of the headmaster.

Alice gasped in surprise as she opened her eyes, the room around her swirling with dark energies. The very walls were plastered with tortured souls that screamed for a release from their eternal torment. Noticing a warm liquid upon her face, Alice wiped a pale hand across it to discover the crimson pigment. Puzzled as to where blood would have come from, Alice didn't have to wait long as it plunged forth from the ceiling, landing right between her eyes.

Unphased by the blood, Alice decided it was time to end this. She'd never called this much of the Underworld into their realm of existence and wasn't confident about her abilities to control or restrain it. Calming herself, Alice began the process of weakening the link between the Underworld and her own. Closing her eyes, she severed the energies and relaxed once again. Falling backwards, the young necromancer was startled awake when another drop of blood soiled her face.

Slowly opening her eyes once again, Alice gasped at the sight before her. Several of the tortured souls had escaped from the wall and now surrounded her. Cursing in several ancient tongues, Alice called every defensive spell she knew to mind as the free spirits charged.

The attention of those outside was attracted when piercing screams erupted from the room and strange lights could be seen under the door. Energies crackled and beings of another world slammed against the door, attempting to escape into the school.

Alice could hear the sounds of people outside, yet she was far too worried about the free spirits attacking her form, attempting to possess her physical form. Dark energies swirled around her as she fended them off, now backed against a bloodied wall.

Contorted faces of agony and rage moaned at Alice, battering against her errected shield in the hope to wear her down. They could not pass through the energies, yet they knew Alice would eventually tire and give way.

The banging from outside gained the attention of several wraiths. Suddenly silence reigned and the lights dimmed into darkness. Those outside would believe it was all over. Several seconds passed in peace, making the eruption of the door from its hinges all the more surprising. Transparent forms rocketed forward, emerging into the hallway, unleashing bone chiiling wails of despair.

Alice could be seen in the corner, blood and sweat across her face as she fought off several more wraiths.

Alice sighed in relief as the Headmaster burst through the doorway, immediately calling his own powers forth in an attempt to restrain the wraiths. Already several of the transparent beings had been imprisoned by the master necromancer and several others had turned to face Bräck, even wraiths from the hallway had returned, realising he was a foe they needed to eliminate.

Wiping the bloodied hair out of her face, Alice rose to her feet and chanted as a simmering orb of shadow formed within her left hand whilst the other maintained a renewed flow of energy into her battered shield. Now able to concentrate on attack, power simmered around the young girl, blowing her hair back as she rushed forward, exiting her room. Halfway down the hall, three wraiths were still attempting to make a run for it. Intent on not allowing her mess to threaten the school, Alice launched the mass of darkness, watching as it passed through one wraith, sucking it into the prison of darkness.

The remaining two wailed in fury and charged at Alice, fuelled by anger and fear. Smiling in welcome, Alice held a hand behind her back as she watched the otherworld creatures race towards her. As they closed, Alice allowed her shield to flicker out of existence, convincing the wraiths they now had an easy target. Finally bearing upon the young vampire, Alice pulled her right arm out again, revealing another black sphere of darkness that she unleashed towards the creatures.

Caught between two seeking prisons, the wraiths could do nothing as the twin spheres slammed into the wraiths and formed one large prison, holding all three creatures. Content with her accomplishment, Alice charged back into her dorm in an attempt to help Bräck with the remaining wraiths.

Professor Bräck let go of the chains Now that the wraiths were chained up, they would be unable to escape. Though the headmaster was a powerful necromancer, it was still up to Alice to send the wraiths back to where they had come. Carefully he turned to take on the remaining wraiths if needed, there he saw Alice had returned.

Alice was quite surprised at this. She had expected the headmaster to get rid of the remaining forces then go into a scolding lecture about sensible use of power and that sort of rubbish. Looking back at the wraiths, Alice nodded. She wasn't quite sure if she could send them back after her attempt, but she could capture them.

With the large sphere still within her grasp, Alice directed it towards the chained beings and quickly absorbed them into the prison of darkness. With them out of the way, it was simple enough for Alice to capture the last three within her sphere and return it to her palm.

With all the wraiths captured, Alice concentrated on the ball and watched as it shrunk within her palm, reducing in size until it matched that of a large marble. At that point it became a solid object with a polished black surface. In all physical aspects it appeared to be a marble. Pocketing the object, Alice returned to the task at hand. Restoring her dorm room.

Closing her eyes, Alice connected herself to the energies that flowed through her room once again. Feeling out the darkness, she began to plunge it back into the underworld. This time it worked and within seconds the shadows and blood was gone, the room left completely spotless. Alice turned back to the headmaster with a puzzled expression.

"That didn't work before. Something was different..."

Quite confused at that last comment, Alice looked back at her room and shuddered. Perhaps it was best that she did not return there for a while. Thinking back upon the headmaster's words, Alice realised they made no sense. She had summoned such beings before easily, that was well within her power. The odd thing was that something had worked against her when she attempted to banish the foul spirits back to the underworld. There was no amplifying involved, there was a seperate entity.

Unable to work out what had opposed her will, Alice decided to ponder the issue outside, away from all the noise and people. As she stepped outside, Alice welcomed the cool breeze of wet air that bombarded her face, helping to relax her nerves after such an incident. The feeling of not having control was the worst part of it all. Being unable to dictate what happened irritated Alice, hence her desire to become a master necromancer.

Moving through the grounds, Alice noticed a gloomy looking graveyard and made her way towards it, hoping there wouldn't be anyone inside to bother her.

(OOC Apologies for the poor post quality here, but I do not have much time. Can we progress to the next day pretty soon?)

Unlike the others within the school, Leonado did not have a sudden pull towards the graveyard. He was quite content within his classroom, and the small private room he could call his own which was directly behind the classroom. The room could be accessed through a sliding of one of the wall panels, revealing the cosy place which the teacher slept in.

But Leonado was not sleeping at this point in time. He was quietly writing within his journal, replaying the day's events within his head and reflecting upon his new position within the school. He sat at a small table beside his simple bed, with a small amount of light being emmited from the dark orange lamps which hung like gargoyles from the walls.

Nothing made a sound or a movement within the room, beside the slow flourishes of Leoando's pen against his diary, one of his close possessions which he took great care of. The cover was made of a strong thick leather, but of the same colour of his suit; a mottled dark green, similar to ivy.

Leonado did enjoy the presance of plants, which might have been the reason why he prefered the colour green over most others. The occasional dark green plant swathed over areas of the room, dimly lit.

He closed the diary, and promptly changed into more comfortable clothes. Pleased with his actions for today, he slipped into his bed and ushered the small orange lamps to fade.

He hoped he would not have any nightmares as he normally did, some guilty recounting of past actions. Such nightmares came often unfortunately...

Haedrian woke up the next morning to a bright and sunny, but slightly chilly, day. He crawled out from under the bush brushing the dirt off of his cloths. He then proceded to feel his way to the main enterance and headed towards the loudest source of noise, presumably, the dining hall.

He walked toward a particulary quite area, and felt around for a bench or chair to sit in. He found one, but as he sat down in it, he missed. The chair, along with him, fell to the floor with a loud crash and a dull thud that was himself. He scrambled around, feeling for the chair, and finding it, righted it and sat squarly down. He reached foward, found a platter, and grabbed some of the contents and put them in front of himself. As he put the first slightly gooey bit into his mouth, he spat it back out. It was raw meat.
He felt around for a hot dish, and found what he believed to be eggs.

A few moments later, he was proved correct in his asumption as he swallowed several bites in under 5 seconds. He hadnt eaten dinner the night before, nor lunch or breakfast. And the eggs were not that bad either.

The sun shone sluggishly through the overhanging jungle of various plants, the faint scent of flora creeping in Leoando's nose. A small cough, an opening of a solitary eye to greet the sunlight.

It was some strange dream, the wood of the walls faded in and out, flowing into oneness, flowing out of being. The sunlight which came from a high window trickled in, the strips of light curled up to the folds in his small bed. The folds became a slow moving ocean now, rippled moving as the being underneath the waves moved out of it.

A small breeze accompanied the sunlight, the movement of the snowstorm of dark green leaves, the cooling of the cultured educator's face. He squinted in response to moving into a slither of light, and slid out of his humble bed.

Within his small room, he got prepared himself for the day. He washed and cleaned himself, shaved and made sure he looked presentable. His appearance was always fine, he made sure of that much.

The ritual of preparation of the day was set about with the partner of music, some classical piece with strings and flutes which Leonado had subconsciously put on. With this music, he placed upon his person his clothes, perfectly fitted to his slender form. Buttons were fastened slowly and methodically. A tie was straightened and perfectly put in place. His shoes clean and without crease or mark.

He left his small room to enter his classroom, which was fully prepared for the day ahead. It was his pride now, his pride that this classroom was his. He walked out of the room slowly, looking at the details which he was proud of.

He headed to the dining hall, with that odd sort of walk which demanded quiet respect. He was contented, calm and almost in a sense of silent reflection, with a small smile upon his thin and pale lips. He wore a pale blue grey suit today, with a reflective yet humble tie. The tie changed its shade of dark blue depending on which direction you saw it from. His shirt and jacket were perfectly made for him, the two tails of his pressed suit making him more favoured in dress for a prom or something similar.

His shoes clicked softly upon the floor, the black shining shoes with a dark brown tip to them, which had a subtle engraving upon it, in light blue. It was a picture of a small wingless dragon, curled about it, sleeping.

Sitting to a table on his own with a tray with a single small cup of coffee, and a humble breakfast of a croissant, he put on his gold rimmed glasses, perfectly round and clear. Reaching within his jacket he produced his journal and a silver pen quickly and elegantly, placed it upon the table, and began to write slowly while drinking his coffee and eating his food at his own leisure.

After breakfast, Haedrian followed directions from one of the staff down to the dungeons, and the vampire studies classroom. As he sat, waiting outside the door, he slowly dozed off.

He was walking. He heard his feet hitting a dirt floor. There was an overwhelming smell of...something...It reminded him of his childhood, his old village. He kept walking. After almost 5 minutes of this, he ran into a tree. He tried to reach around it, but couldnt. Suddenly, he seemed to fall through it, into it. He moved his hands around himself and felt cold, hard bark. The next feeling was that of falling. He didnt stop falling for what felt like hours. He had finally gotten used to the feeling when he slammed into the ground. It was cold, hard stone. He felt something break in his chest and as he opened his mouth to let out a moan of pain, a foot stepped on his throat. A foot with metal soles and spikes that dug into his neck. All he could feel was incredible pain, and all he could hear, was that low, gravely voice laughing.

"Do you like the feeling Haedrian? Do you like dying?"

He woke up with a slight yell. He flailed around, not knowing what was going on. He felt the wall behind him, and the wooden door next to him.

"What was that..." he thought to himself. "Probobly just a dream."
"Yes, it was just a dream," he said outloud to reassure himself.

Aecheron had just managed to eat breakfast when it was time to go to first lesson. He had overslept after his long journey here, and had had to get dressed, get breakfast, and eat in the space of fifteen minutes. He had managed it with seconds to spare.

Luckily he knew roughly where the Transmutation and Manipulation classroom was, and he was now half running towards it. It wouldn't do to be late to his very first lesson. His black ankle boots thudded against the floor, laces half undone due to his haste. A deep green t-shirt hung loosely from his shoulders, intricate black designs swooping across the front and back. He nearly always went for the caual look, and with no apparent uniform he had just thrown on the nearest clothes. His hair hung messily: he had not had time to brush it, and probably wouldn't had bothered anyway.

The corridors were suitably packed, although Aecheron didn't recognise anyone. Still, he would probably get to know some of them soon. They all looked very... he tried to think of the word, and eventually found it. Diverse. That was how he would describe them. It seemed that magical ability transcended all boundaries, and he was grateful for it. The more different types there were, the more chance he would have of finding someone he liked.

His train of thought abruptly crashed, killing all those on board, as he turned the corner and saw the entrance to the classroom. A small queue had formed, and they seemed to be crowding around a notice. Realising that he would not be able to see it, he joined the end of the line and leaned against the wall, waiting for something to happen...

OOC: The other student in your class are already inside the classroom.

IC:

The black-haired boy was becoming restless as he checked his watch again. "A minute to go before the new teachers late," he said. "Maybe he snuffed it before class."

"Not likely, Elrohir," the pink-haired girl said. "Professor Bräck must be talking to him or something."

Outside Alice's room, a couple of second year girls had gathered.

"She's the one who summoned the wraiths right?" one of them asked.

"Yeah, she's the one," the other replied. "I bet she's still asleep too."

Arpad woke up and sprang out of bed with a shock when he saw what time it was. He would have to get used to this nation's early hours. Of course, in his opinion, people in most nations kept early hours. In Callisdrun, hardly anyone was up and about before ten or eleven.

After getting a very fast breakfast, he ran full tilt, only one headphone in his ear, to the Transmutation and Manipulation classroom and practically dived into line.

(OOC The sign, on the door says line up and wait. If you look back, I put in in one of my previous posts. I will assume that all of the studants are waiting at the classroom wall as the sign said. Don't worry, it was a while ago. The post said,

"Leonado made a few last preparations to his classroom, a few tweaks here and there to his design of the place.

Both legends were engraved through a subtle action of Leonado himself, making it seem as if the signs had been there forever."

I will post fully very very soon once I get back from school. Just line up outside the door and I will make the lesson begin. =) )

"Yeah, she's the one," the other replied. "I bet she's still asleep too."

Alice's enjoyable sleep in was soon interrupted by the loud conversation of several girls outside her dorm room. Groaning in irritation, Alice hauled herself out of bed and landed on unsteady feet. It usually took the young girl some time to wake up properly and even at best times she was described as definitely not a morning person, which wasn't exactly odd for a vampire.

The door swung open violently, revealing a scantily clad Alice who hadn't bothered to put any clothes on. A tank top many sizes too small and some short shorts didn't leave much to imagination of eager young men. Unfortunately for them, Alice had more important things on her mind. A scowl plastered across her face, Alice spoke.

"Is there any particular reason why you have decided to hold your gossip session outside my room?!?!"

(OOC: This took me a while to write by the way, so I expect people to put some effort into thier responses. Thanks.)

The teacher of Transmutation and Manipulation looked outside the newly fashioned windows, his art providing him the ability to change his room to suit his whim and desires. The windows instead of being a dull metal; now had a highly polished golden shine to it. The result was more aesthetically pleasing to the artistic teacher; he preferred to have a classroom which seemed more suited to being situated in a mansion, than being part of a school.

He had to admit, he was slightly nervous. His polished shoe tapped upon the hardwood floor, which was also polished to a high shine, the floor being another alteration of his. The wood now was contorted to make beautiful, impossible shapes in the floor, similar to many large snakes curling into themselves into coils. Again, DeGraice’s artistic nature played a part in this room’s construction, or rather, reconstruction.

This was going to be his first class where he had to teach more than one individual. That fact was slightly daunting in itself, the cultured teacher being used to using a teaching style that addressed the individual’s, not the group’s needs. He preferred having a personal and trusting relationship with his student, so that he became not just a teacher, but someone who could be a friend. Leonado was also a trained and experienced counsellor, a talent he enjoyed implementing into all aspects of his life. It was his previous job, a job which had been satisfying, if full of danger for all the wrong reasons. He was hardly the normal counsellor in his past life; the individuals he assisted were not coming to him due to the ordinary reasons.

Leonado heard footsteps by his door, followed by a forceful knock on the door. His students had arrived, more or less on perfect time, at least according to the silver pocket watch which was currently snugly attached to his belt. He met the sound with his thoughts becoming focused, his mind honed to the tasks at hand. His nerves were banished from his body, and his composure was now bolstered and reinforced, the calm and collected exterior reflecting his attitude. The cultured educator walked up to his area of the classroom, pushing back his long pale blonde hair as he did so with a pale grey glove. The skin of his hands were never seen, never revealed, the material of his gloves wrapped tightly around the long slender fingers of the teacher, almost Nosferatu in appearance.

His position taken, his class awaiting, the Professor of Manipulation and Transmutation opened the oak double doors with a thought and a quaint gesture, his hand clenched and tugged as if an invisible cord connected his arm to the door. The doors complied, and swung open majestically, revealing the splendour which was the classroom.

As the students would walk in, their attention would be drawn upwards to the teacher who stood before them at the back of the classroom. He was standing upon a higher platform of the room, a platform which seemed as if it was a place where drama students would act on. Professor DeGraice was smiling slightly and pleasantly, his hands wrapped behind his back, his attention fully upon them. One could speculate that the area he stood on was where he would teach from, and where demonstrations would take place.

“Good morning class, please take a seat at any of the desks. Please fill in from the front.” Professor DeGraice stated politely and with an accent which seemed slightly French. The desks he referred to were rather larger than conventional desks, being made out of a high quality wood, and having a number of drawers and specific areas which would be used in a class. On the left side of the desk one could slide out a draw, in which could be found a reasonably large metal bowl, fashioned it seemed to contain a subject of study for dissection.

“Firstly, may I introduce myself. I am Professor DeGraice, and I have the pleasure of teaching you Manipulation and Transmutation for this term. Within this term I will be guiding you through this course to the best of my ability, and with your good help, I hope to get you to understand the workings of this intriguing and highly popular subject.” The Professor began, his hands no longer held behind his back, but moving slowly to emphasise his words. He looked over his students were getting acquainted with their strange and unorthodox desks.

He asked his first question while walking across the stage he had for himself, looking at the students in turn, and looking as to who would put their hand up first to answer it. The man seemed weak and pale, almost appearing sick. The sunlight cast a few rays onto his white face; his blue eyes were drained of a potency which should have been there. But he acted and composed himself in a quiet confidence, his voice calm and controlled.

“But first, may I ask you, why you have chosen this subject? What do you hope to benefit from this experience, and what do you expect to learn? Can you please give me your name before you answer, it would help me greatly.” The Professor asked in a polite and genuine manner. His eyes cast themselves over the students who pondered the question.

Slowly the students began to come in and sit down. Elrohir made sure he was well away from the pink-haired girl. Once they were all seated they listened to what their professor had to say. There was a little silence as they were asked to state their name and why they wanted to take the class. A slight murmur from the the back of the class but nothing came of it.

Elrohir, being the ‘loud mouth’ of the class was first to speak up. “I’m Elrohir Drake,” he said, scratching the back of his neck. “I took this class because transmutation and manipulation runs in my family. You’ll find my older brother and sister taking this class as well.” He paused to see what kind of look appeared on the professor's face before carrying on. “As for what I hope to learn? I want to become more knowledgeable then either of my siblings and prove to my father that I do have what it takes.”

He leaned back in his seat. “I suppose you could say, that’s how I wish to benefit from this experience as well,” he then added. A satisfied smiled appeared on his face as he waited to hear what the other students had to say.

“Wanker,” the pink-haired girl muttered under her breath, Elrohir chose to ignore her.

(OOC Draconis, just a helpful piece of advice here, "show" readers, don't "tell" them. It makes the writing more fluid and more realistic. I often make that mistakes that myself, and all my own teachers in creative writing have told me to "show" not "tell". Plus, where is the headmaster? Why on earth is he in my lesson? I take it you mean my character when Elrohir looks around.)

The teacher raised his eyebrow to meet the first student to speak. He was impressed with that response, although he could foresee problems with that motivation. Competition was good, but becoming rivals with another born of animosity did the class no good.

Professor DeGraice considered the words for a few long seconds, mulling over them like a fine wine it seemed. His feet moved to closer to the student, his attention brought fully upon Elrohir.

"Well, Elrohir, I am glad that you have some ambition, and eager to prove yourself. But understand, the only competition worthy a wise man is with himself. I will expect the highest from all of you, but I do not want your motivation to be born out of rivalry of family feuds. Having a goal is good, do not let it be at the price of others." The educator said slowly and slightly sternly. His voice had some power due to the soft nature of it, so when he added a subtle warning within it, it had more effect. It was more of helpful and studious advice, one born of experiance.

"And in any regard, your siblings within this room will be supported just the same, so expect a challenge." He said finally, before moving on. "Next, please don't be shy." The Professor said, smiling again more obviously than before.

"Free school you say? I suppose that means free food. Then you wouldn't mind if I drain your last drop of blood and see how much you have to say outside my room?"

"I'm Aecheron Claw, Sir. I chose his class mainly because it sounded interesting."

He smiled as he said this. It was always a good idea to make a good first impression. He guessed that if he tried hard in class and acted respectfully, the teachers would be more likely to turn a blind eye to any "extra-curricular activities" that he might amuse himself with.

"When I read the course list, it just sort of reached out and grabbed me. I didn't like the sound of necromancy- I prefer to leave the dead where they are- and given the rumours about this place I'll probably be up to my neck in vampires, so that rules out Vampire Studies as well. But this lesson sounded genuinely fascinating- after all, it was a form of this that first sparked my interest in magic."

He sat back to let the professor know that he had finished, then turned his attention to his classmates.

Damn it, Elrohir is an arrogant son of a bitch.

Many of the students I taught before I came here simply wanted to learn it to have the abilities to progress in another field. There was no passion, no spark. They were hard to teach, and never reached their potential." The teacher replied pleasantly, with more enthusiam than the previous student. It could be said that his last words with Elrohir were cautious, to warn the student. But he spoke to this student with no such reservations.

He asked a few more students the same question, and the answers were various. Some recieved a passing nod of acknowledgement, some recieved quiet reflection, some recieved a comment onto the nature of the motivation. Almost all were geniunely interested by the subject. There were only a few more students to ask, and DeGraice asked the student Thomas Peterson the same question.

Arpad had taken a seat near the back of the class. He had a keen eye, and the professor's obvious changes to the classroom were fascinating. He still looked partly asleep, with eyes slightly puffy, and hair resembling a weary old mop, except quite dark. Arpad simply liked having a sound-track to his life.

"I would advise against doing anything like that," he warned. His dark eyes glared at her with warning.

Alice switched her gaze to the headmaster, not shrinking from his larger form and obvious ability to disable her with powers beyond hers if it came to that. There had been little discipline in Alice's childhood as her father was always busy with his studies and not particularly concerned with her activities. There had been scorn when she did something wrong of particular note but that was rare and he always reasoned through it with her, explaining the problem.

And so Alice had come to challenge most authoritive figures unless the explained themselves very clearly and logically. Losing her menacing tone, Alice spoke to the headmaster.

"I would assume so. So how do you suggest we resolve this issue?"

By not backing down from the headmaster, Alice was assuring the other girls she would not be easily intimidated whilst also letting Bräck know she wasn't an unreasonable person.

He kept looking up at Aaron, who with his twin sister, was busily going through a bookcase seemingly ignoring his archrival.

“I think Mierin has a free period,” Raven thought as she followed Zero over to the necromancy section. “Should of asked her to come with us.”
