On Corneliu Prime, President James Server was looking out of his bedroom window. He knew that his time as leader has come to an end and time for new blood to take over. He stood there wearing a suit of the finest materials available complete with his Corneliu Freedom Medal, the highest military award to be given.

He left the bedroom and headed for his office for own of his final meetings with the cabinet. By this time next week, he'll no longer be the leader of the Armed Galatic Empire of Corneliu.

He entered the Cabinet room and everyone stood up. "Good Afternoon all."

"Good afternoon sir." They all stated and they sat down when he sat.

"I'm sure that most of you are wondering why I called this meeting. The reason I called this meeting is to let you know that I am going to announce that I am retiring as President of Corneliu."

This brought surprised looks from most people of the cabinet but those select few that he already told. His son John just sat there knowing full well what is coming next.

"Because of this, I am appointing my son, John Server to be the new leader of Corneliu. He has been groomed for this position and I'm sure that his record in diplomacy and war will lead him through the trials of being the President."

"I concur Mr. President." Secretary of State Sheridan stated before anyone else. "I have worked with him before and I can vouch for his diplomatic skills."

"Mr. President. I'm sure you know that he'll still have to be approved by the Senate. Its a plus that his wife, Erica, is loved by the people. Just how are you going to tell the people Mr. President?"

"I am calling a joint session of Congress and I will be announcing it there. Also, invitations will be handed out and we'll probably be ferrying foreign delegates."

They all bowed their heads then Secretary of Labor Camilla Johnson stated, "Mr. President. You have been the most benevolent leader I think this nation has ever had. YOu have made it a joy to work here and there have been few labor problems. I also know your son and I know that he'll do what is necessary to maintain security and prosperity."

"You have my word Johnson that I will continue my father's mission to make us to be as strong as possible in both labor and in commerce." John stated.

"That is good enough for me."

After everyone wishes James luck, the meeting broke up.

This is a CNN breaking news story. It has just been confirmed that President James Server has called a rare session of Congress. No one knows what this is all about but sources close to the meetings have indicated that the Secretary of State has issued special invitations to galactic and world leaders.

We will have more on this as more information comes in.

Secretary of State Sheridan made his way to his office after the meeting. When he arrived, he opened up a locked safe in the lower right desk drawer. He pulled out a messege that was written a few years ago. He looked it over and quickly made updates to it.

"There that is better." He said to himself. He took the letter and placed it in a sealed envelope and carried the letter to the transmission office. When he arrived, the people greeted him and he just nodded before speaking. "I am going to have to ask you all to leave the office for a few minutes." He stated.

They gave him a curious look but decided it was better to leave and left him alone in the office. He sat down at the internationl/intergalatic cipher and typed out the messege.

TO THE INTERGALACTIC LEADERS AND NATIONAL LEADERS ON EARTH
FROM: SECRETARY OF STATE SHERIDAN
SUBJECT: INVITATIONS

You are cordially invited to the inaugeration of Admiral John Server.
Please specify if you need assistance in traveling to Corneliu Prime.
If you are willing to attend, please send a reply to my office.
If you do need assistance, we will have ships dispatched to
you to ferry your representative to Corneliu Prime.

When he dispatched the messege, he left the transmission office and went to the receiving office. When he entered, he went to the person in charge. He walked into his office and he stood up. "Mr Secretary."

"I will be expecting replies from various leaders. Please forward them to my office. Don't look at the replies if you can at all avoid it."

"I understand Mr. Secretary. If I may....

"No you may not ask. Just do as I request." he stated and went back to his office.

President Server entered his office and looked around. He sat down behind his desk and picked up the phone to the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate via conference call.

"People, I am officially notifying you as required by law that I am calling for a joint session of Congress." Server stated without pre-amble.

"Very well Mr. President. I shall get the House together."

"And I will get the Senate as well. If I may ask sir, what should I tell them when they ask why?"

"Just tell them that the President has an announcement to make that'll have a profound effect on the people of this country. The session will take place tomorrow afternoon."

"Very well sir." They said together.

With that, James put the phone back on the cradle. He got back up and left his office and is joined by his guards. He walked down the hallway and proceded towards the window that overlooks a parade ground and watches the new recruits drill.

RE: INVITATIONS


Mr. Sheridan,

Czar Alexei will be in attendance of the coronation. As we are not yet a space power, he requests a vessal be provided. He will also bring his Praetorian Guard, if allowed. Prince John may or may not be tagging along.

I apologize for the indefinite response, but the Czar wanted a message to be out to you as soon as possible.
