Even if Corneliu shall still hold a grudge due to their team...not performing to expectations, Chicanada will be attending Cherry Cup XII and looks foreward to all the bids for the next cup.

And her name is Jaquee (last name? Moriseete). And you forgot Sister Hale Maria*, coach of Tanah Burung!

*ok, I kept getting her name wrong and Tanah never tells me? I feel so sad :'(
Tanah Burung
06-04-2005, 20:12
Sister Hale Maria would never take part in such a poll. However, she will cast a write-in vote for Coach Haztarr, if he promises to wear a Burungi-made evening gown for the talent parade.

Oh, and the Cassowaries sign up again. As for threats, i think the above bit about Coach Haztarr is threat enough for anyone. *shudders*

I suppose I should probably enumerate the conditions of my bid at some point. And, considering how crazy this weekend has been and this week promises to be, that time might as well be now.

Should the Cherry Cup Council, in all its wisdom, see fit to elect my bid as host they'll find CCXII run a lot like CCVIII was. Irrelevant award ceremonies at the mid-break and end, SPORTSBLURB! updates every game-day, groups slapped together depending on how many participants there are, a stout refusal to do any math not handled by a pre-established spreadsheet, and games scorinated on a roughly 'whenever I feel like it' basis (read: every two days, to give everyone enough time to post) will be staples of the Cup. Oh, and I rather liked the last couple Cherry Cups with the small, intense divisions, so there may be something of that too. Ties will result in a shootout (no OT) as per IanHockey rules. Same rankings as posted by Chicanada, and I'll also rip off his rules in case of point ties.

Oh, and I promise - should Iansisle win the bid, we'll remind Starblaydia constantly that, though they were the first to win two Cherry Cups, we were the first to host two of the things. And we'll probably add a "...you great drunken midgets!" to the end.

To: Hockey Canada

Well, make sure you look under every rock when you're looking for it.

ROCK

Actually, I think that in CCXI we could try to use an olympic format. The bottom 8 or 6 teams entered would play a round robin to get into the round robin (for the top whatever teams). Then each team plays each team in their conference before moving onto the relegation round to see who goes to the finals.

Just a suggestion.and…
My bid was that we have 30 teams play.

Each team is ranked.

1. Kallait Nunnat (can't spell it)
2. Starblaydia
3. Robotopolis
4. FLP
etc;

And the rank that they have they are given the rank of a team in the NHL that ESPN NHL 2K5 has given.

1. Tampa Bay- Kallait Nunaat
2. Calgary- Starblaydia
3. Robotpolis- San Jose
4. FLP- whoever was in the eastern finals against Tampa.

The games would be simulated by the actual game.
Example:

Tampa Bay- 3
San Jose- 2

Would be:

Kallait Nunaat- 3
Robotopolis- 2

I call this the HC scorination system.and…
Hockey Canada's Unofficial Bid for CCX:

3 weeks

12-30 teams

12 teams- 2 conferences of 6, top 4 in each conference go through
14 teams- 2 conferences of 7, top 4 in each conference go through
16 teams- 4 divisions of 4, top 2 in each division go through
18 teams- 2 conferences of 9, top 4 in each conference go through

(all above will play a one game elimination in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals to determine the winner)

20 teams- 4 divisions of 5, top 2 in each division go through
22 teams- 2 divisions of 5 and 2 divisions of 6, top 2 in each division go through
24 teams- 6 divisions of 4, top team in each division will go through and 2 wild cards with the most points will go through
26 teams- 4 divisions of 4 and 2 divisions of 5, top team in each division will advance and the 2nd place team in each division of 5 will go through
28 teams- 4 divisions of 7, top 2 in each division will go through
30 teams- 5 divisions of 6 top team in each division and 3 wild cards with the most points advance

(all above will play a one game elimination in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals and finals, a 3-game series will be played to determine a winner)

"O" - I don't see what the big deal is about the host running results for games they are involved in.

We all get an inside-happy-glow when we check our results and find a win waiting for us The thing is, the person in control of those results can easily give themselves that happy-glow by inventing their own result, chaning their score as-generated or simply scoring until they win. Plus, with the way the Cherry Cup works, it also sets them up as the best team for the next installment.

Having someone else do it in the later, more-critical stages (particularly in the final) just makes it fairer and also more-exciting for the host if they've got that far.

Oliverry came in for criticism in CC9 by beating the defending champion (namely me ;) ) 4-0 in the knockout-stages after I'd beaten him 11-1 in the Group stage. He then beat Vilita, who up until then was the best team in the competion with no regular-time losses (iirc), then went on to win the final.

And yes, one could look (and some did) at that suspiciously.

I guess my point is two-fold. One - it's only a game. Two - if the host wins because they cheat - well, you and I will never know - but he/she will, and they will know it really didn't count.

Whatever - if it makes some of us happy to have someone else run the results for the host, then ok, we do it that way.

Well, personally I can't wait to get some hockey action. When are we starting the next Cherry Cup?

(BTW, Calgary Hitmen won a WHL playoff game last night! I'm happy!)

VAR, we'll be waiting for a few days until the actual RP even starts. Tone it down and wait like the rest of us (in the void).

Hockey Canada:

First - I still haven't seen a host selection announced.

Second - I am waiting like the rest of us.

Third - Regarding your suggestion that I tone it down. I considered it. Then I discarded it.

note - this post ("third") is intended to be a little funny. so is the one that says "Hint Hint" in huge letters.

I'd just send your PM to KN. That's how I always worked it. :)

(...unless, of course, you didn't vote for me. In that case, you should send your vote to me and I'll, uh, forward it to KN. Yeah.)

Iansisle is harder to write... save your time and energy by selecting HC. :D

OOC: Sorry Iansisle, but I want to host one thing before i go to university.

There is a time for a change... HC should bring in a system that will make scorinating easier. (tried doing 30 teams for 30 games, it was easy and great. Robotpolis would have won from what i scorinated with my system BTW).

First off, it's Robotopolis. Note the middle O.

Second, How did you come to that conclusion? Did you actually play out the entire thing on ESPN NHL 2K5, even though you weren't selected as host?

Kudos, though, on your Love Of Nationstates post.

Well, we're in a bit of a pickle, folks...

Kalaallit Nunaat has been inactive for 8 days.

Tanah Burung has been inactive for 3 days.

Anybody got any ideas?

I propose that every hosts of the Cherry cup, excepted me and Iansisle, vote for a host bid. Then, if KN logs in, he can validate the final results or do like to choose last cups' hosts

Riot?

I'm almost ok with that ;)

But I like Oliverry's suggestion as well. What do the other former hosts that might still be active think?

Being one of the few active former hosts (off the top of my head, Squonshelous is the only other one I can think of who's "active"....), I support Oliverry's idea.

And here's something official from the LEIHB (LE Ice Hockey Bureau): We're supporting Iansisle's bid, but might lean towards Oliverry.

1. the queen decrees death for computer thieves.

2. the queen is pleased to announce that the next cherry cup will be hosted by her renegade colony of IANSISLE, and commands that province to submit to her will at once.

3. the queen threatens to laugh derisively at all other teams.
